Visited here on thursday 25july for our anniversary to have meal, must say the food was first class, lovely steak pie& proper home made chips, will definitely be going there again, even the dog felt at ease and ate the chips. Staff friendly & locals, nice its dog friendly nice and local to us

Our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children) really enjoyed our meals here. There was a variety of dishes on offer including some great pies and plenty for the vegetarians. Friendly staff. We’ll definitely be back.

A lovely place with a very friendly atmosphere, the staff are so polite and the food is very tasty (albeit) too much and I had to leave some (my own bad) can’t fault it any way. All the best to you all xx

First visit today and most definitely not the last. Excellent food and drink, friendly service and a warm atmosphere.

No carpark as such but don't know until you drive up the yard. Only way out was to reverse. The inside was dark. We didn't stay

My first visit to the Ferry Boat, very friendly staff, good varied menu, dog friendly, Would definitely visit again Enjoyed the BLT, chips and side salad, great portion sizes and value for money.

The food was top-notch well done, Lis. The staff are super friendly, and everyone who frequents the cafe/pub can only praise the food served, which I can attest to. Well done all highly recommended.

We rang ,and was told, no need to book. 4 adults, 2children and a puppy. We were allowed to sit inside, it was our choice to sit in a secluded area. We all enjoyed our meal though one did say, one small slice of bread with their all day breakfast looked a little mean. One chocolate brownie pudding was more than ample ( we could have done with 3 spoons) overall an enjoyable meal. Thank you

Just visiting with family from around the world for the weekend. Came to watch the FA cup final. Great selection of IPA and other beers and ciders, and friendly staff. Did not order food, but recommended

Lovely Sunday lunch for 11 of us and a new baby. Food was tasty and good value for money. Between us we had roast lamb, roast chicken, vegetarian sausages and fish and chips. All good. Puds we had were crumble and custard and chocolate brownie with raspberry ice cream. Hubby said the brownie was the best he’d ever had! Very nice friendly waitresses Jen and Cerys. We would recommend anyone to go for a meal as thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Saturday lunch with family, everything 5 star, great pub only let down by it was very cold (no heating). We all know things are tight but if you want people back it's got to be comfortable, will be back when weather warmer. Geoff Davies.

The Ferryboat Inn is a dog friendly pub/restaurant/cafe close to the river Trent, it’s a little out of the way but definitely worth the effort to get there, I went there with my wife, daughter and grandchildren from the moment we got there the staff were extremely attentive and there for every request we made, the coffee was actually hot and made fresh, the chef has created a good choice of starters, mains and deserts, evens a child’s menu , our meals looked and tasted amazing with good sized portions and very competitively priced, my family and I will definitely be returning at some point in the future

Excellent Sunday lunch.. proper home cooked food served on warmed plates. Unpretentious. Very friendly service and a warm welcome. Would definitely go back. The interior needs a bit of TLC but the most important things ., food and service, were great and meals reasonably priced.

Stopped for a sunday lunch after an event in Newark, the food was fantastic (as always) and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. This pub is a hidden gem that you should keep secret because I want to be able to visit again. The small car park across the road is a bit lethal after rain though.

All I can say is excellent highly reccomended

Absolutely fantastic food, something for everyone on the menu with a great kids selection. Generous portion sizes and excellent service. Great atmosphere in the bar with dogs being made very welcome. Altogether a great country pub experience. We will certainly not leave it so long next time till we re visit

Superb Sunday lunch. Massive thanks to Bethany and her excellent team for fitting us in last minute. We enjoyed the most succulent and indeed huge roast beef lunches. We felt guilty for leaving food but we were so full. Anyone with a massive appetite will definitely be rewarded by a visit. We will definitely be returning soon 😁

Had heard that the Fish Chowder was excellent here, so rang and asked if it was still on the Specials board. It wasn't but the chef said he would do it for us anyway, which we thought was really accomodating. Needless to say it was well worth the trip out. The Chowder was extremely tasty, consisting of mussels, prawns, scallops and halibut (I think). The sauce was delicious and the crusty bread to mop it up was really fresh. Hubby was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the vegan pie, which was also extremely tasty, with handcut chips. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We will definitely be back, and can thoroughly recommend the Ferryboat Inn.

Best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time

This is the second time I've visited the Ferryboat recently and it has been lovely both times! And i wish i had taken pics. Last time we had steaks, which were cooked to perfection, with home made chips and all the trimmings. This time I had the wild mushroom linguini which was delicious! Both times the staff were attentive and welcoming, we barely waited any time for our food and it arrived piping hot. So all in all fab! I highly recommend and shall being going back soon!

We stopped in here without booking on a Tuesday night. The main bar area was fairly busy but we got a table straight away. Nice old style local pub. Staff well presented and very happy to help. Food was beautiful. Simple menu but enough to choose from. Gammon was great. Pie was great. Homemade. Also really liked the cheesy garlic bread. Very nice experience and we will definitely be back.

Sunday Lunch - very nicely cooked and presented! Service from the staff was excellent and they sell a nice beer or two as well.

Visited Sunday for lunch with our sons and their wives. 8 of us in our party, really nice lunch, all plated which I prefer, beef was cooked really nice and a nice selection of vegetables. One of our table had fish and chips too. All very nice. Definitely our North Notts pub of choice. Lovely locals too. Very warm welcome. See you again next year.

We had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. The food was fresh and well prepared and the service was great. We will be back.

This pub is friendly and welcoming the staff go the extra mile to make you comfortable. The food is fantastic , large portion and fairly priced, The atmosphere with other customers is a warm welcome. We will definitely be going back. Thank you, ferry boat Inn keep up the good work .

£7.95 prawn and garlic starter , contained a bowl with 4 tiny prawns in. Sunday dinners were luke warm, portion was minute for £15pp. Veg was served in a dish with no cutlery swamped in brown water.. she picture attached. Roast potatoes were hard, gravy was oily. Very very poor, shall not be returning or recommending to anyone. Overpriced and poor quality food.

Travelling to see friends we diverted to The Ferryman for lunch. Very friendly staff and a straightforward lunchtime menu. The omelettes were generous and tasty and the chips were proper homemade chunky ones. Washed down with a beer it was a good value and tasty meal. Recommended.

Cafe: poor choice of menu for food intolerances. Expensive. Friendly staff who try to help but menu has little flexibility.

Nice pub serving good pub grub. We were there on a Friday fish and chip night and the fish was huge. Good real ales, good decor, friendly locals. Ab Fab 😎

Sat outside with the dogs and had food and drinks. The drinks were lovely and served correctly in a gin glass. The food was great and plenty of it I only had a sandwich but it was delicious and fresh. The chips are very nice. Nice job lace to pass an hour having a drink also have things happening in there evenings.

Went for steak night 2 for £28 really good food well cooked & decent Diane sauce. Staff as always really attentive and friendly. Also dog friendly as are the locals. Can't fault it

Came on bank holiday Monday website advertising food served till 8 had a couple of drinks went to the bar at 6.30 to be told food had finished. Oh well will come back the next day no problem. Back on Tuesday nice and early just in case the food finishes at 6.30 got here for 5.00 went to the bar asked for menu to be told they have a large booking so no more food. Very disappointed to say the least.

Visited as a party of 6 on Bank Holiday weekend and was very impressed. Good sized portions and the meat was cooked perfectly. Great to see a real homemade Yorkshire pudding and fresh veggies on the plate. We were served by a very polite young lady who was very informative. Really enjoyed the real ales they had on the bar too. We will definitely return, in fact we’ve booked for next week!

Had disgusting Sunday lunch today vegetables not cooked meat couldn't eat roast potatoes not cooked told chef who apologised and would sort out bill out We was given three pounds off which we was disgusted with Will not be returning

We stayed at local campsite Trentfield farm which is an amazing gem and they recommend Ferryboat Inn. We had two evenings there and lunch and food was amazing and staff was so friendly definitely recommend this pub

What can , I say , I've just visited the ferryboat inn, and the food was beautiful went with two friends, had burgers ,pie , all was amazing and so we're the puddings But !! What I can't get over was the the friendliness, and kindness shown to meby Paris, who served us , as I stupidly nearly ran out of petrol, she rang her mum , and she brought some petrol as wouldn't have made it to the petrol station, her mum was so kind , and went out of her way to help, they oozed such warmth and kindness , which is not often found and I was quite overwhelmed, I really can't thank them enough, what a lovely lovely place , I had never been before , and will certainly go back , charming , village , and Paris and her mum run the cafe to the back . Thankyou, thankyou thankyou Best wishes, and wish there were more people in the world like this mum and daughter, Karen🥰

Visited a couple of times here whilst stopping at Trentfield Farm - only a 10 min walk away. Plenty of outside tables. We ate fish and chips which was a special Friday deal - 2 portions for £19.95, instead of £14.95 each. A good plateful...

Looking at a property locally and called here for lunch. Food was excellent and waiting times were good. All staff were friendly and seemed to have an excellent rapport with the customers who were probably locals. Prices were excellent and I would certainly go back....

We visited the Ferryboat twice last week, on both occasions we were blown away by the welcome both for us and our dogs, meals that were superbly cooked and presented and excellent beers. Thank you to the landlord and his excellent staff

A lovely local and typically welcoming pub down by the river at Church Laneham. Excellent meals and service, allows dogs in its bar area, glowing real fire, real ales, whats not to like...highly recommended.

I'm used to going to places where you feel guilty about asking for food. This place is unbelievable. The food is excellent and the staff are the best I've ever encountered. Even if the food was rubbish I'd come back! Hard working people providing a fantastic service. God bless you!

First visit for quite a few years. Did not disappoint it was a great buzzing atmosphere. It was a very hot sunny bank holiday Sunday. Service was quick under a lot of pressure with a lot of customers . The hot food was delicious we will give five stars . I had the steak and ale pie with shortcrust pastry veggies lovely gravy. My hubbie had fish chips and mushy peas both amazing excellent sized portions too

Lovely and friendly staff food beaut

Excellent selection of drinks and food. I had the pork belly and husband the mixed grill and it was perfection. We ate outside in the beer garden which was spacious. Pub is dog friendly too so I will bring my Pooches next time.

Booked this lovely Christmas meal after coming here in the summer experiencing delicious food and amazing staff. We had a lovely Christmas meal ,the best we have ever had .Credit to the chef and the staff for making our evening special. We will be returning soon and anyone who's looking for Special Christmas meal look no further than the " ferryboat Inn ". Returned here 13/05/23 for another meal and was not disappointed had the rack of lamb from the special board, I must say it was delicious and worth every penny, hats off to the chef for top quality meal, more restaurant quality than pub food, thank you again for delivering a top quality service,

Very busy Bank Holiday Friday Night! Clientele boosted by local caravan sites. Fish & Chips were ace & service friendly & good despite being so busy. Nice Menu with good variety.

Wow… food is made by a chef that cares. Incredible!! Staff are also very friendly so well Worth a visit. The chips are amazing and quite frankly one of the best tasting chips I’ve had. All the food was super!!
