This pub is so lovely and welcoming with affordable drinks and tequila. The barmaid Tyla was so friendly and gave a lot of information about the area for places to eat. Will definitely visit again hopefully tyla is still working there.

The earliest review I can select is May 2022. My memories of this pub was in 1990 when it was the Frigate & Firkin. Superb beer and music. Live guitar guy came outside to talk to us still playing American Pie via radio link (magic) while the pub inside was rocking to his playing! Also first pub chain to sell Beamish - lovely. Life memory.

We visited last night, buying multiple pints & some crisps. So spent a fair bit of money. I asked for a glass of water & was charged £1 for it!!!!! I have never been charged for water in a pub. Absolutely disgusting Staff behind the bar were not exactly nice either. We will definitely NOT be going here again

The Beaconsfield is around the corner from our airbnb. We are here for a month and there are several pubs close by. The Beaconsfield is perfect for happy hour. Seating is inside and outside. Chris, the Manager, is a perfect host. Drinks are reasonably priced. No food, but there are plenty of good options in the neighborhood. Contrary to other posts, the bathrooms are pristeen. We highly recommend if you want to feel like a local.

What a great place! Had a heavy day as exhibitors at a show at Olympia and we booked space in The Beaconsfield which is just around the corner, for us all to relax, catch up, have a drink and a bite to eat. It was really great. We were looked after brilliantly and had the best evening. Thank you to the team.

Visited this great little boozer whilst exhibiting at London Toyfair 2022. I always used to visit with clients at lunchtimes for a quick pint and in the evenings fir some less quick pints, I'm never disappointed! Seems to be under new ownership since my last visit in 2019 and whilst they no longer serve food, they were really accommodating of our group and super friendly. Massive shout out to Barry who was an awesome barman, really friendly, helpful and had an excellent playlist on the best jukebox I've seen in a pub since the early 00's! Don't waste time queuing for beers at the hand and flowers during a show, go straight to the beaconsfield and get served a beer with a friendly smile!

We was looking for somewhere to eat after visiting the travel show and found this pub after googling places close to the Olympia due to catching a train back. This is a lovely London pub, service good and food is very reasonable for London area. We will definitely visit again when back at the Olympia, it is a must if you are in the area. I had a burger which came with fries and coleslaw and my husband had the homemade lasagne with garlic bread and it also came with a side salad- both dishes very well presented and delicious.

Visited this pub whilst at The Ideal Home show. I ordered the breaded chicken burger with chips. My meal was delicious, there was so much of it and it really tasted nice. It was hot and came out after a minimal wait. Great proximity to Olympia, and definitely better value than eating in the show venue. Will absolutely visit again. Only downfall was my food being served on a wooden board, I much prefer a good old plate!

Went here on Thursday evening with my Brother and wife as they had come down to visit me whilst working at the GBBF. I was really disappointed that they had no Real Ale on especially as it next to Olmpia where the Great Brittish Beer Festival was taking place. We had some food there but there wasn't much choice on the menu, I had a burger as did my brother which were okay and his wife had Scampi but didn't get as much as she thought as they had served it on top of a bowl of lettuce like a prawn cocktail .

Natasha is probably the best barmaid I’ve had the pleasure of being served by, she really goes out of her way to make your visit fun and pleasant. It’s a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and the nibbles are nearly as good as my mum’s 😊 the other bar staff are very nice too just not quite as picturesque.

The Beaconsfield has the dubious honour of being one of the closest pubs to the well known London Olympia exhibition centre. It is certainly the only one within sight of the complex, and therefore at certain times of the day overrun by the ubiquitous tradesmen who deliver and set up the exhibition stands and all the associated auxiliary equipment. And yet, because of its location in amongst residential side streets, also frequented by some of the locals (see picture of the outside). It is busy at odd times, and quiet when other places are rammed. As an exhibitor at Olympia, this place is the most convenient watering hole after a hard day on the exhibition stand, and I was able to visit at various times in consecutive weeks, thus gaining a good insight into the peak times and the clientele. Drinks wise, it is the usual selection of generic brands, with London prices to match. However, I inadvertently stumbled in during 'happy hour', so 2 for 1 was a welcome, if unexpected, surprise. The service is a little lackadaisical but friendly and relaxed, and the decor a little dour and rundown (see picture), and the place can get oppressively hot when busy. This isn't helped by the high windows with no shades or curtains, so direct sunlight can be irritating. The TV screens seem to be always on, turned to some obscure satellite channel showing long-forgotten old movies. My biggest complaint has to be the state of the toilets, the gents at any rate. A steep and narrow descent into a windowless subterranean dungeon which looks like it is awaiting a grant from the National Trust. The stench is overpowering and is badly in need of sorting out. Now to the good bit: the food. Over a series of visits I was able to sample a range of items from the quite basic but nevertheless appetising menu (see picture). I sampled a couple of the sandwiches. First the BLT, which for some reason I expected to come on toasted bread, but was actually served on cold brown bread, but came with chips. I liked the addition of horseradish, which seems an odd choice but strangely works (see picture). Another nice touch is everything is served personally by the chef. On the second occasion I chose the sausage with caramelised onion sandwich. This time on ciabatta bread, which was much better (see picture). The mustard sauce was inspired. The sandwiches tend to range between £6-£7.50. On the third occasion, visiting with a colleague, we both decided to try the fish & chips. This was truly excellent! A substantial piece of cod with a thick and crispy batter - as good a fish supper as you can get anywhere (see picture). Highly recommended! And at £12.50 worth every penny. Finally, on our last day, I sampled their signature burger (see picture). Nothing remarkable, but still very good. At £9.75 for the basic burger with cheese & bacon, that's pretty good. On the whole, I'm surprised that this place isn't busier given the quality of the food. I really don't think they push it in enough. The drinks are nothing special, and neither is the decor, but the food might just be the thing they do best.

Our family were in London for an event at Olympia and we spotted this pub right across the road on our first day. It was the close proximity and convenience that led us there that day for lunch but it was the great customer service and well priced, delicous food that kept us coming back and we ended up having lunch there three days in a row! The staff were great, especially considering that the pub was heaving pretty much constantly, with the line for ordering going out the door a lot of the time! The food menu had a nice selection and, being a group of four, we made good use of the "2 meals for £14.99" deal. I can highly recommend both the Beef Burger and Scampi from that meal deal. The portions are a good size and the quality and flavour were superb. This pub will most definitely be our "local" for any future events at Olympia.

Called in for a quick pint while doing the Cask Marque ale trail. Only had 2 real ales on-the uninspiring GK IPA and another GK (forget the name). Opted for the later and instantly regretted it. Tasted of vinegar, complained to barman who was totally disinterested so asked for a refund and left. Avoid if you like well kept real ales

I had been to Olympia on business and wanted a small libation with a colleague to digest the event we had attended. Little did I know that I would be entering probably (no scratch that) undoubtedly the worst pub I have ever been in.As I approached the empty bar, my colleague told me his beverage of choice and popped off to avail himself of their facilities. By the time he had returned I had only just been greeted and in no uncertain terms, made to feel like an inconvenience. After an interminable amount of time, I was proffered my pint of Guinness, whilst my colleague rolled around laughing at the total lack of service. When I offered my card for payment I was rudely informed that I had to go around the bar because " I can't bring it to you can I! It's attached to the bar" Yes, well that's what contactless is for I thought?. When I asked for a receipt I was treated to yet more huffing and puffing before having the till slip shoved at me. As I settled down to try and enjoy my pint, I realised that I had just over 2 inches of head, so I returned to the bar. Unfortunately, my presence was ignored and with mounting dissatisfaction, thought, blow it, just drink it and leave. However the Beaconfield hadn't finished with me or my colleague just yet. Whatever they wash their glasses with, it certainly wasn't clean becuase the smell from both of our drinks was enough to have us heading for the door. I can not imagine that anyone from the brewery has visited this place in a very long time and I genuinely think that it would be better served being turned into apartments. AVOID THIS DIVE AT ALL COSTS.

Popped in after a tiring day at Olympia for a refreshing pint. Unfortunately the beer (1730 IPA from Taylor Walker) was sour & expensive, at £4.10 a pint. Nobody else in the place. Staff (of 1) very off-hand. Gave up after about half a pint, and left.

Came to visit after an exam, Absolutely shocking service, waited for 45 minutes for my "ultimate cod" so small even Jonah could have eaten it. Turned out to look like an "ultimate goldfish" fried to cremation. For £16 Oliver would have asked for more the first time round. My friends salad was brown, and another's sandwich was drier than Ghandis flip flop, the last meal to come out was the sandwich... Still waiting for the mayonnaise that was asked for about an hour ago. Never coming back here again. And I think they've gone to Mexico for the burrito

The ale quality at the Beaconsfield was typical Taylor Walker, very poor. After visiting many of the pubs it is clear that the company has no interest in keeping real ale to any sort of standard. The interior of the beaconsfield is quite nice and the staff are friendly, it's just the ale that lets the place down.

First and last visit to this place during a break from an event at the Olympia around the corner. During my visit I ordered the apple pie with ice cream and the millionaires cheesecake with ice cream, along with tea for 2 people. When we were served the tea it arrived in a teapot which was fine but we were given filthy teacups, which we asked to have changed. One the cups were changed we began to pour the tea which just about filled one cup and again had to go bring this to someone's attention. The pot was refilled but when I started to drink from the cup, the water was tepid! The apple pie and ice cream followed and the ice cream was half slosh when it had arrived and had clearly been defrosted and refrozen. The apple pie itself had clearly been nuked and the pastry was beyond bizarre so I stuck to the filling only. The cheesecake was also strangely rubbery as a pose to being soft. The only saving grace to this visit was the fact that the chef was about to finish up but stayed behind to serve us when we arrived. Unfortunately this pub does not seem ideal to dine in but might be good for alcoholic beverages.

Went prior to Olympia show about 3pm. Pub was virtually empty but still had to wait 30 mins for food. Chef said that the mushrooms take a long time to cook! Anyway the mushrooms were tepid, the ciabatta soggy and rubbery. The pub also does not do the menu range that the website stated. I was looking forward to a mushroom pie, but was advised that the pub, although part of the chain, di not do the full chain menu.

Yesterday, we had an event at The Beaconsfield, that a friend and I had been organising with the landlord since last October (following a pleasant lunch, with attentive service). The landlord had said our event would be 'no problem' but it was clear it was. There was barely enough food on the day for our party (a few extras turned up on the day and were only catered for generally but only mainly due to others having pre-ordered not having their complete meal) and I ended up waiting tables for two hours, which I didn't expect to do! The pub has a huge sign saying that they can cater for events 'big or small' - there was only 32 of use but whilst the food was good, clearly the organisation that goes into running an effective event was missing! The landlord wanted people to start paying for their food before they had eaten (this was not our agreement), it took over an hour and a half to serve everyone with something (the whole meal took much longer). There was no thought that people would like to sit together so tables were laid out as normal - apparently it was not possible to push tables together (this was not what we were told last October). There was only one chef in the kitchen and clearly no waiting staff. This is no way to run a big event (which the pub advertises that it can!). To say we are very disappointed is an understatement. By trying to manage the event on the day, with my daughter and my friend organising the kitchen and waiting tables, I barely spoke to everyone one and felt I had not been able to enjoy myself. I paid to eat but wasn't paid to work!!! Give this one a miss!

Sadly, as I was a reasonably frequent Balans guest, I am compelled to write a bad review. Cocktails were fabulicios, but alas, that is where the fabulous ended. The menu seems reduced, so we picked bites and sides; croquettes, mac cheese, chicken strips and skin on chips. These I sum up as cold, cold, burned and old. We watched the burned chicken, croquettes and chips in the windows for at least 15 minutes so they were stone cold, even the dishes, when we eventually persuaded the hard pushed waiter to bring g them to us. The chicken was black in places; however, the most inexcusable was the chips. No skin and very old. When I say old, the potatoes had clearly been cooked once and left for a day or two to go grey and powdery. Whether they were fried again on the day I do not know as they too, were cold. All in all, for £127, we had six cocktails and the disappointment of having to order a pizza when we got home. Really disappointing, as Balans used to he a bit if a staple of mine and only ten minutes away. Sorry, Balans, once loved, but from now on forgotten. I recommend the Bull next door feom now on.

The most unfriendly and rude lady manager I ever met. Definitely customer service and attitude is not her thing. We were a large group of people we went there after work ( we literally work opposite the pub) few of us already with drinks in hand and majority of us not, for the simple reason we were not settled yet, we were chitchatting when suddenly the lady introduced herself as a floor manager, she pointed her finger to each of us and said “ because you are occupying 25% of the floor, I want each of you ordering a drink” Obviously we were shocked and speechless and we left. Shame on her.

This is a beautiful old pub with an inviting real flame gas fire. Went with my family of 6. The food & drink’s were served very quickly. We had a combination of six different main meals & everyone was more than happy with what they ate. Five of us dessert of apple, berry & rhubarb crumble & custard which was to die for. Only hiccup was when we arrived at 7.30 there was a live band playing. Now as good as they were & the songs they played, they were rather loud & we had to shout at one another to make ourselves heard. When booking I asked for the quiet part of the restaurant as 4 of our group being 60-+ in ages weren’t to keen on loud music as we’d have to shout over it. But all in all a great pub with wonderful food & hard working staff.
