The Edinburgh Coffee Lounge in Edinburgh, City of

Came today with a group of 8 people. Two of us ordered cafe au lait as you have it on your menu from QR codes you have on the tables. A blonde team member brought us just two americanos with milk on side. When I tried to explain that this is wrong , she was just staring like I am talking non sense. I am coming almost every Sunday getting the exact same order and never had any issues. Today and last Sunday was the same two team members that they have no idea what they are making. There was also a confusion from their side as cafe au lait is not on the menu on the screen but only through the QR code. Keep in mind that ordering cafe au lait with honey is 1.40£ extra than the americano, with on the side milk and free honey. When the store was more quite , I tried again to speak to the blonde girl about it and she seemed completely arrogant, never apologised since it is your store’s issue and never even offered a refund for the price difference. In addition the little pot that brought the honey with was dirty with dry milk. I felt really upset from the whole situation as not only they are not properly trained to make coffees and know the differences but they don’t have any idea what customer service is.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere with super friendly staff and scrummy treats.

I needed the loo before a long bus journey so popped in quickly for a takeaway coffee with my dog. I felt welcomed and was greeted by the two lovely ladies working. The facilities were clean and the coffee was one of the best I have had in a while. Also my dog was chuffed to get pats from staff and customers alike. I'll definitely stop by again.

Lovely little coffee place to grab a coffee before heading into the city centre. Great variety of coffees and a lovely warm welcome.

Dreadful service today.Staff totally disorganised.Waited 30mins for the drinks and 40mins + for food.No apology for the wait even after chasing our order twice.Made a point of speaking to the staff about our experience before leaving.The staff member was very confrontational and seemed to have no concept of customer service so a complete waste of time.

Cozy coffee, with good quality, but a bit expensive. - the quality of coffee and tea is great. Cappuccino is delicious - prices are a little high, but not crazy expensive - toilets available - WiFi available

The place looks nice, but the staff seemed not to care. We entered the place, and both girls looked at us without saying a word and continued talking to each other. The table was still messy, one walk buy but started to clean the glass on the counter instead. We sat for 10 min at the dirty table and left. Again, not a word was said. There was only one other customer there, and we made eye contact multiple times.

Food and drinks were amazing! But the customer service was outstanding, very welcoming and created such a good experience! Will 100% be back

So desappointed. I ordered porridge. It was not creamy at all. More like jelly. That was the main problem. Besides, no scone ..put your menu on line maybe ? Fruits were perfectly fresh on porridge though and staff very nice. Comfy place to stay.

I'd been waiting for almost an hour for my most basic order, americano + croissant, and I never got it. After about 40 minutes I came and aske about my order, the girl said she never received it and never apologised. I just left in an hour. The prices are on a higher side, and the service is atrocious. Never again.

Absolutely charming café in Edinburgh! We found this place by accident because we happened to be staying a couple of blocks away. We ended up going there every day for coffee and/or breakfast during our short visit. The owners are absolutely lovely, the ambience is cozy and charming, and everyone who worked there was so absolutely welcoming!! The coffee drinks was perfect and our breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely be back!!

I went to the lounge countless times while living in Edinburgh and it is definitely my favorite cafe in the city. The food and coffee are consistently very good and it's a great atmosphere. The staff are very nice and helpful. If you are looking for a cafe to go to definitely go here!!

I’ve been wanting to try the coffee lounge for ages. Finally decided to pop in and it was the best decision I ever made. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food was unbelievable, I had avocado toast and it was safe to say it was the best avocado toast I’d ever had. I also had a cappuccino which was utterly delightful!!

Why have the menu say brunch all day if it stops before 3:30

We went today to meet my son for brunch as he has just moved to Edinburgh. He has been a few times and staff were so friendly, so lovely. Loved the food definitely 5 🌟. Plenty to choose from especially as I have just started being vegan. All freshly prepared. Will definitely be back 💯. There are so many other places (mainstream) that you can go but it's so much better to support local communities and The Edinburgh Coffee Lounge is an amazing place to meet with friends or just to go and chill by yourself ❤️

Super friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable cafe with fantastic food for the money. You wouldn't get better. Gave us directions and suggested things to do in area. Let us try some Haggis for free! Would definitely recommend and come again.

I really enjoyed the coffe and the cake, nice atmosphere and nice people. The only thing is when the door opened up for customers to go out and in, was cold. Not very pleasant but apart from that I'm happy with my experience. A bit pricey for it's Location (Scotland) but I guess it's because of the popularity of Edinburgh, rents probably are high so in a way I understand. Thanks

The coffee shop is really cozy and nice. The coffee is tasteful and not stronge. The red velvet cake was delicious and fresh. A little expensive but well deserved.

Food was average and expensive despite leaving out of the dish several parts (beans, mushrooms, tomato, etc) so that you can have them as extras. Service was poor (two kids who clearly don't enjoy and don't want to work there). The place didn't seem too clean either (the table we sat on was a bit sticky). And the music didn't match the mood at all.

Cute shop. I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich and chai.

Had a lovely chai latte and bacon waffle with maple syrup to start my morning. Generous portions and great fuel for a day of sightseeing around the city centre!

Very cosy little coffee shop - had a good cortado coffee and a slice of apple pie. Rest of the group had a flat white and a mocca which the liked. The service was friendly. Will definitely return if I’m in the neighbourhood.

Quaint little café. Very cozy and sociable inside. Good range of drinks to choose from including a small Christmas drink selection. Mocha was a good balance between chocolate and coffee flavours. The apple pie was very good and a decent size. It’s very easy to access and perfect for studying.

Very kind people. The guy who gets the order seemed extremely happy and was super pleasant to talk with. Got a Nutella mocha and a rose latte. Could not really tell the taste of the coffee so will have to come again and try a latte or an espresso.

This is a really cool space with a special decor and atmosphere. Perfect for people watching, especially if you're sitting next to the big French windows. On the other hand, the music was too loud to my taste and the table surfaces were quite sticky.

Absolutely outstanding service from the gentleman serving today. He brought us a free coffee as we were celebrating my sisters upcoming wedding. Very friendly staff and although I live out in East Lothian I will definitely come back due to the lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The girls behind the counter were amazing too, best accidental find ever! ❤️❤️

Great cafe for brunch/all day breakfast. Eggs benny was very tasty and service was warm and friendly. Also a good location before walking to Arthur’s seat.

The food was bad, proper school canteen level. I ordered avocado on toast with a poached egg, the bread was basic supermarket sliced bread, the avocado was with no spices, salt or any flavouring, and the egg was hard boiled, they didn’t even give me the whole egg, it seemed to only be half. The vibe is weird. It looks nice from the outside but the room itself is dark and kind of dingy inside. They were playing club music which did not fit the environment. The lady who initially served me was lovely but the rest of the service was very poor.

Really long wait for just 2 waffles, 45 min. Didn’t get it. They didn’t want to give us a refund after because it took to long. Horrible experience. They say we were rude to the staff? After they lied about the waiting time. Only thing we did to the staff was asking for a refund. Also lying about “removed” from the store is kind of weird, we weren’t removed we chose to leave after u also lied about the “30” minute waiting time.

I want to preface this by saying I never normally leave reviews, good or bad. This topic has been on my mind for three days now and as I find myself on a 9 hour coach home from Edinburgh, I can’t hold it in any longer. I came to the town for Fringe, and it was a heavy few days of drinking. I wake up one morning, hungover, fighting for my life, desperate for a coffee to fix me so I can continue serving face. I leave the house like a savage looking for prey. Almost instantly, right in front of me is The Coffee Lounge, a super cute cafe just 30 seconds from where I’m staying - perfect! I walk in and am met with a friendly barista, smiles all round and he looked happy to be there. At the same time, it didn’t look like he knew where ‘there’ was; almost as though he had found himself at the till after being led there unwillingly. As I ordered my £4.20 vanilla latte with semi-skimmed milk, I saw the pain slowly grow in his eyes as the mental list of tasks increased, still appearing as though he’d never been here prior to this very moment. Alas, he poured a shot of coffee perfectly ready and waiting for the steamed mil- oh WAIT! “There’s a brunch order I haven’t finished yet, let me just do this first.” No problem! He’ll run another double shot through. I’d say at the time he arrives back from running the brunch order, we’re around 4 minutes into the interaction. Slowly, my inner demons are getting louder as my need for a coffee is growing at a great pace. I feel a sense of relief as he returns, while also surprised he remembered where the counter was. The milk steaming has begun. As did the decline of my mental stability. Wincing, I can hear enough air to cause a minor wind disaster being blown through my milk. But it’s okay - he’s a barista (?), he will save it with a quick tap of that milk jug! As he pours the milk I notice that his selection of coffee shot was in fact the bitter, dead, crema-less shot he poured what feels like 3 hours ago now - sat, mourning the beautiful milky drink it could have once been, longing for someone to end the suffering. At this point, I’m desperate, I’ll take it. He hands me the cup and instinctual confusion appears in my brain - ‘this cup feels quite light’. I ignore it. The technology we have nowadays is amazing. I wait for my friend to receive their drink and we leave. My mouth watering, exhilarated that I finally have this drink, I take a sip and my brain pauses. The world turns cold. It cannot be… were my famous last words. I lift the lid to reveal a ‘latte’ which has the foam equivalent of 3 bubble baths and 12 cappuccinos. I would be generous to say that my cup was 45% coffee, and 55% foam. I’m far too British to turn around and complain, so I build a bridge and get over it. The foam slowly dies down to reveal the pipette of coffee I have to enjoy, which tasted great. Lovely vanilla syrup.

This is an absolutely wow place. The menu has great coffee, hot food all day and incredible cakes and pastries. The drinks are so fresh. Strawberry, cucumber and basil is so refreshing, or dragonfruit and mango - 🙂. The cakes are an amazing selection of freshly made. The coffee is really good, and they have a great selection of food like Eggs Benny, and Vegan breakfast to die for, complete with tatty scones, avocado and toast. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh. Thanks loads for a beautiful place.

Not cheap - but there is a cosy interior and a place to sit outside which is one of the few places to have a coffee, a ciggie and do a spot of people watching.

Great atmosphere will lovely friendly staff. Coffee is one of the best I’ve tasted. My fav is the strawberry scone plenty of filling and very tasty. Hope there will still be space for me when the festival starts.

The coffee and avo on toast weren't great. The staff didn't ask how it was when they cleared the table so I wasn't able to tell them I was disappointed.

My favourite cafe in Edinburgh- and I've tried them all! The food is delicious, the hot drinks menu is so varied and the drinks are huge 😁 the staff are super lovely, and at Christmas the place looks like a hallmark Christmas movie. The playlist bangs, it's a great place to study or chill with friends, or just watch the world go by. It's also amazing value for money ❤

Walking around Edinburgh we came across anice and cozy coffee place. The friendliest owners /staff ever that were so helpful. Sitting by the window we enjoyed flavorful coffee with great croissants.Everything was beautifully presented. Loved the place.Will 100% come back. Definitly recommended to everyone.
