I phoned to ask whether it was carvery for Sunday lunch and I was told yes so I booked a table of 3 for me and my children,We arrived and were seated next to a table of regulars who were drinking ,,throughout the meal there were people stood directly behind me which was uncomfortable. The waitress was polite and explained it was just plated meals,so we ordered three roast dinners and a cauliflower cheese, when the dinners came I noticed that it wasn’t fresh mashed potatoes but frozen, the beef was tough the pork fatty but my son said the chicken was beautiful, the cauliflower cheese had more crunch than my cornflakes in the morning and the cheese sauce was from a packet. The drinks and service was good but £15 for a plated dinner of this quality was over priced and we should have left the cauliflower cheese in the pan to cook for another 20 mins…sorry to say disappointing

Food was quite nice. Cauliflower cheese was runny and veg hard, no heating, subtly mentioned we were cold and they didn't really seem too bothered. Spilled a drink and they didn't bother to wipe it up for us. Mediocre service. Meat and yorkshire were the saving grace. Probably won't return.

Visited for a New Year's Day family meal. Tasty, homemade, quality food. The roast dinner was beautiful and other family members said the pie and chips were great too. Friendly service particularly from the lady who I assume is the owner - she made us feel right at home. Thank you - would definitely recommend and come back again!

The experience we had this time was not as good as our previous visit. We had to wait ages for our starters. I ordered the Wild Mushrooms Linguine, I was expecting different kinds of mushrooms and only got chestnuts, the linguine tasted like it had been sat in water for a long period of time. One of our party asked for not a lot of chips and got more than they wanted which was such a waste. As we were here for a special occasion it felt like it was spoiled the occasion.

Went here for a dinner with some friends. We all loved it. Highly recommend the steak and ale pie, even the mrs loved it and she doesn't even like steak nor ale. They have specials everyday too, my friend had the venison pie special, was insanely amazing. Fish and chips is spot on. Service is excellent. Felt like a 4-5 star restaurant how the food was made and presented. Definitely going again.

I was quite disappointed by the experience unfortunately. I was looking forward to a veggie roast, and had seen they did homemade nut roasts etc but all they had were vegan sausages. They were the cheap ‘birdseye’ frozen type I could have bought from the supermarket. And I paid £14 for the privilege! I didn’t get a Yorkshire pudding either like it said on the menu. We were also sat next to a table of about 10 young lads who were quite loud, even though we had booked! There was a whole empty restaurant behind that they could have sat us in too!

We've been going to the Ferryboat for years and years. I grew up in the village, and my Dad still lives there Sunday Lunch is a great experience. It's a friendly place, with lovely staff who are welcoming. I had the Chicken Sunday Lunch this time and it was superb. A full breast of chicken with amazing potatoes, veg and a Yorkshire Pud. We had a side order of cauliflower cheese which was perfection Reasonably priced and fabulous value for money

This was always our ‘must go to’ Sunday lunch pub and been going for years, then went a week ago and all seems to have changed as if new chef or saving money. The veg was poor in rest of what you received and over cooked and meat choice was poor, just 1 small slice of beef. I’ve always gone for the nut roast option and really disappointed to see no longer a choice but veggie sausages, which were poor quality and not what I’d want for a Sunday roast. It was like a complete different place, so unlikely to go for Sunday lunch again, which is a shame.

Cosy little pub next to the River Trent at Church Laneham. Really nice staff and helpful with everything, the three ladies that were serving were well on top of everything and had a table set out for us when we first arrived as we booked. The food options were good, even for a Sunday! The food was tasty, clean and hot when it came out and we all enjoyed it. The pub is nice, clean and taken care of, there is a lot of parking out the front and shouldn’t be a problem to find. Dogs are welcome and make a nice addition to the place, and there is a good atmosphere, it’s a very nice country pub.

Back again after a couple of years, we love the area and this weekend we’ve fished, drank (lots) and eat lots to. We used the pub all weekend, highly recommend the fish and chips on Friday, breakfast on Saturday ( Tilly is so lovely, thank you for looking after us) and finished the weekend off with a Sunday lunch. Mixed meat for me and roast pork for the wife. No cracking as they’d ran out, which is fine as we eat mid afternoon. Beautiful meal, will definitely come again, we’re booking in for a weekend of fishing before autumn sets in. Thanks again folks.

Camp from the nearby campsite for a Sunday Lunch. Group of 9/10 of us. Beef looked lovely as it arrived but was very tough/chewy. Veg minimal, (2 carrots and 2 bits of broccoli) (did order cauliflower cheese for an extra £3.95..!!) but just OK. Mash cold, 2 small roasties. Two or 3 people sent theirs back to be reheated. Of those who ordered Pork specifically to have crackling were told the crackling was all gone. We were asked if there’s anything they could replace it with but weren’t offered any options as to what. .? No one bothered to visit the table to ask if everything was OK after the initial service, only to ask if we wanted drinks. Not local so wouldn’t return anyway necessarily but we were all a little disappointed in the service and food.

Had heard that the Fish Chowder was excellent here, so rang and asked if it was still on the Specials board. It wasn't but the chef said he would do it for us anyway, which we thought was really accomodating. Needless to say it was well worth the trip out. The Chowder was extremely tasty, consisting of mussels, prawns, scallops and halibut (I think). The sauce was delicious and the crusty bread to mop it up was really fresh. Hubby was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the vegan pie, which was also extremely tasty, with handcut chips. Thank you for a wonderful meal. What I can't get over was the the friendliness, and kindness shown to meby Paris, who served us , as I stupidly nearly ran out of petrol, she rang her mum , and she brought some petrol as wouldn't have made it to the petrol station, her mum was so kind , and went out of her way to help, they oozed such warmth and kindness , which is not often found and I was quite overwhelmed, I really can't thank them enough, what a lovely lovely place , I had never been before , and will certainly go back , charming , village , and Paris and her mum run the cafe to the back .
