Great food, very welcoming staff, loved our dinner there. Lots of choice and the specials menu was great too. I’m gluten intolerant and there was plenty of options for me to choose from, it makes a change as usually I’m limited to one or two options when I eat out. The dessert menu looked great too but the mains were so big we didn’t have room! Between the three of us we had steak and ale pie, BBQ ranch chicken and cod and chips, all were very tasty. Well recommended.

We were looking for a meal mid afternoon on a Saturday. And we were welcomed to a clean and tidy bar and garden in the Farringdon. Menu covered all kinds of tastes ond prices of food. Order and pay at bar with your table number. Food was served hot and quickly, table was cleared efficiently at end of meal. We had steak (rare) and all day breakfast both are recommended. Thank you, you fed two hungry travellers.

Not an especially attractive pub inside or out. The food was basic but there was a lot of choice and it was served very quickly. There were some other children swearing and being rude to ours, which put us off. A disappointing stop off on our way home.

Running late one evening, we rang ahead to ask if we could pre-order for arrival at "about 9pm". We could. When we arrived, it turned out they were out of a particular ingredient for one dish - so we were offered good alternatives and they were also happy to let me change the other order (having spotted a 'special' on the wall that wasn't on the online menu we'd used). Our revised order was more expensive but we weren't charged more. Our food (fish'n'chips, mushroom stroganoff) arrived promptly there after and was very good. The fish, in particular, was a very generous portion.

We met friends for lunch and we all had Sunday roasts. Roast chicken average, roast beef was stringy, gristly and inedible. Had to ask for more gravy which was thin and watery. Good quantity of food on plate but poor quality. Sticky toffee pudding was very good and well presented but could have been hotter.

we booked a table for 9 of us on Sunday. We were informed they might not have any roasts left, which was ok. When we got there, asked if they had any roasts left and was told yes. Then when we ordered, we were told they had no roasts left. Then we went back and forward with the bar staff having to keep going to the kitchen to find what was left, as each time we ordered we got told certain items weren't available. When we finally sorted what was available, it then took so long to get the food. Then they forgot our desserts. During the two and half hours we were there, no one asked how our meal was or if anything was right or wrong. A very disappointing visit.

Popped into here for an early lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see such a huge menu choice. Husband chose the Farrington double cheeseburger with fries and homemade onion rings. I chode the Farrington ploughman's. It was huge, homemade scotch egg, pork pie, cheese, thick cut ham and a gorgeous salad with crusty bread pickle onions and pickle. There was so much on the plates I actually took some I had left home Will definitely be going back again. Thank you.

It was absolutely delicious and the service was fast and efficient. If I lived closer it would definitely be my local! All the food was not very nice indeed. Nothing was made from fresh. Had the steak and ale pie. The beef had been cut up into slices and then made smaller obviously roast beef left over from Sunday lunch, ( this was Monday evening. It was served with what looked like a grey torpedo of mashed potatoes which had neither milk nor butter in them and some green beans which were like rubber. Horrible. The pudding of apple crumble was watery with lumpy custard.

This review is based on a single bad experience. I can’t comment on the general experiences felt, may have been just a bad day. My first complaint comes to how my payment was handled. As a resident of Scotland, the notes that I carry are Scottish. This seems only reasonable. To be denied the use of these in this establishment seems somewhat unfair. To add to this, the member of staff dealing with us said the manager could not accept my money, they only accept ‘British notes’. His words, not mine. Thankfully I am not nationalistic or this would have been taken further. As far as I last checked, Scotland is part of Great Britain? Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not a fan of ignorance. We sat down and decided to laugh it off. Our food was brought out to us. Minus my chips which I had to remind the waiter about. My wife found a long blonde hair in her baked potato. And later a bone in with her bbq chicken filling.I will add that the pie my father and brother in law had looked delicious and they confirmed this. The combination of these 4 things just made this a ‘terrible’ experience. If the rest of the table were to review, I’m convinced they would not give the same rating.

Went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration, most of the meals were very good, large and enjoyed, unfortunately i decided to try the lamb hotpot, expecting a dish of meat and veg topped with sliced potatoes,i was very disappointed that it was a small pot of meat and veg in gravy served with a side of cabbage, not the mixed root veg advertised on the menu, although tasty i would rename it 'the not a lot pot'. It should be made clearer actually what you are getting,i'm sure i am not the only person to have expected something a little different. Service was not the best, had to ask for desserts, and not even that busy. If i go again i would order the steak meal which looked really good.

Booked for my family for a late Sunday lunch. We had already pre-ordered our meats as they requested this prior to us arriving. We were seated next to the fire - sadly not lit and as the table was adjacent to the entrance we sat there shivering throughout the meal. We had to wait quite some time for our Sunday lunch but looked good, however, not very warm so time we were half way through cold. We all found the roast beef very gristly. My husband left most of his as that bad - this wasn't commented upon by the waiter. Not once during our meal did any staff come and as if everything was ok. Plenty of staff on duty so no excuse. We finished and waited and waited for the plates to be taken away and finally had to go to the bar to ask - still the plates remained until we asked again. When the chap took the plates we asked for the menu for desserts which arrived however we had to ask several times for someone to take our orders. All in all a very disappointed lunch. This was our local for many years until we moved out of the village - sadly we will not be returning. The pub is open all day serving food and if it had of been fully booked, we could of understand the poor service, however, this was not the case.

Our walking group were all seated comfortably for our pre-booked lunch in a warm and welcoming pub. But I have to say that my lamb hotpot was pretty ordinary when it came - no good chunks of long-cooked lamb under a crisp topping of sliced potatoes as I anticipated, rather a weird mix of bits of minced-up meat and veg with slices of anaemic potato in a tasteless gravy. The cabbage was quite nice though.

I took my mother and a friend for an evening meal at Farrington Inn we were greeted by friendly bar staff. We all ordered fish n chips when our meals arrived the batter looked like it had been reheated. On trying to eat our meal the batter proved to be tough and chewy with the fish inside all dried out. Not wishing to make a big fuss I quietly went to the bar to complain and invited the lady to inspect our meals. She agreed and was apologetic and offered us a 20% discount on our bill. Came here for the first time after booking a table for a few friends to get together over dinner. When we arrived the staff were super friendly and although quiet, the atmosphere was pleasant. We all ordered drinks and food which arrived in good time and was good value for money. I had the chicken smoke stack which tasted pretty good, you get what you pay for so it's not fancy, but for £9.99, it was fine. We ate and let our food go down... At this point our empty plates had been on the table about 15mins and whilst it was quiet, no one came over to clear straight away or checked we were happy with our food prior to finishing. One lady did come over eventually and we thought our dinner had gone down enough to order dessert... However, when we went to order we were told the kitchen closed at 9 and we'd missed out by 5mins!!! No one at any point gave us a heads up or asked if we'd be wanting puddings so this was a real let down. She did pop over about 5mins later conceding she should have checked regarding puddings and did we want complimentary tea/coffees but we didn't take her up on the offer. It was such a shame as up until that point we'd really enjoyed the evening and if they'd just popped over to check on us we would've left feeling completely different.

Fish & chips were pretty good, as was the parsnip soup. Salad lettuce was brown & a little slimy, plus waitress took wrong salad order down. Took a long time to get food, so we didn't send it back.

We had A lovely meal here on a Sunday lunch time. It was pretty quiet and we all enjoyed the food. I have included a pic of the vegetable ravioli & the garlic bread was very nice. Generous portions & good prices, especially if you partake in the 2 meals for £10 or 2 meals for £12.A brucey bonus is that dogs are welcome in the bar area and outside in the beer garden. Will return soon!

Prior to a jazz evening at Farrington Memorial Hall we met at the Inn for a meal 8 of us in total. The Inn has plenty of parking and seems to be a popular destination. Lots of tables had been reserved. The menu is quite large offering many choices for all types of diet. That evening 3 had steaks, 2 chicken tikka, 1 scampi, and 2 salmon. The food was good pub food at a reasonable price, the servers were friendly and helpful. The lady who ordered scampi did not eat it because it looked overcooked, she should have brought it to the staff attention, but was embarrassed. However when paying the bill it was mentioned to a staff member who deleted it from the bill.In summation good pub food.

This place is a little hidden gem! Visited due to recommendations from friends - and boy is it good! Great food, large menu, excellent value for money and attentive staff. Lovely garden to the rear too with plenty of outside dining space - and a beautiful cat too! We've visited both lunchtimes for a wrap and chips and evenings for a proper main meal, cannot fault it. Definitely recommend this little hidden gem

We came here for a quick meal one evening - it was busy, but we got a table. The food arrived quite quickly and they were both good sized portions but the presentation rather let down what was quite well cooked food. The biggest downside was that every time the kitchen service door opened, there was a blast of greasy smelling, slightly smokey, air straight into the restaurant - a great shame, as that was rather unpleasant and marred the evening (we couldn't wait to leave) although it's something that can be sorted easily, in all probability. This diminished the overall impression, which is a great shame as there is real potential for this place to be good....but a few details need fixing first.

We stopped for lunch at this lovely little pub while waiting for my son who was playing golf. We were made to feel welcome the moment we walked in. The lady behind the bar who served us was lovely and friendly. The menu was quite extensive with a great selection of food all at reasonable prices. There is something for everyone.

Passing by Thursday evening at 7pm so not too busy. Friendly staff with good service however most of the food was left. Starters and main came with side salads which was a lettuce leaf covering half the plate, a cherry tomato and a bit of cucumber. Garlic mushrooms hard and full of water, onion rings not cooked. Gave feedback when asked at end of the meal, and told the chef would be informed. Would not visit again.

Service fine and friendly. Food was OK just a ham baguette each, local ham nicely presented and quickly served. Menu fine and reasonably priced. Mostly seniors eating although tables were set for Christmas lunches, which looked fine. All dividing walls were gone since last visit, which was a long time ago!! Not much intimacy too big a space for me. Liked the Beer(Butcombe) and the reasonably priced menu. Disliked the lack of atmosphere.

A lovely place to eat with a family get together for xmas. Food was fab , portions large & quick polite service. My hubby was well impressed & thats not easy as he is a chef & owned his own restaurant for 15 years ! A great result as its hard to find a place for great food & for my hubby to be happy with food/service!.

Decently priced meals, quite a few 2 for £10 meals (just check your receipt as they charged us £12 for two scampi and chips which were supposedly in the deal).Service very good, they clear away plates really fast even when they're super busy! Friendly staff too!

Been here a few times lately and it's becoming my new favourite place for a simple good value casual lunch. The service is excellent. Great food today, my only criticism is to do with the kids menu - last time we ordered the pizza from the kids menu, which was great and I think it was only £3.50, good sized portion. This time we ordered from the 'big kids' menu, which I think was £4.50 as my 2.5 year old wanted pasta and this was only on the big kids menu. It was such a small portion, not enough at all.

We go here regularly as we like their 2 for £10 or £12 meal deals, and unlike other places, they keep this on on Saturdays as well, and because Saturdays are so busy, it's great that they even take table bookings and greater still, that we can take the dog too! The cider is good, the tables are not too close, so that hiding the dog is easy, and the service is not bad. There is also a large car park and a garden for warmer evenings.

Lukewarm coffee and rather weak Asked for the haslet to be served separately request ignored Sent it back as it was for a vegetarian which we had told them They simply took it out and gave it back to us The cheese had melted on the haslet so now he had only egg in roll Would never come back here Also very cold cafe We had to keep our coats on Avoid this place

Big fan of Bills in general and often pop in for brunch when in London for work. Visited the Bath branch during a weekend away with my partner, and have to say it didn’t disappoint. Service was top notch and food consistent with what I’d expect of Bills. All in all, deffo worth a visit- especially for a spot of brunch before visiting the Roman Baths or other nearby spots!

Chloe’s service and suggestions on the bar made my experience here 10x more enjoyable. She let me have a taster and suggested her favourite wine (merlot) and it was exactly what I was looking for. 10/10 would come back again

The lady was very welcoming, bacon role was nice but, order was wrong. The bill was wrong. Apart from that it was good. The only person working needs some training.

The seasonal 3-course menu (featuring more than three courses!) was a real culinary experience. Each course was magnificent and the whole dining experience was one of the very best. The service was impeccable, unpretentious, friendly and relaxed. The Olive Tree is definitely a restaurant we wish to revisit.
