The Dumpling House in Barnet

This is one to avoid! Do not go. First time I went and wanted a takeaway when I received it and looked in the bag and saw how small the portion was I was extremely disappointed. I pointed this out to (presume) the owner who couldn’t have cared less and was rude into the bargain. But now I realise she did me a big favour, I asked for Korean duck with rice, the duck (I think it was duck but couldn’t swear to it?!) was cut into small cubes which had a strange smell and did not taste like duck, this was supposedly one of their specialties. I would not recommend and definitely will not go back.

This restaurant is a real local gem, I can’t believe I’ve lived in this area for 10 years and only just found it. The food is so authentic and the owner is so lovely and kind. Disappointed to see negative reviews from people who ordered online, if you order dumplings online and expect that they’ll be nice by the time you get them then you only have yourself to blame really. Ignore the bad reviews and go and try it for yourself, you won’t regret it. The cucumber salad is sooooooo delicious too!!

Everything was dry like it had been reheated. The dumplings were stodgy and the crispy prawns were fried but cold and wet in the middle. The Korean pancake was burnt. When we called to complain we were told it wasn’t their problem. What a shame, won’t be going back there again!

I agree with the other negative reviews. Surly service. Argumentative when I gently mentioned stringy over cooked chicken. All tasteless. Dumplings stodgy. Restaurant empty which is hardly surprising. Won’t be going back!

I have never eaten food to this poor standard, I had duck and rice, the duck was terrible (that's if it was duck) it had no taste whatsoever, the rice was just tepid, the portions were very small (a mercy in disguise) the service was unprofessional, the guy on the till was holding an endless loud conversation with a woman (all the time I was eating) the "room" I can't call it a restaurant it had about five tables, the "cook" sat on one table joining into the conversation with the noisy woman, in between returning to the kitchen, to check the duck, which was deep fried, on the menu it just said "duck and rice" no mention of incinerating the duck, I would rather eat compressed axle grease, than there "food" I your are ever in the area bring a packed lunch, you will thank me,

I think the restaurant has the capacity to be excellent, but could clearly be a lot better. Korean Style Tofu for £7.50 with about 6 slices of tofu and barely any sauce (was the sauce from Tesco?), without any accompaniment is not dinner or value for money.

Fantastic tiny restaurant with really friendly staff. I love it here , not my first visit. Dumplings are so tasty, chili beef is so flavoursome, kung po chicken divine. So reasonable. Only wine or beer served. So glad i came across it .....

Food is horrible very bad taste chicken is stinky taste. I bought a chicken chow main never ever had that bad food before in my life

Love this place, wether it be for a solo lunch or a dinner with family & friends! Food is always great & Jin the warm welcoming proprietor & Max the ultra cool regular waiter are always up for a nice chat which is particularly nice for me when I’m lunching alone. 5/5 Tres tres tres bien!

This place is a gem! Real authentic Korean and Asian food, home made and served by the owner. Dumplings are amazing and an interesting menu. So refreshing and different from the standard takeaway menu. I love this place!!

One of our very favourite place to eat. Good selection of veggie dishes. Delicious tasty food and very friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back!

The food was so plain and the portions were so small. I ordered duck but it tasted like pork. I couldn't eat it.

We loved this tiny dumpling house. It really is almost a hole in the wall with great home made dumplings and other bits and pieces. Service was great and prices very reasonable. A great spot for a quick meal in the area.

Sorry, but this was not good. The dumplings were heavy and the dough too thick, the meat in the bao buns had gristle in it, and the pork bao was a solid piece of meat like a skinned sausage. We left most of it uneaten

Was called "an idiot" by the owner for leaving a generous 3 star review, considering that the one of the items I ordered was off and had hair on it.

What a great find this little place is! Just collected and devoured a rather large lunch order with the family. Stunning food accurately prepared & handed over by such warm welcoming staff! Gosh! My new favourite eatery!

Fantastic find. Great food and staff. Can’t wait to revisit once the lockdown is over. The dumplings that are made on the premises are fantastic. Chicken teriyaki highly recommend.

This restaurant is amazing - cannot fault anything. The food and service was amazing. If I didnt live in Spain this would definitely be a regular for me. I just wish they could come and open up in Estepona.

Fresh home cooked food of various combinations of Korean, Chinese and Japanese styles. Great people that run this establishment but def book at the weekend or you won't get in.

Enjoyed a casual dinner at the dumpling house. The food is fresh and tastes “clean” ie not full of msg etc. Enjoyed the vegetables, and the dumplings of course. Also had the pancakes which were excellent.
