Food was excellent, was busy but staff were attentive and wait wasn't too long. Like this place a lot

The customer service at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. We waited an unreasonably long time for a waitress to take our order, and basic hospitality—like offering a drink while we browsed the menu—was completely lacking. The staff appeared untrained and indifferent, often walking past with blank expressions, ignoring clear attempts to get their attention. The food took far too long to arrive, and when it finally did, it was mediocre at best. The atmosphere felt pretentious, with dying plants scattered around, and there was no sense of warmth or welcome. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Being visually impaired with a cane almost taller than me, I dread small, busy spaces. Rather than use the menu, staff discussed options with me then escorted me to a table (damage limitation). Whilst waiting, I could observe that the three floor staff worked well independently and collectively, supporting and complimenting colleagues to deliver an overall superior service. Food items always seem of a good quality and contents favour ethical choices. The shop is truly inclusive, not wheelchair easy access ( two precarious steps at the door) but in fine weather, ample outside seating facilitates all. A venue to be highly commended.

Portions have got bigger to make up for the price (I don't blame restaurants slowly increasing price like BF have done). Vegetarian breakfast is in the top 5 in the UK

Excellent choice for a vegan lunch. Waitress very friendly and helpful and recommended The Longford sandwich. It was busy however we waited only 15 minutes before being served by our lovely waitress. I wasn't expecting my sandwich to be so impressive as I'm often disappointed with vegan food eating out. The Longford is a sandwich with Houmous, Roasted Aubergine, Spiced Tomato Chutney & Organic Leaf on Sourdough. This was a generous portion and the Houmous was the tastiest I've had. Parsley freshened the pallet and the chutney was a perfect addition to the Houmous. I enjoyed every mouthful. It was a delight to have a well presented vegan option. Highly recommend this and at £11 felt it was good value for the portion size and quality. I would definitely visit again. Thank you to the staff and cooks! The food was fine, when it eventually arrived almost an hour after ordering. We had to take it out in takeout boxes as we ran out of time. Too many covers for the poor chef to cope with?

The environment inside the store is comfortable, the waiters are friendly, and the coffee and food taste good.

Headlines - Noisy atmosphere, slow service, average food. We arrived at 11.45am and were told we’d have to wait for half an hour to order food as the chefs were ‘changing over from the breakfast to lunch menu’- slightly confusing as it’s a brunch venue, but oh well. We were told that we could order drinks and then wait 15 minutes and order our food then, so we went inside. The table we were shown to was a bit dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned before we sat down. The staff were very friendly but they took our drinks order and then lost it so after 30 minutes we hadn’t received our drinks at all and had to remind them. The decor is lots of hard surfaces and the ceiling low, so any conversation bounces off the hard surfaces and makes a cacophonous din, making relaxed conversation difficult. The food arrived and was of mixed quality. The kids chicken and beans was nice quality. I had the chicken schnitzel and although it was a large portion it was disappointing. It was a bit pink inside and somehow simultaneously quite hard. The chips were a bit wizened and not very warm. We had to ask for the bill twice, which again took a long time to arrive. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back as it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable meal.

We come in without expectations since it was a spontaneous breakfast visit. We ordered from the special menu of the day. We loved the food, the presentation was amazing, and the taste was 5 stars. I would recommend people to order from that memlnu if they visit you won't regret it. Also, coffee was such a good quality. They come at a warm temperature ready to drink, so if you want to drink while you eat, order them after you have ordered food.

Fabulous as always! We have been going to Blanchflower Altrincham at least once a month for years and it’s always lovely food with great staff too. Last night we tried the Friday Bistro Evening and the food was absolutely wonderful! Really interesting dishes cooked with care and presented beautifully. They are only doing 5 more Fridays I think so book in before it stops, you won’t regret it.

We usually come for brekkie, brunch and lunch, can’t get enough of the freshly made food there! This time we tried out the Friday evening meal and oh my gosh, we absolutely loved every mouthful. It tasted just as amazing as it looked. I don’t want to carry on gushing but oh my gosh! I hope they keep doing this as we definitely want to visit again.

Really jarring experience as the first time I went here, food was great. Visited a second time a short while back and got the French toast, it was absolutely abysmal. Greasy, flavourless, honestly inedible. I was shocked that the dish was allowed to be served and made it out the kitchen. I did tell the staff who removed the item from the receipt, but honestly not sure how they can hire people who can’t even make a decent brunch dish? Shocking. Won’t be coming back again.

Been coming here for a few years but we now walk out if the right chef isn't working that day. The last 3 times we visited the food has not been up to standard and it is always the same chef on shift that day. To the owners a clue...we vistited today..11th June...always the same chef.We will not go back any more until this chef has gone.Staff are great,very friendly but this chef has to go.We actually watch this guy prepare food as it has an open kitchen.Get rid of him.

Carl here from Alibi, the bar next door. We love Blanchflower, not just because they're neighbours but because we regularly enjoy the food and drink they serve. Most notably, the team here is friendly, accomodating and also has seemingly been in place for a long time. I'd like to call out Hannah, Grace, Lewis, Via, Rona, Chef and Paddy and of course Phil, for fab and kind service. In my humble opinion, as a resident of this town, we need places of this quality. Not just expecting customers to come in because their location is good, but honouring their guests with great stuff. Keep up the good work guys. Carl @ Alibi

Simply fabulous food. The blanchflower fry was delicious. Service was great too! I would highly recommend to anyone going for a nice lunch in sale.

I recently visited Blanchflower and was impressed by the great staff . Despite being incredibly busy with 15-minute waiting times, the team remained professional and attentive. I ordered the full breakfast, accompanied by a delicious hot chocolate and fresh orange juice. While not the cheapest option, the quality of the food and service made it worth every penny. I highly recommend Blanchflower for great food & service.

The breakfast here is very rich, and vegetarian breakfast is also available. A good choice.

If you want to have the best breakfast in the area, you have to try this place. The ambiance, the waitstaff, the food! Everything is delightfully delicious. The prices are quite similar to London, which surprised me, but it's worth it.

This is an interesting place with some really good food options. The ambience is quite different and laid back. The service was prompt and courteous. The food is of great quality. We had the fried chicken sandwich coupled with the soup of the day. For £2.50, i would say that the quantity of soup was too less (that is why 4 *). But the taste was quite good. The home made focaccia was excellent! Would definitely recommend if you are visiting the alty market!

Went with my daughter for lunch, I was disappointed with my choice, fried chicken filet (tiny!) between two squares of focaccia untoasted bread, with salad ( no dressing, bland) came with a spoonful of house coleslaw. Uninspiring and overpriced! Won’t be returning any time soon. ☹️

In my opinion this place does the best brunches in Altrincham, and there is a fair amount of competition. Staff are always friendly, usually find you a table even when it's busy.

The coffee is good here, shame there were no Croissants left as at the little blanchflower in chorlton these are very nice! Also very dog friendly. :) Will come back again for some cake.

First time trying this place and it is a gem if you choose wisely! I took my mum for a little brunch date. My meal; the weekend special - ham hock and cheese fritters with eggs (photo) was phenomenal. And could have ordered again there and then - would HIGHLY recommend. My Mum’s meal was SUCH a disappointment hence the lack 5/5 stars. Ordering the eggs and sausage on sourdough, a simple meal given but the presentation was lacklustre and could have been a local greasy spoon cafe meal, with it plonked on plate (but not greasy spoon price mind!) Days later and she is still regretting her choice and we are laughing about its quality in comparison to mine. We wish we took a photo! The other slight issue was the temperature of the drinks, which were served warm not hot, so lasted a matter of a couple of minutes. Which meant the drinks were long gone by the time food came out, when I had to request another drink (a cold one this time). Despite knowing that our lovely Mother, Daughter day was wonderful, I am upset how my mum to whom this was a treat was left so disappointed by her meal. I would recommend this place but would say avoid the ‘standard’ dishes.

The breakfasts and coffee at Blanchflower are delicious!! It’s a great place for a Sunday brunch, followed by a trip to the market.

We went to the Blanchflower Dining Club last night (27 Jan 2024) - it was amazing! About 5 courses and each one very different, packed and punched with flavour and beautifully presented. There are top quality restaurants in Manchester with celebrity chefs who pull this off but nothing in Alty until now. Jeff Green has created something really special and the team at Blanchflower from the kitchen to front of house delivered it brilliantly. Something to look forward to again (as we will be back).

The board outside promotes sourdough bakery. When approaching young lady inside and asked her do you sell sourdough as described on the board outside she replied abruptly “No”. Then we asked “is it because you’ve sold out”? To which she replied “No we don’t sell it”. Then just stared as us. Change the board to avoid confusion and train your staff to treat potential customers with a little respect.

The staff are great at customer service and the food is very tasty. There was a minor issue when my girlfriend and I went to Blanchflower, however the waitress with glasses and her manager dealt with the issue very quickly, professionally and wiped the item from the bill and also applied my Blue Light Card to the price. They offered a replacement piece of food and a drink. We took them up on the drink. They were all very good with my dog and they are dog friendly both inside and out.

We had a very lovely brunch here last week. Good coffee and my smoked salmon benedict was delicious.

Exquisite Culinary Delight and Warm Hospitality I couldn't have made a better choice for a dining experience! Opting for the Pan Roast Rump Steak 🥩 was a culinary delight - cooked to perfection, accompanied by crispy potatoes 🥔, mushroom 🍄 terrine, and caramelized onions 🧅 that elevated the flavors to another level. The restaurant itself exuded charm with a warm atmosphere, and the staff demonstrated exceptional friendliness and attention to detail. If I find myself in this area again, this will undoubtedly be my go-to place. A truly memorable dining experience that seamlessly blended exquisite cuisine with top-notch hospitality. 🫶

Had a really nice lunch here. Tried the turkey plate, it looked really good and it was massive. But it tasted better than what I had expected. Will Def come back again very soon. Coffee was superb...

Only downside to this fabulous restaurant to go to for lunch is it can be so busy it can be hard to get a table.

I've only tried the cappuccino coffee in this place and it was one of the best ones I've ever had.

Pasta too thick and Guinea fowl was very dry, carbonara pasta comes with raw Parma ham that was too fatty wouldn’t recommend to anyone need to improve the menu. Starters were nice however, had the mackerel which was delicious.

Average place for breakfast. The English breakfast was okay but nothing special, the portion was small for a full breakfast for the price of £14. The green eggs and smoked salmon however was worth the money. The coffee was rather nice also. The atmosphere was incredibly loud and I could barely have a conversation with my partner without shouting, we visited at 10:30am. Service was adequate, had to wait quite a while for the bill. Overall not a bad place for breakfast, costing us £36 for two breakfasts and two cappuccinos, which is somewhat overpriced for what we got.

Great food, chefs do an incredible job with the menu offering and thier presention is great. It's excellent value for the quality of food you get here.

Every time we come we’ve managed to get served by Via, always a smile and loads of banter, makes visiting for the wonderful food even more special when you get above a beyond service. Thanks for another amazing one team! See you again soon

My son brought me to Altrincham and this cafe to enhance my visit . The person who served us was friendly and pleasant . The cafe was quiet , we ordered , well over 30 mins later out basic order arrived, with no apology .Obviously our hot drinks by this time were stone cold ! I had just bacon and muchroom in bread, hardly a difficult order to cook? it was barely tepid , the bread was so dry it was inedible , the flat mushrooms looked nice but it was both overcooked and instead of tasting of mushrooms all I could taste was very sour vinegar. And my son's plate of food was also barely tepid and no better in quality or taste. It all turned out to be a very lack luster experience , in no way representing the descriptions on the menu , and sadly we will not be returning, and certainly would not recommend it.

I felt a bit weird going here but I was glad the staff were lovely. I liked the fresh orange juice. The food was well presented and tasty. Would definitely go back. Parking on the road outside the market area is payable but limited to 2 hours in certain areas.

Blanchflower is my favorite Brunch Spot in Altrincham. The quality of food is incredible and everything tastes amazing. I love the Green Eggs with Smoked Salmon and the baked goods are also delicious. Service is great aswell, can just be a little bit noisy when its busy but the ambience and decor is lovely.

Another amazing visit. This time we took my GF’s niece for breakfast here. We were made up to see Via would be serving us again. Food was banging, atmosphere was great and Via took the time to make our little 6 year old laugh an explain the menu, always love coming here. Keep smashing it team ❤️

What a gem, love this place, food and service are always perfect. The three of us came in on Saturday to have a breakfast, we’d been many times before but on this occasion it was hammering it down raining, we managed to get seats under the extendable roof bit. Today we had a new waitress we’d never seen before called Via, she was awesome, I rarely ever tip but she went above an beyond to make us laugh, talk about dishes and just made us feel really welcome, we come as a couple normally but brought my misses best mate with us to show off the venue but with the food being as good as always an the extra table touches from Via it made the visit one we will all remember. This is a jewel of Altrincham. There is not a dish on the interesting and varied, freshly prepared menu we don’t like! It’s our fave go to place, for brunch, lunch or even a coffee and a cake. Hannah and her team are always so welcoming. If you’ve not been..where have you been. You will not be disappointed

This is the first time we visited this restaurant in chorlton, the food was excellent, the man that served us was friendly and welcoming. The woman looked miserable. However we will give it another go.

Came for lunch with my family a few days ago and was severely disappointed with my experience. Food was fine, nothing to write home about. Way too expensive for what is essentially egg on toast. Was incredibly noisy and could barely hear my family talking to me across the table The general staff were lovely. However, what I assume is the manager spent more time sitting chatting to her friends or taking up a table on her phone than doing anything else. It’s not a good look when you have a queue of customers out the door. Won’t be coming back

Blanchflower gets a 3 where it possibly deserves a 3 as it’s the 5th time this year I’ve visited and haven’t previously written a review … much the same experience each time. The first problem and it’s nothing they can do anything about is that the roof is so low, this makes it at times intolerably noisy inside and if you are at the back near the kitchens it’s very claustrophobic. They do however make nice cakes and pastries and do cook eggs well. The principal issue with Blanchflower is that the staff (nearly all of them) are so grumpy. They just seem so unhappy to serve as as soon as they go behind the counter and chatting with each other their demeanour changes. It’s a shame really as it makes such a difference when people that enjoy their job are looking after you. So, place cramped and stifling, food ok, staff miserable as sin.

I have been multiple times to the branch in Sale and today I had the best lunch I have ever had there. Miso salmon, crunchy asian salad and springrolls - it was so tasty and fresh!

I've been going to blanchflower for a very long time and have seen it develop from a little café to a proper gastropub. The actual chef is absolutely first class and performs well above gatropub standards: every dish is fresh, imaginative and very well presented. The combination of ingredients doesn't cease to amaze me. This is a casual lunch restaurant of very high quality; probably serving the best food in Altrincham on the basis of price compared to quality. Hannah the manager is very dynamic, professional and friendly and always happy to receive constructive criticism. The service is very good in general too. I highly recommend it!

The food is amazing every time without fail. I crave the buttermilk chicken sandwich most days and the tofu is amazing too. The service and staff are great and the manager is lovely too. Also they do great coffee 🙂

I go to both Blanchflower outlets and they never fail to deliver excellence. What I love especially is that everything is good. What I mean is if you have brunch, a pastry and a coffee then they are each banging.

Visited Blanchflower last Sunday and although busy as ever, the staff were super friendly and coffee and cakes fab! It is a big part of why Alty has that great buzz.

Don’t bother, rude manager when complaint about food being raw and possibly out of date. The bread smelt funky and tables were left unclean and uncleared for our duration. There are so many better places to eat. I certainly will not be back and would not entertain any of their other establishments.

OMG, what a dump, tables unlclearad and left for the duration. The food was tasteless and took an hour to arrive. I believe I saw mouse droppings in one corner of the cafe which I have reported to Trafford council. Avoid at all costs!!!

This is a review for the SALE branch !!! Food is always amazing we love it here. However the only thing that lets the place down is the service, the staff are always polite and friendly however we always find that the service is really slow and lacks any motivation. We often have to get up to pay or order extra cakes at the wait station located at the front. We come here weekly, and will always come back, yet we think that the service needs redirection, so the place can run more efficiently.

We recently visited for the third time, and each visit has been better than the last. The chefs never fail to amaze me with the dishes they create! The attention to detail and the thoughtfulness that goes into the presentation is amazing. The food tastes even better than it looks, it's perfectly balanced and all of the ingredients compliment each other so well. We are totally in love! I would highly recommend this place to all brunch enthusiasts, we are already planning our next visit.

This place was our favourite / Number 1 choice for breakfast in Altrincham. We must have been over 20 times. Yesterday will be our last. Having been seated quickly in a quiet and fairly empty restaurant we then waited over ten minutes without being served whilst two of the three staff ate their own food (!) and chatted with each other behind the counter. Two couples who came in after us were served first so we walked out without ordering. It used to be great in here but it needs sorting out now.

Blanch flower has always been our favourite - Always cruffin to share and then depends on the day we will have different breakfast. As neither of us had a full English and veggie breakfast for a while that’s what we ordered. Sourdough was sliced so thin and with the way sourdough is we had a half slice of bread at best. Beans tasted watered down, sausage on my breakfast massively overcooked and fritter on the veggie breakfast super dry. Could have raised all of these issues if someone had come to check on us while we were eating but no one bothered. When being cleared, we passed on the feedback and asked if the chefs are new - As we didn’t recognise anyone in the kitchen. The waitress didn’t seem to be bothered about any of our feedback and said she works at Sale so unaware if the chefs are different. Just really, really different experience from what we usually get. The place was half full while surrounding places were very busy. We remember having to queue to Blanch Flower… Just a feedback and perhaps something to look at. The blueberry lemon cheesecake Cruffin was delicious. 👍

Weekend special soaked in butter and deliciousness! Strawberry lemonade was a hit.

We visited Blanchflower over the bank holiday weekend as a birthday treat for my partner. It was our first time visiting as we’d never been able to get a table before. We sat outside which was lovely and enjoyed our brunch. I can’t fault the food, but we felt very rushed throughout which ruined it a bit for me. As soon as my partner finished his last mouthful the waitress whipped the plate away even though I hadn’t quite finished and we were being watched by the queue next to our table who were waiting to be seated - which felt quite uncomfortable. It’s great that they are busy but I personally don’t like to feel rushed to finish up and leave.

Visited today with my wife for the first time cant say enough. The food was Brilliant the coffee excellent & the Staff lovely. If you haven't been here before try it you won't be disappointed. Love it. Highly recommend👍

We had a lovely breakfast, they have their own take on a breakfast menu which is alway fun. The food was well-cooked and tasty and we were impressed by the generous portions of the smoked salmon sides, which was gorgeous as well 👌🏻

Excellent service, excellent food

Lovely eatery in the heart of altrincham. We arrived on a Saturday and it was Walk in only. Around 15 mins wait and shops close by so we popped into a shop. Bench style cafe, family and dog friendly. We’ve got to 100% praise the female staff who served us, our daughter has a mild but allergy and the server was extremely Careful & double checked everything for us. Although there was likelihood of x-contamination on the pre baked goods, we were okay! Food was delicious and very well Priced. I would recommend this place as a friend get together but not for larger parties.

I had lunch here with my daughter and the quality of the food was fantastic. I had the salmon sandwich - it was no ordinary sandwich! The bread was so tasty and the accompanying salad was beautiful. The value for money was brilliant - I cant wait to go back and try some of the other options as the menu all sounds divine. The staff were also very friendly which made for a very enjoyable visit.
