The Esplanade Cafe in Bridgend

Nice little cafe right on the sea front. Lovely breakfast, pleasant staff and reasonably priced. Happy to recommend.

Located near the Prom with good parking. Good choice of food well presented and served without delay. Excellent choice of Italian coffees. Good start to the day.

I have been to this cafe many times and the food has always been good but beware of the owner he has a bad attitude and dont mix his words. My order was wrong and he blamed me for it and ignored me when I asked if the order would be put right. If you can put up with bad manners go there I prefer good food correct service and a friendly smile I wont be back.

My brother really enjoyed his chicken tikka wrap, however was a little disappointed about not having a panini.

A real go to place for great value and tasty food, Veggie breakfasts are lovely, and also recommend the eggs benedict.

My elderly mother and I came to No 1 The Esplande for lunch yesterday and were really impressed with the prices and the quality of the food. It was also lovely to be served at the table rather than ordering at the counter. Excellent food, value for money and service 😊. Thank you

Once again our visit to this business for a quick breakfast was well worth it. Having visited regularly over the summer the excellent weather and this prime locthis means a small wait but the staff were continually on the go providing reassurance to those waiting for their food if it was delayed for whatever reason. Good was tasty hot and the place was clean. A small premises inside so in inclement weather gets full quickly. Thank you all. We will return soon

We have visited this cafe a lot over the years. But last Friday was a shambles, we went in as normal and ordered a toasty and a sandwich plus 2 cups of tea. The tea came quick enough but after 30 minutes I call a waitress over to ask about our food, as we notice that for 20 minutes nothing came out of the kitchen. The waitress came back saying they were just making it, but they had mis-placed our order. We got our sandwiches 45 minutes after our order. The last straw for me was a couple who came in 20 minutes after us got there food first. After we had finished I went to see the lady who appeared to be in charge and to say I was not happy. She offered some of our money back, Which I would not take, as all I was after was a sincere apology. Which I did not get, as the kept lady smiling through out. You can not treat customers that way if you want them to come back.

Popped in to promote local charity start up of Porthcawl JOY-riders and Steve Griffiths the owner most graciously offered us a fundraising meal voucher and promised to display our poster. If most local businesses follow suit then we will be able to start up on time for this September. P.S. have previously dined here before, wonderful food and service in an excellent seafront location.

Had the mist fabulous eggs Benedict here with added mushrooms as I’m a vegetarian really lovely would highly recommend I was after traditional welsh breakfast with larver bread but this was my second choice as not available … staff lovely nice and clean and organised

Dogs not allowed, which is fair enough, but keeping you waiting 40 minutes knowing you are outside in the freezing cold for a regular breakfast was a bit much, particularly when fellow dog owners who we took to be regulars, judging by their welcome, arrived 10 minutes after us, and had been served, eaten their breakfast and left before ours arrived. Won't go again.

its gone down..cuttlery tables floor general appearance shabby...needs a good clean from top to bottom..used to be good but Standards have slipped big time glasses dirty knives and folks dirty everything horrible including the food cold plates food tasted horrid....really horrible the whole experience...What a Shame cos this cafe used to be nice..We have Covid and the place should be cleaned ridgedly every day...if health and safety saw this i think they would close it for a thougher clean....Really Disappointed as this was a nice place once....they need a Shack up to get back on track.....

During our four day stay in Porthcawl, we had breakfast here two days running. Don't be put off by exterior, it needs a paint job but the food, tea, coffee and staff are all excellent. It is very clean inside, the staff are clean and very smart and importantly, the quality of the food and drinks are excellent. In the two days, we had a mix of; Full English Breakfast, Toasted Tea Cakes, Toasted Fruit Loaf, (ran out of Tea cakes on our second visit) :) Also, Poached Eggs on Toast. I don't know who's coffee they use but I liked it, Americano, so had two cups. :)) Also it was a lot cheaper than the B&B we were staying in. We'll be back, next time we're down there.

We have been coming here for years to an excellent breakfast and coffee ,BUT today the amerinco coffee was like dish water,did send it back but 2nd cup no better .The regular breakfast seemed tiny, compared w.ith a year ago but the vegetarian breakfast was excellent !

The order was simple, one toastie, and one sausage & egg sandwich. Came to the table wrong. But worse by far was their cleaning routine. The lady cleaning the tables first cleaned the seats that people had just been sitting on, then with the same...

Popped in on a rainy day for a coffee, was a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Social distancing rules applied.

Greeted with a smile and proceeded to serve up a fantastic breakfast and a beer, which was reasonably priced especially for a seafront cafe. 5 stars. Beer was cold too 👍

Where to start number 1 bought wrong breakfast 2 ordered extra toast when it came was brown bread instead of white and came when I nearly finished 3 asked for brown sauce came same time as toast my opinion staff set on for looks and...

Very friendly and lovely cafe. The decor is gorgeous and welcoming. Love the chandelier! The staff are great and very accommodating. They were lovely to my kids which helped me to relax. The food was cooked to perfection! Best fried eggs! I love runny fried...
