Had a lovely comfortable overnight stay at the Ferryman and a fabulous evening meal in the restaurant with friends. I would recommend this as a must stopover for Thames Walker between The Trout at Tadpole Bridge & Oxford. The staff/owners were so kind and attentive and made these sections of our walk very special.

We chose this restaurant/pub mainly as it was a beautiful sunny day, and it was situated on the riverbank. Very relaxing watching the various craft pass by on the river while enjoying a drink. I chose Salmon Fish Cakes which came with a sweet chilli dip and fabulous chips. Also a salad which was just lettuce and tomato. Staff friendly, couldn't fault it

Got some takeaway pizzas as we've seen positive reviews on Instagram. I have to say I was disappointed in the quality of the food- had better pizzas from a supermarket. £23 for a margarita and a chick and sweetcorn. The chicken looked and tasted like pre-packed processed chicken. On this first experience I doubt I would try again.

The Ferryman Inn never fails. We’ve been coming here for years, as have family members and many friends. It never fails to delight. For those seeking a very British experience of a local establishment, this is it. For anyone looking for a warm welcome, excellent food, and fabulous views of the Thames and the countryside, this is it!

Certainly not the prettiest riverside pub, but it is large and has a good sized car park and moorings for aquatic visitors. Inside was rather dated decor wise, but we were greeted cheerily, and there was a good selection of Wadworth ales, and a variety if strong Ciders. Menu offered a good range of pub classics and portions were generous.

Moored up outside this pub on a family narrowboating trip and wish we'd missed it and carried on upriver. Staff were wholly unwelcoming and clearly didn't want us non-locals there. We were made to feel like an inconvenience and a burden even though we were only stopping for one drink and it wasn't busy. Very odd behaviour when you clearly rely on passing trade from river users. Advise avoiding here and stopping at Rose Revived at Newbridge instead.

We held our Christmas family get-together at the Ferryman Inn, 23 in total including children, the proprietors and staff were excellent, the food was ample, hot and tasty, including drinks the cost was very reasonable, we stayed for two nights, the room was showing signs of age, but the bed was comfortable, the room was warm, the view across the Thames was lovely, one drawback was that you could hear everything going on in the bar, maybe room number one is not the best choice, in saying that overall we enjoyed our stay and that was mainly down to the owners and staff, I will have no hesitation in staying there again.

The Sunday Roast was good. Large dish of vegetables, a beef and pork roast with a gravey boat. Arrived promptly with a smile. Apple and custard for desert. Total £27.50. (Much better in all respects than the Red Lion up the road) Followed by a leisurely walk along the river.

Booked for three nights B & B. Good selection of items for continental breakfast, however a very good full English can be had had for an extra £4.50 a day. Has an on site restaurant had two meals there, one excellent and one average. Great view from our room (No8) of the Thames an country side. The owner, his wife and all staff were friendly and helpful and always ready for a chat. Very peaceful pub by the river and great for the Thames Path walks. The only downer for me and the wife was the very poor internet, but we were staying in a secluded part of the countryside 😭😭 typical townies. Would like to return at a later date.

We live locally and we were going on regular walks (usually ending at pubs). We decided a walk along the Thames would be a good idea and a quick search on google maps showed us that The Ferryman would be a good place to stop at. We parked up and went for our walk, returning a couple of hours later in time for lunch. When we walked into the pub it was like entering the shop for 'locals' from The League of Gentlemen. The decor was extremely outdated, it reminded me of a pub from the late 80s. We went and sat at a table and whilst I went to order at the bar I kid you not a man stood at the bar drinking turned around and stared for about 30 seconds at my wife without breaking eye contact... weird. I asked what the soup of the day was and the barman said he wasn't sure and he'd have to go and check. He returned and told me it was mushroom soup. £5.50, fairly typical for good pub grub round here. Lovely, we thought. It arrived shortly afterwards and the second we took a spoonful we looked at each other, recognising the taste of Heinz tinned soup. Not that we don't like Heinz soup but we thought charging £5.50 for something warmed up on the hob or in a microwave was a bit cheeky. Our local pub does excellent home made soup for the same price. We wondered what the process behind choosing the soup of the day was... perhaps spinning the shelf of tins or just a no-look lucky dip? Suffice to say, we won't be going back.

Whether it's the warm welcome or the fact they deliver chilli instead of the ordered beef madras, forget one person's starter or the fine range of wadsworth ales, comfortable if basic rooms I'm not sure but from my experience it's nowhere near as poor as some of the other reviews make out. The Ferryman Inn was a convenient place to stop overnight as it is directly on the Thames Path. The rooms are basic and although they need refurbishment are reasonably clean. As highlighted in other reviews the plumbing/pressure of water needs some work but we had hot water. We ate in the resturant but was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Whilst we knew from reviews that it was pub grub we thought that it would be ok. However, the food was not cooked/reheated and inedible. We were not charged for the food but after a long days walking we needed something to eat - chips had to suffice. The breakfast is served between 8.30 and 9.30. Whilst this may be ok for some people we wanted to have an earlier start to ensure that we reached Oxford in time for our train. We were offered a tray of cereal, yoghurt and fruit to take to our room in the evening. This was adequate but we would have preferred to eat it at a table rather than on the bed. The front of house staff are friendly enough but the current processes and polices are not customer focused. Also, the "chef" needs to ensure that the food is cooked properly before it is sent out! For an overnight stay the room is ok but the food needs improvement. The place was empty even though there is a large caravan/chalet park next door.We had tried to find another place to eat within walking distance but they were fully booked.

We stayed for two nights and whilst it is clearly tired and in need of some attention, it did serve as a perfect budget base for our Thames Path walk. The room was basic and a bit tatty, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom and plumbing clearly need improving - had to wait a while for the cistern to fill between flushes. Being right over the bar it was a bit noisy, but both nights it quietened down by midnight - and we were so tired post walk that this didn't prevent us from having a great sleep on both nights! We ate in the restaurant the first night - great variety on the menu, probably more a case of being heated up rather than cooked, but all the same - tasted great and a good price. A bit disappointed that we weren't warned there was a big party in the function room on the second night - this meant we had to eat elsewhere and could have planned that better if we'd known. We just had the standard cereal and toast breakfast both mornings - enough for us and served with a friendly smile. Staff were friendly throughout and when we checked out we were given a discount on the room (without asking for one) because there was only two of us in a family room.As others have said, so much could be done to enhance it to match its beautiful riverside spot - however it is great to see a pub thriving when so many are closing and it is clearly loved by the locals who will support it through the bleak months when us tourists are few and far between. So it would be disappointing to see it changed so much that it becomes like some of the other riverside pubs we've visited on our travels where the food and service fails to match the premium charges, becoming swarmed by tourists and not a local to be seen. So overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - charming place, full of character and good value for money.

The Ferryman Inn is in a wonderful location right by the river. The views are fabulous and the setting is peaceful. The pub however is VERY mediocre. The decor is dated in the extreme and the toilets are not nice enough to be classed as disgusting. The food was ok and the waitress who served us very pleasant. The state of the toilets alone would prevent me from ever visiting again ~ I assume that the kitchen must be cleaner since none of us came down with food poisoning.

This pub right on the river was in some ways a refreshing change from the upmarket places in the area. Stayed one night whilst walking the Thames Path. The staff are friendly and informative. I haven't been to this pub since the late 80's so we thought we would give it ago. The setting next to the river is fantastic the grounds and garden are well looked after the pub itself could do with a face lift. Lunch was actually better than I thought ( plough mans and American burger. ) one of the draft ciders had run out ( on the hottest day so far really ) in the correct hands and with some clever investment this would be a gold mine tho with the setting. I must mention the lady behind the bar all on her own she was serving / delivering orders/ taking orders / clearing tables. She should get paid triple her wage. All in all worth a visit as we will again if not just to watch the human Dinamo Behring the bar.

We arrived late after a long day of hiking along the Thames. Evening staff were helpful and charming. We had a couple of pints and a nice dinner. The room was ok - large but with a very small bathroom that could do with a makeover.Breakfast turned out to be a joke. We were told that cooked breakfast would be from 10 am. We found that a bit weird and asked to get it confirmed which it was - as it was Sunday. When we came down for breakfast the next morning at a quarter to ten breakfast was almost done. We were now told that cooked breakfast should have been booked the previous day. My friend asked for cold cuts or cheese - but that was out of the question as they were about to prepare lunch! They couldn't care less if we had been told otherwise, so we ended up eating toast and sweet yoghurt. It might be on a lovely setting - but I don't feel any urge to a revisit.

The Radcot Cruiser Club celebrated its 30th Anniversary at the Ferryman Inn on Saturday 23rd May 2015 with a Dinner Dance. The location on the banks of the River Thames is idyllic, drinks we bought in the bar before going into the banqueting suite for dinner. The food was excellent, my wife and I chose the roast beef that was cooked to perfection along with the crispy roast potatoes and accompanying vegetables. A choice of dessert followed (I had the apple pie again delicious) prior to the evening entertainment from the Defibrillators who played music from the 60's, 70's & 80's perfect for the audience. One arrival, the Inn looked fine, with friendly staff (which continued throughout). We were taken to our room, which looked fine on first impressions, but on the 2nd and closer inspection we noticed dead fly's on the carpet, and another 10-15 flying around the room. After a 30 minute swatfest, the number were diminishing, but then we noticed a ladybird nest at the side of the cupboard door and more fly's congregating behind the drawn curtains. We spoke to the landlord, who then sent a cleaner up to vaccum and clear the rest of the beasties. The came back claiming the room was now clear. After a nice drink at the bar, we went upstairs for the night... and to then find the remaining ladybirds crawling on the ceiling. They didn't look too harmful so decided that was a far as we'd get with the vermin/bug situation.. so 1/10 for the attempt to remove the beasties. Sleep was interrupted, due to noise coming from the bar, the walls seem very thin. Breakfast was nice, though it was only continental.. it would be another £4.50 each for a cooked one!! The landlord then claimed the beastie issue was caused to the warm summer/ and guests opening the windows. Apart from the noise, beasts and lame excuses, the stay wasn't too bad, Cheap n cheerful, but bring a mossie net in case you get the family room.

Had a Sunday lunch for 2, my wife had previously been and rated this village pub part of the Greene King group. In a way the pub is traditional with a bar, restaurant layout but with a COVID canopy with booth style tables. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The draught beer on offer was a Greene King summer brew and a guest ale from Hardy & Hansons, Old Trip. Very reasonably priced at £4.80. We both had a roast, I had beef and my wife pork. My beef was plentiful but a little chewy but wife’s pork was good. The roast potatoes were very good and the vegetables were plentiful if a little soggy. There was a good sweet selection I had the apple pie with custard which was alright. I don’t know why there haven’t been any recent reviews but based on this visit I won’t be rushing back, sorry.
