Been using this Fish & Chip shop for decades, always great quality and good service, but towards the higher end on price, but always worth it.

Friendly staff. Great chicken burger, nicely sized and always tastes great.

Good food absolutely awful service and you certainly don’t get what you pay for very small portions.

Used to be nice. Now dry & flavourless & tiny portions. I'm hoping for a rival chip shop to open in Birstall as I refuse to buy any food here.

Food was nice, we got a takeout took a little while. Got back home and we hadn’t been given part of order which living 15 minutes away wasn’t worth going back to get it. Disappointing

Spot on chip cob, staff were friendly too and other food looked ok there. Prices weren't too bad , parking can be busy

Since Paul and Andrea has stepped down the food quality is very poor The batter is not cooked enough The chips poor quality and smaller portions than before The tandoori chicken kebab was too well done and chewy Overall we are very disappointed with the quality of the food The over all quality is not consistent

The staff are extremely rude. You have to repeat your order several times. ITS ONLY CHIPS WITH SALT AND VINEGAR! Shambles!

Best chippy in the country (in my opinion). Chips are always delicious and staff friendly.

Ordered from them on Deliveroo twice, both times I called them with questions about my order and they were really helpful. The food came quickly and was super hot. No items missing. I've been in the shop on a few occasions as well and never had any issues with the food or service. There is a cash machine across the road at the Co-op and you can order on Deliveroo for collection, so no issues with paying by cash or card. Definitely one of the best chippies in the area.

Chips are undercooked and greasy, pies are not Pukka, always one element missing, never any curry sauce. Don't bother.

This is very clean chippy and the staff are very helpful and well mannered. However, i do feel that in the past six months the quality, taste and portion sizes seem to have declined. The two problems that i have seen is it is the only shop locally (that i know of) that doesn't allow card payments, there is a till service over the road, but for convenience it is annoying. The other problem is parking, there is a lay by outside that fills up quickly as does the pavements nearby too with cars using this shop and other fast food shops. That said, it is still our favourite chippy and well worth a visit, you wont be disappointed.

I visit every two to three weeks to get a fish n chip lunch for my nana and myself. The food is always top notch, piping hot and well Cooked.neverhavean issue with the service or length of time waited to get what I order. Good food at a decent price

Nice food, a tad on the pricey side compared to other local chip shops. The staff can be a bit hit and miss with a couple of them being a little short with you. In my experience witnessing my autistic son making an amendment to an order and getting snapped at wasn’t very helpful. No apology was given either. It’s not all staff so can’t hold it against the shop. Cash only establishment so make sure you go cash machine first.

I asked for 2 lightly batterered fish. I may have turned my back for a few minutes. Got home and end up with 1 lightly battered fish as requested and the other that had been sitting in the warmer and was not what i orderered. Unfortuantely this is the last time i go back.

Extremely long wait Regulars got served first while we waited for our paid order. Uncooked almost raw potatoes and warm chips (after the regulars had all the fresh items) & no contactless \ card ? After a pandemic too ?!? Very off Won't go again

OK on the food,service was OK, And with prices doubled to what they were, it's a bit pricey.

Tried there cheeseburgers last week, absutley tops any burger.ive ever had in my life, fresh produce great staff and tasty well prepared and presented food at.the right price. If they did skinny fries as well as there chips then I'd be up for the meal everytime. Tasty tasty tasty food and you can't go wrong with using.this establishment

We often use this chippy as it's our local but gets worse on every visit. Fish is getting worse quality, very soggy and greasy, used to be nice light and crispy. When visiting in the week not much choice on the counter and could only get a microwaved pie. Most recent visit had under done hard pale chips. Such a shame.

I don't live anywhere near here, but often pop in when visiting watermead. Perfect portion size eveytime I have been in. Food is always piping hot. Price is also cheaper than where I live.

My daughter went in asked for a fish n chips, regular curry sauce and she was charged £10.30 what for?

Often pop in here at lunch, fresh chips had just been fried although for some reason the lady who owns it gave me all the scrag ends from portions cooked before. Really would it of cost you that much to put a cone of chips in the bin ??? And yes there's a very rude inpatient woman who works there in the evening!!! Customer service at her worst 😒

Oh dear .Ordered and paid for 3 fish got home only 2 pieces.Also ordered large curry and peas got small.Feel robbed.Been a customer for years won't be going back .It's not as if you can check your order when you leave by unwrapping everything.

Food is very good but the staff are awful .. very abrupt and it would kill them to actually smile and look like they enjoy their job or care about the customers

Food is great. Owners are friendly and always cheerful. The staff who serve are very moody, unfriendly and feel like they are doing us a favour serving! We only go back for the food and nice owners. If staff were good, would give 5 stars. Only downside is they take cash only which, is annoying when you don't have cash and have to drive 10 mins to find cash machine!! The world is going contacless but they take cash only.

Rubbish service chatting to idiots to much instead of getting food served pies don't taste very good they don't taste like they are pukka pies they taste cheap and chips taste raw I won't be going there again rubbish service I don't even think they deserve one star it's a no star chippy

This fish and chip shop is clean, they have ample covid screens on the counter, and it is well lit. I bought a large fish and regular chips for £ 8.10 this is what I normally pay at other fish and chip shops, the food was excellent . The staff were friendly, I will go again.Good range of food to choose from.It is well worth a visit.Lots of different shops nearby, also car park opposite, plus a pub, what's not to like..🌟The price of fish & chips are going up in most fish & chip shops,please check before ordering

Absolutely shocking customer service, women working here are SO RUDE, never experienced people like it.. been a few times and the women are miserable. Ashame really.

This place deserves more than 1 star for the food however the service is very poor from the lady who works there she is so rude. Does not seems like she likes working there and takes it out on the customers!

Worst customer service. Called up to see if they had a menu online (as I couldn't find one) and if they had anything vegan friendly. I got two very short answers of 'no' and then a dial tone. Definitely won't be recommending this chip shop. Please see other reviewers who have had a similar experience

Best chip shop in Leicestershire.

Waited approximately 15 minutes, presumably whilst our fish was being freshly fried only to get home to find one fish perfect and one like an old shoe. Pity as I've given five star ratings in the past.

Unpleasant experience with fish and chips clearly having been fried in very old used oil, fish soaked in oil when we got it and horrible after taste left in mouth for hours after. Also, staff need clean clothes!!

Cod was awful...2nd time now. Was slimey and very smelly. Shame, sometimes the Cod is like a fillet.

This place ;-) contnues to beat the competition from miles around. Excellent juicy fish and crispy batter. Chips are moist and soft, the way we like them. However a bit concerning that during the Covid-19 crisis this business does not offer contactless payment and continues to take cash only.

I don't ever submit negative reviews unless I have told the place I will be. I am not a vegetarian but I was astounded that in today's market place they cook all products, meat and chips in the same vat. Way behind the times and must be losing plenty of custom if not now they need to consider this.

I went in yesterday a little uneasy but the shop was very well organised and safe. Please support our local shops etc.

Thursday lunchtime visit. Steady turnover of customers a good sign. Clean modern premises. Good choice of food nicely prepared and presented. Hygiene rated 5. Well deserved.

If you live local you will use this place otherwise I'd keep on driving. The young lady serving is rude. Not the most helpful of people working there. Dont go by what the prices are on the board as they make up there own coatings. Just avoid the place. Drive a little but more and give the competition your hard earned money.

Portion sizes are small! Food is decent but you get more value for money from gypsy lane chippy!

Great staff and large range of Pies, Fish, Chicken etc. Obviously the busiest day of the week is "Fish Friday" but they put extra staff on and generally cope with the mad rush well.

We have been using this fish and chip shop for a while now. Lovely and clean. Friendly staff. Only the thing I don't like is the "large" sized sauces etc aren't that big.

Excellent chippy and worth the visit. Busy in peak times but the team always deliver consistent results.

Wasn't expecting much as there didn't appear to be much competition in the area and the reviews on here are very mixed (I didn't know that at the time) But portions were great, prices and service were average and food was nice. Only thing negative I can say about it was that the woman in front had the black pudding that I wanted, maybe have a couple in the hot cabinet guys. Had to make do with a pancake roll instead. Would certainly recommend overall though

BEST KEBABS IN LEICESTER but.... so tight for the price... Need more salad on kebab tomartoes to soft hardly any onion n cucumber to small!!! So many customers you would think they would be better on portions!!

The food tastes good, however portions are quite small and pricy. Staff are so rude and arrogant since its competition closed a few weeks ago. Personally I prefer to travel to other chippys for the better service. Just my customers experience.. won't be coming here again.

Chips always good quality but portions are small for the price comparable to other similar quality establishments a few minutes drove away. Fish is good quality, good size, on rare occasions can be oily rather than crispy. Lamb and chicken donner is nice quality. Battered sausages good.
