We had the modern afternoon tea. There was lots of food and it was very tasty.

Not cheap but good value - great staff, comfortable seating in bar and seperate restaurant. Very welcoming.

I don't like to leave bad reviews, however I emailed them twice and spoke to them via Facebook and have been ignored. We had an awful meal. We had friends over and they wanted to go somewhere nice for food. Having had previous good experiences we booked there and I was so embarrassed at recommending it as the service was awful! The starters were fine but then we saw no staff... all the staff put their efforts in to the bottom less brunches now, so if you're going for normal food you are totally neglected. The main meal came and 1 had salmon which was overcooked and covered in herbs. Another meal came wrong so we told the waitress. She came back and said if we wanted the right meal it would be at least a 25minute wait... when everyone else had theirs. We agreed to keep the meal that originally came, but no apology, no offer of a refund, no free drink etc. We then ordered puddings, after 40 minutes of not turning up we asked for the bill to be met with a rude waiter telling us it would arrive any minute. We said we wanted our bill. It came over and still had all the puddings on, when we asked for it to be removed the receipt was snatched from us and the waiter huffed. He then returned and told us the service charge had been added to the bill. We laughed as there was noway we were paying that, the service had been shocking! We told the girl on the till we were not paying it and wanted it removed. The drinks also took ages to come, a good 20minutes. A really disappointing evening, which was expensive, no compensation to keep their customers happy and a manager who couldn't care less as he ignores emails. I won't be returning and will not be recommending there to anyone again.

I sent this email to the Fat Boar without going down the public review route to hive them the opportunity to resolve my complaint. I had an email back askjng for my phone number. I never recieved a call. Hence going public with it now. Below is a copy of my complaint.... In August my family and I booked your restaurant for Christmas Day in Mold. A table of 10 at 1.30pm. My husband spent the whole of Christmas in hospital and was allowed out for a few hours on Christmas Day to celebrate with our family. My mother is in a Care home and sadly on the last minute was unable to come with us and we understood we would not get this refunded. We arrived to be immediately disappointed in the Christmas decorations or lack of them! A Christmas cracker does not make for a festive table. That was the sum of the table decor. The arrival nibbles were served in good time. After 40 minutes a family arrived at an adjacent table. Our starters were served, and our main. Starter of 'crispy' duck was not crispy. It was two small wet blobs of duck. So much so that my son queried it as it was advertised as 'crispy duck leg ' Main- disappointing mix of turkey, lots of veg and the smallest 'roast' potatoes of around 1" and a 2" ones...two per person. These 'roasts' did not appear in any way roasted. We had 2 x children with us age 1 and 2. Because of the excessive long wait between courses the two children were up and down and we needed to take it in turns to take them out to the beer yard for a run around and to keep them entertained. By 4.15pm my husband who had been in his wheelchair for the whole 'experience' was now in a lot of pain waiting for his dessert. I chased up our desserts with a waitress advising my husband was only supposed to be out of his hospital bed for 3 hours. The table adjacent who arrived much later than us were then served their desserts! I chased them up again and then also asked to speak to the manager. After waiting a few minutes the manager came (incidentally smelling strongly of cigarettes) and put the blame on the kitchen. To me running a restaurant is a joined up approach from all concerned. Waitress - they should notice we had waited longer and not just take desserts blindly from the kitchen to the table that had been there lesser time. Kitchen - should prioritise tables and underdstand who needs to be served first Manager - in charge of overall customer experience Desserts still didn't come so I got my husband ready to leave. Our desserts then started to come out at 4.30pm! 3 hours after our table was booked. We didn't have our desserts and my husband and i went to pay for our drinks. Leaving the rest of our family to have their desserts. Finding that just a bottle of prosecco had been taken off the bill I found was astounding. I asked for a further reduction but ultimately paid £620 for the saddest and worst Christmas meal and experience ever! My husband was sent home from hospital last Friday. Still very poorly. You sent me an email asking for feedback and I left one, however I chose to make it private as I appreciate you are a local business employing locals and wanted to give you the opportunity to respond privately. As I have not had anything in response and now my husband is home I thought I needed to send this email to raise these issues with you to give you the opportunity to put things right. I have eaten in your establishment several times and also recommended you to friends and family. We were all very disappointed in our experience. I look forward to hearing from you Regards Obviously I never heard from them. Shoddy experience and such a shame as we had eaten there many times previously with family, friends and work.

Great restaurant, Jacques service had been great every time we visit.

My husband and I visited the other day for a late valentines day meal together. We were welcomed by Adam who served us throughout, he was very helpful and professional. The food and overall service was excellent and we would definitely recommend this place to others.

Booked late Sunday afternoon, lucky to get a table. Arrived on time. A bit of a faff waiting for table. Waitress said order at the bar whilst waiting. Another waitress then took us upstairs. Our drinks arrived. We knew we wanted Sunday lunch but the starters kind of threw me they nearly all were spicy. Just wanted a bowl of soup. But eventually settled on the bang bang chicken. Absolutely delicious. Had a little kick but thoroughly enjoyed. Then had turkey dinner. It was huge! Didn’t like the red cabbage or what I think was beetroot and the gravy was very thick but lovely meal and like I said it was huge. Couldn’t manage a dessert was suitably stuffed, however did fancy the baileys cheesecake but didn’t give in……hubby paid and as usual gave our waitress £5 tip. Sat in the car and was reading the receipt. Bad news there was a service charge of £3.50 which we knew nothing about. Good news they forgot to put the first two drinks on that the waitress brought from downstairs. So ironed out……😘 All in all lovely experience, nice ambience, the ladies loo were fabulous, all the usual things from your own bedroom, pads, sprays even straighteners! Will definitely go again….but will watch for the service charge…..

Me and my partner came here today to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. My partner has eaten here before and enjoyed it but unfortunately we can’t say the same for our experience today. When we walked in we were greeted by a very respectful lovely bartender who sat us down and took our drink order I ordered a cocktail he ordered a Coke but was given a Pepsi max can’t complain there as he likes Pepsi but it wasn’t what we’d asked for A waitress came to take our food order and we’d ordered starters and mains. I received my starter but my partners never came I had to go to the bar and ask the bartender if his starter was coming he apologised thoroughly again very respectful but our starters were just okay. By the time our mains came his burger was watery in the middle he’d asked for his burger without tomato or gherkins but had both on the burger both of our fries were cold but filled with hot oil made no sense the chicken from my fajita was so chewy no flavour the sauce in it was so bitter. For what we received the price was ridiculous almost £80 for inedible food Unfortunately we won’t be returning can’t fault the service we received but as for the food it was just disappointing

We had an excellent lunch from the pre theatre menu at the Fat Boar. Two courses for £15 or three for £18. Excellent value for really good food. The portions were larger than expected. The service was very good too, the staff are very friendly. We will definitely be back

the food was 5 star food was amazing i don’t remember if i chewed my food it was that nice. will be coming again 100% worth the money.

Had a really nice meal. But, there was a horrible manager on shift who made a sarcastic comment and was mean to my partner because she must have took too long walking up the stairs for his liking. No one should be treated this way or spoken to like that, and I feel bad for the staff who have to put up with him.

Excellent food great atmosphere would reccomend

Wonderful food and a wonderful experience, staff are friendly and ready to serve. Food was amazing and well worth the money which is reasonable priced and suited to any budget. A must visit for any occasion. Service with a smile. Atmosphere top notch. My only criticism is they have to many tables upstairs probably to maximise space. This is not a really issues if you like a more cozy environment.

I went to an event in January with a couple of friends, 5 small plates, each paired with a cocktail. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was on point, the staff were super friendly and catered to our dietary requirements. It was our first time visiting, I can’t wait to go back

Poor service, food was nice but small portions, wife ordered the salmon £18 but was no bigger than a fish finger definitely not worth £18 We were sat upstairs and seemed like we were forgoten about, oreded drinks but ended up going down to pay and leaving as drinks never arrived Hopefully just teething problems

Nice clean pub,let down by charging £5.45 for a pint of Guinness, which was £2 more than other local pubs

After a cancellation elsewhere, the Fat Boar Mold, managed to get a large party of us all in and at last minute. They went above and beyond. Couldn’t fault the food, it was georgeous and great service.

Lovely Sunday roast an absolute steal at £10. Could've been a bit warmer but overall a very good meal and service 👌

We had an amazing evening here. We booked the Prosecco and platters and from the moment we sat down the drinks were flowing . The food was stunning and the Service was faultless and the staff were attentive and friendly. The whole atmosphere was excellent and it was obvious to see that the staff enjoy working there. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant was very busy but food arrived quite quickly Enjoyed the food but I prefer my chips done a little longer but that’s a personal thing and these were quite pale. Otherwise excellent and will return.

Wonderful food, helpful staff, reasonably priced - with my lovely friend Helen as my birthday treat. Slightly loud but that was my sensitive ears, and it’s a popular place! Lovely clean toilets too ☺️

Modern and cosy interior as we went in. We were quickly shown to our table which is always a good impression. Went outside into a nicely built row of huts with heater and televisions because we had a dog with us. Quick service for food and drink. Highly recommend Korean Rolls and Halloumi Fries. Brilliant overall and would come again.

Excellent greek night on Friday 25th Oct food was good but kebab lacked flavour,it needed spicing up,the rest of the food was great,cocktails were excellent staff very good,knives need sharpening or replacement though ASAP would definitely go back

I called in for a drink and a quick bite to eat when passing by. This Fat Boar has suffered from those that had previously visited the Ruthin version and had a poor experience. It is nothing like that. The staff are very friendly and just a thanks to Atlanta!

Back again for Sunday lunch ,fantastic food ,excellent service,and pleased to say cutlery spot on,priced well,can't fault the place ,best meal I've had in ages ,the beef was just melt in the mouth ,cooked all fresh and extremely tasty,we will be back as its our place of choice now,thanks 👍

Absolutely awful My wife retired last Friday, and we booked with good friends the Spanish evening What a complete let down!! We knew we were going in the conservatory, but we're placed right by the sliding outside door, it was BALTIC We closed the door over 40 times, no heat curtain so ate our tapas with our coats on. We asked for a move but could not be accommodated. The worst offenders for not sliding the door closed were staff!! The conservatory needs warmth when so cold. Each course came with a cocktail, there was 4 of us but the first course came with 2 drinks so we asked for the other 2 They eventually came and the next course came with 3 drinks? The food was not hot, very uninspiring quite plain to be honest We were apologised to numerous times but the evening was a complete let down I have messaged the Fat Boar directly and have had no reply after several days?? I was totally disappointed with the evening, the customer service was non existent and ruined my wife's special occasion. We will never return, would highly recommend no one else uses the restaurant and the manager and staff need some serious education on how to look after customers Totally let down, cannot believe no one has responded to my message about our experience? Vote with your feet, if you want a beautiful meal try the Millstone Fat Boar you were shocking!!

My husband and I had a lovely evening at the fat boar last night. We both ordered the fillet steak special and both steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking . The service was great and we were looked after well.

Attended a wedding reception here recently and really enjoyed it. The cocktails on arrival were lovely and the food was top notch. All the staff were attentive and friendly and the outdoor area is great. Would definitely visit again.

Dropped my mum off here for a meal with the rest of the ladies in the family,the pub was lovely! The staff were excellent and extremely polite and helpful.All of the girls said they had a great time and can't wait to go again,and the pub and beer garden were delightful! Cheers to all the staff! The wait staff are amazing, I (vegan) went with my friend (Gluten free) as there were multiple items that were stated as vegans and GF. When ordering we were informed the menu was wrong and some dishes either wernt vegan or not vegan and gf. We found a dish and was told it would be fully vegan and GF, and it was definitely gluten free but after eating we noticed there was feta hidden under the hummus. Cut to me being sick in the Poundland car park! The food was comped but BE CAREFUL if you go if you have any food allergies or intolerances. The wait staff couldn’t have been better but the kitchen clearly don’t care.

The first couple of visits the service was excellent, very attentive, unfortunately the last visit on a Thursday late afternoon, service was dreadful. Apparently short staffed, we were left with dirty pots for ages, I requested hot water/tea which didn't arrive at all. Very little service all squashed on a little table etc, whereby our previous visits were much more attentive and given larger table for just two of if us, this time there were four of us, with same space!! Food for the afternoon teas was excellent.

Excellent food nice staff ,been here a few times ,definitely worth a visit,if I had to say anything wrong it was the cutlery, just cheep stuff like a school canteen cutlery, I asked for better knife and got one straight away, apart from that ,no complaints at all ,we will definitely be coming back. Terrible food, terrible service. Will not be going back ever again. No food menus were offered when first sat down. After 15 minutes of waiting for a food menu and drinks order I got up and asked for a food menu and ordered my own drink's which I paid for there and and then as no tab was offered. When we eventually ordered the food it took well over 50 minutes to arrive at the table. We had ordered the fajitas and despite being promised the chicken would be strips (it was anything but). Looked more like it had had been cut from a whole cooked chicken. It’s worth noting The Fat Boar in Mold had been closed previously for a while as they had received numerous bad reviews prior so they wanted to start a fresh. Safe to say no improvements have been made and if anything has got worse which is a real shame.

Yesterday had an amazing meal with excellent service. So much so asked them to increase the tip from the standard 7.5%. Today…well what a difference a day makes. !! Given the wrong menus, had to go to the bar to get drinks, sat in a conservatory with no roof and it started to rain and no response to closing the roof. Had to go and order food when it was table service and ask for more drinks. Chicken schnitzel was tiny then to top it off I said I wasn’t paying the standard 7.5% tip so he took it off but I did say add on 2.5% and now realised he added on 7.5%. Will be a while before I return if at all!

Booked restaurant for the Italian night out with friends. When we arrived they sat us outside and when I asked to be seated inside they told us they were fully booked. I would of expected to be told when booking that we would be seated outside. The first 4 courses were ok but nothing special. The 2nd and 3rd course of food was cold. I messaged the Fat Boar the next day to express my disappointment and they haven't even bothered to reply. Very disappointing customer service. Certainly would not recommend.

Booked a table for 4 in the restaurant area when my wife and I arrived our friends had been shown to a table in the bar area, we were moved on my request or drinks came (why do restaurants mark their wine up so much), we ordered our food, the starters arrived quickly and they were huge, starters despatch our mains arrived except for 1, after five minutes we were told that the kitchen had missed the order and they were prepping it now, my friend was offered a compensatory drink, 20 minutes later his meal (a medium rare steak) arrived, it was obviously well done not medium rare as ordered but not being prepared to wait another 20 minutes for a correctly cooked one he ate it as we had already finished our meals. A pleasant evening slightly marred by an unfortunate error.

My Daughter treated me to a Sunday Roast for my Birthday, Very pleasant helpful staff, nice clean interia and toilets The meal itself was excellent, My only complaint and that is just me No John Smiths, But it won't stop me returning

Had the £10 August afternoon tea deal. The food was fabulous, all home made and plenty of it. Would definitely recommend. Great value for money..

I had hair in my food, and it was look like they have not redo my meal, only take off hair and give me back. No apologize like discount, offer or voucher only said sorry.

First time here with my family for a Sunday dinner. First impressions - the place was very clean and lovely decor. We were shown upstairs and the space is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble ☺️. The food came quickly and was delicious 😋 there was no room for dessert this time as the portions were big but we are planning another trip very soon to see what else is on the menu.

Very friendly staff, food average. Had the Aussie pie, which was extremely salty and had a pastry lid that was about an inch thick. Hardly any filling. Had the currywurst to start which was served in a tomato soup like sauce which was very good, wished they did this as a soup option.

Bit of confusion with my order but soon rectified. We had 2 takeaway afternoon teas and I must admit they were the best I’ve tasted and definitely the best value for money around here. £10 each, I’ll be going back and recommending it to friends. Thankyou chef

Went there today with my son and partner. We ordered the mocktail for my 7 year old son (the one with candy floss), the drinks came and then 10 minutes later a waiter came and said they had made the wrong drink and wanted to replace it. They questioned how much my son had drank and it turned out that they had made him an alcoholic cocktail instead of the mocktail version. Unless my partner questioned why they wanted to know how much he drank, I don't think they would have said about the mix-up. I was in the toilet when this happened and when I found out I put a complaint in, as this in my eyes is a very big mix up. I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, and it gets rectified. I think a menu change needs to be made if there are similar cocktail and mocktail version of drinks that can easily be mixed up. I never usually complain as I understand mistakes happen, but I can't over look this one.

What a great Sunday dinner. Food was fantastic and the service and staff brilliant. Can't get over how much we got for £10 each.

This was the first time I’d eaten here,but I’d heard good things. They weren’t wrong. Our family were gathered for a birthday meal ,all unlucky thirteen of us ,but we were far from unlucky. Right from the start,the lovely staff were helpful and accommodating,allowing us to cover our section in banners and balloons. Our main server I believe was Benji and he’s an absolute star,couldn’t have wished for a more professional,genuine and terrific person to serve us. The food was really great,with a great selection to suit a party ranging from age six up to seventy. Great cocktails may I add! All round a superb experience thank you Benji.

The food was delicious, the service was very prompt & professional. Great value for money. A special mention to the waiting on staff, they were chatty & very friendly, we were made to feel very welcome & will definitely be visiting again.

What a difference in this place. We came in January and had a poor experience it heard that there was a new manager in place, lucky enough he was working when we visited this time and our experience was completely different, Lance was so welcoming and attentive it was a breath of fresh air returning to this place. The atmosphere was second to none. It was busy on our visit but the place was ran like clockwork, no one was turned away on arrival, Lance made sure he accommodated every walk in and bookings. Really upped their game. Food is absolutely brilliant especially the flatbreads which are huge - such good value for money. Only thing for me is more staff on the bar would be good during busy times because of everyone having cocktails. But staff are super friendly. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a fab evening we all had on Friday. We took over the top floor, Finn was fantastic at looking after us, keeping the 2 x £10 cocktails going and generally making sure we were all well fed. Thank you!! We were very well fed, and the portions are huge 🤣! Great space to party in if you're a large group 😊

Fantastic meal and so much to choose from on the menu. Excellent service from the staff. Had the best Steak & Ale pie I’ve ever tasted. Will certainly be going back again soon.

A large party visited last night for a dear colleagues retirement party, we were seated in the upstairs private dining area. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff or Manager, and the 2 cocktails for a tenner were a big hit. Special thanks to young Finn who looked after us all evening. We will be back.

Top class service, the meals were superb and very reasonably priced. I can't rate this place highly enough! Credit where it's due. Please keep these standards up as there are so few places around these days that are worth bothering with.

Always been a fan of The Fat Boar, but on this particular occassion we had the BEST time! We came for the Prosecco, Pornstar and Platter afternoon. We had the AMAZING Finn (double N!) serving us all avo/evening and he was just the best! Big personality and an absolute credit to the Boar. He helped in making our time enjoyable, a giggle a minute. Makes a huge difference when you have someone with great customer interaction. The platter was delicious. Cocktails were lush. We did have a bad batch of pornstars, mentioned it to the manager and he remade us a fresh batch. All round WONDERFUL afternoon and fantastic service!! Well done Team Boar 🐗 👏

What a lovely place food was amazing staff very frinedly

Fillet steaks were very chewy, took them home for the dog, pepper sauce tasteless. Sticky table ! Still waiting for dessert. Will not be rushing back .

Catchup with friends over a fabulous meal and cheeky cocktail

Food was lovely, had a sharing platter and cocktails with friends. Finn was excellent today. He was friendly and knew about all of the cocktails and offers. Jak also sorted us a table once our booking was over. Will visit again!

Wow! Visited for a Pre-theatre dinner, after a 7hour drive from Cornwall. Warm and cheerful greeting, main menu and the pre theatre menu to choose from. What incredible value, so tasty, and the portion sizes did not disappoint . Service was friendly and speedy too. Would highly highly recommend.

This review comes very much in two halves. First off, the food was excellent. The dishes were well thought out, well presented and very tasty. They were also served hot. No complaints at all on the food. On that basis alone we would eat here again. However….. We were told during the call to book a table, that they were quite busy but would be able to give us a table in the ‘conservatory’. Having never been there before, we thought that sounded like it would be an ok experience. Sadly the opposite was the case. The ‘conservatory’ was a dark room out of the back of the pub that had a sliding glass wall to one side. Not too bad on the face of it, but this room had a large tv in it, showing at the time, a rugby match. It also had a sliding door to the beer garden, and during our visit on a cool, rainy night this was constantly being left open by the passing throng which endlessly passed by. Most people had their coats on. The roof was like that of a caravan, with the sound of the rain being extremely loud. Just to complement this, there was at the time a group of men watching the rugby, and their language was to say the least coarse. We are not prudes by any stretch but we heard the expression ‘fu*king retard’ about 20 times during the meal. As an extra bonus as we were in the ‘conservatory’, our order wasn’t taken at the table, we had to, unlike other diners, go to the bar to order the food. The management need to make a decision here. Either they are running a restaurant type pub, or they are running a sports bar. The prices were restaurant standard. They should not be using this ‘conservatory’ for dining, as the experience is not the same as the rest of the pub, but the prices are. So to sum up, our experience was that of eating quality food, in the cold, listening to swearing of a high standard, with service being an afterthought.

We have just come home from a fantastic meal! We booked a table for 7 people at 2:00pm on 01/04/24. Customer service was outstanding we unfortunately were running late and called asking to move the table to 2:30pm they were VERY accommodating as I know it’s not easy with such a large table. Once we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome. They advised us on the menu and drinks and the best deals! The food came and NOT ONE person was disappointed! Very generous portions good quality ingredients and amazing service. As a family we were over the moon! What a great bank holiday treat! We are already in talks about when we can get together and go back! Thank you to all the staff and chefs for amazing service! You guys have really come back stronger than ever hats off to you!

My wife and I enjoyed dinner there on a Thursday night. What a fantastic experience, plenty of choices of drinks and food. The staff were pleasant and the venue was very good. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Considering the amount we ordered between us, the final bill was real value for money. We will return in the near future Thanks to all who made our evening

A late visit on a dreary February Sunday, nothing as too much. Great atmosphere, food and staff were attentive - one of the best Sunday Dinners I’ve had in while!

Turned up as a walk in for a table of 3, was told there was nothing available for another 4 hours so went elsewhere, but checked online after we’d left and we could book a table for 25 mins time. I would understand if it was busy inside but it wasn’t. Slightly confusing but took our custom elsewhere and had a lovely meal.

Attended for a meal with work, table of 16 and we all received our food and drinks at the same time, couldn't fault our service, hosted by Josh, Fin and Alex. The food was beautiful, cooked by Liam. Highly recommend.

Went for a meal for my company team building day. The staff were attentive of the needs of my staff and the quality of service was fantastic. The staff and I loved the food and the value for money was great with big portions. Thank you! We will definitely book again

A disappointing day where we were forgotten about by staff, food wasn't great and tables left uncleared for hours so we cleared our own. We are still waiting for the cocktail menu we were promised even now, so again we went looking for ourselves. Cocktails were lovely, although missing refresher sweets as they didn't have any! The food was OK, just not what we expected, and didn't meet the standards that it used to be. Our group was here for 5 hours, and between us, we spent over £350 and watched the disorganised chaos go on around us. Don't think we will be rushing back, which is a shame as we have loved this place over the years.
