Now we can eat indoors again, we choose this pub as the closest to where we were staying for a short break. Great quality pub food and super smiley staff - although that may have been due to being able to open again this week. Anyway, lovely beer and food. And similar amount of vege options as meat and fish, which is a great thing. Even our vegan party member got a choice of what to eat :-)

Visited on the first night back indoors. Great atmosphere and staff full of smiles. Food was brilliant, large portions and great quality. I had Lasagne which was as good as that from The Sloop, or if not better. Will be back in July when we are in the area again.

Stumbled across this place for a pub lunch. Only serving outdoors in a marquee due to COVID. Unfortunately the green being used as a beer garden is on a fairly steep slope and was pretty uncomfortable sliding down the bench eating my meal. But I appreciate there is not a lot that could be done about that and we are in strange times. The food was good, just what we were looking wholesome, substantial, tasty and good portions. The staff were friendly and attentive despite being busy with what looked like a large family booking (on separate tables) . The bill was very reasonable and felt we had great value for money. A good find that I would recommend and visit again. Nice to finally have a draught pint!

I rang to book an evening table but was told they were only serving Sunday roasts. This was no problem.Received a warm welcome from the hostess. Choice was pork or beef. We ordered one of each. The food came with plenty of fresh vegetables - peas, carrots, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, and mash. It was all hot as was the gravy. The beef came with a Yorkshire pudding and the pork with a sausage wrapped in baconThe meat was a good sized portion. The beef was well done ( I prefer it rare but that was not an issue). The only let down were the roast potatoes which were hard (possibly frozen).Service was excellent.

We visited for Sunday lunch, there were 7 of us. The food was fantastic and very large portions. Great roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, all served really hot. There is a large room at the back of the bar where there is plenty of room for everyone to be seated a safe distance. The food was so good we returned for a Friday night meal and the food was just as great. The staff are really welcoming and helpful. We would definitely return here.

Nice village pub, friendly staff and an obviously newly decorated dining room which was spotlessly clean made us feel at ease in these strange times . Due to Covid, we booked for two the day before. Turned up expecting to eat in the pub but we're shown to the rear restaurant room. We were the only two diners there which was a bit strange but no problems on the social distance element. The room itself was obviously quite new but completely soulless. A bit like a hotel function room. Tip: Some soft furnishings would help absorb the sound bouncing of the walls and tiled floor. During our meal, two guys moved an arcade game machine through the restaurant to the bar and then back out again. Could this kind of thing not be done whilst people are dining? The food itself wasn't great. My fish was more soggy batter than actual fish and pretty sure this was not fresh. We finished our drinks in the bar area which was not that nice. The stains all over the bench seats somewhat off-putting.This place seemed to be the only pub/eatery in the area and with a bit of thought and effort it could be really good.

In these exceptional times we should have counted ourselves lucky to find this pub open and serving food. I guess we were when having a drink outside in the evening sun – but decidedly unfortunate when having had to wait an hour for an unfriendly landlord to deliver mediocre meals in a soulless noisy new dining hall (that prohibits dogs). Far better to go to the Royal Oak in Fishguard.

We had a delicious lunch here on Friday 4 th September. Both the fish pie and plentiful salad were excellent - everyone in the pub had it so we ate it on recommendation and were not disappointed. We went 27 August ‘20 on the basis of the reviews below. We were hoping for an old fashioned local gastro pub with a relaxed ambience. Seems something had changed in the meantime. The eating area is a pretty stale environment, and feels a little like a roadside cafe as opposed to a pub. For some reasons everyone’s conversation seemed amplified, it was actually quite loud. The menu wasn’t the same as their website, and was significantly reduced in scope and interest. The food was seriously disappointing. I don’t think any of it was home made on site, and was bought to be heated and served. The burger, for example, was pre-made and dry, rather than homemade and juicy. Likewise the meatballs. Whilst the food was hot and well presented, it didn’t taste great and partly because it was bought and made offsite. It’s always annoying when you feel you could have made the food much better at home yourself. Not cheap either, given the above. That said, the staff were very friendly and possibly conscious that it used to be significantly better.

Apparently the restaurant had been very busy over the weekend so therefore many items were missing from the menu, which left us with very limited options. Chips were reheated several times as they were so over crispy and tough. Fish was in a soggy batter. Mushy peas were cold. Unfortunately this place doesn’t live up to the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor. However, the restaurant area of the pub is very homely and immaculately clean, with tables positioned at a safe distance from each other. Staff friendly and service was quick. Thank goodness they were doing 50% off Eat Out to Help Out as wouldn’t want to be paying full price for our poor meal.

Any pub that welcomes dogs is instantly a high scorer for me. From the outside, this pub looks quaint and cozy and whilst when you walk in, there doesn’t look much space and doesn’t have candles on or tables set, actually this local pub does all it needs too. Serves drinks with a smile and good chat and ultimately serves delicious food!We had the Canadian Burger and the lasagne. And both were delicious. The burger bun was real bread; by all accounts fresh from a bakery. Not that dry nasty brioche bread that most establishments use.The chips and you may think this trivial, but the chips to me are some of the best served! I will often judge a place on the type of chips used. It’s so easy to serve “school dinner” chips. But these had texture and taste and were served in perfect portion size. We had a very short stop at this pub but the locals will talk to you, the fire is lit (February visit) the dogs are welcome, the food is hot and tasty and you can sit comfortably for as long as you like. Please don’t use google for opening times( at the time of writing this, Feb 2020, google says permanently closed) it is not, just under temporary management, but I really do hope this places stays open!! I wish the farmers arms good luck and please keep that wonderful chef!!!

On holiday for Christmas we booked Christmas lunch at the Farmer’s Arms a few months ago. We popped in the day before and found the staff really friendly and welcoming especially for four legged friends. Arrived on Christmas Day and chatted to the friendly locals before going into the very nice dining room. It was perfect as our dog was allowed to come with us and met other dogs who came as well. The 3 course lunch was fantastic value with very nice pate, roast beef, goose excellent roast potatoes and veg and lashings of gravy followed by pudding and cheese and biscuits. It couldn’t be faulted and made our Christmas Day. The landlord and landlady did a fantastic job and I know life is a bit difficult to say the least at the moment. My son is vegetarian and says their homemade veggie burgers are 'the best' The atmosphere is really lovely and you always feel welcome by everyone. They also allow dogs which is an added bonus. A friendly pub serving good pub grub at an average price. Conservatory and pool table. Good choice of beers. Local style.

High expectations after reading reviews but with stiff competition around, this did not bowl us over. Traditional pub food which all tasted nice and the pool table fun but couldn’t say be rushing back.

Would highly recommend the Sunday lunch here. Lovely meat and plenty of fresh veg. They do a children's menu - and the kids got a yorkshire pudding the size of their head so they were happy too! Make sure you book ahead as it is a popular place.

This is a lovely pub in a slightly off the tourist track in Mathry. I do love this place having been a few times over the years, but it is only recently that I have sampled the food.

It was good to catch up with friends over a meal. The pub is well known in the area and we had a good welcomed by staff we ordered straight away and it arrived in good time. The meal was hot through out. This is well worth a visit but remember to phone for a table first. We will be going back again in the near future.

Great staff behind the bar and front of house. Great food cooked just as we wanted. Great beer (my God, they even had my weaning beer, Bass as a guest ale). Great atmosphere and a great experience. Thank you. Coming from Cornwall, we have some experience of pubs/restaurants in busy periods. Very happy to recommend the Farmers Arms.
