First time visiting here but so pleased we did. Small restaurant, but the service and food was excellent. We had the set menu for 2 and added a couple of dishes to the mains, yes there was a small wait between courses but this allowed or starters to settle and helped build the excitement of the mains (this is a restaurant - not a fast food chain!) it was so worth it as everything was freshly prepared and piping hot. We cleared our plates which says it all! We will definitely be returning to the restaurant, they offer takeaway but we loved the dining experience - it made it feel more special. Thank you for a lovely evening x

Went for a meal on Friday evening. The restaurant was small no bigger than a house lounge and in need of a spruce up, however what it lacked in ambience and design was made up with excellent service from staff Food arrived quickly and was hot . I can't recommend the sweet and sour chicken balls enough as they were superb . Definitely worth a visit or even a take away.

Had lunch here today. I love a sit-down Chinese and we ordered a set meal for 3. The food was good, the service very friendly. The reason it gets 3 stars rather than 4 or 5 is the price of soft drinks. For 2 pints of soda water, 2 pints of blackcurrant and soda, and 2 J20s we were charged £27, which is unjustifiably high and left a sour taste. The bill came with large text stating that the service charge is not included. We would have left a decent tip based on the food and service but not after the price of the drinks.

Girl mopping floor throughout our meal. Forgot to give us cutlery. Room cold and uninspiring. No background music. Last time I went it was totally different. Ok it was 5.30 but no excuse

Second time visiting and have experienced lovely, friendly service both times. Being served with patience and charm while juggling in house and takeaway orders. Food is exceptional with a variety of options, the several we have tried have been outstanding.

We booked this last minute. Service was ok but food was so salty! I had the prawn curry and for me not to finish it, it must've been bad. We had soup to start which was ok but it tasted like the main course had a bag of salt dumped into it. Unfortunately, will not be going again. First and last visit

No chicken in the chow mein and the special rice was mainly rice!!! For the price it was a disappointing meal for me. Hubby had beef in black bean and he said that was really nice but just a shame about the rest.

We came here for some dinner tonight as are staying in the area. The restaurant was very quiet on arrival but we was greeted by friendly staff. We had a set meal for two (starters and main) two drinks and the order was around £50. The food came out quick and was nice. I do think for the price there could have been a couple more of the satay chickens for starter. There was plenty of food for the mains though:) The drinks are a little on the pricey side. Thank you

It's always a pleasure at East Garden. Jenny is lovely, and the food quality is always top-notch. Obviously, you expect to wait a little longer on busy weekend evenings, and anyone who is shocked by this needs their heads testing! We have never had to wait too long, and the food has always been piping hot and tasty upon arrival. Portions are large enough that one main and one rice dish does me the following day. Don't listen to the negative reviews! From a local.

My family and I only have experience of takeaway meals from East Garden. I would like to give a very good review but I am hoping the chef will read this and take note. That is why I am writing a review. The people are pleasant and the flavours are good. My problem is with the Sweet and Sour Chicken which has crisp fresh vegetables but the chicken has been microwaved so that it has the consistency of rubber. Unless you have very strong teeth you won't be able to eat it. What should be succulent is as tough as an old boot. This isn't a one off, it is always like this. It is such a shame.

The owner deals with complaints by praying her customers go to hell (read review and comment from my partner). I am actually shocked at her behaviour and we are being told we should be shamed. We are not skint and would have happily paid the price if the food met the quality it had claimed, food was not good! I said I was not happy and she did not care, customer service is shocking!! Forgot to mention we drove all the way from Norwich (40minute drive) to return to her restaurant to regret our decision the minute we sat down!

Which was a bit of a shock but everything has gone up. So my partner and eldest child ordered from the menu and myself and other 3 daughters off the buffet menu then the lady in charge told my wife she can not eat from our buffet menu( fine she didn’t want to) then told her staff to tell us which was quite rude. Then the food arrived after an hour and several pings of a microwave! When it arrived it was awful the prawn toast smelled really bad fishy and everything was crusty and seemed old warmed food at that point we decided to pay for our drinks and starters. At that point she was rude and shouty then when i received the bill She tried charging £73 for drinks and 4 ribs, 4 tiny frozen spring rolls 4 pieces of smelly prawn toast and some crusty chicken beef (couldn’t really tell what meat it was) satay. I told her I’m not prepared to pay that for the quality of food, so gave her £60 (that was far too much) and proceed to leave as she started getting rude and shouting at that point she refused to let me and my family leave pushing and holding my children after I told not to touch any of us then blocking the doorway while my youngest is crying grabbing her arm. I have never had such a horrible experience or seen such shocking behaviour also seen her pushing her young staff. She threatened to call I told her to as she was the only one committing a criminal offence and am now going to the police myself. Absolutely mental behaviour to think you can grab a 5 year olds arm and push and keep people in the restaurant at ransom!!! Wow NEVER NEVER eat here!! I have just noticed other reviews I should of checked( look at her replys!!!)

We had the all you can eat menu, and whilst it was tasty, the food was very salty and it's an expensive option. Cost was £27 per person and you paid extra for drinks.

In comparison with other Chinese restaurants I have eaten at in the county of Norfolk, this was one of the most uninteresting and tastless meals I have had. I have eaten there in the past when they were much bussier and had a better meal. The family that run it were pleasant enough, but other than that, it was not a good experience.

Decided to go out for a romantic meal for two as our teenagers had already eaten, completely wish we hadn’t bothered. The restaurant is deathly silent, I’ve been to funerals with better atmosphere. You end up speaking in whispers to avoid drawing attention to yourselves. It was also very cold, I was tempted to appear rude and wear my coat whilst waiting as it was so chilly. The service was so slow, for all you can eat you would need 4 hours to get enough starters and mains to fill you up. Portions were tiny, for example when ordering chicken satay and ribs you would expect more than one each and as it took around an hour to arrive it puts you off ordering more! The mains were unpleasant tasting and drinks were very overpriced. For £73 for a meal for two and two drinks I was very underwhelmed. We felt sorry for the young waitresses as at least two of the other couples present at the same time were complaining about the lack of service and the quality of the food. In all this is the worst meal out we have had in a very long while and was very disappointing, we certainly wouldn’t go back.

Went for all you can eat with my partner, starters were lovely although portions are tiny and takes ages to come out, when the mains come out they didn’t tell us that whatever you don’t eat your charged for!! The food for the mains was vile the noodles were cooked in ridiculous amounts of oil and the chips were covered in salt to the point they weren’t eatable when we pulled the waitress over she just said she we inform the chef although heard nothing more, we then ordered some more drinks that took and hour and after asking where they were we was told that they have a lot of takeaway orders and they prioritise them over the restaurant which personally I disagree with. At the end when we asked for the bill even after complaining about all the points above they still added on a 20% service charge which we quested and was told we don’t have a choice but to pay it even with all the issues that we have had within the meal. Would not recommend to anyone!!

Perfect food every week we go there go prices

Food was tasty and fresh and had an authentic taste definitely not generic Chinese takeaway fayre. All you can eat menu had plenty of choice and there was no encouragement to move on to the next course. Service was attentive and polite and the overall experience was very enjoyable. The only negative from a personal point of view, was although the tables where spread out allowing an intimate dining experience the lighting was very bright, it's a personal preference but worth bearing in mind. Overall first time here and the unique food was a winner, will return, without a doubt👍🏻

Food is ok/good... Can see they have cut back on dishes ie amount of meat though. Also have to say, it's the most expensive Chinese takeaway we have been to. Given the prices, its definitely not value for money. Been 3 times, probably be the last.

An absolutely wonderful all you can eat experience at a good price! All the dishes we tried between three of us were brilliant and the lady serving us was such a friendly delight. Would definitely come back again and try the rest of the menu!

Lovely food. Good vegetarian options including set menu but has to be for 2. We opted for this and I added lemon chicken in. Nice. Slightly pricey for beer I'd say which is why I've knocked a star off. Think they might be the smaller size whereas I'd think the larger would be that price. Very friendly service.

This lovely lady helped us out when we broke down outside , very kindly made us tea and let us use her facilities while we waited for 6 hours . Thank you very much for your kind hospitality. Nice to see in this day and age

Called in to East Garden Chinese Restaurant on our way home from holiday in Norfolk. So pleased to have found it. If it was not so far from Essex we would be going back again soon. We were only customers having lunch. We were so warmly greeted and waited on. Choice of dining room which looked recently refurbished with Chinese decor. Have recommended to any friends travelling to Norfolk and we shall return when we go on Holiday again. Best Lemon Chicken I have ever had and my husband loved the Chow Mein.

A warm welcome smiles all round very polite showing us to our table, lovely room decor that instilled the orient into our minds. A drink was offered and very soon our food was brought to our table. My wife was happy getting Won Ton soup which made me happy seeing her enjoy it. My crispy chilli beef was the best I have ever had in my life so far. A brilliant experience that we would like to do again soon.

Four of us enjoyed a lovely meal here on Sunday night. We’ve lived in Swaffham 6 years and have always intended on visiting but with one thing or another we hadn’t got around to it. Piping hot starters, duck and mains, all delicious. We ordered from the all you can eat menu and found there to be plenty of choice and good value for money. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Sad to see it wasn’t very busy. Come on people of Swaffham - support local businesses.

Never visited this restaurant before and never will again. We booked for Valentines evening and what a disappointment! Firstly walking in the entrance was cluttered and untidy with rag/towel on the floor. We were then shown to a table in a stark brightly lit unwelcoming room. No background music, you could hear a pin drop. The table was covered in a paper table cloth with a thin paper napkin each. The table had on it cheap plastic flowers, a plastic candle and a large bottle of hand sanitiser. We wished at this point we had walked out. The food was ok nothing special. My soup bowel had two chips in the rim! Two things we ordered they came back and said they hadn’t got any, one item they completely forgot about. The person in charge was dressed in a thick woolly jumper and padded waistcoat and insisted on annoyingly constantly calling us dear! After an hour and 20 minutes we were glad to leave this dreary place.. They need dimmer lighting, background music to break the silence, linen table wear, bin the tacky flowers and candle. Smarten your appearance up and makeover that dreadful bare room. Drop the dear when addressing people. Dreadful place

Have been waiting for the food to arrive for over 90 minutes. Just got told they 'just need to cook it now'. The family are run off their feet, still letting new customers sit knowing full well the dalays. Other customers waiting in a line to collect food. Great way to spend a Saturday night! At this rate, it doesn't really matter if the food is any good!

This was probably the best Chinese meal I have ever had. We opted for the all you can eat menu and it did not disappoint. The food came out piping hot and freshly cooked. The batter on the chicken and beef satay sticks, lemon chicken, and sweet and sour chicken balls was perfect. It was light, crispy and not at all greasy. Every dish was simply divine. The service was also excellent and the staff were very attentive without being overbearing. This is my new favourite place.

We visited the East Garden 4 weeks ago on a Saturday evening . It was a special experience. Ordered the buffet eat what you like menu . We were given plenty of time to talk and soak up the atmosphere whilst waiting for the starters . Very tasty delicate portions so we ordered again . The chef " staff gave us time to chat whilst waiting for another portion of starters. . Next up . We took up the offer and paid the extra £3.00 for the duck . Wonderful duck . Served with a special sauce and pancakes cucumber and spring onions . By now we were ready for the main and couldn't wait . Our taste buds and tummies were rumbling . We ordered and ate our dishes . The unique lady who was running the resturant made our evening when she came and proudly announced how well we had done eating the portioned controlled food . I'm sure the rest of the diners were as thrilled with this announcement as we were with her sincere smile and volume . A special experience. Thank you .

I do not give 1 star reviews lightly! With that said if I was able to give 0 stars then I would not hesitate, this restruant is horrendous. It took 1 hour 15 mins to get our starters, which were sent back as they were terrible, pink chicken, frozen centres on the spring rolls, spare ribs were dry and 2 ribs were just bone and no meat. Our main order was taken after 1 hour 50 mins of being there, only to then be told there would be a delay. It was clear they were prioritising takeaway orders as they were flying out the door. The waitresses were all very young and had no idea at all, they were useless at best. One of them threw 2 bowls on our table and didn't say a word before she walked off. After all this we decided after 2 hours and only 1 edible starter, that this place is not for us! We approached the owner to complain about our experience, she was not interested and all she wanted us to do was pay! She tried to charge us for a full buffet menu when all we had was one edible starter, she argued and argued with us stating that 'we don't understand because of covid' she was implying that we should expect long wait times because of Covid! What a joke. We were not the only people complaining that night, the whole atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable. In a nut shell, do not eat here, there are plenty on Chinese restruants around which are leaps and bounds better, we thought we'd give this place a go despite reading some of the prior negative reviews, as not all negative reviews are fair, mine however is more than fair! I look forward to the owners reply...

Table booked for 20.00. Was seated, but then sitting at table for 20 mins before waitress came over to take drinks and starters order. By 21.10, we had received only 2 items of the starter order, spoke to waitress who said they were busy. Two other tables walked out due to slow or lack of service, in the end we got up and walked out, after paying for the items we had. There was no communication from the staff as to delays or problems, just "won't be long". Having worked in hospitality, I know just a little hospitality and chat could have made all the difference. The waitress and staff were obviously doing their best, but management needs to step up. Cannot comment on the food as between the 3 of us, we only got a bowl of soup and prawn toasts

We were extremely disappointed with the waiting times, took 1 hr to get 2 starters of the 6 that we ordered. We did not even get the prawn crackers that we ordered, the simplest starter that you can get. We were then told don't worry your mains will be with you soon, well we had not ordered any as we were still waiting on the starters! Total lack of service and when we opted to leave after an hour as we had no idea when the rest of starters would arrive let alone the mains as it was gone 9. We paid for the two starters, was given no apology and was even charged for the coke we had, would have been nice as a good will gesture. We were not alone, we were one of three tables that walked out. It was the bad customer service that really got us.

Poor service.... Didn't get to experience the food as after 90 minutes and seeing tables served ahead of us even though they arrived 30 and 45 minutes after us we left without eating. Unhappy. Com... ☹️

We went for my partner's birthday and there was 6 of us. We had the all you can eat. The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant. The girl who served us worked so hard and the manager was really friendly and polite. We live over an hour away but it will definitely be worth the trip to eat there again.

I’ve been visiting this family run restaurant for at least 10 years and have always had great food and a great experience. Go for the food, the service and the relaxing atmosphere. The “All you can eat” menu is excellent value with a wide selection of dishes to choose from. You won’t be disappointed; highly recommended.

What has happened ro the East Garden Chinese, a regular treat for us to eat there? We went at lunchtime a few weeks ago and the food was not the same. Ittasted the same no matter what we ordered! Soup, starters and main courses all tasted the same with small portions. We suspect it was not the usual chef at lunchtime on the day we visited. We will not be returning in a hurry!

Looking for a good lunch passing through this place exceeded expectations on what Swaffham can offer. Deepfried prawn dumplings and softshell crab were both highlights, and we also enjoyed Szechuan style aubergines, pork in a plum sauce, chicken in garlic sauce and Chinese greens. The egg fried rice - the simple test of a good Chinese restaurant - was perfect. I dont usually care about service but our hostess was marvellous in accommodating us with our small child on a hot day. Thank you

Would have given 5 stars as very friendly and lovely food. However, booked a table as all you can eat, checked prices over the phone.....when we got the table, menus were placed in the middle and some laminated A4 sheets were underneath. Booked from the menu....did wonder why they had pricing next to dishes but assumed that because we had booked as all you can eat, this was fine. Food and service was lovely but when the bill came, everything was individually priced so we asked why this was when we booked all you can eat. Lady came out and appeared quite upset when we tried to explain how we had not noticed the laminated sheets were for all you can eat menu and wasnt explained this. We were very calm and just wanted to point out that in future, it would be better if this was explained to customer's, especially if they have booked all you can eat. The lady basically said we should have worked this out for ourselves and wouldn't even show any empathy or understanding, on this basis....we wont be going back. Shame, as really enjoyed food and service up to this point...and btw did pay the full bill.

I booked a table for two at this lovely little restaurant on a sunny Saturday evening. The garden way lovely a cool. The girl who served us was so polite and the food was very tasty and filling. Total cost of the two meals was about £30, so roughly £15 each. It was well worth it!

BEST wonton soup I have ever been served!!I find the food fresh and homemade when I go. I keep coming back. It is one of the 2 restaurants in Swaffham that is enjoyable every time I go. The wonton soup is the best I ever had. I haven’t figured out my favorite main course. I keep trying something different. Family-run restaurant: You feel like an extension of their family when you dine. Very attentive and so friendly and inviting.

We ate at this resturant for the first time last night. Choosing the all you can eat option. Enjoyed everything, the starters were amazing especially the ribs and satay chicken. Mains just as good, I can highly recommend the duck noodles, best I have ever had. The young waitress was very professional and the owner was lovely and welcoming. We didn't have to wait long at all for our food and all of it was hot and fresh. Will be returning in the new year and recommending too all friends and family. Thank you for a lovely evening

The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. We had the ‘all you can eat’ and every dish was cooked to perfection. Very happy customers

We were passing through Swaffham on a Sunday evening and thought we'd try our luck. The charming lady was happy to seat us although no one else was around and it was 9pm. The food was tasty and the service friendly. What a pleasant surprise....

friendly server, fantastic food and prices are very good as well. Jemmy the host of the East Garden she is very guest friendly. I have been going there for the last 10 years and has never let me down. We also had our Christmas party from work there in 2015 and 2016 had we had plenty of food. I can highly recommend this place
