We stayed for a few nights at the Doubletree Hotel and had three times dinner in the Kiln restaurant. The food was great and the service from Nikos excellent! After the first dinner he knew which wine we drink and ordered it straight away. We would recommend the restaurant and would come back any time.

Attentive service from Nikos! 😃 Thank you. He looked after us superbly, and was warm and welcoming. On the whole the food was excellent, lovely soups and baked Camembert! Caesar salads were excellent. The only let down was the chips, which is why the food scored a 4. Thank you again for the excellent service. 👍

For works Xmas meal, so not the usual restaurant visit. Perforce, the food was pleasant, but mass-produced. Nothing special, despite the occasion. The service, however, was excellent.

I brought a 3 course meal for 2 at an auction at Xmas. We decided to go tonight and can not fault the food was amazing and the staff very polite. Food was brought out at a timely manner even though they were quite busy. Would definitely recommend others to go for a meal at the kiln Would like to thanks Nicolas and the lady at front desk in restaurant. So sorry didn’t catch name. Would definitely be back again . Thanks

A MEMBER OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM AT THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL NEEDS TO READ THIS! I travel regularly with business and use Hilton Group hotels extensively. The experience in the restaurant in this hotel rates as one of the worst. It was nothing short of chaotic. I was asked to check what I’d ordered 3 times. I witnessed it reach the stage of a comedy sketch with those around me also ordering and reordering their meals. I received my starter after just over an hour by giving a 10 minute ultimatum - either we get it or we leave! The starters arrived in time to prevent us following through on the ultimatum. 25 minutes later the main courses arrived. One was freshly prepared and piping hot, the other had clearly been sat for sometime and was cold/lukewarm. By this time it was too late to leave. I’m writing this review whilst still sat in the restaurant. We have been offered drinks on the house. Sadly not enough, we won’t be paying for this!

I stayed at the hotel for 12 weeks for work and ate at the Kiln during this time. Excellent food and service. The staff, Leo, Mike, and Nico, are inviting and courteous and make a genuine effort to ensure a good experience. A particular highlight was the Tuesday buffets. All you can eat theme nights with different countries food each week. Really good, would come again!

It was late and quiet when we ate dinner, which was great, but our waiter barely spoke English and all you could do it point at the menu and hopefully not want to customize it at all. I had questions and just got blank stares. Breakfast was amazing though with the ladies absolutely killing it.

I had a good buffet breakfast when staying for business. The staff were friendly and helpful. A broad selection of the usual breakfast options. Nice croissants and scrambled eggs. The most impressive part is the surroundings with a circular room round the kiln which is different and brilliantly done.

The Kiln restaurant in Bristol was built as a glass kiln in the 17th century. The Hilton Doubletree is using it as their restaurant. The building itself is so nice. Inside they have tried to keep the character of the building with the kiln as the centre support of the room. The food there was amazing and the staff were brilliant especially Fiona who took great care of us. I had the sirloin and my husband had the chicken pasta. My starter was carrot and coriander soup which was beautiful and my husband had the popcorn prawns and he loved them. Will happily come back again.

My Beyond Beef cheeseburger was cooked to perfection in a nice bun with tomato relish. It came with rosemary fries which were a bit too salty for me (I don't normally have much salt in/with my meals at home). Husband thought his sea bass was stunning and enjoyed with Cajun sweet potato fries. His passionfruit sorbet was very nice. Well worth the money (£17 and £18 each for our mains). Waiter was friendly and chatted if you wanted to engage but instinctively stayed at at distance if required. Unique room with the original kiln in the middle. Hot and cold buffet breakfast was a very good standard. The staff accommodate your culinary requests e.g. a choice of vegetarian sausages.

Had both dinner and breakfast here on a recent stay at the DoubleTree. On both occasions the restaurant was fairly quiet which ensured pretty good service. For dinner, I had carrot and tomato soup to start, a selection of tapas for main and raspberry Pavlova for dessert. Although the soup was an unusual mix, it was pretty good and the tapas - calamari, breaded prawns, hummus and mushrooms - were decent as well. Dessert was more than acceptable too. To drink, I had a complimentary gin & tonic, a glass of Chardonnay and a Seville coffee. Most enjoyable at a cost of around £45. Breakfast the next morning was equally good with a good choice of hot and cold items.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night at 7.30pm. It’s a lovely, large restaurant yet there were only 4 other tables while we were there. I don’t know why because the food was lush! I had Thai beef salad for starter, delicious and spicy! Then racm of lamb for main with gorgeous little parisienne potatoes and crushed mint peas, soooo nice. Not sure how the hotel can attract non residents to dine but it should try as it’s great!

Just had a meal at the Kiln. Main course and dessert were very nice. Nice quiet place to eat too. However, the staff were not very good or attentive. Asked for a drink of wine with my dessert, it never did come. I had to ask for it at the end, as it was still on my bill. Getting the bill took an age too. And this was on a very quiet weds night. Would definitely return for the food, but not the service!

We ate here on a quiet rainy Saturday night and had a really fantastic meal. Living locally we are always on the lookout for somewhere nice to eat, and The Kiln was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly - the service really couldn’t be bettered. The food was extremely well cooked with decent portions-it was delicious and in all cases exceeded our expectations. Particularly recommended is the rack of lamb (which was boneless) and the rhubarb and custard semi freddo. We will certainly be visiting again often and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food, lovely surroundings, and friendly and efficient staff.

I stayed and decide to eat in the Bar area as the atmosphere in the restaurant was none. I wanted something quick and simple so ordered the baked Nachos with Jalopeno's and cheese. What i got was a packet of doritos cremated to within and inch of their lives , a smattering of cheese which didnt even dribble past the first layer and a let me repeat a Jalopeno pepper . The salsa was nice . No one checked with me during my "meal" and when they took the plate away after I had consumed the single pepper and the top layer of crisps and cheese not a word was said despite the large volume of food left . Lesson learnt , DON'T eat here if the best they can do is make a mess of the simplest meal

We were using the attached Hotel's conference facilities the following day (All brilliant) and decided to give the in-house restaurant a try for our large client dinner for 18 people. To be fair we had used the restaurant in the past for two/three people and it had been a good experience in a unique setting. However, on this occasion the waiting staff could not handle a large group, everything was slow and disorganised. However, all that might have been excusable, but what wasn't was their decision to impose an early closure. Our booking was accepted months earlier for 8.15pm (we actually sat down at 8.00pm) but by 9.30pm just after the mains were dished up we were informed that the restaurant was to close. We were the only users but this is intolerable service. We rushed our main course and paid our £900. In total I spend over £3,000 in this hotel over those two days so for once I actually complained and received a £200 token refund with the explanation of it being short staffed.
