Fantastic pub. Traditional pub is the way to describe this establishment. Clientèle are a very intelligent variety. Food is of exemplary level. The history is astounding in the building inside. One Fantastic establishment in every way. Leading example of how all pubs should be and could easily improve to this wonderfully run standard.

Service is fairly quick here TBF. we brought a big group in here and was told it would be ok by the staff there. When we got in here we were moaned and shouted at multiple times by the staff we felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome here. If we weren't wanted it would of been nice to of been told no we can't have a big group here instead of wasting our time

Lovely little pub. Tend to pop in before a gig at the Exchange opposite. Really reasonable drink prices, nicely decorated, nice atmosphere, good music. Really recommend.

Called to ask if it was wheelchair, accessible and wasn't! Lovely place lovely people, but it's got a step at the entrance, the corridors are too thin to wheel through, and no disabled toilet. It's understandable since it's a very old building, but wish they were honest on the phone before I turned up and found out

We have been here several times I’m always had the best time in this pub, the bar staff is always friendly, every time they remember what I like and we always have a friendly chat about life and what’s up in Bristol. This is a place where I come to relax and it’s peaceful and welcoming. Drinks are always good and whatever you prefer bar staff always provided the best options door you. Great seating are in side and outside. You do need to get 2 drinks as there is a card limit of £5, but you do not need to have both drinks straight away. The people most of the time coming here are chilled and friendly. They also have easy accessible toilets and it’s always cosy inside on the couches or you can go to smoking area as there is plenty space and one part of it also have a roof if it’s raining. Close to everything in city Center and 18 min walk from Temple Meads Station in Bristol. Highly recommend as prices are really friendly and atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet. I love this place and personally always had the best service in Old Market street.

Enjoyed a delightful evening at Old Market Tavern in Bristol. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff created a welcoming experience. Tasty drinks and a decent menu, though a bit limited.

A little bit TARDIS-like, you wouldn't know from the outside quote how large it is. The OMT is a fantastic venue for larger social gatherings - especially in the summer when you can make use of the well-sized garden out the back.

Having not been out in Bristol for many years, I was a bit disappointed at how lacking the "gay village" in and around Old Market had become. Untill we got to the old market tavern. Wow. Inclusive, friendly, and has a real nice vibe. Looking forward to visit again.

Fabulous place! LGBTQIA+ friendly and a wonderful vibe with lovely staff. Food is amazeballs and all vegan, and incredibly tasty! Well worth popping in for a cheeky pint or some food.

Even een borrel voor het avondeten! Op de stoep bij deze zo te zien zeer oude pub een bord waaruit blijkt dat ze "inclusive" zijn .. een ander bord met lbhti+ .. sorry als ik een stroming vergeet. Kortom ... iedereen van harte welkom. Binnen .. een pub/tavern op gevorderde leeftijd. Gezellig interieur, vriendelijke barman. Schenkt stevige G&T dus bij mij kan de zaak niet meer stuk. Mijn partners bier beviel niet .. na uitleg wat hij niet lekker eraan vond gratis een ander soort bier. Kortom, gastvrij. Wij waren er rond 18 uur. Later op de avond vast veel leuke mannen en vrouwen hier.

We wandered in here to get food and drink before a gig at the Trinity Centre. We weren't expecting vegan food and are not vegan ourselves, but as it was getting late, the other pub wasn't serving food and the bar staff were friendly, we thought we would give it a go. My husband had the 'meaty' burger and I had nachos and chilli. Both were brilliant, really tasty. The melted cheese tasted like melted cheese and the burger was sufficiently filling. The staff were really friendly and cheerful and the pub had lovely old worldly charm. If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to return and would recommend this place to everyone, vegan or otherwise.

Visited as I was passing by on the way home and was warmly greeted by the barman and made to feel welcome straight away. The drink selection was pretty good; several whiskys, gins and beers to choose from. Though on cask it did seem like only craft and IPA was available (Bristol does seem to be heavily into IPA and craft beer so I'm not surprised) so settled for a cloudy pale ale which was pleasantly refreshing. Personally would have preferred a stout or amber ale but you can't have everything your own way but the beer tasted well kept so it's a thumbs up from me. Minimum of a fiver on card (£3 something for a pint of cask you can't grumble at) but the barman was more than happy to take for two pints and pour the second when I was ready. I saw a few people eating but didn't grab a menu but there's always time for that next time. Overall a very cosy, relaxing pub with good beer at a very reasonable price and a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return

18th century pub. Good ale and reasonably priced sound food. I think meals £6.50 ish and the pies are fine, chips a little dry but ok. Cooked breakfast looks to be large and good. Friendly and efficient bar staff.

Visited the Old Market Tavern the other day for the first time and I was more than pleasantly surprised! Quite sad that I’ve only just found out about it now!! Wonderful atmosphere and beautifully decorated, this place is a little tucked away gem! We were also served by the lovely Chris who was really friendly and fun to chat to. (Also had a great flamingo shirt that I’m a big ol fan of.) Will definitely be returning!

Staff was not good at all.. pulled the wrong drink and after we said we was told to leave.

Come here every now and again with friends and we enjoy it everytime. Staff are lovely , Prices are decent and a nice place to chill out in the evening.

Came here as I wanted to have an informal lunch meeting and wanted to walk out after not feeling the energy lull from having eaten a stodgy burger and fries. Ambience is great and the menu refreshingly different. I had the couscous salad which was imaginative and substantial (the latter also helped by some decent fresh bread and oil!). Great value too. Will definitely be back.

Had a works party there this week. Fantastic buffet, reasonably priced and very tasty! Great service and lovely to sit outside in the garden area, which has been revamped and looks great! Wouldn't hesitate to go there anytime with work or with friends or to recommend it to anyone!

Friendly serves foster beer garden

The pub's garden has recently been refurbished, and I must say it is gorgeous! Light and airy with plenty of seats and plants/flowers. The staff here are lovely and friendly. We tried some cocktails yesterday and they were very good value. Keep up the good work guys! What an oasis right on the edge of town.

Honestly this pub is awesome! Staff are all lovely, atmosphere is just right. Lots of cosy hide-always and a lush, huge garden area. Prices are reasonable and they do some excellent themed nights :)

After looking for a good Sunday lunch in the city centre we found this little gem after some amazing reviews. The meat and veg was prepared and cooked beautifully and the atmosphere in the pub beats that of any pub chain. At £6.50 you're really getting value for money will definitely be back.

Nice pub. I only came in here for the first time this week despite only living less than half a mile away. I like the decor, this oaky wooden stuff and had Sunday lunch carvary which was brilliant for just £6.50. The joints were very tender which for some reason too many chefs struggle to get right (I'm a chef myself and know what I'm talking about) the gravy was very tasty (again a basic thing but too many people are too lazy to get it right and just add bistro to boiling water) and all the veg was hot without in any way being overdone. The pint was good too, swordfish.

We were in Bristol a few weeks ago to see a few bands play across the road from the Old Market Tavern. A group of us met here ahead of the show and I wish we could have stayed longer! We all received a warm welcome and enjoyed drink the the fantastic beer garden. We made it a little late for the Sunday Roast but it looked amazing, maybe next time!

Very clicky management rude tho bar staff good - doesn't accept £50 pound notes and slightly racist in not accepting scottish notes atmosphere crap toilets below par beer garden untidy and under maintained and looks like it could do with a good clean/refurbishment no wonder the place was quiet

Fantastic traditional pub serving well kept beers and decent food at a decent price. Fan little decked garden that's a real suntrap in good weather, and pleasantly cosy even when not.Really recommend this if you're looking for a swift pint or an evening out with friends or something substantial to fill you up for lunch or dinner.

I went to this bar because I saw it advertised as the premiere gay bar in Bristol. I was wrong. I was refused service the first minute I arrived as I asked for the explanation of all the beer that were offered. I was quite excited to be there but I was definitely not intoxicated. Although very surprised by their reaction my partner and I simply left and enjoyed the rest of my evening in the bars near by. I wrote an email to management and received the reply that their policy is to refuse any customer that the bar staff feel "uncomfortable" with. I explained to management that sensitivity training should be given for staff to properly determin the difference between drunken unruly people and those tourists that are just happy to be there. Very unprofessional in my opinion. It was clear to me that the bar staff simply didn't want my energy in the place.

myself and my partner were searching bristol for places to eat so we tried a few places that were very good then we seen the reviews about this place so we thought we'd give it a try,<br/> i can say there wont be a return visit.... the food is below average! we had the impression that it was a popular place to eat good food & beverages. we just wish we had just gone to mcdonalds as the food there is far better. luke warm food not that tasty, service slow with creepy bar staff who made us feel uncomfortable.

Driving by and saw the sign for the carvery, £6.50 for a load it yourself plate. Tasty basic food, friendly staff, good old pub with a beer garden. Coming back.

Whenever I visit friends in Bristol I make sure I visit OMT at least once if not several times during my stay. The staff is friendly and the food prices very reasonable. I love the atmosphere here and the back garden is fantastic in with a group of friends sharing pints and laughs. Stick around for bingo or quiz if it's going on that night. Great fun.

My word this place is a find! The boys down in Bristol have been keeping this little gem to themselves and I can see why!My partner and I pitched up at about 10.45 on September 13th 2014. The pub wasn't heaving but let's say there was a fair footfall. The bar staff were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble.The pub is old and gorgeous. It reeks history. In one section think bare floorboards, beams and oak booths - and you have it. In another think cosy leather chairs and a roaring fire - and you have it.I can't even remember if there was music - AWESOME a *real* full fat gay pub where I can actually here myself speak! Truly wondrous.This place immediately became one of our all time favourite pubs. I cannot recommend it enough. Now we know it exists every time we're in town we'll be there.

Cracking pub. Landlord Richard and his team provide a genuinely warm welcome, and the recent addition of food in the evenings (they were already serving lunch and a good-value Sunday carvery) has made the place even better. Bingo, monthly quizzes, board games if you're bored and a wonderful suntrap garden all help make the Old Market Tavern a must-visit.

Found this lovely pub on a shopping trip to Bristol with friends. Only a short walk from Cabot Circus it's had a little gem of a garden out back that felt like your miles out of the city centre and a conservatory which was good when it turned a bit nippy. It's surprisingly spacious inside and we had a tasty pub lunch for less than a £5 which was good value. Will be coming back.

I work just a few mins walk away from this gem of a pub. It's a great place for a quick lunch with friends or having a sneaky drink after work. I've also noticed that they have started to do food in the evening so will have to give this a try.The staff are great and you can usually have a laugh with them.Give it a try I say!

This establishment really is one of Bristol's finest! Visited on a sunny weekday and found the suntrap that is the beer garden, looking splendid with it's planting and painted tables on the raised deck. The interior is fantastic too, with solid wood furniture and wood panelled walls and very friendly attentive staff-but on a sunny day would have been a shame to stay inside.I sat out with a pint of Stowford Press, but the pub offers other ciders and lagers on draught, along withthree well kept real ales. The food menu was very tempting too, and it was great too see the pub serving reasonably priced yet hearty portioned home mademeals in the evenings too. I stayed and had the OMT burger, a home made burger with all the trimmings and under £6 too! Definitely coming here again :-)
