Was taken out for a meal yesterday by our lovely daughter and she choose well ,we had a lovely meal and the service was amazing with friendly staff a nice finish to 2024 and hoping to be back in,2025

Booked a table. Arrived 15mins early and told to go sit in a filthy bar. Tables all covered in drink and food debris. Two lots of people arrived and were seated immediately, even though we were 4, the same as them. Had to go ask if our table was ready. Then waited 45mins for food after placing our order. Chicken Satay was incredibly spicy but didn't say so on menu. Chicken nuggets were awful. Milk shake was undrinkable. Asked twice to have this removed from bill. Seemed to be lots of staff, but nobody taking responsibility for each table. I certainly won't be back. Sad, as it used to be very good. Clearly much lower standards in place.

Food is good and staff are always friendly. Also a nice place for drinks and cocktails

So myself and my daughter both woke up early enough to head into town to get a few birthday surprises for her, money is tight at the moment so I hadn’t planned to do a big family get together as we normally would, once my daughter got herself some nice jewellery in town we phoned my mum and asked if she fancied meeting us for food. The exchange was our first choice my mum goes regularly in fact she’s there again this week for Xmas lunch with friends, my daughter has never been here. We did hotlist a couple of other places just in case they couldn’t find us a table as the Xmas dinners were in full swing. Fortunately we were able to get a table straight away without having to wait. We were quickly served our drinks and a complimentary bottle of cold fresh water and ordered our food, we chose not to order starters and this made the wait for mains seem a bit longer than usual but bearing in mind the place was rammed and the food cooked fresh to order it wasn’t any time at all, the truth was the whole meal from entering the exchange and leaving was only just over an hour My daughter was saying how she was super hungry and starving yet the portion size was just far too much for her and she took a lot of it home in a doggy bag, she had also asked for the gravy on her steak sandwich to be swapped out for her favourite sauce ! Peppercorn sauce, my mum ordered her as per the menu and I went for my trusted favourite everywhere I go a good Caledonian chicken, or as the exchange calls it supreme of chicken with peppercorn sauce. I don’t notice if it said seasonal veg on the menu I’m assuming it did as the dreaded Brussels were on my plate lol I’d have preferred some broccoli but I just put them to the side and apart from them I cleared my plate ! I was very surprised I managed the whole lot as my appetite of late is akin to a small child’s portion but nope polished the lot off. As we had birthday cake in the car and the brothers meeting us at grans we didn’t order deserts on this occasion. The food and the service were great and the Christmas decorations were absolutely beautiful

We had the best night last Saturday for my son’s 30th birthday. Firstly thank you Amy, who was so helpful and knew exactly what I wanted and delivered. Then onto bar staff who work soo hard. Jess and Courtney you both were so attentive to Ross’s family and friends, thank you so much x Food drinks and music was outstanding x Everyone spoke about how wonderful the night was. Thanks again guys, you all do a wonderful job, love Margaret Jenkins 💞💞💞💞

Used to be good veggie options. Now the chef has pretentious cheap ingredients. Sad really.

Eight hungry men from Belfast arrived for breakfast at the Exchange to be greeted and seated by a very pleasant young lady called Courtney who balanced the everything from phones, orders, tables all with a smile and a little welcome banter. Our drinks order soon arrived and shortly after our breakfast and may I say what a wonderful hearty breakfast it was Exchange you know what a breakfast is. It was so good not a word was heard from our table except for munching and drinking. We move to another table to accommodate other customers to the restaurant as we were going to have a few drinks. The staff are extremely attentive always courteous but also friendly all overseen by Courtney, (who we all fell in love with six of us are well retired old men 😂) held that establishment in order with a swift look and new exactly what was needed when and where. What an asset she is. As we had a meeting to go to we decided to book a table for the next day Saturday at 13.00. What well run very very busy establishment and so big.

This is our second time here and it was great..great food ..staff.. great service food was excellent and very reasonably priced can't fault it..and will definitely be back.

My friend ordered pina colada cocktail and when it arrived it had cream on top which my friend does not like. She asked fir a spoon and a plate so that she could scoop it off. Staff then appeared with a fresh cocktail minus cream. So kind and thoughtful

Love the exchange great staff great atmosphere very clean,but what have they done to their steak pie 😞😞 it's all my husband eats when we go out for dinner and he loved the exchange steak pie but yesterday it was more like a steak pudding no flakey pastry and very dry such a shame as quite a lot of people like traditional steak pie which it says on the menu but to me steak pie has a gravy not dried out steak sorry about my rant but very disappointed.

We were a big group, for brunch, and while we booked in advance, the service took a while to catch up to us all. However, what was delivered was lovely and I'd surely recommend the place.

What a fantastic night,great food, fantastic staff, and plenty of them,nothing too much for them. Drinks reasonably priced and loads of cocktails 6.50. It's been years since we were last there, but back soon

Recently had my sisters 40th birthday celebration in the courtyard at the exchange it was perfect in every way!! Thanks to Amy and her staff they were fantastic from start to finish! On arrival we had our signature cocktails waiting us (French martinis) The food was delicious and perfectly set up everyone commented how tasty and different it was for an evening buffet. I had book a saxophonist as a surprise so while we partied Amy took matters into her own hand and gave my sister the best surprise ever! What an amazing time we had! The night couldn’t have turn out any better! Would highly recommend the courtyard for any special occasion. Thanks again to Amy and all the staff at the exchange for a wonderful night to remember 🫶🏻

The food is great portions huge. It might be the best restaurant in Inverclyde. Shame the music is so loud. Price affordable

Great food, reasonably priced. Can get busy during peak times so best to book. We have been a few times, always had a nice meal. A few GF and vegan options.

Really enjoyed our meal out today at The Exchange. Had Blaggis Spring Rolls and the Lentil Soup for starters. The soup was nice and had a little bit of a kick. Blaggis was as good as ever. Main courses were Steak Pie and the Sunday Roast Dinner. Steak pie was nice and so tender. Beef was good and came with a herby mash and roast potatoes. Both also came with broccoli and carrots which were a little under done for us but that's personal preference.

Nice selection of food although the Sea Bass I saw on the online menu wasn't on the menu in the restaurant so I opted for Vongole. As a fish lover, it was nice to have a choice from the usual burgers, pizza and the like. My wife had fish and chips which she said was nice. The Cullen Skink was also nice with a hint of chilli. Service was a wee bit slow although I've had worse elsewhere. For a Monday night it was not too busy but there was still a few people there. Toilets were clean enough and staff were friendly. There was only one non alcoholic beer available amongst the vast array of alcoholic drinks which wasn't great. Parking outside between 5pm and 6pm in the area of the restaurant isn't advised due to restrictions. More fish dishes would be appreciated as many restaurants lacking in this food in the Greenock area.

Went here for a change a long drive round from Helensburgh today lovely place that I found on Google. The place was very busy and it looks very popular we will be back in the future Staff friendly and helpful

Stopped off with my wife for lunch , I had the Fish and Chips and my wife had the Burger which she said was excellent, my fish was ok and washed down with 2 Pinot Grecio . All in all a pleasant lunch for a Wednesday afternoon.

J'ai mangé un burger végétarien. Rien à redire, il était bon et complet. Mon compagnon a choisi le fish and chips, très bien accompagné. Le dessert 🍋 gingembre était original et parfumé. Bref, tout était bien préparé, pas gras et avec une touche d'originalité en prime. L'établissement est spacieux et très propre. Personnel professionnel. Nous y retournerions volontiers. 👍

We were totally satisfied with our lunch. Hearty and very good dishes, with an added touch of originality. Non-greasy cuisine. The waitresses were attentive and professional. The establishment is spacious, comfortable, you feel good there. We recommend!

Lovely place to eat , steak sandwich is amazing, had the calzone too, also fantastic , the staff cant do anymore to help, try the asahi draught beer , a first in greenock !! The best bar restaurant in town by far .a must if visiting for a day or two. Had the tempura fish tonight, 18th Feb it was delicious

simple setting & a simple menu done well

1st time in and had a lovely lunch. Staff were very polite and helpful, also a nice clean place too. Only thing I'd say was I ordered chips on the side and for £5 a portion I thot they were not worth it value wise, but I would go back if I was down that area again just not to order chips on the side tho😁

Food was as always perfectly cooked and presented. Disappointed in the customer service tonight as being very dismissive, pity.😔

Good menu choices which are very well priced along with special offers Ordered pizza and was amazed at the size couldn't eat it all so and had the rest boxed up to take home to Rothesay. Will definitely be back

Cruising the British Isles. We’re from Canada and have a cousin living close to Greenock so we met for a leisurely and delicious meal here, Staff and food were great!

Great atmosphere, great food and great service from the friendly and very helpful staff. Also. the menu is varied therfore there is something for everyones pallet. Highly recommend.

Visited here a couple of times and the food is always spot on. Very busy so you're better to book. Photo is steak pie (which is packed with meat) with cheesy mash, also comes with gravy.

We booked for 6.30pm. Table wasn't ready for us as still in use. When we eventually got our table they seemed to forget about us. We had to ask for our orders to be taken for food. Eventually we got our meal at 8.20pm !!! They did give us a complimentary drink. Definitely not impressed will not be back anytime soon.

I was invited along by a number of friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. This was booked well in advance for 6.30pm 5th April. On arrival there was no table ready for us. We certainly were offered a drink for our inconvenience. Thank you. Went downhill from thereon in. We were eventually seated on a platform in the wine bar for our meal, then no-one came for our food order until I (the guest) pushed them to. Bottom line, the first dinner appeared at the table 8.15/20 and again only after I pushed for answers. It was not OUR fault that the exchange had clearly been greedy taking far too many large party bookings at the same time which they most definitely could not cope with. Nor was it OUR fault that those previously at the table reserved for us allegedly turned up 30 minutes past their booking time. They should have been penalised and asked to vacate that table if this was the case. We were booked for 6.30pm for the reason that there were folks with digestive issues eating later and to avoid being there for the live music. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy conversation as we were only brought our meal as he started and was immediately in front of us. This is my first negative experience at exchange but it was a huge negative and I wouldn't recommend booking a party there. The food was fine, but the overall experience of dining with friends was greatly marred.

I have just had my wedding at Cruden hall and the Clyde suite. It was superb The staff were brilliant nothing was too much bother. They could not do enough for us. The place looked fantastic and my guests did nothing but rant and rave about how good the food was. I am super happy. I really can't say enough nice things about this team. My wedding. day was perfect. Thank you.

Can somebody tell me how many weeks in advance do you have to book to get yourself a booth??? I booked on the Monday for the Friday and when we turned up we were given a wee tiny two seater table in a tiny corner and all the booths were taken. I'm afraid this is not acceptable especially booking 4 days in advance. So can someone please advise how many weeks you have to give notice? One? Two? Three? I'm afraid we won't be returning on this basis which is a pity as the food is delicious but booking system is a disgrace!! Who wants to be a goldfish in a bowl with everyone staring? Not me!

Went in here for lunch the pasta was amazing and the cocktails were yummy!..lovely staff also will be back loved it😊

Food was fine. Time between courses was too short and we felt rushed and stuffed at the end. Asked for a wine list and it never appeared so we went without and probably wouldn't have had time to get through a bottle anyway.

Tough one.. Have been many times before but this was the first time since maybe 5 years.. The food was good, but not amazing, the staff were all friendly and efficient.. But it was just lacking. Arrived at 19.30 on a Thursday night, the place was full.. By 20.30 we were the only table left and by 21.00 we were being offered coffee and last orders.. Half the staff left and the others had their coats on. Maybe this is the new normal, eat early and go home.. Just not a 'night out' I was hoping for.

Great venue for our Christmas lunch! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Christmas music playing quietly in the background didn't drown our conversation even over the long table. Would recommend for a good place to eat and enjoy.

First time in The Exchange last night, was out with group of friends for a birthday. What a beautiful place, friendly, fast service, brilliant atmosphere . Food was delicious and reasonably priced. I don’t drink alcohol and would return for the mocktails alone great variety 🎉 highly recommend.

If you are on a cruise ship and sticking around the area stop here for lunch. The fish and chips were great (especially the tar tar sauce!) And also had the Sunday Roast which was excellent. Prices were very reasonable and service was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Hadn’t been to The Exchange before (had been the previous iteration many times in my 20s) and was really surprised at the quality of the layout, so different from the rather nondescript exterior. The staff were superb, very friendly and attentive. Great food that arrived quickly even though the restaurant was quite busy) and really really good espresso.

Food is always consistent the service is usually good ,however this evening it was not so good ,the bar staff were stressed out and we sat for nearly 15 minutes without being served ,I eventually went to the bar to order our drinks and we still waited another 10 minutes I went back to the bar again , the boy who took my original order seemed unaware of ever speaking to me ! ,maybe he was on another planet ! When we came to pay our bill they charged us again for the bottle of wine we had already paid for in the bar !

What a really fabulous venue. Had a lovely family meal which everyone enjoyed. Very attentive staff. Only one comment I would make is that one of our company has to follow a GF diet & when it comes to desserts there is only one suitable for her and its been the same one for years.

Not the best tbh. Husband had the version and was lovely. I had the chilli chicken burger which was overcooked, dry and difficult to cut and the brioche bun was.. wait for it… microwaved to melt the cheese which was then inedible. Staff came to table to take plates away while the other half was clearly still eating. Plates lifted and no communication. First time I’ve never left a tip.. had booked for lunch with a friend but promptly cancelled.

If you like good plain food at good prices this place is excellent. By plain, I don't mean tasteless, the food is very tasty. I mean not poncy and chefy. It can get very busy and very noisy. Not loud music, it's very popular (not surprising) and lots of your families. If you don't like that sort of noise maybe think again. The service can be slow, but if it's worth having it's worth waiting for.

Had coronation chicken ciabatta for lunch-delicious. Service is always quick and friendly staff.

Went with 3 friends from work, 2 got the chicken skewers and some seasoned chips - both ladies rated their meals highly and stated the sauce that came with it was delicious and the meal was served with great presentation. My 3rd friend had the enchilada and didn't stop til he was done, when he took a breath from scoffing it when we asked how it was he exclaimed it was outstanding. I can confirm that my meal, the chicken supreme, also met the same standard in presentation, portion size and outstanding deliciousness. The staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. Would highly recommend and would definitely return. We also had teas and coffees of great quality too, each served with a small square of tablet, a nice touch we all appreciated, which melted in the mouth. Lovely place to dine.

Excellent food, chef Dylan Tawse has an outstanding gift. Best food I have had in years. Staff were attentive and friendly. I cannot fault our visit.

Always enjoy the food and can't fault the service. If I had one thing to change I'd turn the music down it's too loud for a restaurant. It's too difficult to hear each other talk at the table. It's the one thing that I struggle with.

Was a family get together for my daughter's 30th birthday. Excellent service, staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Had my daughter's 21st here also as we couldn't book anywhere for a party because of Christmas party nights but we booked tables for 60 people and the management were extremely helpful then as they were for the 30th this year. Thank you everyone at The Exchange.

Worse place in town. Service non existent. Grew a beard waiting to get fed.

Attended the exchange with the family to celebrate my brother-in-laws 30th birthday 🎂. We all had a fab time and we all made to feel very welcome at all times, it was also all decorated for Christmas so the place looked extra special 🎄 We had our 11 month old with us and they even heated up his food we had brought with us for him. Will definitely go back again.

Been here so many times, never had a bad experience. The staff are always wonderful. I have my favourites on the menu but there are so many tasty options. The open steak sandwich is a thing of beauty. Do yourself a favour and pay this place a visit.
