Saying that they’re open. Drove 6 miles only to find the place is closed. On the other hand, I hear good things and look forward to visiting. Will call in advance though.

The vegan breakfast at The Faraway Tree is something to behold! Every element is cooked from scratch. The spicy beans and the veggie fritters are delicious, as is the potato and kale hash. If you want a huge healthy breakfast, then I can highly recommend this little gem of a cafe on Church road in Bristol 😋😋

This place is great. It's really understated but the food is delicious, inexplicably they do the most amazing asian food and the prices are really reasonable! It's Redfield's secret gem.

We visited with family, it having been recommended by a local friend. We weren't disappointed: really nice home-cooked food and a delicious latte. A good selection of snacks and light meals with a good emphasis on vegetarian options. A late lunch for three plus drinks was just under £27, and huge portions! It's dog-friendly (we had checked online and in person), with the usual provisos of being on a lead and well-behaved. The waiting staff were utterly delightful and it's definitely a place I'll be returning to.

Group of 6 people various dietary requirements (veggie / vegan) and we all agreed that it was the breakfast / brunch we've ever had. Big portions of homemade loveliness with truly wonderful staff - lovely vibe.

We had lunch here on Sunday. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was relaxed and the whole experience was fantastic. I love coming here whenever in Bristol and it is always enjoyable. I recommend it totally.

I had to share this because it been coming up in conversations in my area. I just cant get it off my mind. I actual know three young people who come to my sixth form who work here and trauma bond about how terrible it is to work here. Its really sad that the owner speak and treats the staff unprofessionally and rudely. Infract I came to the shop with my mum and dog and watched a big lady pull all the staff together and have a right go at then for being ''SLOW''. Hopefully by writing this she will see this and treat people better and wont have to put up hiring signs up again,

Best café on Church Road. Excellent barrista's, food is amazing also. Much better prices than The Loaf opposite (plus they have moody staff in there).

Good place on Church Road. Only open for lunch or so which is the only negative i can think of. Haven’t tried the breakfast options but the menu looked great. There were plenty options to chose from! I ordered a rustic salad with tofu and i really liked it, it was very filling and well worth it. Bonus points for having a few tables in the front looking our the window, where you can just chill and work on your laptop. Free parking available on adjacent streets.

I highly recommend this cafe! I was hoping to find a nice spot within walking distance of my rental flat and I couldn’t be happier. It has a lovely, homely and local feel. Food and service were excellent, and since I came early I witnessed how successful they are by the number of people trickling in while I enjoyed my breakfast. Wishing The Faraway Tree continued success! 🤗

Excellent customer service and dog friendly

Absolutely loved our visit to Faraway Tree. We had a vegan breakfast and a coffee. The breakfast was both delicious and plentiful, we basically rolled out of there. The staff were super hospitable when I told them I was allergic to Quorn and made sure they provided me with additional sausages, even though I forgot to tell them to start. Highly recommend the vegan breakfast and recommend going on a weekday if possible to get a seat!

Had the full English and although well presented it wasn’t great. Bacon overdone. Fried egg was cold. Beans were very odd, they just tasted of vinegar. One very small field mushroom. I was asked if I wanted toast, which cost extra, only got one slice which was cold. Certainly not worth over £11. Almost half an hour to be served in a half full cafe too. Went home and made a sandwich after!

Love this cafe. So down to earth and the most friendly and genuine staff. The food is presented and prepared like restaurant food and the best ingredients are used. The prices are low considering the quality of the food. Coffee and breakfasts are best in Bristol. Vegan and meat choices are equally gorgeous! Thankyou so much :-))

This is a few weeks after the fact but this experience has been playing on my mind a lot since it happened, and I now feel the need to share it, in the hopes that it doesn't happen again. I popped in on my lunch break to get a couple of takeaway coffees and witnessed what I can only describe as workplace bullying among the staff. There was a young woman on the till who was clearly new, and needed to ask for help, and the other members of staff I saw her interacting with were absolutely awful to her. In the time it took me to wait for my coffees (about 15 minutes, they were busy, which I appreciate adds to a stressful environment, but doesn't make any of this acceptable), I saw her berated and talked down to by two different people, for offering to help, and for making one seemingly harmless mistake. When I was informed that there'd be a long wait for the coffees, the young woman on the till offered to help clear through the backlog by doing the soft drinks, but the woman making the coffees snapped at her, telling her to "just stay on the till". It sounds relatively harmless, but the tone she took was really quite nasty, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. It's such a horrible feeling when you're new in a job, everyone's running around flapping like headless chickens because it's so busy, and you can't do anything to help out. After that, she was ringing up someone's bill, and pulled aside another colleague on their way back to the kitchen, for help. She was explaining what had happened (it was very simple, she'd pressed the wrong button when trying to subtotal the till, and was trying to input £20 cash to calculate change, but had accidentally added £20 to the bill). Even I understood that from her explaining it, but her colleague stood there pulling faces that made it seem like she was talking absolute gibberish, and in the end she lost her patience and physically pushed the younger woman away from the till, and took over. Once the customer had gone, the colleague turned to the woman in a huff, and blurted out "can you not do maths?". Now, setting aside the unprofessional tone and how rude this is, there are plenty of people for whom maths isn't a strong point, but that's why we have tills, they do the maths for us. To imply that she's stupid like that, not only makes for a really toxic work environment, but also implies that you have to be very well educated to work in a cafe, which is completely ridiculous at best and classist/ableist at worst. By the time I collected my coffee, the young woman's demeanour was really deflated and I could tell she was having a terrible day. I wanted to say something but honestly, what can you do in that situation? If it had been me in her shoes, I'd have walked out. I don't care how busy it is, even the most incompetent employee doesn't deserve to be treated like that, and it's made even worse by the fact that I was standing there the entire time. It's been playing on my mind ever since, and has made me not want to go back, and I hope that the woman has since moved on and found a job somewhere else. It was really quite shocking.

Amazing, tasty and hearty food! Great range of options, plenty of veggie and vegan too. Would really recommend anything with the veggie fritters in!

We went for the katsu and cocktails on Friday night and it was AMAZING. Can't wait to go back!

How about a English Breakfast review today? Obvious food to have if you are in UK. 🤭🥳 Had a plate full of calories in the morning to keep the engine up for the day to explore some historic part of Bristol. 🫶 We went to Faraway Tree on Church Road in Bristol where we had our first meal of the day. In Breakfast - 1️⃣ Sausages 2️⃣ Bacon 3️⃣ Mushroom 4️⃣ Baked Beans 5️⃣ Bread and Fried Eggs 6️⃣ Boiled Tomato and Boiled Seasoned Potato 7️⃣ Black Pudding - which is a very famous thing in Scotland but hard to find it in other part of the country. The review of food - Quantity of the whole meal was amazing, and I felt the priced charge was decent as well. If I talk about the quality of good, I felt the cafe could do much better than this - Sausages weren’t really tasty, looked like those were frozen ones, Bacon was too much fried - should have been in between raw and totally fried. Baked beans were little sour instead of sweet, and pudding was very dry. I’ve had amazing breakfast before, and I would say it is just an average breakfast with a good and aesthetic vibe. If I talk about the interior of the cafe, it was beautifully decorated. I would give it a 3/5, hope to see some changes in future.

Went on Sunday morning to nurse my hangover and I'm so glad I did, I had the veggie breakfast and it was delicious. Proper filling, yummy dish and the staff were all lovely. I felt 50p for a slice of toast was maybe a bit cheeky but I can't really complain as it's an independent restaurant and the cossie livs init. This will end up being my go to weekend spot I'm sure.

A very rude male member of staff today sadly although I love this place. I shut the door as my 6 week old was breathing in strong cigar smoke from a man sat just outside the door. The member of staff ignored me when I asked about closing it, then re-opened it without speaking to me. When I raised this with him he told me it was the only ventilation then ran away saying "Okay, bye". So disappointing as the food is great. There was another mum and her son who felt the same and we were really shocked by the response :(.

In six years I've still not found a better vegan breakfast in Bristol.

I have just tried this place for the first time. having thought it looked nice, and wow! I think that might actually have been the best breakfast I have ever had in my entire life. It's not the cheapest breakfast on Church Road, but considering both the quantity and the quality, it was a bargain. I went for the full veggie breakfast and it included two vegetable fritters (which were a bit like pakoras or bhajis), two hash browns, a veggie sausage, two fried eggs, a generous helping of delicious homemade baked beans, a generous helping of homemade bubble and squeak, fried potatoes, tomato, mushroom, and complimentary coffee before 11am! There may have been even more, but I was too busy eating to notice! It was a nice balance - very homemade, independent and quirky, without being too gentrified and chefy. Food like you won't get anywhere else, but without feeling the need to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of it. Only slight downside - it has quite restricted opening hours, which is probably why I haven't been before. Loved it. I will be back!

Some nice dishes, some gluten free options, the quality of service depends on who's behind the counter! ie in the past, the food description wasn't as stated and when my pregnant daughter couldn't eat it, I tried to discuss this with the woman on duty, who was rude, dismissive and so much as called me a liar! (not sure but she may have been the owner) I didn't return for a few years! But recently, the man serving was really lovely. Well priced food, decor a bit shoddy, but menu good for a breakfast or lunch. SO the rating is on my last experience.

Not a cheap greasy spoon despite appearances. Generous and filling veggie and vegan breakfasts available here. Oat latte was also very nice. Staff couldn’t be friendlier.

I phoned up to place an order for collect, the staff refused to take the order stating that they were too busy and hung up the phone very rudely.

I’ve been wanting to go here for a while after reading some great reviews. We finally made it today. Our group had 2 vegan breakfasts and a cheese, spinach and mushroom melt (toasted sandwich), with a hot chocolate, flat white and cortado to drink. Everything was delicious and food and drinks were all hot. The breakfast was hugely generous and we both took away one (of the three) vegetable fritters on the breakfast to eat later. Also on the breakfast plate was a sausage, home made baked beans, sliced potatoes and cabbage, a whole flat mushroom and half a tomato. The toastie was also generously filled. The menu was relatively small and had both meat and vegan alternatives to each item. They also had vegan cheese and milk options. The staff were friendly despite it being a very busy lunchtime. It’s on a busy main road with good bus access and a small car park a few minutes walk just behind Church Road. We will definitely be back.

Food was good; great service, dirty fork...

Visited with my teenage daughter on late a weekday morning; there was plenty of seating available both inside and outside including some comfy sofas. A nice range of food and drink choices, including hot and cold drinks. Both coffees we had were delicious and hot - an oat milk latte and an Americano. Our food order took a little while but was well worth the wait. My open sandwich with chicken and chorizo was rich and tasty. My daughter’s French toast with maple syrup and crispy bacon was, in her words, ‘the best I have ever tasted’ and she is hard to please!! All in all, a great visit and one which will cause us to return when we are in the locality again.

I had the veggie breakfast here and it was delicious. The coffee was also very nice. Great sized portions, a cosy atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Highly recommend!

Waiting here is a sign your food is being meticulously prepared with care. If people want instant cheap bland food they should go to McDonald's or one of the other fast food outlets.

I don't think I've ever left a review for anything.. especially a place I haven't actually visited. I can't believe how rudely I was spoken to on the phone by a staff member when simply just enquiring about possible CCTV and family members missing bag. Appalling customer service, I'm in shock how horrendously I was treated.

One of the best and cosiest places for brunch or a coffee. The staff is warm and welcoming, the food is excellent and stunning to look at even.

Probably about my 5th visit in the last 6 months trying the open sandwiches & most recently one of their melts (chicken & chorizo) adding on a portion of fries to make a very hearty lunch. Looking forward to completing the set next time with one of their pho bowls. Fantastic well priced food in a very relaxed venue

Went for lunch here yesterday. Very pleasant, good food and coffee, staff friendly, service is a little slow but if you are not in a hurry it's worth the wait for the fresh food.

Had to stop in Bristol to get Tyres changed on my way to London and was desperately trying to find somewhere to eat whilst I wait. Found this place and whilst not a vegan actually decided to opt for that option. I was blown away with both the amount for money and flavours. Can see why they have such a good rating.

First and last visit sadly. Cons: - Unfriendly staff. Stood at the counter and was ignored for about two minutes. Didn’t even get a hello. Made me question if they even wanted my money. - Waited 30 minutes for our food which was far too long. I had to ask when the food was coming, so did another group of customers. If you are short staffed (there was a chef vacancy sign in the window) and your wait time is any longer than 20 minutes you need to let your customers know. - Condiments were cheap. If you are serving breakfast than I would expect Heinz ketchup, not Aldi. - Charging an extra £1 for a piece of toast in a full English breakfast is a rip off. A full English breakfast naturally should include toast. Furthermore the toast was cold and butter far too hard which made it impossible to spread. - Very plain and bare walls. Adding a little art to the walls would give the place a better atmosphere. Pros: - Food was okay/good. Sausages were nice and the french toast well done. Nothing amazing sadly.

Amazing soulful, fresh and home cooked food- worth the wait Had the pumpkin pancake with the best hollandaise I have ever tried. The chorizo melt was super yummy with a burst of spices and delicious sweet potatoe fries and home made Mayonnaise.

Absolutely the best breakfast I've ever hand, delicious bacon and sausages. Incredible bubble and squeak. Epic homemade beans. Service was fantastic, really friendly and welcoming. Portions are enormous and really good value.

Awesome place! Authentically independent. We had two class full english breakfasts. Coming back 2moro for more of the same goodness.

The staff were really lovely and the food was brilliant. We had sausage sandwiches (which were great) but we saw some veggie breakfasts go to a table next to us and they looked incredible. We'll definitely come back next time we're in the area.
