We visited the eagle for lunch. It wasn’t busy at all in there. We opted for the sharing board which was £40. For this price we got chicken wings that looked inedible, a reheated chewy scotch egg, chewy salami, soggy salad leaves. The sausage roll and sourdough bread were fine but for that price we were really disappointed, we were also given dirty plates. We probably should’ve complained at the time but felt a bit sorry for the lone barman whose service was good, it was really afterwards when we pondered on how much we spent we felt cheated, not tea any excuse for bad such bad food at that price in a quiet pub !!

God created heaven and earth, separated the seas and skies, gathered the waters and grew the vegetation. What the author doesn’t tell you is that on the seventh day, an overwhelming hunger manifested in Him. Lo and behold The Eagle on Askew Road and the delights of the Eagle beef burger garnished with beer onions, cheese, iceberg, pickles, ketchup, mayo and fries. Never was an appetite so satiated and on the seventh day He rested. The establishment was superb, the staff very polite and attentive. It was a pleasure to dine there and would recommend without hesitation. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back and work through the menu…..

We met some friend for Saturday lunch. Our booking was quite early so there were not many customers in at the time. Despite this it felt a little chaotic, some of our drinks were wrong and we had to ask for things a couple of times throughout the visit before receiving them. That aside the venue was nice as was the food and we had the table for as long as we needed. There was no pressure to leave. Sadly the heaters were not working which was shame as we could have done with them.

We visited yesterday (8/05/21) after being recommended on our visit to London, we were not disappointed, this is a beautiful pub with a lovely outdoor area, well covered, lots of heaters and even hot water bottles if you needed them. Our host Jon was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered food which came out pretty quickly and was lovely. I would definitely recommend this pub and we will be returning again sometime soon hopefully. Thanks to all the team fir a great experience.

I chose this pub as we are only able to go to pub gardens at the moment and their boast of a fully covered garden with heaters for every table was very appealing give the forecast was rain. Despite being an hour early the host was charming and showed us straight to our table. All the staff here are superb, the best part or our visit. The triple dipped chips were so yummy and incredibly hot which was quite a feet when served outside in the cold and damp. Unfortunately the promised heaters really didn't live up to the hype so by the time we left I was shivering violently. Young's order app lets this pub down the most however. Long winded with charges being coming through twice then corrected off we didn't have a clue if we have paid too much or too little by then end. As it turned out they made another charge the two days later to correct their mistakes. On the whole though, I would go back for the staff alone, the food is good too but I think i'll wait for the inside to open again for I return.

Last night my husband and I met our friends, another couple, who live nearby. It was our first time eating out, and we were so impressed. We didn’t know til later that it was only the Eagle’s second night open, and it must have been so stressful for them, but until the manager mentioned it we wouldn’t have known. The front outside looked full. We came in- hadn’t booked - the manager quickly took our details for track and trace. Attractive sanitizer was displayed right at the entrance and strategically posted around. We went out to the spacious garden. Our long wooden table for four had six plastic chairs - clearly not their usual cool decor. Four green plastic chairs separated by red (to keep empty so we could distance from the other couple. We delayed ordering supper to have time to enjoy drinks, so we deliberately slowed service. We didn’t mind - we didn’t feel rushed.Husbands loved their beer, I didn’t notice which kinds.Among us we had chicken Caesar salad, crab mac & cheese, chicken & tarragon pie, Camembert, tomato mozzarella pesto.Everything excellent.Good value for money too: we ordered too much and yet food & drink came to underbelly£50/couple.We spent about three hours there, had a great time catching up. They asked us politely to leave the garden at 9, to respect the neighbours which is lovely.Absolutely perfect night. We wish them well & cant wait to return.

I would describe this place as style over substance. Great local location. Great seating and general vibe inside. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food astonishingly over priced and woeful. I can afford a good meal but I hate to afford a bad one at a steep price. If you pay but don't get the same level expected it is disappointing. The roast was a joke. 2 pieces of sub standard beef (and given the ginger pig butchers down the road there is no excuse for bad beef in this street) 2 potatoes and a mountain of barely cooked chunks of celeriac (mashed is fine but chunks..really??!) Seriously that ain't worth 20 pounds. You give me bad beef and 2 potatoes. At least spoil me with cheap potatoes? Anyway. I've tried it twice as my local and I'm never wasting another penny on food here. Go to the oak. 1 min walk and 100 miles better. In fact the oak should buy you so they can illustrate how much better they are than the competition?!! Get a new chef and sort out the menu.. thx

The Eagle, on Askew Road has a lovely beer garden with a burger shack, and in the summer it is pleasant to sit in the sun for Sunday lunch. The food is priced for London.. £10 for a classic burger (only), plus £4 for curly fries, £14 for fish and chips, £18.50 for Sunday beef roast... Expensive! However, what would deter us from going back is just the appalling service by the lady at the till in the beer garden... slow, point blank refusing to get crisps/snacks from inside (even though she had just served the previous customer, and had agreed to go inside for drinks), ignoring the queues, unhelpful with the drinks.. for a Sunday lunch at that price, one would expect better.

Went there for Sunday lunch in the beer garden. We had several mishaps which surprised me for a Geronimo Inns, where I usually have much better experience (having been a regular of Prince Albert and Builder Arms). The waiter in charge of the burger shack (curly hair, cap and beard) never smiled, had a big attitude, refused to do table service despite me having opened a tap (he and a waitress confirmed they could take order if we opened a tap), he also told us off for some of our children (3 and 5 years old) playing with a few pebbles (but not throwing or anything dangerous, just pushing and playing with them). This isn't a family friendly place. Several times, the waiter disappeared in one of the corners to take a break and he generally looked almost stone...He never smiled and forgot half of our bill. We pointed out, being honest, that most of the food hadn't been charged to our bill, and after 10 mins of trying to sort it, he and another waitress came back with another bill (correct this time i.e. double the amount) but didn't offer to take anything back or give us drinks or coffees for free. I thought this was very poor and anti-commercial attitude. The burgers were served just wrapped in paper with no plates. The table we sat at was dirty from previous customers and we had to ask the waiter to clean it, which took him 10mn to get around to do. Generally, I think the staff has a very unfriendly / chip on the shoulder/ adversarial behaviour. When we left around 4pm, we found the manager and one of the waitress were sat sharing a bottle of wine and smoking in the front terrace when the pub was still packed and needed staff to look after customers. I personally will never go back to this pub. I also think some of the meals on the sunday menu look overpriced. I also urge Geronimo Inns to investigate how the pub is staffed and currently managed.

The atmosphere is nice, the garden is lovely, the food so-so but the wine prices are horrendous. A bottle of prosecco - prosecco - will set you back almost £35. It's cheaper in numerous restaurants.

We asked the weight of 28 day aged Angus sirloin triple cooked chips, watercress and béarnaise sauce £24.50 which they weighed and was 210 grams ? ( just over 7oz's) so we thought that was quite small (after being cooked) & expensive. So we went for Ale battered cod, triple cooked chips mushy peas, tartar sauce £13.95 big mistake ? the meal was terrible, the fish was just warm with soggy batter, the lemon was hard (must have been cut yesterday) the mushy peas were pureed frozen peas, tartare sauce was warm & the chips awful. I did not eat any of mine and sent it back to the kitchen, the manager eventually came to us and explained 'we never get complaints' and offered us another meal which we declined. The shine has definitely gone off this establishment & we wont be returning to our local- shame.

we went here for a family meal over the bank holiday weekend, lovely space outside if the weathers great. The roast dinners look incredible - but we all went for burgers from the shack in the garden. My chicken burger was really tasty and a large portion of curly fries. I would recommend. Drinks were on the expensive side, but a nice atmosphere. Lots of kids, so family orientated, and board games are available if which is fun.

We came here as a large group with small children and booked one of the garden huts which are really big. The only issue is that there is quite a large space from were you can sit and the actual table. They also ran out of high chairs but then the beer garden was packed as it was a sunny day with lots of families. Most of us ordered the Sunday Roast dinners which were good, average I'd say 6-7 out of 10. The burgers looked really good though. The burger shack is located in the beer garden. The staff were pleasant enough. The price is what I expected, chicken roast £15. Overall, it's a large pub in Shepherds Bush and okay for families with a good variety of food. We had people coming from all over London. Would I come back? Probably not it wasn't great but if I lived nearby, sure I'd pop in for a drink.

I popped in here with my daughter who lives nearby, we just wanted somewhere local that did decent pub grub. We weren't disappointed, one burger and chips and one cod and chips. Both were what I would describe as good pub grub and at about £27 for both not too bad for London prices. We had a beer and a glass of wine as well and they were good. It's part of a chain but it was well presented and felt welcoming, the staff were all very friendly and helpful with the chap who brought us our food and cleared away wanting to know if we had enjoyed the meal. The garden looks great and I think a late morning coffee out the front or in the garden would be very relaxing.

On Tuesday I returned to a pub I have frequented for years, The Eagle on Askew Road. I used to live in the area and would pop in at least once a week, however I had not been for many months. On this occasion I sat down with my friends and looked at the menu. The prices had risen since I was last there, and nothing really stood out from the menu. £13.50 for a standard burger is excessive I believe when considering this is a local pub. More importantly my vegetarian friends had an extremely slim choice of options, all of which were also overpriced. This would not matter however, were the food and overall dining experience of decent quality.Unfortunately it was not. I went to the bar to order my food and drinks. A man was being served next to me but there were three bartenders standing at the end of the bar talking to each other. I was left waiting for an uncomfortably long time. The chap serving the man next to me called the other staff over three times, after which they finally came to serve me. However they slowly wandered over whilst continuing their conversation, even as they stood in front of me. On top of that it took them an incredibly long time to actually serve me, even as they took my order. I was also given olives with no means to eat them, and the manager had to remind them to give me cocktail sticks. Not a huge inconvenience but a basic service.Overall the service was poor and unapologetic, the food was overpriced, the beer was extremely expensive and the majority of them were unavailable. This was a massive disappointment considering I have fond memories from my visits in the past. I will not be returning in the future.

Starters of chicken thighs and cured trout both at £7 were fairly nice. My wife had the Chicken Kiev (£14.50) but was surprised how dry it was. None of that garlic butter oozing out. My Lemon Sole (£16.50) was really nice and would have again. The garden looks a heap now with far too many tables and didn't look too child friendly. The staff though were very helpful and willing.

Used to go here regularly with kids and enjoy the beer garden, but this is no longer possible, unless the children behave like they are in a library! Other pubs in the area serve better food and we will not be returning, as could not have felt less welcome. The staff were rude and aggressive, shame as this used to be a really lovely and welcoming pub.

We headed here on the hottest day of the year so far (20 degrees, don't get too excited) for a drink in the highly recommended beer garden. And it did not disappoint. Fun and vibrant, the place had a real atmosphere about it and plentiful seating meant that after work on a Thursday we were not in competition for the seats. An enjoyable couple of hours plus table service meant that our dinner booking down the road was postponed twice! We were almost tempted by the delicious smelling BBQ food but not this time...

We go to this pub quite often for a drink as it has a lovely cosy feel about it and it is also great in the summer with the beer garden. There's always a nice crowd of people and service is warm and friendly. I just wish that the food was a bit better. They do have a tendency to go for quantity rather than quality with their Sunday roasts. Some of the cuts of meat are quite cheap and they fill the plate with poorly cooked vegetables. The simple dishes tend to be the most successful, for example the sharing chicken or fish and chips are always good. Some 'fancy' dishes just don't work... for example I had a seabass and crayfish chowder a few weeks ago, which was very disappointing (watery and had no crayfish in!)Overall, if the quality of food matched the atmosphere, it would be a winner.

We were there yesterday for lunch from North London. W read fee positive reviews about the place being family friendly as we have a todler girl and were not disappointed. We were given plastic cuttlery for her and crayons to colour the kids menu. The sunday roast very good, good portions and quality. We saw adjoining tables getting a whole chicken platter to share and wished we had one! Maybe next time. The palce is under refurb from 1-17 march 2017 so some areas are a bit messy for building work but I suppose they will come back better than ever. Staff was very friendly, we will certainly return.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Came to this pub with a group of friends for a quiet celebration of our friends 21st birthday last week. We were all having a lovely time until James the manager ran up to us with the line "get out my pub you know what you've done". As you can image we were all shocked by how rude we were being spoken to without any explanation as to why we were being kicked out after spending a considerable about of money and time here. His next line was "unless you've been baking a bloody cake in the toilet get out my pub and do not ever come back". Without any proof we were being accused of taking drugs. We were all very offended at this accusation, as non of us were taking any drugs and are actually very against them. What was most shocking was the fact that with around 20 other tables he assumed it was us. Was this because of our age? It is a shame as me and my friends are all local and up until last Thursday very much enjoyed having a drink at this pub as the beer garden is pleasant. However after this experience of the so called manager being so aggressive and unprofessional and swearing at us, me and my friends will not be returning, nor will my family or my families friends. We had all eaten as well, which most of us had to send back anyway, perhaps that is why James had it in for us? The worst part is that it was actually a close friends 21st, and his day was totally ruined and this was the main event surrounding his day, rather than the fun we were having before. A boy only turns 21 once and unfortunately thanks to James his day wasn't as planned.

We come here for drinks all the time great selection of drinks and amazing beer garden. Staff are lovely however the food is so bad! I have eaten here twice now. The Sunday roast is £17 and you get a few slithers of meat, overcooked Yorkshire pudding and soggy veg. When I ordered the salad once it was missing a few of the ingredients. Great for a drink not a meal.

Sadly, as I was a reasonably frequent Balans guest, I am compelled to write a bad review. Cocktails were fabulicios, but alas, that is where the fabulous ended. The menu seems reduced, so we picked bites and sides; croquettes, mac cheese, chicken strips and skin on chips. These I sum up as cold, cold, burned and old. We watched the burned chicken, croquettes and chips in the windows for at least 15 minutes so they were stone cold, even the dishes, when we eventually persuaded the hard pushed waiter to bring g them to us. The chicken was black in places; however, the most inexcusable was the chips. No skin and very old. When I say old, the potatoes had clearly been cooked once and left for a day or two to go grey and powdery. Whether they were fried again on the day I do not know as they too, were cold. All in all, for £127, we had six cocktails and the disappointment of having to order a pizza when we got home. Really disappointing, as Balans used to he a bit if a staple of mine and only ten minutes away. Sorry, Balans, once loved, but from now on forgotten. I recommend the Bull next door feom now on.

The most unfriendly and rude lady manager I ever met. Definitely customer service and attitude is not her thing. We were a large group of people we went there after work ( we literally work opposite the pub) few of us already with drinks in hand and majority of us not, for the simple reason we were not settled yet, we were chitchatting when suddenly the lady introduced herself as a floor manager, she pointed her finger to each of us and said “ because you are occupying 25% of the floor, I want each of you ordering a drink” Obviously we were shocked and speechless and we left. Shame on her.

This is a beautiful old pub with an inviting real flame gas fire. Went with my family of 6. The food & drink’s were served very quickly. We had a combination of six different main meals & everyone was more than happy with what they ate. Five of us dessert of apple, berry & rhubarb crumble & custard which was to die for. Only hiccup was when we arrived at 7.30 there was a live band playing. Now as good as they were & the songs they played, they were rather loud & we had to shout at one another to make ourselves heard. When booking I asked for the quiet part of the restaurant as 4 of our group being 60-+ in ages weren’t to keen on loud music as we’d have to shout over it. But all in all a great pub with wonderful food & hard working staff.
