The Famous Curry Bazaar in Tower Hamlets

The food was very disappointing and overpriced : dry and tasteless king prawns with rice : £ 22,90. According to the waiter, are dry prawns normal when you order “king prawns in a light blend of yoghurt sauce, grilled in the tandoori.” The toilets were extremely dirty. Never again. “The best curry on Brick Lane”—what a joke.

An experience! Was asked to come in and lured in with a good price, and they delivered. Rolled out of there, full of food and fab service from Mabz.

There was a lot that went wrong here. In short: We got lured in with free beer, got told later it is on the condition everyone orders a main course. Beer was way overpriced. Service was terrible, waiters very pushy. Toilets very dirty. Long story: There was someone waiting in front of the restaurant, who started a conversation with us, promising free beer inside the restaurant. As we already ate before, we thought we could go in for a small snack. After entering, we were guided to a table and the beer was brought to the table almost immediately. We could here it was canned beer they put in our glasses. After discussing the menu and almost all of us ordering at least an appetizer, we had to wait quite a long time for the food to be prepared. At any given time there were three to four waiters just standing around (We were the only four people in the entire restaurant). Those waiters were very pushy, always picking up the almost empty glasses or plates, wanting us to order more, but we kept refusing. After all, the service was not very good, one of them even touched our food with bare hands, and we paid roughly 68 pounds for 1 main course, 1 appetizer and 4 beers. The food was okay, but not at all worth the high prices. And 6.90 for a canned beer 0,4l is just unacceptable. A quick journey to the toilets in the basement was also not very pleasant, they were very dirty, and didn’t look well taken care of. They just lie to lure you into their restaurant.

The food was really okay to good, but the service is not recommended. We were recruited outside with free beer, which was later linked to the condition that everyone had to eat a main menu. The waiters were almost intrusive and tried to clear away almost empty glasses and plates with some food on them far too hastily. When paying we were asked several times to pay in cash. When we didn't have any cash, we were told that we could still withdraw money quickly and that we would even get a free shot. The toilets aren't very clean either. So all in all the food was okay, but the rest was very suspect.

We were lucky enough to find the famous curry bazaar on a day when majority of food places were closed so really glad about that. The food was incredible and the hospitality was commendable especially mabz. He was efficient and really accommodating with his service. All in all a perfect evening!!

I thought I'd come here and drop a bomb about the disgusting attitude of the staff at Curry Bazaar but I see that others have already done it... As soon as I'd finished my meal and before I'd managed to place the cutlery in the finished position, they came round to clear the table. Red flag. They brought me the bill without me asking for it. Red flag. Dessert was not offered. They seemed bothered that I checked the bill before I paid. A couple of chocolates were brought with the bill and I still had half of a bottle of water left, which I'd paid for. But while I was trying to eat the chocolate they came to the table and started removing the table cloth saying that someone else was waiting for the table... Not really my problem. My things were pushed over the table. I told them they were being appallingly rude and that I had been charged for service. They started shouting at me. I told them that I do not tolerate being shouted at. They told me they had said to people that I'd be 5 minutes and the table would be free... Really? I never said that. Thanks for kicking me out. They were literally all over me standing uncomfortably close. They left me with a dirty stained table cloth in their attempt to force me to leave. They then told me I talk too much. I've never been treated with such rudeness and lack of respect in ANY restaurant I have ever been to in Brick Lane or beyond. The staff have literally 0 awareness of social norms, customer service or respect for customers. The place was really loud all the time I was there with yobs swearing loudly without any intervention by the staff. Now I understand why. The food tasted good but the lamb was tough and chewy and full of fibre. The food is better at the City Spice just opposite and when it comes to service you can't go wrong anywhere else by here. Worst service ever. If I could I would give them a minus 5 star rating. I am sorry that I left a single pound here. The ladies' toilet was also smelly with no toilet roll and the sink hadn't been cleaned for a few weeks and was reeking because of it. Absolutely disgusting place and staff. Ruined my evening. I'd only send my enemy to eat here.

Stunning food - excellent service from Mabz, will be coming again for sure!

I wasn’t impressed sadly. Got ushered in with the usual offers (20% discount and first round of drinks free, which were honoured). But unaware of the rules that every person at the table was required to order a main. Many of which were £19… for just the curry dish, no rice included in that price. We were rushed in, then ignored, had to ask to order three times, waited for food for 45mins and in the interim offered more beer 3 or 4 times, when we kept saying that no, we just wanted to eat. Once the food came the portion sizes were tiny given the prices. They also forgot one paratha we had ordered. After we’d eaten we were brought hot towels and the bills straight away as they were ready to get rid of us. They hadn’t taken the agreed 20% off the bill, so we got them to do that. We were also sat right by the door which kept being left open and was v cold and drafty on a mid-December evening, and thus distracting us constantly from our conversations. It was a shame as I’ve had some great Indian meals on Brick Lane and wanted to treat my parents to the fun experience, but I was left disappointed and I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Great curry that reminded me of the authentic Bradford experience. The paneer was perfectly cooked with a flavorful, well-balanced sauce. The atmosphere was quiet and inviting, and the service was attentive. Mabz was a very smiley, happy waiter. 4/5 stars.

Bland and tasteless food. Noisy and chaotic atmosphere with staff and guests shouting over each other. Demanded that we order main dishes when some of our party didn't want them. Toilets are filthy and in a bad state of repair. No idea what the kitchens are like but I'm not confident. WARNING: Check your bill as they overcharged us by a considerable amount. Find somewhere away from the scruffy/dirty Brick Lane.

Big up Madz for the amazing service Chana masala was a bit mid tho :/ Edit: They pressured us into giving reviews after giving us free shots of Baileys so I was honest. The owner, who seemed coked up, then came over at the end begging us to change our review and stay for another shot on him after he’d already seen the bad review. Weird vibes. They also tried to charge us extra for food we didn’t eat and refused to give us tap water, legal requirement in the UK. They’re clearly review farming. Don’t go here!
