The Fat Crab in Sutton

My family had been excited to see what the fat crab was all about . So it was a promise to visit there with my family. First to have a takeaway and come back later for dinner if we see the staff were friendly. To our surprise the snow crab we ordered 39 pounds and the source was outrageous. It was so salty you could actually taste the suspended salt at the bottom of the plate. The powered peper and the muxed herbs could be tasted individually. We ended up binning the source. The crab legs were all bony. As a matter of we fact we were at the verge of returning the meal and just leave. Our experienced with the meal was horrible. Very disappointing for the kind of charge the meal cost.

My first seafood boil and I am obsessed!!!!! You get to choose your seafood, extras, flavours and spice🌶️ then all your food is delivered fresh from the boil along with any sides. It was super messy, but lots of fun - take some of your anger out smashing your shells!🦞 We visited the Surrey branch by car, but there are more branches surrounding London which may be easier to get to! I’d also recommend booking as it filled up quickly.

Amazing food!Friendly staff, always busy place and different experience eating food without cutleries. It just tastes different.

I booked in December for my 30th birthday in Feb. When I turned up, they said I had no booking. The waitress was so unprofessional and her words were ‘I can’t handle this’. You can imagine my disappointment that I couldn’t celebrate my birthday meal which I had booked months in advance for. Their advice was: I should have called up to check the reservation. What useless people working there. Thanks for ruining my birthday plans…

866998361 Drove from East Sussex to eat crab in Sutton. Seafood was fresh but very salty, served in bags and paper cups and no cutlery. Prices as per good restaurant. Next to us were locals , swearing loudly and shouting. After being asked not to swear they spent rest of our time there swearing and making remarks. Staff did nothing about it. Bottom of the gutter experience if you after one.

Boought about 100 pounds of items today, consisting of lobster, crab, king prawns, sweet potato fries and scallops. The king prawns, crab and sweet potato fries were fantastic, seasoned very well with a good quantity of food. The lobster tasted decent as well, but we barely got to enjoy it as it was very small and had more shell than meat. And as for our scallops, as we were ordering takeout they decided to pull a fast one on us and only gave us 5 small battered scallops. Bear in mind we paid 10 pounds for that dish, putting each scallop at 2 pounds. Needless to say our experience has been soured by that. Overall I would recommend this place as it has very tasty dishes, but I would definitely stay clear of many dishes or risk disappointment, especially when ordering to take away.

Food was absolutely gorgeous, brown crab and king prawns were so so tasty in the garlic butter. Made a mess but was well worth it.

We choose the meal for too and top it up with king prawns…AMAZING SEASONING!! We had Brooke helping around and she’s great, very attentive and nice, definitely a place to come back and soon

I’ve been here with my girlfriend a few times now and it’s been delicious every time. Special thank you to Vera who was so lovely and attentive. Definitely one of our favorite spots in London. Will be coming back very soon!

Our first experience. Small Restaurant, but very busy. Only sea food is served. No cutlery or crockery, food is prepared, cooked and served in a type of bags. Of course one cannot use cutlery to eat this sort of food. You can select from mild to very hot and several flavours and side dishes. You are also given an Apron to wear protect your dress. The tasted fantastic and good quantities. You can take your own wine, but there is a corking charge of £5. The service was good. Advisable to book in advance.

OK you need to understand this is a very casual restaurant which just focuses on great crab and other seafood, but the focus is crab, done Creole style, from mild to extra spicy. You ae going to wear a bib, eat it steamed from a plastic bag, and get your hands dirty. If you don't like that style of eating then you won't enjoy it. But if you do then you will be in heaven. I can understand that for many english people their idea of eating crab is a cold crabmeat sandwich, but there is so much more to crab than that and this restaurant - or should it be called a casual diner - simply focuses on well cooked and sauced crab. One of best meals I have ever had and I lived in China for 20 years. For those people complaining about price you should go to a fishmonger and try and buy a brown crab, they cost £30 raw. If you want a fancy couples restaurant serving king crab try Beast and pay £150 each.

I called to book a table for an anniversary dinner as we both love Snow crab and there are very few restaurants that you can get this item. I booked 5 weeks in advance and at the time of booking I asked whether they would have all of the menu available especially Snow crab and was told this wouldn’t be a problem. A couple of days before I was called by a very abrupt person basically telling me not to be late as they were fully booked. I was told they would keep my table for 15 minutes. This was not a call I was expecting and should have, and could have been handled so much better especially as I booked so far in advance. When we ordered I was told they had 1 snow crab left which I was not best pleased about. So we ordered 1 snow crab and 1 King crab which they said was the best crab in the world. I have eaten both and can tell you that Snow crab is the best. We also ordered a bottle of house white wine at £15 and was asked whether I wanted an ice bucket? Nobody asked us whether we had eaten at the restaurant before. After a while a plastic bag of King crab, prawns and clams was brought to our table. We were told that they had run out of Snow crab so would we like a portion of prawns or clams on the house. Of course, prawns or clams are an obvious substitute for Snow crab. So we had to share 1 crab instead of 2. The crab was well cooked as was the rest of the seafood but when you book a restaurant specifically for one item and have been told it wouldn’t be a problem, it comes as a big disappointment especially at the prices charged. They give you a tub with crab pickers and scissors? No kind of nut crackers or mallet although they have a mallet in their pictures. Also considering that I informed them that this was for an anniversary meal there was absolutely no reference or mention to us. Not even “Happy anniversary”. Other restaurants, make a big thing of special occasions. The staff were attentive and apologised but I have to say that I would not eat here again. Mask wearing at all times from the staff seemed optional. I would order a takeaway. Hopefully they would have Snow Crab available. If you have eaten in the crab shacks in the USA as we have many times this will be a complete let down, and is nothing like that at all.

Don’t usually like to leave a bad review on a restaurant that I have been recommended but to spend over £100 and not be satisfied was quite frustrating. The waitress didn’t know much about the restaurant, two of the dishes we wanted was not in stock so I took the waitresses recommendation which I now regret. Small portions, severed in a plastic bag with no option for a plate:bowl, plastic cutlery and drinks served in plastic drinks. If I knew I was going for street food and I paid around £45 I would have left a better review. Won’t be visiting again.

We ordered a whole lobster - the claws were missing -which compromise a large amount of the flesh - so under the trading standards I am surprised that they can call it a whole lobster. We ordered the prawns as a starter - though on 5 smallish prawns for £5. Also the scallops - they were awful in some kind of batter - but had been thoroughly ruined. Then the lobster as stated - only a few mouth fulls for £30. And a snow crab which was nice - but should have been half the price. Would NOT go there again - advise people to see alternatives to this.

We found it to be quite expensive for low quality seafood. We were really surprised that people were raving about it however it seems to cater to the people who cant really afford seafood done well and properly. Their way of cooking is very basic and use far to many sauces. Real Seafood basically needs nothing but the seafood itself.

It was our first visit based on friends recomandations. All food was amazing, especially the snow crab. Anna and Caroline provided lovely service making sure we have everything we need. Will definitely go back for a delicious meal.

The best seafood restaurant in town. Excellent and friendly customer service. Hospitality 10 out of 10. Food, presentation, quality, quantity and taste was incredible. My first time going. Will definitely be visiting again.

This is a small gem in North Cheam just near Sainsbury. The food is georgeous and you can bring a bottle of wine and the corkage charge is only a fiver. I can't fault anything 👍👍

What a treat and a gem of a place! My husband and I ordered the local brown crab, blue swimmer crab, handful of clams (plus sides) and loved each mouthful and every single minute of our meal today. The concept is brilliant - no plates, knives & forks, just a bib and your hands. No wonder each mouthful was so morish! The manager, Anna, was an excellent host too and made our experience so much more enjoyable. If you love crab and/or shellfish, this restaurant must not be missed. Try it! We'll certainly be back and have decided we'll be trying the King Crab at our next visit, cannot wait!

My first visit today and there’s no doubt it’s just entered my top 5 restaurants. Food was incredible! My 5yr old granddaughter loved the lobster and prawns. We had calamari as well. We will definitely be back very soon.

My first time so wasn’t sure what to expect but I was amazed Anna the manager guided us through the menu and the food was outstanding, it’s a small restaurant so you need to book in advance Anna was very busy so we didn’t have time to chat to her but I’m sure she’s come from a Michelin star restaurant she was very efficient. I will definitely be back

Tastier and more flavoursome than Loch Fyne. First time to TFC and Annie was fantastic, patient and made some great recommendations. Must try for all!

We hadn't booked regrettably and Wednesday's especially is a busy day for this restaurant. However, the owner managed to squeeze us in ( 4 of us). The service and customer interaction - superb. The choice of food and recommendations - amazing.The quality and freshness of the food - outstanding. We couldn't stop eating, 4 lobsters, lemon & pepper fries, calamari and prawns later - we were all seriously full. A well run local restaurant - how refreshing.

I recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers out there don't mind using their hands to eat! Great atmosphere and good customer service, and quick service! Small venue but big on flavours!

Went for my birthday and experienced the most amazing flavours of lobster and prawns steamed in the whole shebang sauce with corn on the cob accompanied by lemon pepper fries. What an absolutely wonderful seafood place. Not fancy but the food is 10/10. Have to commend the staff too, especially Anna who was attentive and lovely all evening long, despite it being busy. First time here, will definitely be back and soon!!!

Attended theis restaurant with hubby for my bday. Well what can I say, I didnt think it would taste soo good n flavoured. We enjoyed 2 lobsters and prawns with sides. Price is for the seafood, I guess it's just that good standard. Customer service also very good on a busy Saturday night.Thoroughly enjoyed and definitely returning. Good seafood. Good flavors. The service was good. The flavour wasn’t anywhere near the original store in Harrow. But the service compensated for the food. It was an alright meal. But I cannot wait to go back to the one in Harrow. If you have the time for it, please try the one in Harrow.

Came with my younger brother as a last meal before I go back home to Cornwall. I have never ever tried a restaurant quite like this. The Fat Crab is a seafood restaurant that serves all of their food in plastic bags...rip open the bag, smell the incredible spices in the sauce and dig straight in with your hands! Vast selection of seafood from blue swimmer crab, spider crab, king prawns, mussels, to three whole Tristan lobsters! Choose your spice, sauce, and add a handful of clams and king prawns to your bag, and you are set for a dinner like no other! BYO beer and wine too! Although this place is slightly pricey, the quality does not disappoint AT ALL! FOH staff are polite and helpful (shoutout to Anna who is an amazing member of the team), YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! And if that doesn’t convince you, there’s a Spoons over the road

The waitress who was serving me and my family made us feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable from when we first arrived. Whilst we was ordering me and my sister decided to share something of the menu, and also got 3 other starters between us, we asked if the food we was sharing could be put into two separate bags instead of one, she looked at us and laughed sarcastically and said i know your trying to save money but we can’t do that. I was very shocked at her assumption we was trying to save money because that wasn’t the case we just wanted to share something and have it separated. We didn’t expect to be laughed at and told we are trying to save money. She then proceeded to stare at us the whole time we was eating our food which made us feel even more uncomfortable!Fat crab needs to invest in new staff ASAP as this has made me never want to return again and its a shame. No customer service skills at all, i was very disappointed. On a positive note the food was nice but i will not be returning to be spoken to how i was today.

We came here on a Saturday lunchtime, it was busy with many tables already booked in advance. We all had the crab and it was absolutely delicious, but very very messy! Your seafood comes to the table in a plastic bag, you tear it open and then just use your hands, the hammer and fork to devour it! There’s no plates, or glasses, (just plastic cups) as you would probably break both by bashing your crab! There’s a big roll of kitchen paper on the table and plastic aprons....and you will need all this! We loved it, but eating very messy, sauce covered food with your hands may not be for everyone, so maybe be careful who you invite along and I wouldn’t recommend it for a first date!!!

My friend originally booked a table for four but another friend decided to join as well. My friend rang the restaurant in the morning of the same night to ask them to add another person to our reservation, we got there on time and a rude waitress by the name Gemma was there, she said that someone put our reservation down for 3 people instead of 5 so we waited another 20 minutes to be seated which was ridiculous. You could see the restaurant was disorganised as they were getting people’s orders wrong and the staff looked poorly trained.

I'm a lover of lobster and wanted to try out this restaurant. It's a hidden gem!

Went there to satisfy my seafood cravings and I’m not disappointed. Ordered the feast for two (lobsters). I got mine in garlic butter, and my friend got his in the shebang sauce. I got my fries in the cajun seasoning while he got his in lemon pepper.

But really great seafood. You are given a plastic bib for obvious reasons! and a roll of kitchen paper and you are ready to go. We had King Prawns, two with garlic butter and one with the whole shabang sauce, some fries to share and ice cold soft drinks! The king prawns are huge, of great quality and taste absolutely delicious. The restaurant is not that big and so gets full but we were seated immediately even though it was early Friday evening. Your order comes quickly and I cannot fault the service. We loved it. Excellent!

I visited the fat crab for my birthday.

My daughter and i love seafood! so i decided to take my daughter to this restaurant as a treat - mother and daughter date. So i sent her an invite for food and cocktails - and took her to the fat crab....as a surprise. I had booked inadvance. So iturn up with mydaughter who was very pleased...first thing i notice is that there staff are not professional..quite young. Drake music blaring...and quite small space between the tables. Anyway made our order...when the drnks came it was just in cans and plastic cups. No cutlery or anything....the food came before the cutlery did. We had the lobster.......well the lobster was in poor shape....it was rass small....and tough. Well overpriced for a small lobster...take the head and belly out...it was just a bit bigger than a king prawn! It was loaded with roe eggs...and too much green waste!! yuk! The experience was not good..and the staff were just not bothered. When i gt my bill the young girl was too busy pulling her jeans up in her crutch!!! No wipes until you paid the bill and not even a finger bowl to wash off your hands....as you got to get down and messy to eat. the toilet was unisex...nope this was just unpleasant - and you cant even get a cocktail!

The waitresses are extreamly rude and arrogant. They don't know how to talk to customers. The first time I went there, I ended up leaving without buying anything. I decided to give them another chance yesterday and they proved me right. I was so traumatised by the way they spoke to my friend and I. They could make a lot more money if they get rid of the staff there and replace them with better trained staff. I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life. They should know that without customers, there will be no FAT CRAB!!!. It's terrible.

Arrived yesterday and asked whether they had a table for 2 people, and was immediately dismissed. Appreciate that a booking may have been needed however when I asked when is their next seating available, the manager just walks over to the staff and says 'just tell them we are full, turn them away' right in front of me!!

Brilliant. We took a spoon as no utensils brilliant all cooked in a bag. Our prawns where delicious yum the Juice was scrumtious (thanks to our spoons) would recommend loved it. Just delve in .

We went with a small group of friends and we booked, well advised. The restaurant was very clean considering how you eat the crabs. The food was delicious, we had the snow crab, prawns with the whole shabang. Food was excellent very taste. Food was not cheap but was good value for money. Can't wait to go again. On the negative side service was a little slow and hit and miss hence 4 stars.

Went here for a family birthday dinner and I was aware that the food is cooked in plastic bags and you eat with your hands straight from the bag. However it becomes disturbingly apparent how much plastic waste this restaurant chain must get through. The lobster bibs are also single use plastic and apart from wine glasses, plastic cups are offered with other drinks. They could quite easily cook the food 'en pappilotte' and still retain their quirky eat with your hands theme, and what's wrong with cloth bibs that can be laundered. It's ironic that they rely on seafood as the main selling point when as my sister in law pointed out, the bags could end up in the belly of a whale. Prices also very high for small lobsters at around £30 per person. I enjoyed the food but will not go back as I cannot condone the plastic waste.

Was a good experience. Loved the prawns and the 'whole shabang' sauce. The blue swimmer crab wasn't great, not much meat and too soft. Will probably try the Lobster next time, or maybe the local crab. Would have been nice to have the option for regular fries with no cajun spice, although I probably could have just asked them for plain fries. Will definitely be checking it out again for another seafood fix. May try the Harrow branch.

I booked a month in advance for Father’s Day and when we arrived they could not find our booking. The staff were extremely rude especially the Eastern European woman (could be the manager). They were very dismissive given the circumstances - they definitely will not be getting my money after this experience!

Excellent restaurant food top draw waitresses all very helpful nothing to much trouble all tables were full will be going there again loved the experience.

The food here is really great, but booking is absolutely essential. Be prepared to get your hands dirty too, it's all part of the fun.

I have been to this restaurant twice before so i was so shocked when i booked, after 2 weeks of planning, only to be called on the day and told they ran out of crab because of a busy Saturday -_____- LITERALLY 3 hrs before our booking, even though they ran out of crab the day before, they decided to call us 3 hours before.

Firstly I would say call in advance to book a table to avoid disappointment. I did this and came at 5pm on a Saturday; the restaurant was full. I went for the meal for 2 combo which is 2 x lobster, 2 sides and 2 x soft drinks. I also had calamari and the cajun prawns for starters. (I ordered another cajun prawns at the end because they are so good!) I have to say the highlight for me was the taste of the spice mix. I recommend the whole shabang mix and have it hot; tastes AMAZING! I also ordered a pot of spicy hot garlic butter; heaven. Smells really good when you walk in. I'd definitely return again. 10/10.

This is great food and you can eat it exactly how it is meant to be eaten! I will be back this weekend after my test run. They should open up a store in SE1!!

Food is absolutely amazing, we got the brown crab, prawns, clams, corn lemon pepper fries. Whole shabang sauce and hot. Super messy but wouldn't have crab any other way every mouthful was a party for my tastebuds. Anyway onto the rude waitress with the black bob; the restaurant was fully booked we arrived at 5:40pm but there were 3 empty tables for 4 which had bookings for 7pm. SO common sense and any ounce of resource would indicate allowing customers to sit at these table informing them they need to be done by 7pm. Anyway we suggested this and the waitress was literally doing everything in her power to ensure we don't sit down. Eventually, another waitress stepped in and we got to eat our delish crab. Lets just say, if service charge was added to the bill it would have been swiftly removed.

I went to the Fat Crab in Sutton for a family dinner. There were 12 of us. It was a bit tight for this size group, but it still worked. Loved the concept of eating with no utensils and wearing a bib. It made it a fun family experience that we could all muck in and get messy. We went on a Wednesday, which I didn't know in advance was buy one get one free on the lobster. A pleasant surprise! It also meant that our final bill was very reasonable. Our bill came to less than £400 between 12 people and we had quite a few bottles of wine. The food was great. Especially the lobster and the fries.

Literally kept eating. It’s small so get there at a decent time. You have to book a table if you want to go in the evening and you get about 2hrs there. But totally worth it.

The seafood here is incredible, full of flavour and just so yummy. Can not wait to go back would highly recommend the prawns!

Six of us visited the Fat Crab in North Cheam on Sunday 10th February for lunch. Owner Suranga was on hand to take our orders and serve us. Food was delicious and fun as we used our fingers to peel prawns and pick crab meat. One of our friends enjoyed using the hammer to crack the crab. The prawns in Shebang sauce was yummy and two of us had crabs which was delicious. The fried sprats were well done. The sweet potato fries were tastier than the usual potato fries. They were especially yummy dipped in the shebang sauce. We felt that the mains were better than the starters apart from the squid stater and would like to see the squid as a main too. The baby crab and fried oyster starters were the only two dishes we thought not very good. Overall however, food and service were good. We left happy and satisfied and agreed we’d return soon.

Kids loved it. Messy and fun!!!! The clams and mussels were great, as was the crab of course. Lively atmosphere. It’s our 5th visit and we’ll be back.

Had a great experience at fat crab food tasted good. Something different from your average, small restaurant service was okay they give you 1hour and 30 minutes to occupy a table.

We'd been wanting to come to the Fat Crab for some time after eating at another nearby Sri Lankan restuarant and we weren't dissapointed.

Wow wow and wow. Had an amazing time here. Food was absolutely delicious. I had prawns in garlic butter and lemon pepper chips, licked my lips throughout the meal. Lol. Also tried the crab and lobster and yes I will be coming back. Only problem here was the staff got the order wrong and over charged us but got sorted promptly.

Visited 03/12/18 the service I received was good and the gentleman/manager was very friendly and helpful. The food was ok ..the whitebait was delicious the rice crabs where not good at all felt I wasted my money getting those. The prawns lovely and juicey. The lobster and snow crab was not good at all overcòoked and of poor quality. However the shabang sauce was nice. The portion for the price is way too much. Definitely overpriced. I would not go again base on the prices..

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago based on all the positive reviews here on TA.

Went there with a friend and ordered the 1lb king prawns with some clams and went with the whole shabang!! The prawns were great and the meal is very filling, I even had left over which I took home. I tried the soft shell crab for starter which was also good. The staff were lovely and welcoming. I would recommend booking in advance as it is a little restaurant and can get busy.

First time at this restaurant but knew what to expect as we had experienced crab shacks in America. Crab comes in a plastic bag with all of the extras that you choose. We had brown crab which was absolutely delicious. Starters were Cajun prawns and Calamari, both very tasty. If you like nice white tablecloths and cutlery don't bother to go. Its paper table cloths, bibs, all the tools you need to tackle the crab plus your fingers. It's fun and its an experience. We will certainly be going again!

Been here a few times now and its great. The staff are friendly and actually now recognise us as familiar customers which is nice. Brought my family here from the states and they also loved it. Very tasty food and I must say the Lobster is much better than some of the more popular chains in London. Can’t wait to go again :)

Use once a fortnight.... usually empty. Good food . We tip well spend a erage £70. Try to get in wednesday .... no chance! Say booked up for 3 weeks on wednesdays. Ring when home and offer booking for next wednesday. Wheres any loyalty when you must be struggling other days.

First Time Love it love it and will go again, will recommend my friends and family to it. Its soo different and unique and thats always a good things.

My daughter had decided that we should go here for her birthday. She loves seafood. I have to admit I was a bit wary. Not that I had anything to worry about. The food was great and it was certainly a different eating experience. Having your food delivered in a bag and eating with your fingers certainly added to the experience. An enjoyable place to eat with staff that made you feel welcome. If you want something a little different I would recommend it.

My boys chose to come here for their sister's farewell meal before starting university.

I had heard so many good things about this restaurant from friends and family and finally got round to trying it. All I can say is that I would struggle to go anywhere else for shellfish after eating here. The food is incredible, staff are brilliant and I left a very happy customer.

Found this place by accident – and what a lucky break! Amazing food – several varieties of crab, lobster, amazing prawns. All fresh today and individually cooked to your taste. No plates, no cutlery, served in the bag it's cooked in and really piping hot. Choice of sauces, wide range of sides and great service. And keep an eye out for the specials – I would recommend this place to anyone – just make sure you book ahead, it's getting popular.

We wanted a fun lunch and gave The Fat Crab a try on a friend’s recommendation. We were not disappointed! The meals are cooked and come in large plastic bags which you tear open at the table. The sauces are chosen by you and the level of spiciness and then make sure you have the bib on as you use your fingers rather than cutlery! Great fun and my king prawns were delicious with a medium Cajun sauce accompanied by lemon and pepper fries!

We had a whole brown crab with garlic butter sauce and a whole blue swimmer crab with lemon pepper medium spicy sauce. Cajun sweet potato fries on the side. Beers. All for just over £50 for two. Bloody amazing, we will be back and we will bring our friends.

We were there last Friday and the service was terrible. First of all the wine,was warm and we asked to put it in the freezer for a bit, once our food arrived ( over cooked) we had to asked for our wine. Twice I had to tell the waitress to empty the bucket with shells as it was full. We also had to ask for extra tools to break the shells, only 2 were provided and we were a party of four. The restaurant was almost empty only us and another table. When we finished our meal the waitress didn't asked us if we wanted anything else as we were still finishing our wines I had to ask her if she could clear our table. She spent all evening playing on her phone. I think the waitress needs a lot of training in customer service. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends we spend nearly £130 for a terrible service.

No plates or cutlery needed here. Just a big bag of wonderful steamed crab (or lobster or prawns if you prefer) in a wonderful sauce with a side of fries. So simple, so tasty. Went for the Local Brown Crab and it was a great choice. Loads of wonderful sweet meat that seemed to go on forever. By the end of it, and despite the bib, I was covered in shell, crab and sauce and I couldn’t have been more happy. The Fat Crab is really more of an experience than a meal and that was definitely the case here. It’s not glamorous and it’s not cheap, but it’s unlike anything I have tried before. And I didn’t even have to go half way around the world for it, it was just ten minutes from home. Best meal I’ve had in years. I will be back.

Went last Wednesday for 2 for 1 lobster deal. Loved the lobster. Sweet potato chips and fried prawns excellent too. Great value. Be prepared for messy eating 😄.

First of all, yes this is a messy way to eat. But so much fun! Great seafood, lovely staff, you won't find anywhere like this for miles around here! Incredible fun - something different, something definitely worth trying. Lucky to have a place like this around here!!! If you love prawns, crab & crayfish...eat here! :)

Always wanted to try the Fat Crab and this was a perfect time as we had extra time at 5.30 pm! We had the restaurant to ourselves and the Cajun Jumbo prawns were very good start! The brown crab was the ultimate feast, we like it spicy so we went for extra hot, it way amazing! The lobsters were an excellent choice as well!

What a gem of a restaurant. Who would have expected to find a seafood restaurant in North Cheam . The food is served in a bag . Piping hot , no crockery or cutlery . Just paper towels and utensils to break shells etc .plus bib Zoe our waitress explained everything. The lobster was beautiful, plenty of meat and sauce divine.

Fabulous concept. No plates, no cutlery, just kitchen roll. Food is served in a plastic bag but hey, it works. Be prepared for lots of mess. Great menu with delicious seafood. Just do not wear white. Or take a first date there!

Had a totally disgusting and prejudice encounter with the Waitress from hell!! Despite being a really warm day we met the prejudiced Ice Maiden. Poor service, imitation Cajun and it was so bad we withdrew the waitress participating with the surprise Birthday cake. Which we hastily abandoned and aborted. Horrendous customer service as we were the only customers in restaurant. She ‘Never’ asked if we enjoyed the meal, or even coming to the table to check on us in an empty restaurant. Her prejudiced disposition I advise people of colour to Avoid!!! Compounded by a fact her personal hug and appearance leaves lot to be desired. Spent nearly £100 for Crap!

Me and my partner heard about The Fat crab from a friend and couple of months ago and today we finally got the chance to go. And to be honest I wish we went sooner. The staff, the set up and the food are amazing. I’m not that knowledgeable of seafood and the staff helped me make a decision through giving me there personal recommendations. Before ordering male waiter helped us understand the menu. My partner and I ordered the whole shabang seasoning one on mild and hot and the flavours were to die for. Every piece of seafood was infused with the flavours from the shell right through to the meat. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time as the service and food were excellent. The get tuck on vibe is very much apparent as there is no cutlery or plates but tools for the seafood. It made me feel as if I was at home and wouldn’t be judged for using my hands. Honestly I had the best night at The Fat Crab and will be returning very soon

Omg the best seafood! No plates or cutlery. The seafood is cooked in bags and you just tuck in. So tasty and so much flavour. The staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. Portion sizes are just right. Really happy with the food here

We went to this restaurant after heard from my friend at work. We ordered rice crabs and fried calamari as starters and blue swimmer crabs, prawns and mussels as main. They were very delicious and reminded me of my childhood in my country. One of the best seafood restaurant with a reasonable price.

No cutlery, no plates. Just a table, a roll of tissue, a bib and a bag full if delicious food.

I am originally from South America where we have the best and freshers seafood and when We cooked, We add so much flavour.

Visited The Fat Crab with the family to celebrate my mum's birthday.

Visited 2 times. For a start the prices are very expensive given that there is not much cooking skill in steaming crustaceans or molluscs in a plastic bag.

Went for promotion of 241 on Lobster on Wednesdays. Very welcoming, fun atmosphere, tasty food with lots of mess and giggles in the room!

First visit to the fat crab ,pre Mothers Day dinner, ordered deep fried cockles which were lovely and tasty, then I ordered 1lb king prawns with a few mussels thrown in with garlic butter delicious and plenty prawn ,no plates here it comes in a plastic bag a bit messy but you’ve got your bib on so no messing on your clothes, staff were very helpful and friendly place was really busy, would definitely be back only trouble is I live in Scotland so will definitely be back on my return to London.

We were invited by friends to try out this new restaurant and were pleasantly surprised.

Really lovely reception walking in, straight away greeted with a smile. Explanation of how the food ordering works was clear. Food was yummy, fast and fun to eat! Thank you for a lovely Thursday evening!

After our 3rd visit to the fat crab I can honestly say i can't fault it at all.
