From the moment you arrive you feel welcome, the warm atmosphere and general "I am glad to be here". And that's before the splendid food, and the best faggots I have had for many a year. And what's more, the landlord seemed genuinely pleased to serve us.

We were walking in the rain as usual, and stopped here for lunch. It was Sunday, and this was clearly the place where everyone came for a beer and their Sunday Roast. The place was jammed, mostly around the bar, and as far as I could tell, we were the only tourists in the place. We found a table, ordered sandwiches and beer and sat back. The food was fine, but the experience was quite wonderful. Everyone was talking at once, there was TV showing horse racing, and people kept disappearing into a big room behind us and coming back with huge slabs of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, etc. The whole experience was wonderful.

A much improved, honest locals’ pub that caters well with walking groups and other visitors. New owners since late 2021 have really smartened everything up. Our walking group praised the lunch options, portions and low prices – service was first class too. There are expensive ‘gastro’ pubs nearby but the Farmers Arms is a much better bet for most people.

The Farmers Arms is situated in a typically scenic Cotswold village, up in the hills above Winchcombe. Whilst being a splendid building in its own right, its appearance still belies what is within. A large bar / dining area and separate dining area also, with a skittle alley too. We visited as a classic car group (pre planned) for a morning coffee and snack stop. We received a very warm welcome. Tom and Liz looked after us superbly and everyone in our party talked of our visit in high praise afterwards. We returned the following day, Sunday, for an evening meal. Again, extremely friendly and very efficient. Meals were promptly served and greatly enjoyed, at reasonable cost. I can thoroughly recommend the stroganoff- a varied menu for a ‘pub in the middle of nowhere’. Also, very busy, which is telling in itself. Highly recommended and all of us said we shall certainly be returning during our annual rally next year.

Had fish and chips for £18. Very disappointed!. Chips were French fries that seemed to have been warmed from lunch time, fish was dry and batter well overdone. The beer seemed flat (Cotswolds gold the only beer I drink). Lukewarm!. For the price I paid I could have got succulent battered cod thick cut chips cooked to perfection within the Cotswolds area for the same price. I know this as I live in the area. I have been here also and had Sunday carvery which was spot on. Couldn’t fault it.

Sunday lunch for a family gathering (6 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 children). A friendly traditional country pub in a picturesque Cotswold village. Whilst the children enjoyed their meals from the Children’s Menu, all the others opted for the Carvery. And what an excellent choice to have made. A wide range of unlimited vegetables with gammon, pork and beef on offer. All the good was cooked to perfection , with extremely generous slices of roast meat. I can put hand on heart and say that was the finest pub lunch my family and I have ever enjoyed, (and I’ve had many in my time!) Without a doubt, we will head for the Farmer’s Arms next time we visit the Cotswolds.

This is a great, local pub. Really friendly landlord, dogs and locals! The food is simple but really tasty and delicious. I can recommend pie of the day and the apple crumble. So wish we had a local like this within walking distance of our home.

First visit to this Pub and we were very pleased overall. It is one of a number of Pubs that’s associated with Donnington Brewery. We’ve visited a few, unfortunately in recent years a number of them seem to have sought out the higher end of the Tourist trade and in some cases it has lead to a deterioration in value and service. Not the case at the’Farmers’ - it is a traditional, good value Pub. We visited for lunch, although we were towards the end of service and it was quiet they were very accommodating. Food was very good, mostly traditional pub food at good value. Number of locals at the bar , excellent atmosphere and staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely look forward to visiting again.

Excellent lunch stop. It’s hard to find a simple sandwich in many local pubs but we don’t want a full meal when in the middle of a walk. The Farmer’s Arms sandwiches (we had Bacon,Brie & Cranberry and Tuna Mayonnaise) are generous and tasty, come with a lovely side salad and are very reasonably priced. Main meals seemed to be too. I asked the barmaid (even though I didn't think I needed to) if they were serving food and was met with a blank stare and 'I'm not sure, I'll ask'. 'If it's a problem, I'll just have a sandwich', I offered. When she asked the guy in the kitchen, whom I could see, all we got was a terse 'No' and off he stomped. A tired, grim pub in a lovely location. When so many pubs are closing down and others are doing their best to keep going, this one just can't be bothered. An unpleasant experience

We stopped here for Sunday lunch as a last stop before heading home after staying in the area. As soon as you step through the door you feel like you have stepped back in time! The decor is in desperate need of modernisation and it smells really stale. We only wanted soft drinks because of driving, and these were from bottles of cheap own-brand type "fizzy pop" - there's no gas-pumped soft drinks. The menu is huge which instantly sets off alarm bells because it couldn't possibly all be freshly prepared!! So we ordered a roast as we hoped this would be a safer option... we were wrong - The meal came out in 5 minutes and didn't look very appetising - like something your nan might have prepared in the 80's!! The vegetables were all over cooked and soggy, the parsnips were deep-fried and soggy, and the potatoes were quite obviously pre-prepared (think Aunt Bessie's) and also deep-fried. The whole meal had all obviously been pre-plated and either microwaved briefly, or been sat under a (warm) heat lamp, had the meat added, and then gravy poured only over the meat?!? Very strange indeed!! The staff were very polite and friendly, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the pub unless it has a complete overhaul!!

Place is dirty, sticky, greasy and food is revolting. It is also overpriced for what it is which is cheeky. It has nothing of a charming country pub and we were very disappointed. Attended with a group of 4 adults and 4 children we were all very disappointed and slightly disgusted by the place. Food came in no time which is not a good sign and everything had a greasy taste. It needs serious updating and a new chef! Passers-by AVOID IT - there are many other lovely pubs nearby.

Title sums it up, this is a very poor establishment. The décor inside is seriously outdated and the few wooden tables in the beer garden (poorly signposted) are close to falling apart. The food though was terrible! Three different meals took five minutes to come to our table. This concerned us, as I have previous restaurant experience and the turnaround was too quick. My dad had a Sunday roast, priced at £9.50, mum had a Ploughman's, priced at £9.00 and I had beer-battered cod and chips, priced at £10.95. The roast and cod was clearly reheated. The veg on the roast was pre plated, the meat thrown on before delivery, the Ploughman's came with bread from a Hovis sliced loaf, no pickled onion or Branston pickle and a small, soft, apple. My cod was dripping in oil and rock solid at the bottom. From my previous training I recognise this as a sign of a precooked meal that has been microwaved. Bad, bad, news.Complained to lady behind the bar about the latter and had money returned. "You're the third complaint this week on the fish" came the response, and we got our money back. The lady with grey hair however was very bitter. We commented on the Ploughman's and she bluntly told me the "bread was fresh" (shame, I'd have really loved a stale loaf of bread with my meal, arf, arf.) She then said "the food is good here, we don't do pickle." She'd asked us if we'd enjoyed the meal and clearly could not handle the slightest criticism. The lady with black hair behind the bar was really very nice and lovely, but unfortunately that's where the positive feedback ends. People are really overrating this establishment, it doesn't deserve the feedback it gets.

By luck we chose this restaurant for lunch and loved it so much went again the following evening. Smiths is a charming restaurant full of character, with a number of low-ceiling rooms. We had the” scotchy burger” both times and it was absolutely sensational. Cooked to perfection, full of flavour and quite possibly the best burger I (and my wife) have ever had or could remember having (and I’ve had a few!). The cajun fries were also perfectly cooked and added a spicy side to a (moderately) spicy burger and we left wishing this place wasn’t 2 hours away! The staff were friendly , especially the young blonde lady who was so welcoming and accommodating to us and also made the delicious chocolate mousse special that we had for desert. Definitely advisable to pre-book, this place gets very busy, and deservedly so.

The bread and cakes from here are epic - really good Croissant and the Sourdough is top class - can perch indoors if you are lucky or sit outside on some rather flimsy folding chairs, either way teh coffee is very good and even better with a bun! Quality of product is the main attraction, its not a large enterprise like some of the other places nearby. Worth finding.

We nipped in for a quick drink, the orange wine was delicious and the place has a nice atmosphere. We had some little snacks whilst visiting.

The guy who works here is rude and condescending. Dare you not be a perfect coffee expert and ask for advice on which drink to choose.
