The Eaton Oak in Huntingdonshire

It’s always great here. We recommended it to friends for our annual Christmas meal. A sit down meal with 3 toddlers can be a little difficult at times but the pub were fantastic and so accommodating to us. We all had the Christmas menu and the food was excellent. Friendly staff, just the right amount of attentive. Highly recommend. The parking situation is absolutely fine despite the other reviews. Just check your registration on entry. Nice and simple and plenty of signs. Don’t let those reviews put you off trying this great pub.

Visited here as a central location with ex work colleagues to meet up for a Xmas reunion lunch. I booked online & had to pay £10/head deposit which was very easy to do. On day we enjoyed drinks, mains, desserts & coffees, everyone enjoyed their foods which was delivered with prompt & friendly service throughout from the team. However next day it occurred to me that my £60 deposit wasn’t deducted from the bill so I telephoned to explain the issue & spoke to Emily who couldn’t have been more helpful. She checked & could see in the system that the deposit remained paid & promised to sort it out promptly & call me back… she did exactly that, was very apologetic - no problem my side as the issue was sorted out quickly & in a really friendly way (just like to friendly service on the day). So all in all very impressive booking, food, service & day after service too ! Really nicely ambience too, somewhere if back in the area we definitely will revisit.

We ate at this restaurant and received in the post a car parking fine. Apparently you only get ONE HOUR after checking your registration into the pc - ridiculous - the food may be good but the parking is abysmal.

We came for a weekend with visit to a show. Everything looked very good on first impression but closer inspection revealed a lot of niggling little problems. The lighting in the suite was very poor..The main light was dim, the bedside lights did not work and you were in shadow at the sink trying to shave in the dark! It was a cool autumn weekend The radiator in the suite only came on at eight thirty in the evening. We had to sit in our coats in the afternoon. Breakfast and dinner were all sub par. We will try another venue next time we visit st Neots.

Although the stay itself was ok, I am getting totally frustrated with the fact that we have to pay an extortionate charge for the dog if we want to say anywhere! The justification about deep cleaning rooms afterwards is just rubbish - especially bearing in mind that we have a very small dog. Would they charge for a baby to stay? … No way, there would be uproar! Then, even after paying this charge, we found that we still had to sit and eat, like lepers, in ‘special areas’, and excluded from the restaurant. Then the room we were allocated was right at the end of the corridor, which in the case of The Eaton Oak is the noisiest in the hotel due to the traffic. The young lady who served breakfast was very professional - listening to my feedback and understanding… as opposed to the person responding to my feedback on Booking.com who was totally dismissive about the whole issue. It’s about time this extortionate practice was banned!

What a lovely little place, rooms very modern and clean and tidy. Staff really friendly, had a lovely stay. Thank you guys. Don’t use panther taxis massive let down.!!

We stayed for two nights, Friday and Saturday, to go to a wedding at a venue nearby. The young man checking us in was friendly and welcoming and he gave us the number of a local taxi firm to book for the travel to and from the venue. The room was spacious and pleasantly decorated, and equipped with everything you might need. This included a kettle and tea and coffee bags with fresh milk. There was also an iron and ironing board, plus a hairdryer and a fan. Toiletries in the bathroom were nice quality. The only issue was that the room was cold (the weather was pretty cold, it being October in the UK) and, the heating didn’t ever seem to reach our room (room no1). Breakfast was excellent and on both mornings the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. All food was good quality and prepared freshly and there was a good selection to choose from. We had an evening meal at the pub on Friday and that too was very good. There was also a great choice of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails.

Greeted by Maddie who was very pleasant and polite in finding us a table. Very good service and friendly atmosphere from both Maddie and Jacob. The food was incredible.

We've eaten and stayed here a number of times, and always been impressed, but we won't be going back again. The stay was fine - although it was a blanket "no" to checking in early, which we've always been able to do before. It was suggested we had a drink whilst we waited - no wonder, we were charged £12 for one and a half pints of beer! Restaurant wise - the menu has been significantly reduced (which seems to be the parent company's fault, rather than the pub's) and there was only one vegetarian/vegan option on the menu, and none on the specials. Massaman curry had no appeal, so we cancelled our booking and went into town. The cost of the room has gone up quite a bit over the last year, but standards have gone down. The breakfast coffee used to be really nice, but this time it was unpalatable and the avocado smash is now on normal bread and not sourdough. I don't mind paying more for a good experience, but I felt I was paying more for less.

We gathered to celebrate my brothers 60th birthday. Waitrose was friendly and helpful, food was very good. However it took over 40 minutes to arrive after ordering, which is excessively long. Also I was told there no bitter beers available and was offered an amber ale, which was good but not the beer I actually wanted, disappointing. Overall a good experience hut let down jn a couple of important areas.

Went for Sunday dinner all was good but we sent one meal back as the roast potato's were black and falling apart,to honest they'd been sitting in the oven too long. We were expecting nice fresh well roasted spud to comeback..well they came back exactly as we had sent them but this time soaked in gravy! Good try but itdidnt fool anyone we told the waitress to tell the chef that these were the worst potato's ever,no reply. Why do pubs complain that they are struggling when they can't be bothered to keep the ones that do turn up,we paid £65 for dinner and drinks but that's fine we expected it but at least make some effort! Personally I'll find somewhere else.

A nice evening ruined by £100 car park fine arriving two weeks later. Hostile staff response when phoned up to complain. Not told at pub by staff about the car park rule change from previous visit. Ridiculous. Never going again.

Well that was pretty bad, had to send two meals back as they were over cooked, one meal when it was shown to the manager, she stated that it was probably just the batter and the meat might be ok inside. It came back perfect the other meal was burnt to a crisp. No apologies just attitude from staff, two meals terrible but it is the service that stands out as terrible, if the manger is rude and couldn’t care the staff pick up on this and act the same way. Obviously the rot goes all the way up to the board terrible. Service service service, avoid and go somewhere they want customers for more than a pint.

Went out for our Wedding Anniversary and had an average time, however this has been spoilt to receive a £100 fine in the post for using their car park. This was a total shock and at no time during our visit was it mentioned that we were unable to use the car park. Not sure what the fine is for, it says that i parked longer than the maximum time. There was two us us having a main meal and pudding. Not sure what the time limit is! Was totally unaware of any rules and we were never asked if we had parked in the car park. Will never use the pub again or recommend either..... :(

My Partner and I went out on date night tonight. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Our waiter Lilly, was marvellous and nothing was too much trouble. The food was perfectly cooked and we in no way felt rushed through our meal.

We came for Mother’s Day dinner and as always staff were amazing Maddie served us for our time spent at restaurant she is amazing so friendly we love coming to the Eaton oak as all the staff are so amazing, thank you for making our Mother’s Day so special, it’s our number one place to eat and drink lovely atmosphere, and the team our great Thanks guys ❤️

Our waitress Becky was lovely sat us down at our table and offered us drinks straight away, she has a smile on her face and was very friendly. So after bringing our drinks we ordered our food once the food arrived becky asked if we wanted any more drinks. Soon after came over to check everything was OK, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. A wonderful atmosphere will definitely be coming back,Thank you becky for a lovely experience.

Visited for Mother's Day brunch. Originally booked table via the website for 11am but was contacted a week before to say this was a mistake and could we arrive at 10.30 as that was the cut off point for brunch bookings. Ordered food quite quickly after arriving (quite a limited brunch menu in my opinion, so didn't take long to choose) but the food took an hour to arrive so we could have stuck to the 11am booking time! Appreciate that it was busy due to being Mother's Day, but at no point did anyone come and apologise fie the delay nor offer us more drinks. When the food did arrive, it was ok. Nothing outstanding, sausages were low standard and the bacon floppy. Some of our party had 2 hash browns, some only 1 despite all ordering the full breakfast. We were also served half a 'toasted' (read flashed under the grill for 20 seconds) bread roll instead of toast which was bizarre. Won't be rushing back as wasn't cheap @ over £100 for breakfast for 6. And not even a special treat for the mum in our party!

We came here for the mother's day meal. We got the 3 course meal. Thr food was generous, delicious and well cooked. The atmosphere was lovely, very chilled and family friendly. Our waitress was Maddie. She was very friendly and incredibly helpful (thanks for the few raspberries for our son, we really appreciate it). All in all a great meal, would advise.

Stayed last night for the second time. The Eaton Oak is fantastic - great value, spotlessly clean comfortable rooms, friendly team and good food. If I could give it six stars, I would!

Table booked for 12.15 and didn't get our food until 1.30 with no apology. Terrible service and a couldn't care less attitude. They are also no longer doing sandwiches and have no lunch time menu only main meals even though their website shows that the menu is available. The portion size of the meals were much smaller than a month ago and same price. Would not recommend and will not be going back.

My local and a lovely place to meet up with visiting family. We were a party of 7 and our waitress was lovely as we dithered about ordering! Everyone enjoyed their food. My only small criticism was I'd like more vegetarian/vegan options; it was Thai green curry or salad. The curry was delicious, but the veggies in the party all had the same!

Really disappointing visit. Not very busy but ordering took ages. Food was not great, when my burger arrived I genuinely thought it was as the kids burger that had been ordered for the table!! Small burger, a few fries, a small blob of coleslaw and a few leaves of salad! My wife had the pork bonbon, very dry, black pudding rock hard and potato not as expected. Got to dessert still hungry only to be told 3 of the 6 on the menu were unavailable, reason apparently was they were really busy at the weekend, this was Tuesday. Overall not a great visit and will not be looking to go back any time soon. It has definitely gone downhill!!!

Another lovely visit to The Eaton Oak. Lovely setting, clean and well cared for facilities. What makes The Eaton Oak exceptional are the staff. Every staff member is attentive, friendly and hard working. A super team! Jacob and Maddie in particular showed excellent product knowledge and definitely go the extra mile to ensure it’s an experience that keeps you coming back for more. Food as always delicious, I haven’t eaten a bad meal there yet, I have to recommend the pork belly starter- it’s unbelievably good! See you again soon.

A lovely setting, with very comfortable seating and spotless facilities. I chose the Vegan Wellington which was a far more impressive vegetarian offering than I am accustomed to. The staff, however, elevated a nice experience to a wonderful one. Our servers Jacob and Maddie were attentive without being intrusive, polite and courteous but also very funny . I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, and this is proof that your front of house staff are as important as the food! Well done, both are a credit to the business.
