Great range of beers, fantastic atmosphere, love the music

We were recently on holiday from Sydney and visited The Elk. Brilliant, cool bar with a great atmosphere and very friendly staff.

The Elk beer 🍺 goes down very nicely and a good choice of whisky 🥃 as well. Only reason not 5* was they got my final drinks order wrong 🤪 Didn't eat anything so can't rate that!

Love this place. Great staff DJ was great.

£34.50 for a bottle of Prosecco. Jesus Christ! Second round, ordered a bottle of cava that was advertised on a board as £28.50 and still charged £34.50 as the board ‘needed updating’. Know it’s Hale but this is still an absolute pisstake.

Good pint selection, fair prices. I’m disappointed that I’ve lived in the area for a this long without going in. The individual screens at each booth are a huge positive for football, too often I’m in a bar and leave with a sore neck trying to get a good view - not the case here. Will be making this our go to spot for casual drinks/football now, really impressed. There were some negative reviews on here about wait times at the bar - not our experience whatsoever.

Great little bar in middle of Hale with good gins all round! Still as good as ever but they run the new cocktail bar Westgate across the road which has no TV's which is 100% better so visit both will be my recommendation!

Although quieter than expected, who entered the Elk Bar had an excellent night all round..And with Vito the food bar other the road we have a winning combination for a great night out..

Great place for a drink and to watch the footie and the lads behind the bar are a great laugh.

I visited the Elk on the evening of 23rd September before going out to a restaurant in the village. On arrival I stood at the bar for 5 minutes without any service, a rude barman then appeared and informed that I had to sit and wait for table service. We waited a further 25 minutes without any service, in that time the one barman walked past our table several times going outdoors for a period of time without any acknowledgement to the fact we had not been served. I appreciate that this is a challenging period for business, I would however strongly recommend visiting another bar if you expect any level of service.

Great place for craft beers and unusual brews. Homely atmosphere with TV’s at each table..... great for a soccer night! The place is always busy but well worth a visit or three! Recommend the Brooklyn Bridge Lager.....epic drink.

Nice, small bar to drink in. Very relaxed. Went with friends for pre dinner drinks and found it enjoyable. Only downside is that they advertise cocktails online but looked at me like I had 3 heads when I tried to order one!

Spent a lovely Saturday night just before Christmas with a group of friends in this lovely bar. We occupied a booth near the door which had plenty of sitting and standing room for our large group. Great atmosphere and as the night went on other friends joined the group. I love this place as its always a good atmosphere, Alex and the staff are great and very friendly.The music was brilliant and this added to a fun xmas night out. Many thanks.

Regularly stop off on our walks through Hale. Small place so it can get busy. You can reserve a table which can be useful. A few televisions on the wall so always good to catch a football game. Choice of beers et. is really good and they often have specials (the wife likes the gin specials!!). Dog friendly place.

Great little bar with a fantastic atmosphere. I've been in a few times with friends and always had a good time. The staff are friendly and welcoming and they have a superb selection of beers and loads of different Gins. Great for sport and dog friendly, what more could you ask for. 100% recommended.

Called into the Elk yesterday afternoon with the wife and our little dog ,it’s great to see dogs are welcome . It’s felt like the start of Christmas with the amazing decorations and the mulled wine .Great service and choice of drinks . Will definitely be back soon 🍺🍺🍺

Started our work’s Christmas Party off at The Elk, amazing Christmas decorations , and thank you to the staff for excellent service and great atmosphere as always, love this bar and a must to visit in December to see the Christmas decs and taste the mulled wine 😋😊 🎄

Very rude and unpleasant staff, made to feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable by various members of staff, would rather stab pins in my eyes than go back here!

If this was my business I would be worried, staff are more about having a night out for themselves. That’s all I’m going to say X

Chilled with lovely decor , small.and cute with added bonus of a brilliant outside seating area which is unexpected . Staff are nice and friendly . Variety of drinks. Worth a visit

A snall charming bar, reminiscent of my college at university, where there is an amazing array of drinks and not focussed on the big guns. A hint of gentle free spirit that knows no boundaries the staff are great, service excellent and a great place; it is who it is rather than pretending to be somewhere else and that is refreshing.

Didn’t expect to find an apres ski bar in the middle of Hale! Great music, good service, surprised at the value for money drinks compared to the rest of Hale. Will definitely come back, really enjoyed it.

Friday night and it was buzzing. Welcoming bar staff. Mixed types of seating. Nice toilets. Only had time for 1 round but will definitely return.

Very nice little bar but a good atmosphere when you enter. Apparently they sell different lagers and all the other drinks you can normally buy.

Have been here on a few occasions and the staff are flippant and rude. Drinks -£18 for three drinks - all single measures is astonishing even for hale ! Manager said that I picked the most expensive wine - Sauvignon Blanc !, just as well I didn't ask for a Sancerre! This place will always be busy but it's a rip off bar with nothing special about it at all . I had to clear a dirty table tables of drinks and bottles before sitting down whilst the staff just looked at me and didn't even say thanks. Will not be back

We have visited this bar on several occasions. Great beers and nice atmosphere and friendly bar staff. The bar is attracting too many dog owners (seems to be a trend) who see fit to frequent with their four legged friends. The bar isn't massive and it was starting to get a bit ridiculous with 4-5 pooches in there too. Especially annoying when the dogs start to bark. Ignorant owners let them get in the way of access to the bar area and sniff around those queuing at the bar. It's a shame as it puts me off what could be a nice little watering hole.

Good place to go. Lively atmosphere good friendly bartenders. Great craft beers. Well worth a visit.

Went here based on TripAdvisor rating. Disappointed that the main bar had numerous TV screens showing Premier League match. (Don’t recall this being mentioned in the TripAdvisor reviews!). Terrible. Then we were told there was seating downstairs. That was nice. Probably won’t go again

This is one of those trendy bars where you pay 50% too much for anything you order. Beers are ok, but not that special. When ever I can I walk passed this place as it’s just not good value and there is never a place to sit sound with you friends

My boyfriend used to live just around the corner from here and we went on many occasions. Whether for a coffee in the day or for drinks in the evening, it was always great and the bar staff always super chatty and friendly. Since we have moved into Altrincham we don't tend to go as often but still make the effort on occasion, it's just a lovely little place, I can't fault it.

Popped in for a coffee and it provided a nice change to Costa. The barman was chatty and the Illy coffee was delicious.

Nice cosy bar, with good friendly atmosphere. A small outside area goes unnoticed but is there if you look hard enough. Beware out door courtyard does close around 8pm.

Popped into the bar on the evening of Bank Holiday Monday primarily because my friend and I required a taxi back to Manchester Airport and didn't have any local numbers. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and provided us with a telephone number immediately. I then sat back and enjoyed a pint of pale ale in this contemporary and trendy bar.

One of the guys behind the bar is so rude can't believe he chose a job dealing with the public. Maybe it's a Hale thing !

Great bar. Family run by locals. Good mix of both girly and manly drinks. The Brooklyn is an excellent brew.

This place is not bad. Always quite lively, but rather small. The size means that if you get one largish party turn up (say8-12 people) then it will feel overcrowded very quickly, but then jump to feeling deserted by time they leave. Difficult to strike a right balance. Also, there is only one bathroom each for men and women, so the queue can get quite long. The drinks are rather expensive for what they are. Given that the place has more of a pub feel and look to it, you would think prices were a bit more reasonable. It's a nice enough venue, just watch the step if you are sitting at a table. Finally they also have a downstairs area which you can book out for occasions which may fit 30-40 people comfortably (providing they are shorter than 6'2", as head space is pretty limited).

Brilliant bar, staff are lovely, great atmosphere and great drinks, a little pricey but it's well worth the cost. The downstairs is a tad cold in winter but very cosy, the upstairs is well designed and has undergone a perfect refurbishment. This is a very unique bar and in a very quiet but lovely village :) I love it here!

Great beer, great location and great staff. Wine is good to. This is one of the bars in Hale. You do not have to be a footballer it helps but all are welcome, cool bar.

This ski resort style bar is small and quaint with some great booths. Lager drinkers are fine but the rotating cask beers are a bit eclectic with ginger, elder flower and such things regularly featuring

Many a village need a bar like this. Chilled, no idiots, great staff, good beer. A great addition to Hale and looking forward to my next visit.

What a great space deceptive from the outside larger than it looks. Great staff vibrant and fun. Always busy and has that comfortable feel. Smart casual.

Really limited menu; I believe all they offer at lunchtime is wraps & salad, but on this day their suppliers had to fail to supply them with salad, so it was just wraps!

It's got a good chilled atmosphere. The downstairs room is cosy and the drinks are good. The bar staff are friendly. All round a good place to go
