The Dumpling Tree in Cambridge

El Craic es 90. Escuché esta expresión en la tele (Ven a cenar conmigo) . . es un término de Irlanda del Norte / Belfast (posiblemente toda Irlanda, no estoy seguro) que significa 'excelente, pasando el mejor momento de tu vida'. ¿Por qué no 100? Supongo que porque no importa lo bueno que seas, siempre hay margen para mejorar. Quiero decir, incluso Usain Bolt podría haber corrido los 100 metros en 0. ¡01 segundos menos! De todos modos, después de haber pasado todos mis casi setenta y dos años caminando, andando en bicicleta y conduciendo más allá de The Dumpling Tree y pensando que parecía poco atractivo, ahora estoy completamente encantada de haber descubierto que, mientras aún estoy viva, estaba completamente equivocada. Seis de nosotros tuvimos una comida absolutamente brillante (y muy diferente chino) allí anoche. Las albóndigas estaban magníficas (ganó langostino) (y preferimos fritas) , los satays deliciosos, y mi pollo chile estaba fuera de este mundo. No demasiado picante a pesar de que tenía tres símbolos de chile en el menú. Todos estaban contentos con su comida (en realidad D no pensó mucho en sus algas, pero eso puede haber sido una preferencia personal. ) Probé algunas de sus 'patatas de la abuela' que eran geniales. El alcohol era a un precio razonable y el servicio impecable. ¿Cómo se puede empujar hacia los 100? Tal vez calentar los tazones de servir.

Teníamos una mesa reservada para las 6 pm el sábado. Cuando entramos nos llevaron a la mesa. El agua ya estaba embotellada en la mesa. El personal de espera nos hizo esperar durante 17 minutos para tomar bebidas orden. Pasaba un camarero y decidió dar un paso atrás preguntando a qué estábamos esperando. Empezamos a pedir bebidas y mi esposo pidió una cerveza que no estaba disponible, luego otra que tampoco estaba disponible. En ese momento la camarera ni siquiera se molestó en dar información sobre lo que está disponible. Cuando empezó a tomar pedidos de comida pasó por entrantes y uno de nuestros principales. Entonces ella se alejó y tuvimos que volver a llamarla para pedir el segundo plato principal para nosotros. Hemos pedido una botella de vino que ni siquiera fue abierta por el camarero en la mesa para nosotros y vino vertido en las copas. Para empezar tuvimos albóndigas de pollo y setas nadando en sopa caliente y agria que era muy agradable. Pedí chiles frescos extra que llegaron en pocos segundos. Frito Docenas sucias de albóndigas también fueron sabrosas servidas con una salsa salada en el medio. Main llegó dentro de 10 minutos después de los entrantes, que era encantador. Aunque uno de nosotros obtuvo curso completo donde la otra persona solo arroz y que le digan que el plato de carne está en camino. Tuvimos que cubrir un arroz con un plato lateral para mantenerlo caliente hasta que llegue el segundo principal. Al final solicitamos arroz nuevo que se entregó sin ningún problema. Platos principales era muy sabroso, muy bien condimentado. Al final no estábamos contentos con el cargo por servicio, así que pedimos que se redujera a una cantidad más baja que la factura final que nos dio el propietario Jove. Él estaba feliz de escuchar los comentarios ya que era nuestra primera visita. Era muy amable, hablador y abierto, feliz de hablar. A pesar de las fallas del servicio disfrutamos de la comida que es la más importante y el servicio se puede mejorar fácilmente. Gracias por recibirnos.

Pasé por The Dumpling Tree para escapar de un día frío y lluvioso. Bek detrás de la barra era extremadamente servicial, mostrando habilidades magistrales de cóctel, creando bebidas que se veían tan espectaculares como sabían! Mi favorito era el “Oasis de Jade” a base de tequila y manzana, que se parecía a una manzana verde fresca y crujiente. ¡Mira la foto! La conversación amistosa también hizo la estancia cómoda y agradable. Las albóndigas fritas de cerdo y cebollino también estaban deliciosos!

Llegó alrededor de 2. 50 pm para almorzar con la familia. No es una bienvenida particularmente cálida desde el principio. Las mesas eran desordenadas, y no muchos clientes. Había un niño corriendo gritando, que pertenecía al dueño. los baños eran un estado. Depósitos rebosantes, malos olores. No está nada limpio. Decidí probarlo ya que habíamos leído buenas críticas. Tengo TDAH, mi padre también, solo quería arroz frito con huevo de gamba. Sólo quería arroz frito de cerdo. Tengo una sensibilidad real a las texturas debido a mi condición. Mi madre también tiene intolerancia al sésamo y a los frutos secos que explicamos al principio del pedido. También explicamos que queríamos hacer cambios en el arroz de cerdo y langostino , a lo que nos encontramos con un acuerdo algo despreocupado para conseguir platos modificados, y un intento de venderme la porción más grande que también contenía ingredientes que no quería. Mi padre es pescatario, así que come mariscos, pero no carne. Lleva 8 años sin carne. El suyo vino a la mesa con pollo. Se dio cuenta después de un bocado. Estaba tan molesto que volvió al coche y mi madre y yo nos quedamos. Le compramos la carne a mi papá para que el personal la atendiera. A la camarera que se llevó la comida de vuelta no podía importarle menos que la orden estuviera mal. Mi madre y yo (que es intolerante al sésamo y al cacahuete) contemplamos qué hacer a continuación. Después de la mezcla con mis papás platos y la actitud general del personal no queríamos arriesgarnos a terminar ni mi plato ni el de ella. Es importante tener en cuenta que ninguno de los platos estaba particularmente caliente, ciertamente no recién salido de un wok. Mi madre y yo decidimos no terminar los platos e irnos. El dueño se disculpó (tal vez viendo la discusión que la mala comida había causado con mi familia) Pero no tenía ningún problema para cobrar a pesar de que habíamos dejado la mayoría de la comida. No volveremos.

La comida más deliciosa acompañada de un personal increíble y amable. Los cócteles también eran geniales que recomendaría 100% a cualquiera que quisiera probar!

Came for the quiz. We had the Dirty Dozen twice. One boiled, one fried. Absolutely delicious. I went to their previous location near the leisure park and I'm pleased to see they have a new bigger place. Will be back soon. We won the quiz!

The cost of living crisis has definitely hit this Chinese restaurant. Ordered 12 dumplings which were put in a take away plastic carton, yes all 12. And yes they were tiny, to get 12 in a take away plastic container, I'll give you credit.Even the dip would fit over my thumb, there must have been 20ml for a dozen mini dumplings. These dumplings were poor purely because I have never seen dumplings this small with a 20ml pot. ONE can only wonder why would a restaurant be so petty Still Ive stopped wondering cause I won't be going back, I'll order form a proper Chinese take away in future and not a this restraunt. REMEMBER DUMPLING Tree bad food travels faster than good food 🍲 If your on a diet, this is your place.......

The Dumpling Tree is one of my favourite spots in Cambridge. My friend had the "dirty dozen" mixed meat dumplings with hot and sour soup, and I had the tofu and green bean dumplings, also with hot and sour soup. Everything was delicious! This was my third visit, and it certainly won't be my last.

This restaurant was recommended by locals who live in the area, and it did not disappoint. As a starter, my husband and I ordered the dumplings, and the taste and texture were perfect. For dinner, I particularly loved the eggplant (yum!). My husband enjoyed his charbroiled beef. The flavors of both dishes were exceptional, gourmet quality, so much better than other restaurants of this cuisine. The atmosphere was welcoming and parking easy, even with almost a full house on a Monday night. We made sure we registered our vehicle when we first walked in, which was an easy process. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Cambridge.

Bbq buns could be larger for less money. The value for money is not nearly good. Steamed buns from a market are less then £4 for 5 of them.

as always Dumpling Tree never disappoints. it is a bit pricey .. but ID RATHER EAT here where i know the quality is good. THEY NEVER COMPROMISE.. and you can actually taste that its fresh. unlike other chinese restaurants where almost everything taste the same because they use the same oil. or thst its too greasy. Im asian. So i know when chinese food is GOOD CHINESE FOOD. And Dumpling Tree is worth your money.

I picked up my food maybe five minutes after collection time, and ate if about fifteen minutes later. Maybe it would've been better if eaten immediately after delivery, but still, I was hoping for better. Stale peanut bun, stale bread for bap. Dumplings were all stuck together and OK, but they were not as good as from Zhonghua Traditional Snacks. Pan fried cheese was delicious!

For us this is the best quality Chinese takeaway food, unfortunately it is expensive and only performs delivery on specific days of the week.

That was the best take away I've ever had and I've ordered lots of take aways in different countries. The dumpling tree tops them all! I would gladly order here again soon. :)

Terrible food (soggy fried dumplings, thick wrapping on wonton's, indian-curry like spring rolls... the list just goes on and on), horrible value (very small portions) but good delivery time.

This is among our favourite Chinese restaurant in Cambridge.

Flavours are tasty but meat quality is not great

Everything was absolutely delicious.

The vegetarian Cross the Bridge Rice Noodles has prawns in it and I had an infuriating conversation with someone at the restaurant about how vegetarians actually do eat prawns. They refunded the money for that dish and agreed to change the recipe, but only after I suggested it and we'd had this long, annoying and patronising conversation. In any case, the food was average.

Collection only but still they have priced items on just eat menu bit dearer than on their own take away menu. Not mentioned on just eat menu that the spring rolls are chicken ones and just 4 in number for £3.80. Bit too expensive for take away. Mixed experience. Can't say bad can't say good. Will try again to be sure.

A pretty overpriced dumpling place with quite average food. A minimum order is quite large, the food is cold when it arrives. Also everything but the dumplings are awful!

The chow main, warrior's bap and cucumber salad were nice, but the wonton soup and dumplings were really not to our taste, and we couldn't finish them.

Overpriced and unexciting. The soup was just like water with soy sauce and chillies, had nothing else in it.

We were really happy with our food. A cut above your average chinese takeaway and prices fairly average for a takeaway of that quality.

Tasty dumplings with a good selection. The fried ones were particularly good. Incredibly quick delivery, too.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! The food is so delicious. I've only marked down the takeaway side of things just because I feel a £20+ order shouldn't have a £3 delivery charge lumped on top. But the food is excellent!

It was my first time ordering from this restaurant, the tast of the food was quite disappointing and the price of the food was very expensive and they also charged 3 pounds delivery fee. I have to say I am very disappointed.

Great tasting food. Not your normal Thai/Chinese type of food. The dishes are aromatic, and not simply catered to "the British palette" by stuffing the food with sugars. Only down side would be the maximum order price of £20 - bit over the top when dining in for 1 ! But apart from that delicious.

So happy to have found this place in Cambridge! I've been searching for a real authentic South-West Chinese restaurant for ages and this one definately hits the spot. There are really rarely any restaurants that make Yunnan Style rice noodles in Europe, and to make it so delicious. Lots of different things on the menu to try, but don't worry about ordering something new, every dish I ordered was very tasty.Would be coming back very soon!
