The Eating Gorilla in Gwynedd

This is my second visit to here and it is a very good service friendly staff good atmosphere good food well prepared a d good value for money I would highly recommend it all I can see why it's cash only the amount of money they get charged for the use of the card is so unreal so make sure you have cash it's well worth the effort

Nice Vegan food but wouldn’t have gone in if I’d realised before that it was cash only. I’m always suspicious of cash only places. It’s easy to hide income from the tax man with cash. They have a little story on the counter explaining why they don’t take card payments but the info is out of date and the maths is dubious. They seem to imply that £50 would become £5 after a few transactions with the bank taking the £45, it also states that transaction fees are 3%. Barclaycard the main provider of card machines but not the cheapest take 1.6% this would take 144 transactions to reduce £50 to £5. It seems good value for the convenience of not having to worry about cash, where to put it, have you got enough on you, where’s the nearest place to get more etc etc.. Everything in life that makes life easier has a cost somewhere. I’m no fan of banks and some of their dodgy practices, lending to people that can’t afford it etc but not having to deal with cash makes life so much easier.

Came upon this as a very last minute choice however very pleasantly surprised Cash only and good choice of menu Easy service Find your table choose your food and order The drinks and food arrived swiftly and was plentiful and very tasty!! Well done

Just off the main road through village. Worth the stop for my breakfast, ordered the avocado on toast served with rocket, tomatoes and chilli flakes and an oat milk chai latte, utterly delicious. Will definitely be stopping by again.

Purchased a gift voucher for my sister’s Birthday whilst they were visiting Snowdonia on holiday and they were thoroughly impressed with the food and service. They reported back how delicious everything was and even had a little extra to spare to bring some cakes home. The cafe itself was very busy but the staff made sure they got a table and felt most welcome, so thank you 😊 I will definitely be making a visit when in the area, as will they. 😋

It was my favourite cafe for eating out. As a strict vegan, I knew there would be no cross-contamination of food in the kitchen and the variety of meals was exceptionally good. Unfortunately, the owners have sold it and now that I've learned the new owners will serve meat in the kitchen I no longer want to eat there.

Visited here whist at a recent house sit locally. Wow ! I’m vegetarian not vegan but this place has to rate as the best meal out I’ve had in a very long time. We ordered 4 dishes to share and all of them were amazing. Nice big portions and just so tasty. We are heading there again this week and really looking forward to it. Glad I’m not living locally as I’d be here every week !

The well-prepared food is not only freshly made but flavoursome and good for the planet. One can eat rest assured that no animal or bird was cruelly treated and suffered the butcher's knife, or worse! It will be a sad day when the cafe closes. They're lovely people and I sincerely hope that Diane and family make a good transition. I travel far to eat there as do many of my friends.

Delicious, hearty food. Vegan fare at its best. Buddha bowl for me and Mushroom Stroganoff for hubby, with a side of fries. The Stroganoff was amazing, but as a couple of gluten free bods, hubby missed out on the accompanying roll. The staff were brilliant and did their best with a sourdough roll (my hubby is happy to eat sourdough if GF isn't available) but the sourdough wasn't as good as the rest of the food - completely okay anywhere else but the standard was so high, I felt this was a bit of a let down. Anyway, moan over. This is an oasis of deliciousness. You should definitely visit. I had a fantastic green smoothy - it was yummy 😋

Brilliant food. Healthy salads to delicious burgers and pies. Yummy cakes. A great choice of drinks, too. Alcoholic smoothies, non alcoholic beer, tasty coke, and good coffee. Inside seating is nice and the outside seating is on a quiet street, albeit full sun. A must gor vegans and non-vegans.

Absolutely fantastic place to eat, amazing choice, friendly staff and great quality food. I would highly recommend to anyone and strongly encourage non-vegans to try too!

Amazing. Read the reviews and decided to finish a walk early to try and get some lunch. We arrived at 2.30 and were worried they would be closing but they were more than happy to accommodate our group of 8. The food did not disappoint- we tried the Buddha bowl, wings, burger, pies, dirty fries and chicken tikka. It is without doubt the best food we have eaten in Wales. The meat eaters in the group were amazed and we were all stuffed. Highly recommend this super cafe.

Amazing selection of foods, all plant based / vegan - service was great and would especially recommend the mushroom dish and cauliwings! Also very kid friendly.

We were absolutely spoiled for choice and enjoyed every bite. The non vegans in our group went elsewhere and had such bad food envy we had to get takeaway desserts for them.

Wow wow... this place is a hidden gem and will be so sad when you close. Spicy colly and the humus platter was amazing. The chef is lovely and such a nice man who always comes out to say hello. A must place to go... even if your not a vegan like myself

What can I say that others haven’t already said? We had a fabulous lunch at a restaurant which clearly cares about the food it serves and can demonstrate to the most ardent sceptic that vegan food can be just as good as any other food. Lovely staff, and a really friendly atmosphere. Absolutely loved it!

Visited the eating Gorilla today and it was some of nicest food I’ve had and served by friendly staff. I’ve been staying in Trawsfynydd and got the bus over due to hearing good reviews. After a walk, the burger was just what I needed, absolutely delicious. Served with nice chips too. I also treated myself to the cauliflower wings, which were also outstanding, the portion was so generous I ended up taking the leftover wings for my tea. Lovely coffee and smoothies too. 5/5 would recommend to everyone, but especially vegans!!

Love this place! found it by fluke whilst looking for non mainstream eateries - it did not disappoint and it was worth the 45 miles drive in each direction to eat here! will return whenever in the area - this place needs to be in business and supported. As a meat eater, i endorse this vegan venue as the food and service was first class! Also i ate the biggest onion ring i have see in this place!
