Great pub food which is well presented and tested lovely. Service was excellent on very attentive. 😊

Was only in for drinks but they were reasonably priced and the surroundings were clean. Handy for the train station

This is a review covering a few visits. We popped in yesterday for dinner. I ordered a steak and sausage pie with mash and veg. The waitress returned a few minutes later and said they didn't have any sausages for the steak pies, or mashed potato, so I said that was fine and ordered it with chips. She then later returned and said they didn't have any pie lids! This wasn't a major crisis so I ordered something else. They were also running out of Merlot wine. This isn't the first time this has happened. There have been a couple of previous occasions where we have ordered the salmon and prawn salad and they've been out of prawns. We were also in one sunny day for a drink and the bar ran out of wine and the staff had to dash to a shop to pick up more! How is that even possible? Also, I recommend the restaurant to some friends and I brought them for lunch one day but the restaurant was freezing cold, so they said they wouldn't be back. The staff are all great and friendly and the food is great as well but it would seem that someone isn't keeping an eye on the stock for food and drink and yesterday the waiting staff weren't aware of the shortage of steak pies, so the communication from the kitchen could be better. Also, we have been in a few times and the various waiting staff never tell us or the other customers what the Soup of the Day is. You're supposed to be a business promoting and selling these things. I always think the customer shouldn't have to ask this. Other restaurants do this and it's a frustration of mine. Many thanks.

Visited with friends. Bought 4 breakfasts and the blackpudding in all looked as if it had been halved between 2. Rock solid as it was so thin. Cooking time of slice and sausage questionable too. We visit often, but had the same situation a few days later. Ripping people off when paying almost £70 for 4 breakfast and drinks.

Very friendly staff, chilled atmosphere, tasty well presented food, a menu for dogs and an adorable Labrador pub dog called Jovi 🐾🐾❤️ what more could you ask for. We're already making plans to come back to the West coast and we will definitely be visiting One Bruce Street Bar and Kitchen again.

I went today for the second time for food and wow!! it did not fail to please both my pallet and the service I got , I can't believe how young the waitresses were and yet the service I recieved it was second to none , the only other place I have recieved service like it ,is the coast, in Langbank. I would say if you are the manager ,or owner of this establishment , give yourself ,and your staff a pat on the back .we'll done !!

Chicken pie was brilliant, big portions and lovely atmosphere!

Recently went for lunch with a friend and my dog. Absolutely blown away by how kind and welcoming the staff were. Very attentive to us and to my wee dog. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch experience 😋 😊

Quiet drink in the evening, service was good, beer was good. It was quiet, they had a quiz night later.

Food is so delicious and you dont have to wait for it for long quite efficient our fav eating place

This was recommended to me as having good food and good service, sadly service was lacking as we waited too long in between getting our food courses. Staff were excellent, but i think the hold up was down to kitchen staff and chef, Timings of food between courses will need to improve before I make a return anytime soon.

Been a few times now and I will definitely need a few more visits to eat my way through the menu..food is absolutely delicious and very good prices too, great Gluten Free options too and so fresh they have lots more im desperate to try .. staff are so nice as well.

I honestly can't say that I have ever had a more stupendous brunch in my life! It was substantial but mainly it was packed with utter quality ingredients! The bacon, eggs, sausage, black pudding, haggis and mushrooms could all have been award winners! Exquisite potatocake too. It defeated me so it was a shame I had to leave some on my plate! Would cert return if I'm ever up that way. Thanks to wonderful staff and chefs!

Best pub in Greenock, especially since Gary took over. Staff great, dog friendly, food on point and a good range of draught beers, and beer garden beats anywhere in Scotland! Sun from rise until dawn when it decides to come out twice a year! Also about 1 minute walk to train station and taxi rank for easy transport. Highly recommend this pub.

My Friends and I had a meal & drinks at One Bruce Street last weekend, it was 5 stars all round!!! Food was amazing definitely recommend the chicken parmigiana & Korean sticky beef. Cocktails were also superb & we would recommend the bramble it was delicious. The service during our meal was excellent, we were all very well looked after. The restaurant & bar itself has such a welcoming cozy feel to it & the perfect space to start your night with a great meal & then move over to the bar area, we all had a great time & we will defo be returning & will recommend to friends and family. Thanks Team One Bruce street.

We enjoyed it here. The food was very good at a decent price and the staff were attentive. I really enjoyed my chicken pie and starter of scallops. The drinks were nice too. If I had one slight negative it would be there was no fruit in the cocktails but only a presentation issue as they tasted good. Already arranged to go back.

Nice place. Ordered Philly cheese steak. Tasted nice but I’m afraid it lacked steak. Not worth the £13. Staff were lovely and very friendly and did give me a discount when I pointed out the lack of steak.

Beautiful little bistro feel restaurant … best Chicken Parmigiana I’ve EVER tasted!!! Attentive and charming staff … get here … we don’t want to lose this little gem from Greenock.

This place has definitely improved since the last time I visited. The food was amazing, best I've tasted in a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be back again soon.

Meal last night with family, all 7 of us enjoyed our food. Been a number of times with my wife, friends or family, always tasty food, decent price, service great, good family run bar/restaurant. Would recommend the seafood spaghetti, chicken parmigiana which my daughter loves and the steak sandwich which is my son’s favourite. My uncle had the fish and chips last night which looked good, he has a small appetite but ate most of it.

Second time here recently since new owner. Chef is fabulous, staff are courteous and professional and the decor is lovely. On a par with our usual Cafe Continental and Scott's....my only complaint is...it needs coal fires and candles!!

2023: Had Christmas dinner here and the food was amazing. My friend had the fish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great value Christmas menu. Lovely staff and service. (See last two pics). 2022: Really friendly staff and great service. Quite a quiet night but a good atmosphere nonetheless. Will definitely be back

Went for dinner with my Mothers birthday, pleasantly surprised with the standard of food. All very tasty, excellent portions sizes and reasonably priced for what you get. Service was friendly and efficient. Was a really nice atmosphere until around 8:30-9pm when the loud dance music from the bar at the other side of the establishment started to play. Almost felt like it was to move folk out from the restaurant area. Otherwise pretty good!

Today my sister would have been 60, so my other sister and I chose your place to eat a meal in her memory and raise a glass to her. My sister Caroline was fierce, exacting and had high standards - you wouldn't cross her! Cancer tried to tell her she had six months, over two years later she was still telling it to 'do one' in her own determined way. She would have approved of your venue, the warmth we received from your staff when walking in was lovely. Caroline would have also liked the staff member who greeted me (like a long lost cousin) on arrival and looked after us all night. The amazing food we had tonight would have been a big hit with my sister, did I mention she LOVED food. After one of her operations I was visiting her in hospital. It had been a long operation and she was clearly still in pain and tired. She had her own room. Out of nowhere she asked me to hand her the cutlery and push the table up the bed. I didn't question it, I just did what I was asked. Suddenly the door opened and in walked a lady with a tray of food. I swear my sister had a sixth sense where food was concerned!!! Lol, I sat (in astonishment) as she polished off a three course meal 🤣🤣 Anyway, back to YOUR gorgeous food, I had the chicken pie and it's the best pie I've ever eaten, hands down! Just the right amount of pastry on top and gallons of tender chicken inside. That sauce , exquisite! The al dente seasonal vegetables - sublime! I'm a fully qualified chef and pastry chef - so your chefs need to take my remarks as a HUGE compliment from someone who really knows food. Would I recommend your establishment - YES Will I return, in a heart beat! What could you do better - nothing at all. The entire experience was a delight from start to finish. My other sister doesn't even stay in Greenock but (as we drove off) she was already checking out train routes in order to bring her husband over for a meal!! Thank you for ending a difficult day on a high. Caroline would have definitely approved 😉 PS the dogs will try the doggy menu too next time

Staff were lovely and welcoming, it our first time here and is our new favourite place to go eat! drinks served fast and food was very quick for such a busy evening kids loved the mac and cheese didnt waste a drop, i had the chicken pie and it was amazing! My other half had a steak cooked to perfection. I couldnt help myself and had to get a dessert the cheesecake was fantastic i love orange choc! cannot recommend this place enough the kids were a bit unsettled as kids are lol but were given crayons and happily drew while we waited. will be back soon. Great food with excellent choice & staff very friendly, went for the pub quiz on Wednesday night which was great fun. Very good atmosphere. It's also dog friendy with the most gorgeous in house dog.

Hi, I dined at 1 Bruce Street recently with my friends. Food was nice, table service was very good, however I overheard the woman owner/manager being very rude and degrading to her staff members. I must say not a very nice way to speak to the hard working employees and for this reason alone you have lost a returning customer.

Brilliant. Played a gig here on a Friday night. Staff were excellent. Everyone was so nice. Can't wait to come back

While exploring Greenock we popped in here randomly for lunch. Turned out to be amazing food, great beer, and super friendly staff. The owner and his wife were so nice to us, and he chatted with us about about the local history, Scotland as a whole and traveling. They opened in February and we wish we could go back more frequently (maybe one day we’ll get back to Scotland!). Such a nice spot. Great vibes all around, One Bruce Street - Best of luck!

What an amazing find in Greenock. Food, beer, service, music (playlist) all great. Very cozy too!!

Firstly, I would like to say that this is no longer referred to as Nicolson's but One Bruce Street. We searched for a dog friendly place to eat lunch and this venue popped up. We visited on 11 August . On arrival, we were met by a very friendly young woman who confirmed that the premises were dog friendly and we could choose to sit in the beer garden or the right hand section of the bar. We chose to sit indoors. Our party consisted of my husband and I and our daughter and husband plus their dog. We were then attended by a very polite, friendly and charming young man. In conversation, we discovered that the couple had taken over the pub in February and had worked hard with family to decorate and refurb to an excellent standard for opening on Feb 14th. The choice of menu was excellent, giving us a choice of the main menu and a lighter brunch menu. My goodness, the quality was excellent and the quantity also. We all chose from the brunch menu and I selected soup and panini , thinking that this would consist of a small portion of soup. How wrong was I ? The soup was home made and delicious and a full portion. All the others were delighted with their choices also. We were just passing through on our homeward journey but if we are ever in the area again, we will without doubt revisit. This couple deserve to be well supported in their new venture and we only hope that they reap the rewards that they deserve. Keep up the good work - they have all it takes to make perfect "mine hosts".

Great food and service with good portions

Had a lovely meal. Gary was welcoming and pleasant. It was our anniversary and Gary graciously gave us a discount. We went on a Monday afternoon so it was pretty quiet. Would like to visit again at a busier time to comment on the atmosphere. Definitely be back

New owner, new look, new menu. Food and service were great. Seats inside and out and dog friendly (inside and out). Owner working a shift and came out with food to the tables. Mac n Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak and Chicken Pie all hit the mark. Nice vibe and would definitely recommend. Will go back.

Great impromptu lunch here. Googled for a dog friendly place and that couldn't be more true. Owners/managers/staff all love dogs and even had theirs in with them. Lunch food was amazing too and good value. We will be back! 👍

This was first time here, and was with bf. It was a great atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. For starters bf got the Scallops and I got the Prawns. Prawns was lovely And had a terrific sauce! For mains bf got Philly Cheesesteak I got a Grilled Chicken. We both ordered the 8oz steak but they were all out 😞 but explained why. But this chicken I got was amazing - a little too small a chicken for me lol BUT i eat ALOT of chicken 🍗 tbh. And we both got the Sticky Toffee Pudding which was one of the best we’ve had in Inverclyde! I defo recommend to go here!

First visit on a quiet Monday lunch. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Menu was extensive making the choice difficult:-) We had the fish and chips which came beautifully presented and was a very generous portion as well as delicious. Very reasonable price and will be back again soon.

Had lunch here with friends. Had macaroni and tasted fresh and creamy. Salad had a lovely dressing. It was lunchtime and only downside was it needs more heating. Will be fine in better weather., 🙂

Went to Nicholsons for lunch there since its been taken over and food was absolutely brilliant Portions were massive and was only £41.50 for two meals, two desserts, two drinks and two cups of tea Recommend the steak pie. 5 stars *

Fantastic service and food. Couldn't complain about anything. Staff were very attentive and our food was cooked quickly and was delicious. Been several times and never had bad service, even when busy. We will definitely be back. May even try the cappuccinos next time.

Five of us had dinner...every meal was delicious, piping hot and fresh

Been here numerous times, service normally great. However today service has been. Shocking. Since here only 6 people in whole place and 6 staff members, not once have we been asked if everything OK been here 2.5 hrs. Also when asking for a cappuccino was served in a coffee cup, with no sugar or teaspoon. Told no large cups as keeps getting smashed can clearly see at least 10 cups hanging up. Had to clear empty glasses, sauce bottles and dirty dishes from our table. Everytime we needed something, drinks, deserts, we had to go find someone. Was made to feel like we were interrupting staffs social life. So disappointing as every time we have been here service has been perfect, but today has left a lot to be desired.

Was in the beer garden for some food , I got fajitas served really quick . They were fkn delightful well impressed a solid 8/10 would deffo go back . Young crowd good atmosphere and good lay out .

Not what we expected but very nice. There is a bar, restaurant and DJ dance area with bar. It was very loud. The food was excellent very tasty, good size portions and reasonably priced. Would definitely go again now we know what to expect and be ready for a dance later in the evening. Could be cleaner.

Staff were under pressure as it was very busy...food took too long to come out. Had booked for 5.30pm, didn't get starter till after 6, hence were rushing to eating main course as taxi was booked for 7pm , had to ask taxi to wait till we finished. Food was nice though...

Our meal was perfect. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming.

Most enjoyable. Big band plays every Tuesday night 20h00 till 22h30. Come along and support the band while enjoying a few drinks.
