An amazing pub as pubs should be, great choice of drinks, extensive wine list and even good pink champagne available, what’s not to like? Couple that with a great atmosphere and fabulous service we loved it. Crispy roast potatoes and a choice of 3 roasts at such good value for money you need to pay a visit we were glad we did

I am a foreingers who just moved in to the area. and tried to find someone and i poped in to this pub for a drink . Drinks here a good values And bartender very helpful But I was disappointed with one of the waitres , I asked another customer if they know someone i am looking for then She walked over and said don't disturb my customers. What is this? I know it's not that good idea to do that But this was the only way I could do it. I said i have my drink and when finish then i will go but she still rude it's a shame,sometime you need to open mind ,I reccomend instead of be rude better to ask if you can do anything to help or be nice as Human being That sound better.

Well this pub certainly is Worthing best kept secret !! I asked my son Jack to find me the best roast in Worthing and boy he did !!! I’m a roast diva in hove so the bar was set high Michelle and the team were amazing and really friendly The roast was faultless…. I had beef so soft and tender , gravy top notch and all the trimmings !

Roast was lovely great portion sizes cooked to perfection with lashings of gravy that was delicious. We will definitely be returning 😊

Had an absolutely cracking Sunday Roast at The Egremont today. Brilliant portions and everything was cooked perfectly. Great drinks to boot and very friendly service.

Popped in for a pint heading back to air bnb and encountered the lady pub singer. She belted out hit after hit and the locals loved it. Enjoyed the vibe and can’t beat a bit of erasure. Great pint of Guinness and bar staff friendly.

Excellent Sunday roast and well kept beer, but then as so often happens.......nothing. Nobody asked us if we wanted desserts or coffee, so in the end I went to the bar to pay but pointed out that a nice bit of profit was lost by not following on the ordering. We waited 40 mins and saw no one. Shame, cos otherwise quite good.

First time here and came for a roast. I had a vegan beetroot and butternut squash parcel and my boyfriend had a roast beef. It came with red cabbage, roast potatoes, homemade yorkshires, carrots, peas, gravy, parsnips. Food was amazing. Service spot on and will definitely be back. Thank you.

Simply a great Sunday lunch. Excellent quality, great service in a nice atmosphere. One of the best Sunday lunches out we have had!

OK so this is primarily a pub and the beer is great and staff very friendly. This time we visited for a meal as previously the menu was varied and interesting with a few vegan choices. Unfortunately the menu has changed so a vegan burger 🍔 with optional chips was the only fayre on offer for us. This means as vegans we will never eat there again and chose other places. Weird as vegan dishes can easily be prepared and enjoy high margins. Hopefully their winter menu will improve.

Called in on the off chance five minutes before the kitchen was to close, ordered two Ploughman’s, they were amazing, absolutely huge! Really tasty, plenty of cheese, ham and lovely bread not to mention the salad, grapes and pickles, oh and the pork pies! Would thoroughly recommend but unless you are starving one between two would be plenty. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

Booked for food on a Saturday night with friends. Ordered all chip shared platters and had burgers each as well. Amazing food. We ate everything!!! My fish burger was to die for. Great atmosphere and live music . Will definitely go again. Great find😀

Had a roast beef dinner which was delicious apart from the vegetable being a little over cooked for our taste. Service was excellent and the were very staff pleasant and attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Would certainly visit again.

Went on the off chance hoping to get a roast as we hadn’t booked. The staff are so lovely they accommodated us with their usual loveliness and found us a table. The food (roast beef) was cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables were absolutely delicious. It’s always the gravy that make a great roast dinner for me and it didn’t disappoint I promise you.. best roast and best service in Worthing without a shadow!!!! Well done you guys

Not what we expected! Waited for the completed renovation and expected a delicious roast Sunday lunch. Couldn’t fault efficient, courteous and friendly staff. Pub ambience needs to be cosy with better lighting but appreciate it’s a difficult space to combine as pub and restaurant. Loved...

Mothers Day treat was a delight at the Egremont. The 3 employees we came into contact with when booking (late, and then changing the booking afterwards!) and when we were there could not have been more helpful, even though they'd been busy for several hours.

Excellent roast dinner and in my opinion the best in Worthing. Portion sizes were great and the food was unbelievable. All the staff were really friendly and is exactly how a pub should be not like the majority of pubs serving unfortunately.

Myself, partner and a few friends attended for dinner a while ago. The bar staff were really nice and the young girl that served us was very sweet, however the landlord was incredibly rude when we weren’t happy with our meals. Complaining about the quality of your meal is always difficult and extremely awkward but we were told we must be wrong and were met with a very pissy and unapologetic response which really dampened what used to be a fondness for The Egremont. What a shame.

bar staff are very lovely, drinks are fairly priced however the landlord Greg is incredibly rude and doesn’t appear to want people in the pub, very hostile to speak to and is inherently unfriendly to anyone that’s not ‘regulars’ would steer clear of this place if you don’t want to be treated like an outsider, you will spend ages getting served and be treated like dirt

Visited about 4 weeks ago. Pub inside closed but serving from table at front door with benches to sit outside, what they don't tell u is that the toilets are closed with people drinking for hours, so some resorted to using the telephone box opposite, disgusting this must have been obvious to the owner.I assumed the wine at £12 bottle (normally around £20) was reasonable for a take away but it was rubbish.We left and went to pub across the road, with clean toilets and chilled wine. I felt the owner is taking us for mugs. Have been a regular since it opened left, but as it get busy at weekends it seems to me the owner thinks we all stupid, this often reflected in his approach.Show lessDate of visit: 2020

Three generations of our family visited this pub/restaurant for a birthday lunch. We had 2 vegetarians and 2 meat eaters in our party. We all had a good variety of choices. Everything was really well cooked, tasted great and was beautiful presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice desserts as well! Classic home cooking but with modern presentation . Really recommend

A good selection of drinks (beers, ales and over 50 gins!) and a compact menu (but with more than enough choice. The starter we shared and our main courses were very nice indeed, all rounded off with our first try of gin liqueurs (fantastic)!

We were in Worthing for the day and needed food ! We tried 3 pubs all to be told No dogs. Almost giving up hope we asked a dog walker in the highstreet and asked "Do you know of any dog friendly pubs?". He straight away told us about this place. And he wasnt wrong. The pub itself is really striking with lots to look at. The staff friendly. The food good. Fish and chips and a veggie burger and reasonably priced.But most importantly its dog friendly. There were 5 in when we were in. And all well behaved. Come on Worthing pubs sort yourselves out.

We’ve been to the Egremont a few times now and it’s always been brilliant. I love the pub, nice decor and very comfortable. The food has always been yummy. Great quality roasts with good veg and all the nice trimmings! But food and pub aside the staff are fab! They work hard, know their stuff and are really friendly and attentive without being over the top. No doubt we’ll be back!

Sunday roast not as good as it used to be , smaller meat portions , roast potatoes appear tobe reheated in the deep fryer to give them a crisp appearance and poor quality Yorkshire’s .Good beer , service and atmosphere though .But of a shame really as this was one of our favourite places for Sunday lunch

First impression was a busy, clean, atmospheric pub. Looking forward to a good sunday roast, very impressed with the menu selection, although thought the price a little high.The plate of food that was served was obviously warmed up as the waiter was holding a cloth to protect his hands however the food was only luke warm, warmed up mushy vegetables, chicken tough from the microwave, far too crunchy Yorkshire pudding, tasteless and sloppy food, it was almost inedible. We were so hungry, we ate it and said nothing which I know is not the right thing to do, but we decided not to complain and just not eat in the Egremont again. One of us had a vegan falafel and tabouleh salad, it was pathetic, hardly anything in it, warmed up and not at all fresh.A very disappointing experience.

Dropped in after a meal in town and this place was buzzing with a great crowd of people. Reminded me of how a pub should be without the smoke. The staff were helpful and friendly and all of the customers seemed to be having a great time.

Disappointed with our visit. Normally love the egremont but because it was before Christmas it was rushed and the food was unfortunately under par. We were over charged but didn’t notice until we got home. Will try again and hope the quality is back to its best.

Went for Sunday dinner today booked table for 4.30 meal was very nice service good and helpful! I had roast beef which was just right nice selection of veg and roast potatoes. Apple pie and custard for pudding very nice also.

It was our first time to The Egremont for a family meet up with my sisters and loved it the food is reasonably priced and the menu had many gluten free options.

Visited on a rainy Monday evening as there’s not a lot open in Worthing in a Monday. We were pleasantly surprised at the barman’s knowledge of their extensive gin menu, allowing me to smell the fins before deciding which one I’d like. The food menu wasn’t extensive but a good enough choice.

A table was booked for 10 people on Monday 7th October for Sunday 13th October. I was here seeing some family who had come over from Gibraltar who I hadn't seen in years and to spend some time with the family.The table was booked for 14:00. 8/10 of the group arrived at 13:30 and we grabbed a drink at the bar which was all fine. One of the members of the group went to check at the bar at just before 13:55 to see if our table was ready, they said it was. At 14:00 when the other 2 members of the group arrived, we went to go to our table to find that the employees gave away our table that we had already booked to a table of 11 people.. apparently because there was more of them. Completely unacceptable to give away the table that we had booked. As a result of them only having one table that could fit more than 6 people, our group had to sit on 2 seperate tables and were therefore unable to spend any time together. What an absolute waste of time. It's not even as if the tables were close enough to have a conversation with each other. The manager just assumed this was ok and said 'hope that's ok', to which we said we weren't happy with but what could we do, considering we booked this almost a week in advance. We would have gone elsewhere if it were possible but considering the number of the group, it wouldn't be an easy task. At the end of the meal, my father spoke to the manager again upon payment and explained his grievances but the manager just apologised. Would have at least liked some compensation for the trouble and disappointment that we experienced.

We can’t stop visiting The Egremont now. They’ve got it so right. Fantastic menu that suits and includes everyone. Not just the ‘token’ unimaginative vegetarian risotto - they have a full vegan menu that is both creative and delicious.... Gluten-free if required... including an amazing choice of desserts too! The roasts are soooo good too. The staff & service absolutely make it, the atmosphere warm, friendly and inclusive and being a non-drinker myself it is a pleasure to spend time in a pub and feel a part of it again. Try their seedlip & tonic! Can’t wait to bring my family and friends in on over the next couple of weeks!

Had a lovely evening - Dinner for 7 (4 adults and 3 children) . Very welcoming and super friendly service all evening. Great food - very highly recommended. Live music playing on a Saturday (not too intrusive) gave a great atmosphere.

We were in town and decided to see if we could get a table....it was a Sat lunchtime. It was fairly quiet, so we choose a table and we’re asked if we were eating, it’s also a pub, so not sure why we were asked. Anyway my wife had the Gluten Free fish and chips which she enjoyed, it was very good. I went for the pie and mash, last time I visited it was sold out, I ordered the huge one and when it came it was quite big!! Pastry was very good, filling was disappointing, it was minced beef and onion, which for me isn’t a filling worthy of a good pie crust. The mash and liquor was spot on, just so disappointed with the pie filling, not sure why you would make such a good pie with a cheap filling.

A nice venue with most of the staff friendly. Sadly Worthing now considers itself on a par with Brighton and the beer prices are hiked up accordingly. £4.50p for a pint more or less across the range is way over the top. Music nights are good and the food is by and large of good quality. How long before this pub goes the way others before have gone.

Stopped here for dinner before taking hubby to the cinema...the staff are super friendly can’t fault them!!

Had heard a lot about how good the pub food was, so when my friend asked me for a meal for birthday, I suggested here, so first time for both, and we both had amazing food and service, we opted for the Cauliflower popcorn with a chilli dip, which was lovely, the we had the Vegan Fish & Chips ( comes from part of the banana plant , it was delicious, washed down with a nice wine, we couldn’t manage pudding, but next time, we will, looking forward to returning soon.

Food was ok when I ate there, There was one interesting or slightly odd thing, an old guy, not a happy one, who has a strange fascination for taking videos on his I-phone!!

Wow! We visited the Egremont for the first time last night. We couldnt believe what a friendly welcome our whole family got. Thats 2 adults, a dog and a 6.5 year old.

The Egremont is, from the looks of the building quite an old pub. Inside the walls are adorned with a variety of old signs and interesting paintings. The lunch menu was extensive with a good variety of dishes.

Went for lunch and when we arrived at 12.40 the pub only had one other couple. They were tucking into Pea rissoto. My steak was very good, but Egremont lost a star as by better half's fish and chips was very average. Service was good and the place filled up later.

The duck from the French menu was overpowered with garlic and salt which had to be returned. We were offered an alternative and chose gammon - unbelievably salty and sadly inedible. The starter of muscles and puds were delightful and met with our expectations. So sorry to give this review as we know that clearly the pub is very successful. We just hope that the chef had a bad night.

This was our second visit for food, the menu has change but still looks appetising, I want pie and mash, but they were sold our.....must have been good. I went for the pork knuckle with mash, delicious, full of flavour. My wife had Gluten Free fish and chips, our two friends liver and bacon. All the meals look hearty and tasted delicious, I’m much more impressed than my first visit, definitely on my list of places to return to....soon

We came here for an anniversary lunch as it’s always a pleasure. Drinks beautifully served, with an excellent selection, the staff were professional, observant and welcoming. We wanted something fresh to share for lunch and the menu catered for this as well as more substantial dishes. Tiger prawns were lovely but the Penang mussels were incredible. Meaty, flavoursome and appetising. We have never had a disappointing visit here which is why we keep returning on our rare occasions out.

We were attracted by the vegan menu and like to encourage restaurants that offer such menus. The staff and service was good but unfortunately the vegan burger we had was disappointing (it looked good but seemed to be just a thick chickpea flour pancake which was very heavy - there are dozens of good vegan burger recipes available on the internet and in books).

The staff were working really hard but unfortunately there weren't enough of them. Service was poor and the food pretty average (I'm being polite - my veggie burger was like eating a face cloth). Our first visit and we won't be going back.

Opposite end of the town to where all the usual food/drink outlets are situated but this is a friendly, unpretentious pub/ eatery that serves delicious real ale beers, and equally delicious pub food. 6.5% beer, liver and bacon with creamy mash.... what more is there. Call me old fashioned but I don’t care... worth a visit.

Had a lovely family meal here today - it's fantastic this caters for us all being meat eaters, pescatarians & vegans! We all really enjoyed the food & the service was excellent by our waitress Kay. All other staff we encountered were very pleasant too.

Our local pub with an excellent cuisine for a pub at reasonable prices. We are regulars for an excellent lunch and for the occasional evening meal with friends

Visited on a Friday as two couples and was delighted to find out it was the pubs normal fish friday. I had the whitebait for starters and our friends had pate. We all had Cod and chips for mains. Great service, piping hot and good portions. Washed down by some great real ale. Extremely pleased with every aspect of our lunchtime visit. Well done the Egremont.

Been here a couple of times, once for Sunday roast, and once in a weekday evening. On both occasions the quality of the food and the service have been very good. The ambiance is conducive to a relaxed and pleasant time. Other pubs could learn from this establishment how to do it.

You can't beat this venue. The drinks and food are good quality. The interior is clean and attractive and the staff work hard. Recommended

On a recent visit to the Egremont I had a terrible experience. My meal arrived promptly but unfortunately accompanied by a large fly on the side of the plate. Assuming this wasn’t an attempt by the Egremont to lead the way in nouveau cuisine in Worthing I drew the attention of a staff member to complain. Instead of trying to correct the situation he just said he was on his way to the little boys room and that I should leave the fly if I didn’t want it! Customer service is obviously not one of his strengths!

The Egremont is a great place , specially when they have live bands and some of the staff are really friendly. IM writing today to complain about one of the managers there ( a woman that was off duty drunk at her own place of work on may 18th at night time) that treated my friend and her daughter horribly. They were in the same cabin at the toilet and what they faced was a woman screaming at them accusing mum and daughter of taking drugs in the toilet. What a horrible and rude thing to do to the costumers without having any evidence and not even bothering speaking to them politely. I went to talk to her and she was screaming loudly for everyone to hear that she was the manager there. Her boyfriend or whatever he is was ready to pick up a fight. The owner was around and didnt do anything about it. No-one came to our table and apologised them for the lack of professionalism of that lady that proved that with that behaviour, poor manners and no respect for the people that are there to have a good time shouldnt be able to work in a place like that or any place where she has to deal with people.

booked here for six of us and had a great evening, everyone enjoyed their food and the Pork Knuckle deserves a special mention as I did wonder whether it might be fatty and it's a cheap cut etc, no worries, what a lovely tasty bit of meat, and when I say bit it was huge, so big that I could not eat it and the kind waitress offered to wrap it up to take home, so the dog had a lovely Saturday night and Sunday lunch treat !! And on that note, great service with constant attention and nothing was a problem. With live music in the background and the whole pub seemingly enjoying themselves it was a great atmosphere for our night out, The bill came to £210 for six including three bottles of wine and a round of drinks so surprising good value, the whole night restored my faith in pub grub, well dome The Egremont.

Myself and my fiance had our engagement party at the Egremont on on Saturday 27th April and it was just perfect! The food was fantastic and all of our guests commented on how delicious it and could get enough. The staff were all so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would like to especially comment on their manager Lou, she was brilliant and ensured that we had the best time celebrating! I will defiantly be returning because i think i only managed through a very small % of all of their amazing gins they have to offer! thank you again! Love Emma and Billy xx

Came here after reading about the 'renovation' to try out the new food menu. Photos online look like a different place! The inside of the pub is a bit grungy and smelt like an old bar! Gin menu good - bit up there with the pricing but they do carry a large stock. Beer choice ok. Our party ordered different food items - mmm.....not the greatest! Ribs were fatty and not very tasty, liver and bacon tasted as if it had been plated at lunchtime and kept in the oven until dinner (still feels like a lead weight in my stomach over 12 hours later), no tartar sauce served with the fish and chips although the menu states it - apparently it doesn't go on the plate unless you ask for it due to waste (maybe don't put it on the menu then), stale crackers with the cheese (although it was nicely presented). Worst of all was our waitress - rude, abrupt and generally seemed annoyed to be there - spent most of the time enjoying her smoke breaks. Didn't dare order a coffee after dinner - looked liked it might be an inconvenience. Really disappointing - thank goodness we had great company with us so the evening was not a total disaster! With so many good new places springing up over the town I would definitely give this one a miss.

Another lovely meal at the Egremont. The bbq ribs were stunning. The pub restaurant area was packed and everyone around were enjoying themselves, so a great atmosphere. The Plateau and Double Dolphin ales were beautiful. I have eaten at the pub a few times now and its been very consistant. Thanks for a lovely evening

Visited The Egremont with a group of friends for a meal and to enjoy the music that was provided by a live band. The meal was fabulous with the staff extremely attentive even at the busiest times. We had a great time and will be returning again soon.

We checked the reviews before visiting, and always expect the unexpected as we’ve been let down by trip before. So glad we came here instead of Thyme in the premier inn we planned to go to. We arrived about 7pm on a Friday, having no table booked. The friendly guy there kindly fitted us in. There was a live band setting up on the other side, and the bar was generally quite busy. Lovely warming feeling in the place with some quirky furniture and fittings. The service was friendly and efficient. Food choice was excellent and we ordered the ribs and the cod and chips. Generous portions and delicious. Toilets clean, although only two, which surprises me with a large busy pub.
