Hi there , I moved down to London from Scotland and found it really difficult to find a good chinese around finchley, Have just moved to Barnet and glad this place exists , after working for chinese takeaway in Scotland for over 10 years I can say without a doubt this place is the real deal very good food and nice shop too, Chicken Chowmein was very nice reminded me of a fresh dry Chowmein very filling, Kung Po Chicken is different style to an original Kung Po but I love the sauce its excellent how i like it, the veg spring rolls are second to none and the Egg fried rice is clean and fresh without too much soya sauce just the way I like it, portions also very good value reminds me of Scottish portion sizes 😂👌

Got a take away last Saturday after a hospital visit. Best Chinese I’ve had for ages quality good. I will drive there in future to get a take away even though I’m not local.

Special fried rice a ball of mush. No taste no flavour and inedible, rice was marsmallow consistency, get a new chef if you can't cook rice properly

This is a takeaway service. Used them for years. Rung to place an order, said hi they know who I am….. their first answer was yep yep yep…..🤬🤬🤬🤬 as in what do you want didn’t even say hi! I put the phone down and won’t order again. Shame because the food is good

Usually we really like loon wah, but I think the quality is decreasing a bit, the previous time we went several of the dishes were fine but not excellent, and this time the satay sauce we got (which is my favourite thing and the main reason we were getting Chinese!) was very watery and lacking in flavour. The prices have also gone up quite a bit - two chow mein, 1 main dish, and satay sauce on the side was £24. The chow mein were really excellent hence not giving a lower review. Would recommend the chow mein but definitely not the satay sauce.

New to the area, I always order a Chinese about 3 times a week. I'm quite fussy, as I don't like MSG. This was the best meal I have had in a long time. The quality was like being served in a top restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Favourite local Chinese for takeaway , never dissapointed.

I've been a patron of this establishment for a few years. it always used to be consistently good. But purchased a meal for the family yesterday and it seems to have gone downhill. Egg fried rice was soggy and crushed up like they had used broken rice. Sweet and sour sauce was tasteless as was the bbq spare ribs. The stir fry mixed veg was not seasoned at all. What has happened to this place it always used to be so good, has it changed hands?

Honestly the best Chinese we’ve had! We have take away every week and it’s always amazing ! One of the best we’ve genuinely had. And in the area as we tried a few before we found this. Always super fast delivery also. Thanks. Drake house

Food was spot on will be going back, missed an item but food made up for it

Sadly, after YEARS of loyal patronage, I was very disappointed by my takeaway. It really didn't taste the same - I usually order the same each time, as I did this time, but something has gone wrong. I don't know if the Chef has changed or the cooking oils etc have been compromised, but I really wasn't happy with my food. It's such a shame as they used to be the BEST in the area. Too much money to waste, by not being happy, so I'm very cautious about returning. We'll see.

Ordered take away recently from Loon Wah for my family and I. The food came just before the ETA that was mentioned on the phone, no complaints here for a Saturday evening. Food came hot and tasty, and wasn't like our past experiences elsewhere. We will definitely continue ordering Chinese from here going forward. I can see some reviewers mentioning about the pricing, to be honest in today's climate, it's money well spent for a takeaway. It's not like it's restaurant prices or anything.

I went to order some food from this take away for the first time it was so amazing very enjoyable worth the money I spent. The food was worth the wait. I will definitely be ordering food for the future and recommending it to my friends. I would recommend the homemade dumplings it was so delicious.

I went to loon wah and ordered food for me and my family. The food was amazing, customer service was good. Although, the wait was long it was worth the wait and I will definitely be going back. I will also be recommending to my family and friends.I would recommend the Singapore noodles,homemade dumplings,chicken balls and egg fried rice I ordered 1 portion for my 2kids and there was left over for me to have some.

Food is consistently good, in particular the Singapore noodles. Portions are generous and well spiced with good sauce. The variety of food is suitable for all, including vegetarians and children. We collected our order and it was clear that food is being prepared freshly and there were lots of orders.

Has it changed hands or chefs ?? Have always used it as it was consistently good and fairly priced . Had a takeaway this week and prices had gone up by a lot , portions were far less generous and king prawns were small and tasteless . Prawn balls were over cooked and virtually inedible . What has happened to go from great to pretty awful ??

Used this place couple times and it’s not very good Chinese take away according to my experience so the food was not tasty and the portions are small and it’s over priced too. Also the lady there taking orders is very grumpy and rude, she doesn’t give you a good customer service in fact she is like doing you a favour or like giving you a free food the way she taking orders or giving you the food. So will not go there again or recommended this place to anyone.

Was quoted 1 hour wait time waited 2 hours for food. Food taste nice but over priced now and wait times often longer than quoted.

I ordered food for 3 people it came to £43 which was too expensive for the quality we received. There was hardly any egg in the egg fried rice. The prawn balls were hard as anything even my cat had trouble chewing it! The food was extremely salty and it made us feel sick! This is a sure fire way to catch diabetes and raise your cholesterol. Not enjoyable one bit. They also brought us sweet chilli sauce instead of chilli oil and the woman tried to tell me next time I order she will give it and I said no I have to insist that you bring it now. So overall bad food and bad customer service too. If I could give 0 stars I would.

The best Chinese takeaway ever. Never had a bad meal. Always hot food. Friendly staff. I won't go anywhere else. The portions are good and the quality of the food is superb.

The quality of the food has gone right down the hill. I have used them for many years, previously found a metal piece in my meal in 2015. However now the chicken in my meal had fatty off cut pieces. This hasn't happened before and I will not use them in the future.

Firstly can I say the price is amazing! The two times I've been the meals were exactly the same in quality and quantity. The only dish I was disappointed on both occasions were the noodles, as they were over cooked. However the flavour and the prawns with it was spot on. Luckily we bought rice as well. Meat and the flavours are really good value. If I keep going back, that means on the third visit the noodles were not overcooked or I just never ordered the noodles again lol. All in all I'm very happy as I travelled from Finchley so I must be content! ❤️‍

Ordered & delivered within 25 minutes, cartons in a clean cardboard box, by a smartly dressed, charming man. All excellent quality, beautifully presented. Try the stir fry Chinese vegetables - and the veg spring rolls - only fresh veg used, colourful & tasty. Mouth-wateringly good! And the king prawns in noodles! Very happy to recommend this takeaway.

We ordered crispy aromatic duck( absolutely fantastic). Sweet and sour chicken ( beautiful) chicken chow mein( also lovely). ReReWoulrerehighrecommends this

Don’t think about it just go!! I’ve been using this Chinese for over 10 years now and will continue to do so, fresh, hot, delicious food every time! I don't bother writing reviews normally however felt it important here. We have experienced many Chinese takeaways whilst living in London and can honestly say the quality of food is OUTSTANDING. We are lucky to live in Arkley so its on our doorstep. Yes its true that at times they are very busy taking orders but that's understandable. The food arrives piping hot and its just delicious. Not one bad experience ever and we order often. You won't be disappointed.

Very disappointed with the service tonight when I ordered my meal the guy read it back to me to make sure it was correct and when it was delivered there was one meal missing. So one person in the family didn’t get their meal when I phoned them I understand that busy but When you call they always should say wait why they serve another customer, that took a good five minutes for them to get through to me and then trying to get them understand that he’d missed a meal off he went back to check the order and said the additional meal wasn’t on the order, I explain to him that he read the order back to me so how can it now not be on there, I gave up in the end It was like talking to a brick wall not sure I’ll bother with them again

No matter if pick up or delivery the staff are always fast friendly and efficient. Never had a bad experience or takeaway from Loon Wah. The whole family use them, Highly recommended.

Except for the communication problem when you placed orders on the phone, everything else is lovely about Loon Wah. Foods are tasty and well cooked. Yes, it's a bit pricey but it tasted much better than the rest of Chinese Take Away in Barnet. Delivery is speedy too!

Lived here for over 10 yrs and a lover of Chinese food but never tried this place despite good recommendations as didn’t think it delivered. It does! Yay! Had it for the first time for my birthday meal last Saturday. Really friendly on the phone, plus they were honest about an hour and a half wait which was fine. Delivery was attempted in time but despite us living above a big pub the driver got lost and ended up somewhere else in Barnet! I spoke to him for ages trying to direct him to us but this was hard as he couldn’t explain to me where he was! Anyway eventually he got here... we took our food upstairs and discovered he had given us someone else’s order! I called him back and he came back to the pub again and swapped orders. (This worried me slightly as not just because it’s now luke warm but we have just gone into Tier 4 so how many people have touched my food!!) (To top it all off, my microwave stopped working at exactly this time so I couldn’t heat it up! Fine old birthday this is turning out to be!!) So... we had our luke warm Chinese which I’ve got to say... was absolutely delicious! We will defo order from there again. Fingers crossed... a smoother experience next time!

Be advised when calling this takeaway at busy periods instead of answering the phone and telling you they cant deliver they take the phone of the hook,letting you call time and time again. It's a very arrogant way to conduct their business, but alas that's the way they choose to be

The best Chinese food ever. I moved from Barnet but still travel to get my food from here every so often. Flavour some food and not greasy never had a bad meal from them, the owner is lovely too.

I have been using Loon Wah for a few years now and they offer good value Chinese. I have tried others in Barnet but always return. Salt and pepper chicken and Singapore noodles a favourite of mine.

I was glad to discover they had recently re-opened for take away following the covid lockdown. However, I was absolutely disappointed, the rice was stale wasn’t freshly cooked, the beef in black bean sauce wasn’t fresh. I won’t be patronising this Restuarant in the future for take away. The covid lockdown should have been an opportunity to serve fresh food and improve customer base but unfortunately they seem to be cutting corners.

I'm really fussy with Chinese takeaway. We have tried all the Chinese takeaway around New Barnet, and I'm so happy we found Loon Wah, the best Chinese takeaway in Barnet and they served large portions which is a plus to me, we will definitely order again.

Lovely food always fresh and great portions

We live in Cockfosters which is sadly too far for Loon Wah to come out to. So we phone our order, leave it 5 minutes or so and then battle our way up Barnet Hill and then along Wood Street to collect. The food is consistently good whatever the choice, although we usually have set meals A & B which combine a good cross-section of their offerings.

Lovely food, probably my favourite but you spend 30-40 minutes trying to get through to make the order. Been in the shop and they leave the phone off the hook. It is a shame, I know they are busy but would be helpful if they had someone answering the phone and someone serving the customers in shop. They make enough to have someone extra. Bit of a let down. End up standing in the shop for half an hour waiting for the food to be cooked so an hour and ten minutes later I might have the delicious food I want. Such a shame.

If you call the this business when it's opening time and the call goes unanswered its because they are intentionally ignoring your call. When they receive too many orders instead of informing you by message or other means they just let you waste your time calling to no avail. The arrogance of this is breathtaking

What’s happened? This place used to be great?’ Nowadays the food is so different, It used to be good but lots of cost cutting and cheap alternatives being sent out. I used to order once a week, my flats mates also ordered a different night so twice a week we ordered food from here - but we won’t anymore. It’s gone downhill massively. They hate taking card payments (tax man I presume?) and always tell me to walk to the nearest cash machine. Erm No?’ Char Sui Pork is so dry, I think it’s mate the microwave got trigger happy. Sweet & sour chicken is full of fat / batter. I’m not sure if a chicken was ever was involved in the dish. I wish I could upload a photo because it would put you off!!! Anyhow I’d you want standard basic Chinese food and reasonable prices then come here.bur if you want anything with flavour is recommend anywhere but here. Sorry!

This is the BEST Chinese Takeaway food you will get, for MILES in any direction. Prawn Toast is the best in the world. Excellent food , price and delivery time too. You will never be disappointed. YUM

Ordered 3 items, told it would take 20 mins, in the end l was there 50 mins. Watched others order & collect. Got home with food, live 2 mins away, cold food of poor quality. Phoned take away spoke to Ben who said he was the Manager who was totally uninterested in my comments! Shame because you have had good reviews in the past!

Food is great..can’t fault it. But on 3 occasions I have tried to ring for a delivery and phone has been constantly engaged for 30 minutes. I turn up only to find their phone off the hook. When you question them about it they don’t give a damn 🤦🏽‍♂️
