The Ffrith Hotel in Prestatyn in Denbighshire

New licensees are really making a go of this pub. Great selection of beers and spirits. Nice chatty bar staff. I can't comment on the food as I have not tried it yet, but other regulars seem to have enjoyed their meals.

New owners doing great. Fab choice of drinks and great food.

Came for a meal, ended up with a party in my mouth, Audrey, Stubbsy, Stefan, Trish and Ethan were spot on with service and food. 10/10 would come again.

Staff were friendly, but that's where the enjoyment stopped. 5 of us . Two had the ultimate burger, both were cooked within a inch of their lives . Very dry and cheap tasting. One mixed grill that was cold and overcooked. One fish and chips that got approval and a scampi and chips that was ok . It was so poor ,we didn't bother to complain about 90% of the food because we didn't want to look like we were out for a freebie, we will just not bother again, which is a shame as we've had good food in the past.

The female staff were very rude and unhygienic the smell from them was putrid, the food was expensive and not up to any form of nice. Infact I would go as far as say shouldn’t be given to humans to consume. The locals are very friendly only reason I stayed tbh, also witnessed the staff get annoyed with children playing, they wasn’t causing any harm but the attitude towards them was appalling. This pub was once a lovey place to spend time with friends now it’s not as friendly. Also seen vape smoke coming from behind the bar, and I am sure they water down the drinks as my coke tasted like water. I will not go back untill they have decent staff and food. It’s a tragedy for the locals and I advise that you hire staff with people skills and a bit of class about themselves do not advise going

Not worth visiting! Was much better as a sizzling pub. It’s now very overpriced and hardly edible. For a pizza and halloumi fries with two drinks was just over £30! Very steep for a place like this! The place looked filthy and staff were vaping whilst working and didn’t look like they were at all happy to be there. Won’t be returning

Absolutely lovely kind and polite staff, food was as a pub grub would be. Came with family. Had a lovely time. I had chicken burger, which was abit over cooked, but nice. Chips were lovely. Son had sausage and chips. My partner has lasagna, which he said was OK, and apparently the sausage and mash were spot on. Thank you to the new owners for a pleasant trip

Just called back in here since it's been rebranded the beacon They're still keeping the traditional name The Ffrith Just met the landlord and one lady seemed like lovely people The place has been refurbished and decorated to a nice standard It has a friendly atmosphere to it I am sure it will do well in the summer season although we are in the middle of December and it still busy now

Excellent service friendly staff.

Bar looks beautiful and an amazing drink selection however was very disappointed in the new food. Pizza was luke warm and the beef had a bad aftertaste burger was okay the chicken tasted amazing but the beef and dry burger ruined it, service was great from the young lady behind the bar and was quick to help or fix any problems.

Absolutely brilliant night. Entertainment by Soul Station fronted by fabulous singer Bev. Everyone danced the night away. Great atmosphere.

Went in for lunch before I travelled back home. New managers have been in place for 15 weeks and food been served for the last 3 weeks. Enjoyed my meal along with attentive service from the two girls on bar and floor. They were doing a great job. Plenty of choice on the menu. Only one thing to mention, no sizzler plates.. love the onions on them. Maybe on the next menu? Definitely recommend and will be in again soon. Thanks all

Used to eat here regularly and was pleased to hear that the new landlords had now started serving food again. Sadly I will not be returning. Even though they have a simple menu its overpriced, uses very poor quality ingredients and they desperately need a proper chef/cook. Presentation on the plate was abysmal. Not a good experience.

Great to see a good professional team back in charge, great bar food, lovely atmosphere (especially now the heating's up and running) Really progressive management, they deserve to succeed.

Here are the new menus. Have live entertainment on Fridays from 9pm and karaoke and disco every Saturday from 8:30pm. Dog and family friendly

Went in for food. Was told that they only serve food until 8pm. Told 'em it was 7.35, they checked with the kitchen and said no we only serve food until 7.30 now. Will review again if/when I eat there.

Really good food, and a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and a decent menu. Also dog friendly which was great, they even came around with water bowls for the dog which is great

What a change to this place, new management clearly know what they are doing and deserve all of our support, especially after the previous incumbents (literally). Ate there today 31st October and had a lovely meal from a very good pub menu, just what this place wanted, give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We have tried to get a meal in the Ffrith (A sizzling pub) three times in May and once today the 28/10/24, and on four occasions all they told us we are not serving food. If you want to eat out don't come here try Wetherspoons in Rhyl. There is nothing sizzling about this pub.

A dive of a pub that advertises doing food but when you take the journey to get there and go in they say there not doing food at 4 o'clock in the day, don't advise going for food

Visited on the 2.10.24 in the afternoon with my son and were greeted by the new manager and her husband who were extremely friendly and helpful. Even had a few games of pool with the husband who is a very good player by the way 🫣. They are making there mark at the frith and hopefully they can bring it back to the popular pub it always was. Well done you two and would recommend a visit to anyone and hopefully the food will be available really soon.

The pub restaurant was closed but we were told we could visit the fish'n'chip shop opposite and bring back our food to eat in the pub. We returned with our fish'n'chips and after ordering a drink sat in the pub garden and enjoyed our food. Afterwards, a gentleman came and removed both our empty glasses and the debris from our meal. All very friendly and sociable. Thank you, Mr and Mrs Ffrith

Absolutely brilliant pub Audrey ,the staff and customers made me and the children feel really welcome ,would definitely recommend and we will be back ,pub could do with a children's play area ,but all in all a great welcoming place to go

Went in today to have game darts and few drinks the landlady made us feel very welcoming. Also very chatty and caring landlady and wants the best for the pub and the locals and very polite and has a lot off ideas for the pub (can't wait to see) as they have just taken over the pub I can't wait to see the pub going up and up and getting better than it has done ever been before and can't wait to have food good luck Audrey and Steven you have this

03/08/2024 Since the Ffrith is now under new ownership with 365 I thought it worth a try again. There's a real warm welcome from Audrey and Stubbsy but it's all bad news after that. No food yet but that's understandable. No real (nor Welsh) ales so nothing of worth for me from the bar. We saw staff using e-cigs behind the bar and customers vaping in the lounge. The toilets are still out of order. It's even worse than before so I shan't be back and, to be fair, clearly I'm not the type of customer they want to attract. From earlier in 2024 Been in here several times and personally it's not my favourite pub. No real ales, not a welcoming atmosphere, closes too early so you feel like you're being rushed out of the place. You never know when you're going to be able to get food as all too often the kitchen is closed. When you can get it the food is of a decent standard but not amazing. The gents toilets are a disgrace. Such a shame as it could be a great place to enjoy. You have to like sport on TV and cheap beer alternatives to get anything of value from The Ffrith and to be fair many do. But it's just not enjoyable for me and I mostly avoid going in even though it's close by.

My family and I have eaten here on and off for years, I understand there have been several changes of management/ownership in this time. I must say a year ago the food was nice for pub grub, we’d get a bus or walk over there over eating in town. However, the last time we went, I ordered a chicken burger - while the gravy was stunning sadly the chicken was pink! When I asked for replacement (the server was absolutely lovely and very understanding) I was served pork in the burger - that was a first, I obviously didn’t eat it but also we were refunded for it. When a restaurant serves undercooked chicken then pork not chicken - concerning!

This is my local and has been for 20 years, total crap. No chefs, no food, no bar staff, it used to be the jewel in the crown, don't know how long it will be open.

These staff work so hard honestly, team members calling in sick all the time & they continue to keep the show on the road! Well done xxx

Took family in today who had travelled over from Manchester with a 4 month old baby Quality of food was shocking Overall experience wasn’t great from The make do printed menus ( with no Prices) to the standard of meal served Won’t be returning which is a shame as this is a place which we regularly visit !

Can’t have a meal when the place isn’t open.. COMPLETE. JOKE PLACE. Don’t give us some excuse about staff shortages or absence. It appears a lack of MANAGEMENT COMPETENCE. Or it would be open now.

Arrived without booking and seated to a table within seconds. Ordered food and arrived quickly and sizzling! Cooked perfectly and tasted great. Booked in again for tomorrow !

We waited over an hour for our food to be served. We went to the bar to ask where our food was after a 40 minute wait, to discover our order had not even been processed ! Won't ever go back there!!!

Enthusiasticly visited this place for food, we were eventually seated after being abruptly ordered to stand behind a line to be given a table like naughty school children in what looked like an empty pub. Food was OK ish but came out an awful lot faster than it went in.

We are not from the area , i googled fish & chips,which found the chippy across the road. So we parked in your car park but so glad we changed and went in this pub the food was delicious and very friendly service. Next time we are in the area, we will dine again, highly recommend 👌

We went on a lovely quiet day with my family on holiday. Granted we went as we had a disscount but it was so delicious we would have payed full price and more. Even my 3yr old ate the lot and he's a very picky eater. Lovely servers as well. Only thing i would note is i had to chose the high chair under the one on top as it was dirty still, and the top of the sauces need a quick wipe down in quieter times. But all in all a lovely meal and service and we will be back in the next few days

Came here on Tuesday night, had starters cheesy garlic bread, 2 meals for £11 and 2 children eat for £1 each,this was an epic deal. Drinks pint coke £2.80/£3 I can't remember exactly, half coke £1.65. Good food and cheap, especially though week. Desserts, my girls love them, good choice. Parking onside. Just to.let others know if you don't, dogs are allowed here, we have a pet and it doesn't bother me but my daughter is over coming an eating disorder, has OCD and ASD, she loves it for food and sewing dogs but it does trigger her with checking ever inch of her food for her words (pet hairs) lol... We have never had a bad meal and have been 4 times since October 2023. Staff young girl on Tuesday was amazing and lovely. Toilets are clean and fresh.

Wouldn’t recommend this pub during holidays. Wouldn’t even give it a 1 if I didn’t have too. Order food and drinks which took over an hour just for the drinks alone. Wasn’t the staff who were workings fault, but they had 2 members of staff on working both the bar and floor. The restaurant side was filthy with glasses and plates all over. Waited over 1.5 hours for a 2 minute microwave pizza.

Place was dirty , one person was behind the bar serving between bar and restaurant . Ordered food and drinks online and after an hour the kids pizza arrived which was a microwave pizza and all dried up , we then asked for our drinks as we still hadn’t received these . The waiter brought drinks order which were wrong so we had to send it back . He wasn’t happy about this . Tables still hadn’t been wiped from previous customers . Adults Food arrived after 1 hour and 25 minutes which was cold and we then had to ask for cutlery and compliments . It wasn’t the staffs fault it was poor management

Placed an order for food. After waiting over 30 minutes, asked where the food was. Was told" were you not told it's about an hour for food..." Which we weren't They then said it would be about 10 minutes. 15 minutes later we asked again what was happening as still no food. Was told it was being played up. 20 minutes later. Still no food. Told us they were going to chase as it was well over an hour. The staff made feel we were in the wrong for asking where your food was they were moody and quite rude with customers.Especially the young female server. When the food finally arrived. My burger was Luke warm, the brioche bun was crispy on top as though it had been sat under the keep warm tray for quite a while, chips were very greasy and cold. Wife's steak was so grisly that she could not eat it. And her chips were cold and greasy too . This has to be the worst Sizzling restaurant we have ever eaten at (we have eaten at a few around the UK)

FOOD: Starters: We had the shared platter for starters it was a bit dry and the chicken fries were overcooked but the rest was ok Main: We both had the Tandori skewer with chips (i doubled up on the chips and im glad i did as small portion) but the chicken was absolutely gorgeous, full of flavours and juicy. Veg was cooked nice. STAFF: 2 Female staff behind bar, both very chatty and welcoming, had a laugh and banter with us. HYGIENE: Glass had bit of mark on it but it wiped off, apart from that ok. Cutlery had watermarks but you get that anyway. All in all a nice afternoon meal whilst kids in school, I will definitely visit again. Definately recommend the Tandori Skewer!

Honestly food was OK except 1 was quite greasy and sweet potato fries ordered but not received - chips not the best. Worst was waiting almost an hour for our food. Lovely staff xx better chips please xx
