All the food was not very nice indeed. Nothing was made from fresh. Had the steak and ale pie. The beef had been cut up into slices and then made smaller obviously roast beef left over from Sunday lunch, ( this was Monday evening. It was served with what looked like a grey torpedo of mashed potatoes which had neither milk nor butter in them and some green beans which were like rubber. Horrible. The pudding of apple crumble was watery with lumpy custard.

We stayed at the Old Parsonage, just a 3 min walk from here, and were not disappointed by the food on offer. The presentation was typical Pub food, but the taste exceeded the initial look of what was on the plate. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and would recommend it as a place to eat.

In local area on holiday with dog. Searched for dog friendly pubs to eat in and struck lucky first time. All four of us ordered fish and chips. Absolutely delicious. Huge piece of fish, lightly battered, crispy and not greasy. The tartar sauce was the tastiest I’ve ever had, and homemade too. Very friendly and helpful staff. If you’re wondering where to eat don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed ( unless you you like being a difficult customer)

This review is based on a single bad experience. I can’t comment on the general experiences felt, may have been just a bad day. My first complaint comes to how my payment was handled. As a resident of Scotland, the notes that I carry are Scottish. This seems only reasonable. To be denied the use of these in this establishment seems somewhat unfair. To add to this, the member of staff dealing with us said the manager could not accept my money, they only accept ‘British notes’. His words, not mine. Thankfully I am not nationalistic or this would have been taken further. As far as I last checked, Scotland is part of Great Britain? Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not a fan of ignorance. We sat down and decided to laugh it off. Our food was brought out to us. Minus my chips which I had to remind the waiter about. My wife found a long blonde hair in her baked potato. And later a bone in with her bbq chicken filling.I will add that the pie my father and brother in law had looked delicious and they confirmed this. The combination of these 4 things just made this a ‘terrible’ experience. If the rest of the table were to review, I’m convinced they would not give the same rating.

Went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration, most of the meals were very good, large and enjoyed, unfortunately i decided to try the lamb hotpot, expecting a dish of meat and veg topped with sliced potatoes,i was very disappointed that it was a small pot of meat and veg in gravy served with a side of cabbage, not the mixed root veg advertised on the menu, although tasty i would rename it 'the not a lot pot'. It should be made clearer actually what you are getting,i'm sure i am not the only person to have expected something a little different. Service was not the best, had to ask for desserts, and not even that busy. If i go again i would order the steak meal which looked really good.

Booked for my family for a late Sunday lunch. We had already pre-ordered our meats as they requested this prior to us arriving. We were seated next to the fire - sadly not lit and as the table was adjacent to the entrance we sat there shivering throughout the meal. We had to wait quite some time for our Sunday lunch but looked good, however, not very warm so time we were half way through cold. We all found the roast beef very gristly. My husband left most of his as that bad - this wasn't commented upon by the waiter. Not once during our meal did any staff come and as if everything was ok. Plenty of staff on duty so no excuse. We finished and waited and waited for the plates to be taken away and finally had to go to the bar to ask - still the plates remained until we asked again. When the chap took the plates we asked for the menu for desserts which arrived however we had to ask several times for someone to take our orders. All in all a very disappointed lunch. This was our local for many years until we moved out of the village - sadly we will not be returning. The pub is open all day serving food and if it had of been fully booked, we could of understand the poor service, however, this was not the case.

Our walking group were all seated comfortably for our pre-booked lunch in a warm and welcoming pub. But I have to say that my lamb hotpot was pretty ordinary when it came - no good chunks of long-cooked lamb under a crisp topping of sliced potatoes as I anticipated, rather a weird mix of bits of minced-up meat and veg with slices of anaemic potato in a tasteless gravy. The cabbage was quite nice though.

I took my mother and a friend for an evening meal at Farrington Inn we were greeted by friendly bar staff. We all ordered fish n chips when our meals arrived the batter looked like it had been reheated. On trying to eat our meal the batter proved to be tough and chewy with the fish inside all dried out. Not wishing to make a big fuss I quietly went to the bar to complain and invited the lady to inspect our meals. She agreed and was apologetic and offered us a 20% discount on our bill. Following this visit we would not want to return.

Came here for the first time after booking a table for a few friends to get together over dinner. When we arrived the staff were super friendly and although quiet, the atmosphere was pleasant. We all ordered drinks and food which arrived in good time and was good value for money. I had the chicken smoke stack which tasted pretty good, you get what you pay for so it's not fancy, but for £9.99, it was fine. We ate and let our food go down... At this point our empty plates had been on the table about 15mins and whilst it was quiet, no one came over to clear straight away or checked we were happy with our food prior to finishing. One lady did come over eventually and we thought our dinner had gone down enough to order dessert... However, when we went to order we were told the kitchen closed at 9 and we'd missed out by 5mins!!! No one at any point gave us a heads up or asked if we'd be wanting puddings so this was a real let down. She did pop over about 5mins later conceding she should have checked regarding puddings and did we want complimentary tea/coffees but we didn't take her up on the offer. It was such a shame as up until that point we'd really enjoyed the evening and if they'd just popped over to check on us we would've left feeling completely different.

We came here for a quick meal one evening - it was busy, but we got a table. The food arrived quite quickly and they were both good sized portions but the presentation rather let down what was quite well cooked food. The biggest downside was that every time the kitchen service door opened, there was a blast of greasy smelling, slightly smokey, air straight into the restaurant - a great shame, as that was rather unpleasant and marred the evening (we couldn't wait to leave) although it's something that can be sorted easily, in all probability. This diminished the overall impression, which is a great shame as there is real potential for this place to be good....but a few details need fixing first.

Been here a few times lately and it's becoming my new favourite place for a simple good value casual lunch. The service is excellent. Great food today, my only criticism is to do with the kids menu - last time we ordered the pizza from the kids menu, which was great and I think it was only £3.50, good sized portion. This time we ordered from the 'big kids' menu, which I think was £4.50 as my 2.5 year old wanted pasta and this was only on the big kids menu. It was such a small portion, not enough at all.

This used to be our local pub thirty years ago and we hadn't been for ages but on a visit home we've visited several times with different family members. The staff are friendly and the food (esp the jacket potatoes) is great as well as good value. Nice to see!

Family meal enjoyed at the Farrington. Food was not quite up to the usual standard. Garlic mushrooms were rock hard as was some of the Stack Chicken

This pub does really good food at very reasonable prices. The friendly owners have turned this establishment around and made it into a busy ,bustling, great place to eat. The locals love it and make good use of it. I live next door and really appreciate having somewhere reliable to take my guests without having to drive.

We called here for dinner as it happened to be on on our route home from Bath. Our first impressions on entering were of a pretty ordinary looking pub. We weren't particularly struck by the decor or the ambience of the place but we were hungry and had spotted the TripAdvisor sticker on the door. Quite a large menu, albeit mainly containing standard pub grub dishes. We both ordered the gammon steak, with pineapple rather than egg, and I must say it looked good when it arrived. We couldn't fault the gammon steaks at all! They were very tender and quite delicious and came with two rings of pineapple rather than just the one you often get with meals out. There were also chips, peas and grilled tomato. The chips were a little on the dry side but as I like lots of vinegar, it was not too much of a problem. All in all we really enjoyed our meals would happily have eaten it again on another occasion. We weren't very struck with the dessert choices (all a bit stodgy sounding apart from the profiteroles) so we gave them a miss. We found the service to be pretty good and reasonably quick too.

Had breakfast here before and really enjoyed so came back again. This time food wasn't very nice - couldn't finish breakfast as so horrible. Bacon, tomato and mushroom had awful burnt dirty grill taste. Egg wasn't cooked fully. Fried bread was doorstep of pure fat. Gently complained when staff member came to table to clear our half full plates but nothing done to sort for us. I won't be back.

The Farrington Inn is everything it should be. A friendly pub that serves good food & a range of drinks which are all at very sensible prices. There are no airs & graces in the bar that welcomes a host of old, young & very young people without judgement. So often I have walked into other bars with my two children only to be given a glance as if I had just rocked up with a mass of lepers in tow.For those wishing to enjoy the great outdoors, The Farrington Inn has a large garden with a swing for children. Inside the décor is what I would call “traditional pub”, with a large capacity to ensure you can be seated if ordering a meal.Food it typical pub grub of a good standard yet at reasonable prices. There are no long waits for service despite how busy it can appear (this is something that should not be taken foregranted). You are served with a smile & a sense their words are genuine when they hope you have a good meal. There may be people out there that have forgotten what a conventional pub is like & panic at the way a selection of locals sit around the bar, although this is neither a hindrance or a horror as you can get served very easily without feeling as if you were on somebody else’s turf.I have visited The Farrington Inn with just my wife, my family & even alone, & have enjoyed what is fast becoming a thing of the past; a good, honest traditional pub where quality is not sacrificed by having affordable prices.

We arrived without pre-booking but they happily arranged a table for 13 people without delay. Service was prompt and food was good as were the prices. I doubt if we will ever be in that part of England again but if we are, this is where we will eat.

A quiet pub but a pleasant atmosphere. Food was typical pub grub but nicely presented. We were there on a Thursday evening but it might be busier on a weekend.

One of the places near The Old Parsonage is the Farrington Inn. Cod and Fish for two was £12.50. Can't beat the price and the meal was good. This is basically pub food with decent value. Bit limited on beer on tap but was not a bad choice. Recommend the Inn for basic meal.

After driving past the Farrington Inn for literally hundreds of times I called by for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with both the food and the service. The Inn itself isn’t the prettiest or cosiest in the area, but for what was served it was very good value and good quality. Being cautious on what to order as so often what is described on the Menu is far different to that served up, I tried the Cod which was part of an offer of 2 for £12 which on eating I found to be exceptionally good for what was served. In fact we also called by for Lunch on the following day, mainly because all the other local establishments had stopped serving at 2 – 2.30 whereas we knew the Farrington would be open. This time I was more adventurous and tried the Lamb Chops, Mash & Veg, which was okay but not of the standard of the previous nights meal, which in all honesty wasn’t unexpected, but it was more than edible. Hence I conclude that for basic dishes the Farrington is to be applauded, but for something more special then going up market/price to say the Blue Bowl would have been better value/standard. That isn’t to say I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to the Farrington again, but to emphasis where I believe the Farrington fits into the market. My marking is based on the Dinner serving, whereas the Lunch serving would have attracted 3 Stars.

We went to the Farrington inn as it was close to where my partners family live. We had a lovely Sunday lunch, we all had something different, beef, chicken and pork and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the only little niggle i would have is that we had a very small dish of veg between three of us we could have done with a bit more.My partner and i had deserts i had steamed pudding and my partner had cheesecake, both very delicious.Good value for money too, will definitely go back again when down there next.
