Lovely, sunny Sunday and only three tables occupied, all outside. Order given, staff not particularly friendly. My sandwich was mediocre, not even cut in half, accompanying salad consisted of lots of lettuce, a few slivers of onion and one cherry tomato cut in half, no balsamic glaze or dressing.

My mum had visited here twice last year with my sister and enjoyed it - she asked if I could take her there for a meal, so I booked a table for a Sunday lunchtime for her, me and my wife. The pub is located in a pretty location right by the river, and it was nice seeing the boats come and go. It was clear that a high proportion of visitors arrive by boat and moor outside, which perhaps explains the high 'touristy' prices for the food. Sunday roast was £17 which is well above the price I normally pay in Lowestoft where I live. There is a good sized car park for those arriving by road, and on arrival we were told to take any table, so we chose one near a window to have a nice view of the river. The food and drink is ordered at the bar and paid in advance. You help yourself to cutlery and sauces / condiments which are located at a table to one end of the pub. The wait for food was reasonably short (circa 30 minutes) - my wife and I ordered the roast beef and my mum had scampi. They agreed to make mum a child size portion for a reduced price, which was appreciated. The food was okay...the Sunday roast beef featured two large slices of meat, with two Yorkshire Puddings, some roast potatoes, and a separate plate of vegetables. There was gravy on the plate but it hardly covered the bottom of the plate, the beef was lean although a little firm to cut, and the vegetables were on the well-done side. I would have liked more gravy but nobody came to check if everything was okay until after we had finished eating. The cakes were home-made and in contrast to the main meals they were reasonably priced, with good sized portions of cheesecake being £3.95. My wife and I both had the Malteser cheesecake...the base was really tasty although the cheesecake didn't have much Malteser flavour, just broken up chocolate pieces on top. The pint of Ghost Ship I had was tasty and in good condition...I don't know the price as I was not offered a receipt when I paid. The pub toilets were a little basic and my wife said the ladies toilets had no soap available, which is clearly not great. The redeeming feature of our visit was the village store and chocolate shop attached to the pub from the car park side, and after eating we popped in and bought some Mini Egg Sponge and a selection of chocolate truffles to go, as a treat. Overall the meal was okay but very expensive for what you got. I have had better Sunday roasts for much less. As the pub is a good 40-minute drive from home I suspect we won't be returning anytime soon based on this experience.

Tired building, dirty windows, poor welcome, no real beer, pub food was good, l would avoid next time Plenty of notices saying what you can or cant do Large mooring area £10 a night. Has great potential for friendly landlord and a bit of money updating the interior. Has real beer literature on show but cant be bothered to sell any. No lemon on site for large g&ts Just generally run without enthusiasm

We have been visiting here for years and have always enjoyed it. The service, location and food has always brought us back. Our most recent visit however, was not as expected... The menu prices are considerably higher but the portions are much smaller, so much so that my husband looked at his plate with a worried expression, concerned he was going to be hungry after! We took some cake home from the cake counter, we were spoilt for choice but, the cake was stale which was such a shame. We spent over £100 for five people, no starters, 3 cakes and left disappointed. We hope this changes as we have always enjoyed visiting. The owner is very welcoming and friendly.

The location is lovely, but the pub grounds are neglected (very long grass and lots of dog poo everywhere) and the food is pretty bad. None of my group could eat our food and even the table next to us looked disappointed. Not particularly welcoming staff either. We felt like we were a burden when going to the bar. Maybe they just don't know how to cook lasagne in Norfolk. It's the second place I've been to in a week that served a dry, chewy and bland lasagne. No white sauce at all and not much in the way of red sauce. Just dry beef, pasta and hard cheese on top. Garlic bread was inedible. Could have hammered nails in to the table with it!

Came to the pub from recommendations, was poorly greeted from the owner who was extremely rude, as we came into the pub it had just opened and the table was dirty. reception was cold we where given one menu for 4 people as my nanny went to the bar to get another menu the owner smacked her hand down on the menus which was extremely rude. me and family will definitely not return after that incident. we where so appalled by how we where treated we left and went to another pub who where happy to greet us and had polite service.

Bar staff absolutely miserable, doesn’t take much to be polite, sat on her phone then swept the floor while we were eating . Flies everywhere, we let out six on our own, toilets vile, detritus on seat, in toilet and on the front at the bottom with dead flies in the toilet bowl, dirty Jay cloths around taps, goodness knows what they held as sinks were rank. No good beers, and dirty wine glasses, what a mess and a real shame. No wonder it was empty. I hope my food was the good point, fingers crossed for later

Positive - parking, surroundings, nature. Playground just around the corner. Negative - Service… well, I think other reviews cover it. We wanted to give it a try, as we love supporting small village business. Unfortunately, the waitress didn’t seem to be having her best day; really rude. At one point, the chef came out from the backroom and started flirting with her, which felt inappropriate, especially since we were there with our child. The pub was empty, so we could hear everything clearly. We visited on a Sunday lunch, so I’m not sure if it’s busier on other days, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t. The whole place seems dirty - not maintained, and when my wife went to the restroom, she said she’d rather go in the bushes outside. The food was okay - nothing special - but for the price (£25 each), we definitely expected much more.

Called in for a meal here, barmaid looked like she had suffered a breakup or something, seemed in a mood with the world. My wife went to the shop at the rear while I had a pint. The chef came out looking moody, walked up to the barmaid shuffled paper and left without saying a word. I remember you thinking, I guess those two have had words with each other before we arrived. Meanwhile my wife and children came back, she said the woman in the shop was really moody and rude with her and the children. So at that point, enough is enough, we left and went to acle instead. Maybe they are normally better and they had all recently had an argument or something. But we don't want that be involved in it. Quite disappointed

So sad, could be great, but lacks service, atmosphere and hygiene. Food quality however was ok but overpriced. Girl behind the bar was simply not bothered and rude. Absolutely no customer service skills and clearly doesn’t want to be there. Wearing a faded black t-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms that needed a wash, her demeanour was one of ‘can’t be bothered’… Had to clear our own table twice! So service 1/10 Hygiene was not good. Toilets had been mopped and slopped but tissue left on the floor had been simply sloshed into the corner. Spiders webs all up the back of the toilet door (not a Halloween decoration) so hygiene 3/10 Atmosphere was flat… cold, no music, poor service… it was so bad it was actually laughable… so atmosphere 2/10 Food was slightly overpriced but when it arrived it was ok… not great or good, but ok… it was the only thing that was a positive for this pub…7/10 Location was great, but no upkeep of the seating or grass so it has a potential 10/10, but is scoring a 3/10 Overall this could be an amazing place but it not being managed well at all… Popped into the shop next door and I’d bet some cash on the fact that the lady running that is related to the girl behind the bar as she was just as rude and dismissive! And the man who walked behind the bar to pull his own drink, who i smiled at with literally no response, had the same customer service skills too! All round a huge disappointment. So much so we decided to leave after we ate and moored up somewhere else! I’d only go back if there was an ‘Under New Management’ banner outside!

The location of the pub is superb but sadly that is the only good point. It is let down by some of the most miserable staff I have ever come across. The food was awful and certainly very overpriced for what we had, they can’t even be bothered to bring your cutlery to you and just say it’s over there which is not very good if your sitting on your own outside with a dog and the outside area left an awful lot to be desired. It is such a shame as this pub could be a goldmine with the right people running it but until this happens we will not be returning.

We always looked forward to visiting this pub with our Children as the gardens overlooking the River Bure were always kept in pristine condition. Well not anymore, we felt the landlord/ manager did not care two knots about the customers. Inside, sticky tables and bars, cobwebs, smelly loos plus lots of sad faces. The bar staff must have been trained not to smile and have undergone a personalityectomy. My brother was of the opinion the staff have competitions to see who can get the worst review. Clearly this could be one of the best pubs on the Norfolk Broads. It’s in a delightful, well populated and affluent Village. TIME FOR A CHANGE….BRING IN SOME NEW BLOOD.

Visited the Ferry Inn as one of our many stop offs whilst holidaying on the Norfolk Broads. We moored up late afternoon & payed for overnight mooring. It’s such a shame that this beautiful location is spoiled by a run down, grubby pub with awful staff! Outside area overgrown, untidy & dirty looking. I was first greeted if that’s what you want to call it!! By a very rude, miserable older man who I’m guessing is the landlord, who simply said to me is that your dog? To which I replied yes & then I was told to put it on a lead! No please or thank you just rude, my dog was doing no harm she wasn’t running around annoying anyway she was simply sat by my feet minding her own business! Should have known then that this wasn’t going to be the best experience! Staff inside the pub also rude & miserable couldn’t crack a smile if they tried!!! Absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever, the staff create an unpleasant atmosphere it’s like they don’t want you there & everything is an effort!! Unbelievably l was actually asked if l wanted a glass - l’m over 70!, and l was not offered any ice. The crockery was less than clean as was one spoon, the teapots don’t seem to have been properly cleaned for a while. Two portions of dessert arrive, minus spoons, which we were told to go inside to get them, the dessert was quite passable. The garden tables have seen far better days, the lawn was unkempt and the outside of the building looks tired.

I’ve seen a couple of recent reviews and ‘TikTok’, ‘YouTube’, ‘Facebook’ videos mentioning this particular pub. I visited here a week ago, moored up, plenty of space and no one in the pub. The owners were outstanding, they were incredibly hard working people, the food was absolutely beautiful (we were here for dinner and for breakfast the following day). I couldn’t eat my dessert or my breakfast, sadly I’d been feeling unwell. The owners and kitchen staff kindly put takeaway dishes together for me. We were only one of two tables here for dinner - it was sad to see that a few had left an unbelievable mess behind. The staff were running themselves ragged attempting to clean up the mess left behind and serve us, so we mucked in! I saw some comments about ‘a dog smell’. The owners have two of the most beautiful and well behaved old English sheep dogs who do not come down until the last customers have left - we specifically asked to meet them and give them a few treats. As a family of two adults and four children (two of which were friends of my own children), this was an utterly easy, relaxing and wonderful experience for us. We noted the waterfowl to the grounds and were pleased to hear that the ferry inn staff look out for them. They save food for them and check up on them on a daily basis. They also have a little known chocolate haven and fresh produce shop to the back of the pub! These guys are hard working, patient and wonderful people and they deserve your business. It’s such a shame to find that social media posts can tarnish such a nice place with good people. I think that the previous reviewee ‘Diane’ may have been one of the messy lot. 🤣

Just stopped for drinks while on the Broads, lady behind the bar very grumpy, clearly having a bad day and was very rude to my son when asking for ID (which he provided) and made a huge show of trying to figure out how old he actually is. Toilets had no lights so that was also fun. I don't think we will stop here again.

Had a pint of Ghost Ship in the garden, pub is nicely decorated internally, the garden could do with a bit of a tidy up. Food looked good although we were not eating, lovely location next to the river with boats moored. Nice atmosphere and sweet little chocolate shop at the back of the pub.

Lovely little pub, and they have a menu for gluten-free food aswell. There's a small shop in the back which has freshly made cakes and a lovely selection of chocolates

Just had lunch in here on a wet and windy day. The burgers were the best we have had in a very long time, absolutely excellent.

Proper traditional country pub. Outside looks a little dated but food was fantastic. Plenty to choose from and really nice situation next to the river

What a disappointment. Wanted to try somewhere local to support local businesses. Ordered Steak and Ale pie .when it arrived the pastry top was undercooked to raw, meat had lot of gristle and served with what I can only describe as yesterday's veg. Also Ordered Ham egg and chips, came with 3 eggs dumped on the ham one was broken the other two just about cooked. Would of mentioned it but no bar staff anywhere.

I know we visited out of season but the welcome left a lot to be desired. Staff didn’t want to make conversation and looked very scruffy. Food was poor, the chips had definitely been cooked in oil that obviously hadn’t been changed for ages and the burger had a funny taste to it, not convinced it was beef. Definitely won’t be visiting again.

Came to the pub with some friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Ordered cottage pie from the menu. It didn't state on the menu the topping was cheesy. But I don't like cheese. But my husband asked to be on the safe side. He was told by 2 staff member. It was normal mash. After my husbands food arrived, I was told the potatoe was cheesy. And they had to do me another one and said they were sorry about thr mistake. OK so I thought. When my food arrived I was shocked to be honest. I got a bowl of mince with mash potato plonked on top. on the top. Great looking cottage pie (not) that I paid £12 for. It tasted mew but I ate most of it. As I was very hungry and have just come out of hospital after surgery and didn't really want to make a fuss. But thinking about it I told my husband to say something. As this was not exceptabale. Thought would have been offered a free drink or some money off. Shocking. Well I won't be eaten here again after this. Great customer service and outstanding cottage pie. Which wasn't even a cottage pie. And it didn't even state the topping was cheesy mash

Unfortunately no a very good experience i would not recommend Normally Weatherspoon's food is ok at the end of the day you get what you pay for ! but this spoons is awful the food was cold and took over 30mins to arrive. The waitress was rude and the place was really unclean and farr to warm inside - i saw one man try and open a door for some fresh air and then a staff member came and rather aggressively shut this which wasn't very good service. I wouldn't return

Amazing fish and chips. Hot freshly cooked. Beautiful large pieces of fish and lovely crispy batter. Chips were excellent too. Great friendly service too. Was my 1st visit but I will return as often as possible. Many thanks Marina Bay
