The Ffrith Hotel in Prestatyn in Denbighshire

What a change to this place, new management clearly know what they are doing and deserve all of our support, especially after the previous incumbents (literally). Ate there today 31st October and had a lovely meal from a very good pub menu, just what this place wanted, give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We have tried to get a meal in the Ffrith (A sizzling pub) three times in May and once today the 28/10/24, and on four occasions all they told us we are not serving food. If you want to eat out don't come here try Wetherspoons in Rhyl. There is nothing sizzling about this pub.

A dive of a pub that advertises doing food but when you take the journey to get there and go in they say there not doing food at 4 o'clock in the day, don't advise going for food

Visited on the 2.10.24 in the afternoon with my son and were greeted by the new manager and her husband who were extremely friendly and helpful. Even had a few games of pool with the husband who is a very good player by the way 🫣. They are making there mark at the frith and hopefully they can bring it back to the popular pub it always was. Well done you two and would recommend a visit to anyone and hopefully the food will be available really soon.

Marvellous what a change in ownership/licencee can do to a place. Currently no food just drinks but have a great selection. Staff really nice, chatty and enthusiastic, if they can get a refurb or even just decorate the place it can only be an improvement on the last managers/owners.

The pub restaurant was closed but we were told we could visit the fish'n'chip shop opposite and bring back our food to eat in the pub. We returned with our fish'n'chips and after ordering a drink sat in the pub garden and enjoyed our food. Afterwards, a gentleman came and removed both our empty glasses and the debris from our meal. All very friendly and sociable. Thank you, Mr and Mrs Ffrith

Had a lovely evening here really glad this place has re opened really enjoyed it will definitely return looking forward to eating here next time

Absolutely brilliant pub Audrey ,the staff and customers made me and the children feel really welcome ,would definitely recommend and we will be back ,pub could do with a children's play area ,but all in all a great welcoming place to go

Went in today to have game darts and few drinks the landlady made us feel very welcoming. Also very chatty and caring landlady and wants the best for the pub and the locals and very polite and has a lot off ideas for the pub (can't wait to see) as they have just taken over the pub I can't wait to see the pub going up and up and getting better than it has done ever been before and can't wait to have food good luck Audrey and Steven you have this

03/08/2024 Since the Ffrith is now under new ownership with 365 I thought it worth a try again. There's a real warm welcome from Audrey and Stubbsy but it's all bad news after that. No food yet but that's understandable. No real (nor Welsh) ales so nothing of worth for me from the bar. We saw staff using e-cigs behind the bar and customers vaping in the lounge. The toilets are still out of order. It's even worse than before so I shan't be back and, to be fair, clearly I'm not the type of customer they want to attract. From earlier in 2024 Been in here several times and personally it's not my favourite pub. No real ales, not a welcoming atmosphere, closes too early so you feel like you're being rushed out of the place. You never know when you're going to be able to get food as all too often the kitchen is closed. When you can get it the food is of a decent standard but not amazing. The gents toilets are a disgrace. Such a shame as it could be a great place to enjoy. You have to like sport on TV and cheap beer alternatives to get anything of value from The Ffrith and to be fair many do. But it's just not enjoyable for me and I mostly avoid going in even though it's close by.

My family and I have eaten here on and off for years, I understand there have been several changes of management/ownership in this time. I must say a year ago the food was nice for pub grub, we’d get a bus or walk over there over eating in town. However, the last time we went, I ordered a chicken burger - while the gravy was stunning sadly the chicken was pink! When I asked for replacement (the server was absolutely lovely and very understanding) I was served pork in the burger - that was a first, I obviously didn’t eat it but also we were refunded for it. When a restaurant serves undercooked chicken then pork not chicken - concerning!

This is my local and has been for 20 years, total crap. No chefs, no food, no bar staff, it used to be the jewel in the crown, don't know how long it will be open.

These staff work so hard honestly, team members calling in sick all the time & they continue to keep the show on the road! Well done xxx

4 days know I've rang and they have no food on, it's the school holidays absolutely rubbish. I don't know how this place stays open. Mitchells and butler need to sort this out

Cannot comment as went in sat down. Went to the bar to be told, limited menu, wait was 1 hour for food as they only had 1 chef. So we left

Visited over the weekend, just for drinks as very limited food menu. Friendly staff and the new manager was Friendly and very apologetic about the food situation.

Took family in today who had travelled over from Manchester with a 4 month old baby Quality of food was shocking Overall experience wasn’t great from The make do printed menus ( with no Prices) to the standard of meal served Won’t be returning which is a shame as this is a place which we regularly visit !

Can’t have a meal when the place isn’t open.. COMPLETE. JOKE PLACE. Don’t give us some excuse about staff shortages or absence. It appears a lack of MANAGEMENT COMPETENCE. Or it would be open now.

The staff a friendly and the service is great.

Arrived without booking and seated to a table within seconds. Ordered food and arrived quickly and sizzling! Cooked perfectly and tasted great. Booked in again for tomorrow !

We waited over an hour for our food to be served. We went to the bar to ask where our food was after a 40 minute wait, to discover our order had not even been processed ! Won't ever go back there!!!

Enthusiasticly visited this place for food, we were eventually seated after being abruptly ordered to stand behind a line to be given a table like naughty school children in what looked like an empty pub. Food was OK ish but came out an awful lot faster than it went in.

We are not from the area , i googled fish & chips,which found the chippy across the road. So we parked in your car park but so glad we changed and went in this pub the food was delicious and very friendly service. Next time we are in the area, we will dine again, highly recommend 👌

This place gives of local pub vibes. The food was very nice. I had the Greek burger and it was amazing! The decoration could do with an uplift as it's very dull.

Nice place right near the beach .local pub to us .gets busy when it's holiday season

We went on a lovely quiet day with my family on holiday. Granted we went as we had a disscount but it was so delicious we would have payed full price and more. Even my 3yr old ate the lot and he's a very picky eater. Lovely servers as well. Only thing i would note is i had to chose the high chair under the one on top as it was dirty still, and the top of the sauces need a quick wipe down in quieter times. But all in all a lovely meal and service and we will be back in the next few days

Came here on Tuesday night, had starters cheesy garlic bread, 2 meals for £11 and 2 children eat for £1 each,this was an epic deal. Drinks pint coke £2.80/£3 I can't remember exactly, half coke £1.65. Good food and cheap, especially though week. Desserts, my girls love them, good choice. Parking onside. Just to.let others know if you don't, dogs are allowed here, we have a pet and it doesn't bother me but my daughter is over coming an eating disorder, has OCD and ASD, she loves it for food and sewing dogs but it does trigger her with checking ever inch of her food for her words (pet hairs) lol... We have never had a bad meal and have been 4 times since October 2023. Staff young girl on Tuesday was amazing and lovely. Toilets are clean and fresh.

Thank you to the hardworking staff at The Ffrith tonight. We had a lovely family evening - we really appreciated being able to watch the Champions League match from Madrid. Staff very efficient, polite and friendly. Good food & drink. Thank you so much.

Wouldn’t recommend this pub during holidays. Wouldn’t even give it a 1 if I didn’t have too. Order food and drinks which took over an hour just for the drinks alone. Wasn’t the staff who were workings fault, but they had 2 members of staff on working both the bar and floor. The restaurant side was filthy with glasses and plates all over. Waited over 1.5 hours for a 2 minute microwave pizza.

Place was dirty , one person was behind the bar serving between bar and restaurant . Ordered food and drinks online and after an hour the kids pizza arrived which was a microwave pizza and all dried up , we then asked for our drinks as we still hadn’t received these . The waiter brought drinks order which were wrong so we had to send it back . He wasn’t happy about this . Tables still hadn’t been wiped from previous customers . Adults Food arrived after 1 hour and 25 minutes which was cold and we then had to ask for cutlery and compliments . It wasn’t the staffs fault it was poor management

Placed an order for food. After waiting over 30 minutes, asked where the food was. Was told" were you not told it's about an hour for food..." Which we weren't They then said it would be about 10 minutes. 15 minutes later we asked again what was happening as still no food. Was told it was being played up. 20 minutes later. Still no food. Told us they were going to chase as it was well over an hour. The staff made feel we were in the wrong for asking where your food was they were moody and quite rude with customers.Especially the young female server. When the food finally arrived. My burger was Luke warm, the brioche bun was crispy on top as though it had been sat under the keep warm tray for quite a while, chips were very greasy and cold. Wife's steak was so grisly that she could not eat it. And her chips were cold and greasy too . This has to be the worst Sizzling restaurant we have ever eaten at (we have eaten at a few around the UK)

FOOD: Starters: We had the shared platter for starters it was a bit dry and the chicken fries were overcooked but the rest was ok Main: We both had the Tandori skewer with chips (i doubled up on the chips and im glad i did as small portion) but the chicken was absolutely gorgeous, full of flavours and juicy. Veg was cooked nice. STAFF: 2 Female staff behind bar, both very chatty and welcoming, had a laugh and banter with us. HYGIENE: Glass had bit of mark on it but it wiped off, apart from that ok. Cutlery had watermarks but you get that anyway. All in all a nice afternoon meal whilst kids in school, I will definitely visit again. Definately recommend the Tandori Skewer!

Excellent food for a really good price. Very generous portions and flexible on modifying your chosen dish to suit. Ability to book online and order food at the table or the bar. Bar area for adults and restaurant area for those under 18. Recommend!

Honestly food was OK except 1 was quite greasy and sweet potato fries ordered but not received - chips not the best. Worst was waiting almost an hour for our food. Lovely staff xx better chips please xx

Love eating here. Never a bad experience, and it just keeps getting better and better. The staff are great and can't do enough for you. The food is tasty, hot and cheap, where else can you feed a family of 4 for less than £15! Keep up the good work guys, we love it

It has been twelve months since I last visited The Ffrith (only live about half a mile away). The reason is a couple of bad experiences. (See my review Feb 2023). So when my daughter suggested dinner, she said that she had had some good meals there recently. I agreed to give it a try. We arrived at about 6pm on the 8th of February and found it not very busy, so we were able to choose where we sat. Drinks and food ordered and didn't have long to wait for food to arrive. Well impressed with the quality and potion of the meals served. Also ordered puddings, again impressed with the quality and potion size. Four people left having enjoyed our evening at the Ffrith, and we will be returning.

The food, service, cleanliness, and atmosphere as always was perfect.

We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try the closest restaurant to us. We were not disappointed! I had the smothered chicken and my husband had the all day breakfast. I asked for the chips to be swapped to sweet potato which was great. We liked the food and experience so much we have even ordered online and everything was just as great. The staff are so friendly, helpful and make you feel very welcome. Keep up the good work David & Kirsty

Went on Tuesday for tea with the family, the food was amazing I had the jerk chicken skewers and they were very tasteful Dave behind the bar was also fantastic helped us out when we needed and nothing was too much

Food was overcooked ,took forever ,will not return

We had lasagne and a drink, it was awful, but made even worse by the attitude of the bar staff. To sum up it was so bad we or our friends will not go back.

We went there and we was waited an hour and a half we waited for we had 3 meal mine came first them 10 min later the other 2 came why did it not come toghther the chicken was burnt and they cover it on bbq sauce

Walked into the foyer met with a sign that said wait to be seated, so I wait and wait about ten minutes in the bar person shouts across to us find yourself somewhere. Anyway starters great, mains no complaints either but desserts very poor I had an after 8 Sunday which arrived as 1 scoop of mint ice cream and the rest made up of squirty cream with a slight bit of chocolate drizzle on top but no after 8s in site. I would return but avoid the desserts and just seat myself straight away

First 3 items ordered of menu not available so husband settled for ham and eggs myself just a bowl of dirty chips as i couldn't be bothered looking through menu a third time. Husbands meal was served 43 mins after order mine didn't arrive 🤬. So had to ask for refund. Was not impressed at all and we eat out a lot in pubs. First time at Fryth as just moved to area

We ordered food had to wait over an hour for it to arrive when it did I ordered the boneless chicken for 2 for £7.99 while my boyfriend got the mega mixed grill he asked for it to be cooked medium to well done. The steak was served rare to medium he sent it back to the kitchen to be cooked the way he ordered it medium to well done. My boneless for 2 was 6x small chicken bites & I was not given the 2 sauces that should of come with it last night was a joke whoever is cooking in the kitchen needs retraining or hire a chef that actually reads the orders not just sends out food not cooked how it was ordered or sends out food with things missing from it we won't be returning until that pub has a real chef

Had dinner there ,it was awful, won't not go again .hubby had steak which was all grisle I had dry over and cooked chips .the chichen burger was burnt. .no never again

We booked a table for dinner (tea) online and on arrival we were initially ignored by the host until my daughter got his attention, we were pointed towards a table that had our name on but wasn't informed whether we ordered at the bar, online or if it was table service so we helped ourselves to the menu which we all agreed seemed a little limited. Once we decided what to have we attempted to order online but it wasn't working so we headed to the bar, the man at the bar was polite and took our order and applied a £5 voucher that I had for being on their mailing list and we headed back to our table to await our food. My wife ordered the large plate gammon which was undercooked but probably just personal preference so let it slide. My daughter ordered Mac and cheese with bacon which was quite small for the price and my son had scampi chips and peas which he said was ok. I ordered the large plate chicken tikka which came with poppadoms and onion bhajis however the bhajis were cold and uncooked and went to sloppy mush when I removed them from my plate, we spoke to a waitress who offered to replace them but I was put off so I decided to carry on and eat the rest. The curry itself wasn't piping hot although the rice was nice, I also had a side of chips which were overcooked. For dessert the kids each had a sundae, I had brownie and my wife had waffle, all were fine apart from one of the sundaes which had a piece of plastic approximately 3 inches long and curved in it which my son had scooped into his mouth and nearly choked on it, my wife immediately went to the bar to complain and initially spoke to our original barman who then passed it to another employee and we was informed it was part of the ice cream tub, she apologised and asked if he was ok and that was that. During our visit we weren't the only table with issues, the table behind were missing part of their order, the table to our left had to send his chicken back as it wasn't cooked and a table in the corner still hadn't received their starters after we'd finished 2 courses, I also had to inform a man that a waiter had dropped a steak knife behind his foot that he would have stood on if he left his seat, dropped by the guy who initially ignored us, who was rude to others and rushed about like an headless chicken. We came here 3 times during a visit to Rhyl during Covid and that experience was so much better than today's and the 2 stars we're giving it is very generous.

The place has gone downhill! No steak no gammon noticed grill and no chicken jerk. Very slow and not cooked brilliantly. Chips and onion rings undercooked. Slow service at the bar.
