Mount Radford in Exeter

We went along to watch a premier league game - despite booking in advance for a good view, there were only small ish screens and volume was low. The food tasted nice and decent sized portions but the bbq chicken didn’t quite work! The atmosphere was good for a game but some room for improvement!

Great local on way back to the hotel. Visit it 2 or 3 times a week. Great service and good atmosphere

Lovely place for a catch up with friends at the end of a busy work day. Dog friendly too.

Came in about 3 months ago and was given the full service by the young fella Bay Gorrod. What a charmer.

A lovely pub but poor food experience. My beef was inedible and the gravy portion was tiny. When I asked for more gravy I was told I had to pay another £1 per person! I have never been asked for this in any other pub or restaurant in my life 😟 sadly will not return.

Amazing evening at the Mount Radford tonight. Had a lovely meal that tasted great and was presented beautifully. Thumbs up to the kitchen staff - Lewis and Jem I believe?! Just popped in for lunch and fancied a pie. I'm always concerned that the pie is just a casserole with a disc of pastry floating on the top. I was not disappointed here. Delicious proper pie! Thank you.

Visited today, great friendly staff and fantastic food. I had a really nice pie (a proper pie none of this pastry topped dish malarkey) with chips and peas all for less than £12. Well worth a visit.

Wandering around magdalen road, we were looking for somewhere decent to sit down and have a spot of lunch. We noticed the board outside advertising a lunch deal - sandwich and a drink for £9. Pretty reasonable. We sat down and were greeted by a friendly member of staff, placed our order and all 4 sandwiches came out in decent time. Can't go wrong for value for money which is hard to find, they were taking pictures of some burgers when we were in as well which looked delicious - they explained it was for a burger deal coming up later on in the week. I'm sure they will sell a lot with food looking this good. We look forward to returning and definitely recommend for food.

Popped in on a recommendation after work for a spot lunch. Ordered from the lunch deal menu which was any sandwich and a drink for £9. This was incredibly great value for money. I sat in the lounge side which was pleasant although there was another side of the pub which looked like a sports bar with some table games and a pool table. The atmosphere was just right and the team were lovely and attentive.

Great pub. Nice atmosphere- having two distinct sides means you never feel exiled from the energy of a busy sports bar even if you’re enjoying a quiet pint. Great selection of drinks- definitely no champagne problems here! Staff are really friendly and the range of good deals and promotions they do give me ever more reasons to keep coming back!

Terrible for allergens. We made it explicit that my husband is allergic to gluten. He had a chicken and bacon burger. He is now severely ill due to gluten. Two of us had Mac and cheese with garlic bread. This was fairly bland and didn’t look particularly cooked. Garlic ciabatta barely saw the oven and was more like bread flavoured by garlic. We will definitely not return! Yet a few years ago we had amazing meals there.

What a fantastic pub. Something for everyone with the 2 sides. Staff always friendly and food and drink always spot on. Lunch Deal was great value for money and the choice of draught was great. Staff are always friendly - the manager obviously knows what he's doing! Popped in again this evening and it is good to see the staff are friendly still and there was a nice buzz.

I am a frequent customer here and for some time I have experienced that kitchen staff cannot cope with amount of work. Too often wait for food is too long. Usually they inform you but today they did not. An hour of wait, very frustrating. They say the kitchen is too small so they should do something about. Giving a cold pretentious apology is not enough, action to improve things is important

Came for lunch. Had the steak sandwich which used to be really good but seems that they are making cost savings now. Sandwich didnt have much filling and the portion of fries for an extra £2 seemed mean. I really didn't like the taste of the garden salad and wasn't expecting watermelon in it. Service was warm and friendly.

Amazing food and brilliant staff 1000% recommend! Also plenty of tv’s to watch the football or any sport's that you want to watch

Beautiful architecture and nice atmosphere

Don't even think about ordering the fish and chips awful. Fish full of oil and greasey horrible chips to go with it. My wife's meal was a little better, but not much. We will never go back for food. The pub itself looks lovely from the outside with the hanging baskets, and the inside is okay. But the food is either fried or microwaved, save you money Don't bother.

Food was ok, although the wings were deep fried, and the BBQ sauce only tasted of vinegar. None of that mattered. The atmosphere was great, and the shuffleboard area was buzzing. So much fun. Loved it.

Hi. Had a family meal tonight. 3 adults and 2 young (active) children. I child is gluten free. I have frequented many a Greeneking over the last 10years. This is the best. The staff Debbie and Chef Serge couldn't be any more helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and time here. It was a lovely adult atmosphere and totally accepting and accommodating of the childrens needs. Just wish it was my local. Thankyou Bernie and family.

Great place to eat and drink, but also to just be with friends. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm, and there are a number of different seating areas, some with TV views other more quiet and secluded. The food was delicious. The menu has all the usual you'd expect at a pub, but they have something very special they call their small plate menu. You choose 3 different dishes, and they're just something very different and truly delicious . Thank you.

Lovely, cosy pub with absolutely scrumptious food. We had the steak and the pie - filling portions, delicious gravy, all the good stuff. Gret selection of drinks, affordable cocktails, they had Devon red on tap, too! On top of that, sweet, attentive staff. Looking forward to coming back to this great spot!

We went for dinner & drinks with family. Really nice atmosphere in both bars with friendly and efficient staff. We had a very nice dinner in the lounge bar - food was good and reasonably priced. After dinner, we moved into the sports bar for drinks and games. The sports bar has plenty of TVs, pool, darts and three shuffleboards - great fun (especially as I won 😀). The Mount Radford is family and dog friendly. There's water and doggy snacks available at all times.

Really nice atmosphere, been to a few of the quizzes and was really great. Fab selection of drinks and food, and our server Lisette was very helpful. Lovely place, will be going back again.

Second time we organise a very successful leaving do party here! Everything was great and went just as planned. The staff very welcoming, friendly and efficient. We were around 25 people, pre booked an area at the sports bar and pre-ordered nibbles, small plates to share. These were served right on time as per requested upon booking. The food was absolute taste!! Bring back the prawn and chorizo plate pleaseeee… Really recommend for “small” gatherings, being them professional or casual! Thank you!

I love it! I went there on a Saturday afternoon, and there are not many people. I could choose whichever seat I want and the most importantly the food is really nice! I definitely will go there again next time!

Fun spot for shuffleboard. Good selection of beers, and plenty of books for a group to chat over a pint. Nice that they have low and no alcohol options if you have to drive. We walked from another location, but I think there is a pay parking nearby.

Food is standard Greene King. Sport bar OK if you like watching sport on TV. Main bar used for food.

The Mount Radford is a hidden gem in Exeter. One of the best pub quizzes going. They have a good variety of questions and a brilliant music round. Hosted very well by the team. Its very dog friendly! My dog always tries to drag us in when walking past for a treat and a fuss. Not too expensive, especially for Exeter! There's two sides, one with a more relaxed atmosphere and a livelier section with jukebox, pool tables and shuffle board. Something for whatever mood you're in. I do wish there were more vegetarian or vegan/llactose intolerant food options though as the only time we've eaten there the limited choices of food haven't been amazing which means we don't eat there often even though it's the closes pub to us. I understand that's due to the chain and not the people running the place though. The other food also looks decent so I still give 5 stars.

Pity about the ladies toilets, four cubicles but only two toilet seats?🥺

I went to the Mount Radford for a few drinks with friends last night. There was a great selection of drinks available & the bar staff were very friendly. The Shufl tables are very reasonably priced and are a great game to play.

Sunday roast was lovely, peaceful, welcoming atmosphere for families, helpful and friendly staff.

I like this pub for sports but they refuse to turn the volume up for football even though they have one side of the pub dedicated to sports, and advertise games being shown. also sometimes you can be waiting 10 minutes plus as the person behind the bar goes missing regularly...

Very nice pub with an enjoyable dining area and a separate bar area in back with televisions and games. Food is reasonably priced. The cod dinner is huge enough for two. Pints are generously sized.

Came in to watch the football and it was a really lovely atmosphere, not too crowded and staff were super lovely and attentive when bringing over food & drinks. would highly recommend for families, groups of friends and uni students.

Great managament & staff. A special mention for Sarah who is always so friendly and cheerful. Not the cheapest of places but they can't do anyhing about that. It is a Greene King hostelry and as such, is lumbered with their price structure. It is also in a very affluent area of Exeter. I have eaten here before and it's standard decent pub fare at a reasonable cost. Love the fact it still has a lounge and (sports) bar. One of few bars left in Exeter with Sky/Tnt etc. Nice old building with a good atmosphere.

An expensive pub could do with a major refurb we can not understand how they justify charging the prices they do stay seem to not that bothers if they serve you or not

Good beer with a fair choice too. Enjoyed the food and a good and enjoyable wine selection. Bit chilly - but then it was subzero outside, can't really blame them for that.

Had a meal for a family members birthday, there was 13 of us so we were advised a 45 min wait which I totally understand as there was so many of us but I do not believe we waited that long. Food came out together. It was delicious and everyone ate it all. The barman (sorry didn’t catch his name) was polite attentive and very professional as was the landlord. I can not recommend enough. Really great good, polite and fast service and a great atmosphere with 2 bars in the top and bottom of the establishment, with sports being played and shufl board/pool tables in the top and a lounge in the bottom with a relaxed atmosphere for those who are eating

Booked the Mount Radford, Exeter for our family pre Christmas Festive lunch. Ten in the party ranging from teenagers to 70+. We were not disappointed: easy online booking and pre ordering, table set perfectly for the event, staff very friendly and efficient, food well cooked to adequately sized portions and sensibly priced, pleasant ambience. The food took a short while to arrive but was not a distraction at all. All in all a great start to our Christmas festivities and well recommended.

Went there for my Christmas party. The communication for organising it was good and on the day we had a great time. The place feels cosy and the service was good.

We had pre booked our table last night for A Christmas meal (booked on line on the green king booking form) Stating we would have food from the Christmas menu. On arrival we were told our table was occupied with 4 persons having a drink but will be available at our pre booked time. With this in mind we found a table that was empty (but reserved later that night) This was fine with us. But as our time slot came & passed without the 4 persons sat at our table moving, we were asked to vacate the table we were sat to make way for the party who had booked & had to point out we were waiting for the 4 to move so we can take our table. After a bit of a wait, they finally moved off & we then expected the table to be laid with Christmas crackers & maybe a nice table cloth (Like other table in the same room) But this never happened. It was now 7.40.p.m. so we went to order 3 Christmas Meals only to be told Sorry None Available. So, to be clear we had pre booked a Christmas Menu food Booked a Table for a Christmas meal on A Friday Night & the time was 7.40.p.m. & there is No Christmas Food. We did not make a fuss but decided to have a Christmas Burger each … Well, all I can say is how underwhelming they turned out to be (dry, just Lukewarm nothing but disappointing) We did order 3 portions of “pigs in Blankets” as starters to have something to nibble on before our so-called Christmas burgers arrived. But everything arrived at the same time again the pigs in blankets were cold undercooked. Sorry Mount Radford you can do better then this…

An old and attractive building containing a modern interior. Its large attractive windows let in plenty of light and add atmosphere. The main bar is on two levels and generally set out for eating for which there was plenty of custom. Five real ales were on offer which were mostly from Greene Kings own range plus a guest,this was Otter Amber and was well kept. There was also a good selection of craft ales too on keg. On the way to the gents I found the large rear bar. This had sport on the TV,a pool table and more conventional pub seating. The real ales are only in the front bar though. All in all a very pleasant pub and well worth finding. It’s probably a good 15 minute walk from the city centre shops.

We went for Sunday lunch , and the pub was busy . It was obvious they were short staffed so a little patience was needed. Sunday roast was nice good , good portions and not too expensive. The manager who dealt with the rude , demanding customers behind us was calm and very professional , she deserved a medal for dealing with these intolerant ignorant people. The manager was so short staffed she even mucked in making the deserts, which were fabulous , especially the chocolate brownie

Very poor experience. To run out of roast beef at 1:00pm for a Sunday lunch menu when it is the focus of the menu is very poor. The meal took almost an hour to be served . When I raised the delay after a 40 minute wait the manager I don’t know if she was but appeared to be in charge) said - weren’t you told there was a delay - I wasn’t but her attitude was appalling implying that this was self evident. When I challenged this as a lame ( non ) excuse she became defensive and declared that she could not be spoken to thus! Deplorable customer service. Meal when it came was unremarkable. Very disappointing .

I absolutely love this pub. Me, my husband and daughter all go together for food regularly. It's always clean, tidy and the staff are very helpful and attentive. Food is fantastic and drinks are always lovely. I can't rate it highly enough.
