If the food is an amazing as the coffee & hot chocolate, it must be scrumptious!!! We visited Bethesda for a mini break. One of the highlights was to to visit Domu. It was my sons birthday and I had promised him to take him for lunch tea and cakes. When we arrived it was very busy which is a good sign for a good restaurant. We were happy to wait for a table to be cleared. There was only one person who was serving and she was flustered. We were left ignored for a while and then when we spoke to her she very rudely said there is no space and the food is finished. We would have happily stayed for hot drinks and cake but her attitude was so unwelcoming and made us feel very uncomfortable. We left shocked and instead took our business to another place.

Delicious! The "original" hot chocolate is decadent and intensely flavourful - finally a hot chocolate that is not overly sweet and "sugar-flavour". I ordered the carrot cake and and this was also not overly sweet, but full of spice, moist and rich. The baker pays attention to flavour, rather than making up for the lack of it with sugar.

We visited back in March whilst passing through Bangor and haven’t stopped talking about it since! Upon entering we were instantly made to feel at home. We were impressed with the extensive tea menu and array of homemade cakes on display. We both enjoyed soup, one mushroom and one dahl, accompanied by a homemade pasty. My partner described this as the best soup he’d ever eaten. We also opted for a herbal tea which was served on a tray with a little timer and an espresso which came in an adorable glass. The cafe was full of character with air plants scattered above the bar and various plants growing along the windowsill. The owner was friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain how ordering works as soon as we walked in despite the fact that she was clearly busy running food and clearing tables. We’re already planning our return to Wales and can’t wait to stop by at Domu again. Thank you for your hospitality!

I have been to Domu several times, and enjoyed coffee and the beautiful cakes and pastries they make -- this time (06 October) I had a pasty in mushroom sauce, which was very tasty. Their tea is always excellent. The manager of the business is a really lovely rwoman who runs it with her husband who is a really good cook (and used to be in the Smiths -- you can buy his autobiography there). The decor is simple and they keep the place clean. The food is vegetarian and fresh every morning. All in all a pleasure to go there.

After installing my daughter in her room at the university we came down to the town for lunch, I had checked for vegetarian restaurants on Google and I'm so glad I chose Domu My daughter chose the pasty with the roasted tomato soup and I had the Potlava with the forest mushroom soup , both meals were extremely tasty and very filling and you could tell they had been prepared with care, the mushroom soup that I had with a pot lava was probably the best mushroom soup I've had in my life and I'm so glad I had some of the bread The owners are only too happy to discuss what the food is, how it's prepared, what the ingredients are, explain how they're all cooked and about the heritage of the dishes I was extremely happy with my visit and I can't wait to eat here again and I will get there earlier in the day so I could sample the bosch

We always try and visit here when in Bangor, hopefully early enough to sample the Borscht, Piroshki and gorgeous soups, but, if not, for coffee and some luscious cake. The vibe is calm, warm, friendly, welcoming and inclusive with a carefully curated soundtrack that is never too intrusive to hinder conversation. The food is authentic Ukrainian family fare cooked slowly and clearly with love - the borscht is beautifully balanced, full of flavour, with the comforting texture of slow cooked vegetables and beans. The coffee blend is so good we always buy a bag of beans to take home and the wonderful cakes are moist, rich and indulgent. The only suggestion I would make is that Dale may want to add a few Jim White tracks to his playlist, if he hasn’t already. Thanks Domu.

Grear spot in Bangor! Food was delicious, the place was cute and the service was exceptional (probably best I had in the UK). My wife is vegetarian and we were looking for good veggie (or vegan) food. In the morning, we booked a table to eat for 3pm . Upon arrival, we were told food was sold out (two hours before closing time and despite a table being booked). A borscht was offered, which my wife had and I had nothing. Ingredients on menu mention beet (of course), onion, carrot, cabbage and potatoes. The main ingredients appeared to be canned tomatoes and potatoes - tasted nothing like borscht from Eastern Europe. Pleasant service, but after planning our day around this, we were extremely disappointed.
