The Fieldhead in Charnwood

Lovely place and staff were fabulous with our furry friend 🐶. Only a couple of gripes. 1) the shower head could do with changing in room 3 2) okay, so I'm a gluten free vegan (I know it's a pain!). But I get it everywhere I go that I have to wait ages for my food, there's not much choice and I end up eating at a different time to the people I've come out with. There are loads of brands of gluten free vegan sausages about so could easily be frozen. I'm not just pulling this hotel down because I find it the same in most places, but it would be amazing if I could fully enjoy a break away without feeling awkward and thus letting my friends and family not feel frustrated too. Please just keep a few GfVe items in the freezer and air fry! Honestly, I'm easily pleased as long as It's GfVe. Thank you though, gorgeous place ☺️

Visited the Fieldhead today with my parents for mother’s day! The food was amazing- my parents had the chicken strips for their starters (which they loved & wish they could have everyday 😂) & i had the halloumi which i thought was amazing. Then me & my mum had the katsu chicken (huge portion & again was amazing) & my dad had the sunday roast which he also enjoyed. I’d say the only slight downfall was that the service was a bit slow & we didn’t get our order for drinks taken for around 30/40 mins & when they did arrive, my mums cappuccino didn’t arrive & she ended up having to get it herself from the bar because we couldn’t get a member of staff. However, I can appreciate that it’s mother’s day & it was so so busy- i’ve worked in similar environments before so I understand how it gets & it’s easy for things to slip your mind when you’re running around tending to many different tables. Would definitely come again!! Really enjoyed my time there & thought the food was very good :)

I don’t Evan want to give a 1 star you made our Mother’s Day evening very unsatisfied we was waiting for 2.5 hours to Evan get our starter and the starters where wrong then got our mains and it was cold and things where missing by they time it was 8.20pm and we had young children! I didint Evan eat hardly any of my main because how long it took to come!! No wonder you ask for a deposit wasn’t Evan worth that!! Bad service from waiters they just Chuck the food on the table and you can hear them arguing in the kitchen mangers don’t Evan know how to apologise won’t be going back hear again we should of just gone to the gynsills!!!

Went last night for a meal Friday 28th March when there was a tribute to Rod Stewart on. They didn’t charge for admission which was good and we both had a meal as we always do. Last night both our meals were outstanding with good portions. I assume there is a new chief we certainly be returning

Didn't stay overnight. Visited for lunch, great food & service. Very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend 👍😊

Fabulous night at the field head hotel, really enjoyed the room ..we had a superb steak dinner with a delicious bottle of red wine, we were well looked after and wanted for nothing..breakfast was a help yourself buffet with a choice of cooked breakfasts all included for a room price ..

We went for lunch today and it was cooked to perfection compliments to the chef the staff are very friendly and the pub is so cosy 👌

Amazing vegan meal, great service, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Will be back!

Enjoyed a lunch here last week. Excellent fish and chips. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly (thank you, Petra). Mini pud (Eton mess) a little disappointing: semi frozen blueberries and squirt cream otherwise I would have given the meal five stars. Five star service though and will definitely return.

Visited New Year’s Day, great atmosphere and food. Staff helpful and chatty. Would return.

Our Christmas dinner! For which we should have paid £89. Initially we were unable to find someone to show us our seats. I had to chase staff around in order to do this. Starter arrived which was fine and fairly prompt. However the main course I had to chase up twice, as we had been waiting for 1 hour and 20 minutes, by this time. When it arrived it was hugely disappointing to say the least. We all ordered the Salmon Wellington. One of mine only had any sort of filling. There were No vegetables of any description. I then googled the menu, as I sat at the table, to ascertain what we should be receiving. Apparently seasonal vegetables! Including red pickled cabbage ( btw which never arrived) and potatoes. After some 15 minutes during which time one of my sons had eaten his food, I asked where the vegetables were? Apparently they had been given to another table, so we had to wait again whilst our main courses were getting cold on the table.. The vegetables eventually arrived., some 20 minutes after the main course had been served. Poorly cooked, as had been the main meal. The potatoes arrived even later!!! At least 10 minutes after the vegetables....ie 30 minutes after the main course. I wanted a stress free Christmas dinner for myself and my sons. By now I had become very upset because this was anything but.... I hate to leave negative reviews but our experience was nothing but appalling. We were due to pay £89 per meal, which i was happy to do so, had the meal been worth it. In the end the manager, who was aware of our most unhappy experience only charged me the deposit paid which was £60. The only parts of this meal worth paying for were the starter and sweet, so even £60 that I paid did not represent value for money. Furthermore our Christmas meal/ day was ruined. I would not want anyone to endure the experience that we had on what should have been a special occasion.

Had Christmas meal with my family today (15th December 2024). Gotta say it was lovely. The food was very good (it was all hot and served on warmef plates); the service was excellent and the ambience was very warm, calm and welcoming. Would certainly recommend Field Head any time. Cannot vouch for rooms as didn't stay overnight.

We have been regulars at the Fieldhead, choosing to eat here at least once or often twice a month. We hadn't been since end of September as we've moved house. Tonight we decided to visit again as we'd missed the food. Unfortunately we were not impressed by the new menu. My favourite prawn cocktail starter has gone, most of the starters are cheesy or fried. My partner always gets the halloumi which used to be in bigger chunks and now in tough little pieces. The hunters chicken has always been my go to, but tonight tasted barely like it used to and the chicken itself wasn't great. The salad it came with was minimal and just rocket with a tomato on top. Nothing like it used to be. Very disappointing as we loved it here and were regular customers but don't think we'll go out of our way to come anymore.

Just wanted to leave a quick review to say me and family have just had a nice lunch at the Field Head. Good choice of menu, nice drinks and very good service from Petra and other staff whilst there.

Scrumptious food at a reasonable price. More than cheap pub grub but it was well worth it.Staff very friendly.Will visit again when we are nearby.

Excellent service from arrival to departure. Served in the evening by Petra who was attentive, quick to serve and lovely to talk to. Excellent stay. 👍

Service was very poor, had to wait ages for everything

We haven't stayed at the hotel, but came for dinner and Drag Show. We've been to music events here before, and always enjoyed it. However the drag artist last night was too crude, and the music far too loud. We had to shout to be heard. Not a pleasant experience. The amazing Sheila Vimm was billed to appear, however due to circumstances had to be replaced. The replacement was very disappointing and not the standard that we are used to seeing at the Field Head. The staff are very nice and the food is tasty. Drinks are a reasonable price. We will be coming back to see future tribute artists. 👌

Lads played cricket here so only used the changing room.

I stay here regularly on business. Great location close to M1 but in a nice quiet area. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Overall great value.

Food was lovely cooked well, good portions and hot. Glass of soda water free, thumbs up, however, surprised soda and lime juice £2.45!!. Will have a wine next time.
