Lovely pub that I frequent often for drinks and for food. Normal menu is lovely but they also do The Fat Tuesday Project taster evenings for £60 per head and it never fails to satisfy me Lovely friendly staff. A must visit

Roast arrived lukewarm and beef had too soft of a texture, to the point where I stopped eating halfway through for fear that it had expired

From booking my table to the meal itself we received excellent customer service. Staff were friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. The food was outstanding, so delicious. Great atmosphere, with a great vibe. 100% recommend and we shall definitely be returning.

Was taken by family who live locally and go regularly - and I can see why it is their favourite. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming, and very tasty food. I had a beef Ragu with pappardelle pasta and I'm going to assume the pasta was freshly made as it was really light and delicious. we'll return next time we are in Exeter!

Magic little pub serving a great variety of beers and ciders and has an awesome spirits collection (especially the whisky). Food is delicious and the staff are the best. I reckon this is the best pub in Exeter.

Amazing Sunday lunch!!! It’s so homely in here and the staff is amazing, definitely recommend the Sunday lunch it’s the best in Exeter. Food comes out super quick but make sure you book otherwise you may not be seated.

Our first visit last night to eat. It was during the Rugby Six Nations. The place was full to the brim and yet the team kept up with food orders and service. There is interesting wholesome menu options and nicely presented. We will go again when we are in Exeter. We went after 6pm and the parking is free at that time.

Really enjoyable evening out, friendly service, good atmosphere, busy without being crowded, lovely food.

I went here with my son what a hidden gem! I was looking for somewhere more traditional were you can have a quiet pint. I was not dissapointed, as most of Exeter is full of student bars this was an exception and its off the beaten track. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food in a friendly classic pub atmosphere. Was zero degrees outside and so the roaring fire and well kept ales were a welcome sight.

It is a great pub and want to go back. Popped in for a quick drink, busy with revelers and a great atmosphere. Good interesting beers on tap. Through a couple of mishaps the owner/manager was very accommodating. We bought two drinks which we were over charged for and the barman spilled the pint. The owner apologised whereupon I checked the price with him and he soon realised something had gone awry. He gave me more back than the difference and later a shot of Cazcabel each! Much gratitude. Definitely a unique and good looking pub inside. Worth a visit.

I've lived in Exeter all my life and we've never been here before - we came here for Christmas Eve drinks as it's a dog friendly pub and we were so impressed we will absolutely be coming back! Reasonably priced drinks, great bar staff, a warm and welcoming pub and a free bowl of roast potatoes and gravy yummy! I almost don't want to leave a good review as I don't want it getting busy but what a great find!

A great selection of whisky, and a good selection of Japanese whisky included in that selection. A couple of IPAs, Guinness and lagers on tap. Great pub, friendly staff, not tried the food but would highly recommend popping in to check out this pub if you are in the area

Food was exceptionally good but difficult to talk because of the poor acoustics of the restaurant. We ended up shouting to make ourselves heard!

We were very lucky to get a booking for Sunday Lunch, you MUST book! We all had Roast Beef with all the trimmings, the cauliflower cheese was perfect, still slightly firm, the beef was both delicious and tender and the Yorkshires were massive. They were extremely busy and they turned away numerous walk ins. We didn’t have to wait too long for our meals. Afterwards we had cheesecake with pumpkin purée, that was seriously rich! Staff were lovely, attentive but not under our feet and very friendly. I would heartily recommend this pub. 5*

First time here for about 5 years. Still a great pub. Food looked amazing even though didn't have time to eat. Personally could have done with a couple more beer selections but that's a minor issue.

Community venue with a changing menu, and a cheerful atmosphere. Excellent and attentive service from the staff, good food, accommodated a peanut and shellfish allergy with reassuring confidence, and I also overheard them accommodate someone who was dairy free at another table.

Probably the best place in Exeter if you're looking for superb food in a relaxed pub setting. The atmosphere is buzzing and the staff super friendly and attentive. The menu offers some classics and more creative options that seem to change regularly. We've been here a couple of times for dinner and Sunday roasts.

We’ve been going for drinks regularly and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Finally booked to have a meal as the food always looked so good, and reality definitely lived up to expectations, each dish was delicious! We ended up thanking the chefs in person we were so impressed!

Wow. Unusual location down a side street in Exeter delivering simply stunning, homemade tasty food. As dog friendly as dog friendly gets as well. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Traditional style pub, recommended to me by the hotel I was staying at. The bar serves local ales and the usual beers, the staff are friendly, and the food is decent looking, though I didn't get to try any.

Visited today for Sunday lunch. What an absolute gem of a place. Wonderful food and the customer service was great :) The whole experience was very easy and enjoyable which is exactly what you want from a meal out. Child and dog friendly, the landlady had a lengthy chat with my son about the resident cacti 🌵 We will be back. 👌🏻

This little pub, situated in the older part of Exeter is a real treasure with a joyous atmosphere. As soon as we entered we were engulfed by the warm and friendly vibe, the friendly staff and the relaxed and informal ambience of a busy independent pub. Although busy, we felt that the service we received was attentive throughout with just enough time between courses to allow room for a bit more. The food is clearly home cooked to order and utterly delicious, with regular changes to accommodate what is available and in season. There were some really unusual choices to try as well as some regulars, slow cooked beef cheeks and fish pie. While this is not an upmarket dining experience, the presentation and deliciousness of the food, the warmth of the environment and the friendliness of the staff more than make up for this. It is informal dining with a touch of class, thanks to the posh nosh on your plate. I really appreciated that the landlord came over during the course of our meal to ask if everything was to our liking and if there was anything else we needed. This pub is a gem, like a little local in the centre of Exeter. We loved everything about it and will definitely be back; for more of the friendly welcoming space and their mouth-watering food.

Love the personal attention and warm welcome. There is quite a short menu but we don't have any problem find something to eat and we're gluten intolerant. Food couldn't be fresher - always pleased with our choices. Friendly place - a real gem.

Had Sunday lunch today, first visit.. staff, atmosphere and food, all fabulous. Super dog friendly and just sorry we had no room for pudding. Vow to make more effort next time! Would highly recommend and will be back next time I’m visiting Dad!

What a great meal. My wife loved her fish pie and I devoured my chicken sandwich. Surprised to see no pork dishes on the menu, but our experience was still stellar.

The menu isn’t exactly what you would expect from a pub but the food is good. In my opinion the prices are too high.

Wonderful pub, has a traditional feel whilst still managing to be light and airy. Only had some chips (which where excellent) whilst enjoying a great pint. We shall be returning to try out the menu though as from I could see on other tables the food looked great. Selection of old school bar games really add to what is a very welcoming environment. Although some table top skittles would be a great addition!

Brilliant little pub! Great beers, amazing whiskies and absolutely fantastic food! 5* all round for this place! Coming here will be a new annual tradition for us on our way down to Cornwall, can’t recommend it enough!

Great selection of drinks and excellent service but meal was underwhelming. The owner cleared my table and asked how everything was and when I explained what I felt was wrong with the dish, he apologised profusely and comped the meal, despite my insisting this was not necessary and assuring him I just wanted to give honest feedback and was not being difficult for the sake of it. I’m in hospitality myself and hate to criticise venues that are doing their best and given the owner’s response to my comments, I’m sure this will be a 5 star venue in no time.

We had a great light dinner with a cheese board and charcuterie plate and a couple of lagers. We sat next to the open doors for the breeze and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food. We finished with a silky panna cotta and whisky. We’re looking forward to going back again. Great food and atmosphere!
