What can I say? This establishment delivers in every category. My family have been customers for over 20 years. Ken and his team are superb hosts and we always feel very well looked after.

We have been coming to the Good Earth for special family occasions for more years than I would like to admit! Their service, ambiance and food is always wonderful. Yesterday they outdid themselves with such amazing service and made a loved one’s birthday extra special with a surprise desert, candle and good wishes. Your team made a special birthday an extra memorable one!! Thank you to your team We look forward to seeing you again soon

I've passed this place many times so thought I'd give it a go. It's medicore for the prices charged per dish but lovely inside with good staff.

Amazing restaurant. Fantastic food

Nice enough people but felt very rushed. Spent around £180 for 4 people. A soup each and a main each + 3 cokes and a beer. Food was dire especially for the price, portions appalling. Bland and rather tasteless, had to ask for salt which is unusual for Chinese food as normally it is full of flavour. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't return.

Over priced, under portioned, bland food. Tastiest thing was plum sauce dip served with prawn crackers. Was better 5 years ago when I used it fairly regularly. Would not reccomend it

Visited for a birthday and, as ever, food and service were excellent.

Pleasant venue, excellent service, and many tasty items. We had a very good time, in including our six-year-old grandson.

I found the food takeaway standards. The wine was over priced. They keep trying to remove over plates I think they wanted go home.What a let down thank you for the experience.

We'd been many years ago and thought it was overpriced with small to average portion size. We thought we'd try it again to see if things had changed as it was my wife's birthday. We were warmly welcomed and the ambiance was good but the main thing, the food was overpriced, tasteless and bland. A disappointing evening. Sad to say I won't be going back or recommending it to others.

Stupendous overpricing. £40 for half a crispy duck, £25 for crispy beef. £11.80 for rice with diced standard veg. Food was average. Meat was wrapped in something soft and doughy. Average service and 13% service charge. Not 12.5% , let’s round it UP !

Top quality restaurant with plenty of available on street parking. The welcome was warm, staff friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Then there was the food. It was about as good as it gets. Portion sizes were generous and flavours exceptional. Not the cheapest restaurant by any standards, but as they say, you get what you pay for and we certainly got it. We will definitely be back.

This place has improved so much in the last couple of years - great food, great service, great atmosphere - none of it could be faulted!

Unfortunately, the food is grossly overpriced- our bill was £ 114 for two for one starter (the other starter never arrived), two mains, two rice, and one vegetable side-dish, a coke, a small beer, and a coffee Nothing justified that price In addition, the tables are far too close to each other.

On Tuesday, Ma Po Tofu , Aubergine in spring onion and the Crispy fried noodles with Vegetable - all very tasteless. An unfortunate meal. Contrary to a few weeks ago on a Saturday when everything was delicious. Do they have different chefs on different days??

Visited this restaurant for my birthday. The food was so good, I only had time to take 1 picture, lol! Although very pricey you can see why when you eat the food. The staff were very helpful with one of our guests who had a nut allergy. Will definitely be going back and can highly recommend this restaurant

Probably one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants I have ever been too in the UK. Food tasted amazing, so fresh. The fillet steak was outstanding!!!

The customer service was great as usual. The food was lovely, especially the clay pot beef. However, I would avoid the set menu as it's not value for money. You are better off ordering separately. For example, you still get one normal portion of all mains regardless if it's three people utilising the set menu. Also, if you ordered the starters separately you get more. With the set menu, you get a single piece each. Three of us dined and ordered the set menu for £60 each. It would have been cost-effective to order individually. Apart from that we had a lovely meal.

Underwhelmed, the food was okay/average but unfortunately came out lukewarm. The service was very attentive and the food came out within minutes of ordering which was good and bad. Good for not having to wait but bad knowing that it wasn’t freshly prepared. The portion sizes were VERY small, we left the restaurant still feeling hungry and for the price I could have ordered 2-3 lots of each dish at a different restaurant. The atmosphere was unpleasant, the restaurant was very very hot, probably because of the amount of people they have squeezed into a small space. I wouldn’t recommend unless you’ve won the lottery and don’t mind lukewarm food and being extremely close to strangers.

The food is always excellent, the best Chinese , clean tasting , full of flavours , exceptional on every level , the staff are awesome always tentative , we come now at least one a month & it is always exceptional!!

Hadn't been to The Good Earth in Mill Hill since pre pandemic, but it hasn't changed and the food and service was as good as ever. One waitress even remembered me from over 4 years ago. Excellent service and management. Can't wait to return.

Portions tiny. Cost per main dish extra large at £24.40! Greeting not the best and staff trained to work fast but are helpful. Bearing in mind they must try to seat two sittings in the evening. Carpets could do with being replaced especially on the stairs going up to the toilets as coming away. We never did our research because, Chinese restaurants have disappeared for some strange reason over the years, and we thought we must go there one time, yesterday was that time and that will also be our last time. Sure place is always busy but if you live locally I guess you can afford to pay those prices. No excuse on this planet will convince me why the prices are that high.

As always, the food and service at The Good Earth in Mill Hill was outstanding. It's more expensive than a standard Chinese restaurant, but it's worth it! We have been there three times now, and there is always a lively atmosphere. I would recommend the set menu.

Having been to the good earth a few times over the last 6 years on my last visit late on a Saturday for a birthday meal it will probably be my last. Now the restaurant is sat very near a main thoroughfare which it takes advantage of booking is required as its always fairly busy but I cannot fathom why it is still so popular. Let’s start with the meals. The menu is limited and the recent prices rises have mains at £24 and a basic egg fried rice at £8.80! Now the food is ok but I wouldn’t call it a la carte. Essentially its Chinese takeaway served nicely on plates! You are simply paying the privilege of eating at a table. Let’s look at the service. Greeted well at the door but after that is pretty much when the pleasantries ended. After being given our menus no less than three wait staff asked to take drinks orders. Do they not have a section of tables to look after? Then the food order was taken. Usually Prawn Crackers are delivered with your drinks but not this time, we had our starters and had to ask for prawn crackers. As soon as the starters had been delivered a small plate of hot towels were literally thrown onto the table. By the time we needed the hot towels they had become cold wet rolled towels. They used to offer proper face towels but have now gone with the disposable style. So the duck. Lovely duck again no more than standard takeaway food and once again after the duck was shredded we took a bite of our first pancake and the hot towels ceremoniously landed on the table - by now I was starting to wonder if we had offended someone and started to feel like I was being given the Bums rush! With the duck completed we waited for our mains and waited and waited then our mains come out with our final dish arriving around five minutes later. Oh and there are the hot towels again!! The desert menu is not worth it in my opinion battered apple or banana, lychees or ice cream is essentially all thats on offer. The bill for four people with a round of Sake some alcohol and soft drinks and the food comes to just under £300!! This is insane for just four people. That includes the 13% service charge and you are still prompted to leave a tip when presented with the card machine!! If youve got more money than sense knock yourself out.

We are massively disappointed and I personally won’t be going back and spending my own money. I understand prices have risen, they may be trying to cover more tables, and they may be more under pressure but they’re losing lifelong customers.

Quality straight away when you enter the restaurant, great manager & staff that makes you feel very welcome. Food is fresh & delicious! Will be back soon again!

Smaller portions Higher cost But the food quality and service remains good

The cuisine here is excellent. It’s clear they use the best ingredients for their dishes - even their Hoisin Sauce and Chilli Oil are better than any other Chinese restaurant we’ve dined at and that’s a few!! The staff are well motivated, kind and are smiling attentively. They are genuinely concerned about your dining experience and perform to ensure you thoroughly enjoy it. We have been going here on and off for over 40 years and in that time the owners have maintained the standards to a high level. We have yet to be disappointed. We would strongly recommend this Chinese restaurant. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the best!!

Go to this restaurant every few months and rarely disappointed with any course. Good service although 13% charge is excessive. Prices creeping up for food . We had 2 courses ( aromatic duck and lamb) and a coffee each which cost over £40 per head .

Been going here for years - its consistently been serving excellent Chinese dishes with service from a warm friendly team of waiting staff. It’s a bit pricey - we paid over £60 per head and it’s been that way every time we visit so if you are not on a budget it’s the place to go for this cuisine!

I have been here before a long time ago and always had a good experience. We went last week and I nearly fell off my chair when I read the menu and saw the prices. Soups were £10.80 and mains , such as sweet and sour chicken were £24, plus service charge. The food and service were fine but in the end I would guess we ordered less or had less variety than I might usually have. Whilst the food was good it was not any different to any good Chinese. Even top places like Phoenix Palace are lower priced , and more like £15 -£17 for a main dish. It was busy which is a good sign. Just a shame it was so expensive. 4.5 stars but I’d give it 3.5 for the high prices.

The Good Earth never fails. It's always good to go back. We travel an hour to get there so its worth the journey.

Food was served in good time and all very delicious. Waitress/waiters very friendly and polite. Atmosphere was great and altogether worth every penny spent.

I was really disappointed with this Chinese restaurant. My chicken chow mein was a letdown. The pieces of chicken were so tiny, I could hardly even taste them. Not what I expected at all. On top of that, their prices were incredibly high for what they served. Definitely not worth it.

Amazing😁It’s the first time we had ever been there and we had a fantastic time. It was our daughters 21st birthday. The food was outstanding just like the service we received. We can highly recommend this restaurant as there was a very good choice of food and will definitely be visiting again sooner rather than later. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The only issue need to be aware is that the portion of the dishes is quite small.

Very disappointing. Went there years ago so decided to visit this high-end Chinese restaurant for our wedding anniversary. Very different - very bright lights, too many tables packed into a smallish area - no ambience. Hubby and I couldn’t hear each other across the table as it was so noisy. Service and food was good but at £141 for a meal for 2 it should be. Won’t be going back.

In my opinion is overpriced in relation to portions. I also noticed that the chairs were extremely uncomfortable for people over 6.2ft and also people who are small

We go all the time, last time we felt rushed and considered going back so we did last night . Unfortunately last night was ruined and literally we had 4 courses in less than 1hour 30 mins, when it’s that quick unfortunately you feel sick and it’s really put me off going again. When spending that much you do not not want to feel rushed. Whilst the service was good feeling rushed completely ruined it . It used to be relaxed and so lovely, not sure why it’s felt so different the last few times. Gutted as was the best Chinese by far in the area, each course was out within 10 mins, how fresh can this be?! I got asked three times if I was ready to order main, our plates were cleaned literally as we were finishing. We all felt uncomfortable and it was made clear out table was needed back. We heard other people saying the same thing, it’s unpleasant to be served that quickly and completely unenjoyable . When spending £200+ taking my family out I don’t want to feel rushed and uncomfortable.

My wife and I wanted a tasty but quick lunch on Wednesday and decided to go to the Good Earth, a place that we had visited a number of times and liked. I had looked at the menu and prices before booking and was taken back by the prices for the main courses - almost all in excess of £20. Expecting to get high quality food for that price and only wanting starters and a shared main we decided to go for it. I should add that the other semi-local quality Chinese restaurant that we use (in Swiss Cottage) charges almost half the GE's prices but, sadly does not open for lunch on that day. Our meal choice was a simple one. My wife chose spring rolls and my choice was crab and sweet corn soup. We shared a plate of sweet and sour chicken and one of noodles. The starters arrived quickly and these were ordinary. The spring rolls had little taste and were overcooked and the soup was bland, lacked seasoning and rather tasteless. At the price (£10.8) I expected to receive more than a few shreds of crab. Then on to the main course. The sweet and sour chicken had the unsubtle taste that I would expect from a high street Chinese restaurant, sharp and rather unpleasant and certainly not worth £23.80. The "fresh fruits" comprised a couple of chunks of a rather tasteless fruit that we could not identify. The noodles had an unpleasant taste and poor value at £9.80. The unsatisfactory meal cost us £63.00 and we decided that while prices had been increased significantly at the restaurant, quality and value had certainly gone down. Very disappointing. Service was very good and speedy (only one other table was taken) and the staff was extremely helpful to my wife who is disabled and had difficulty getting over the three steps at the entrance - other restaurants we have used provide ramps in these circumstances.

Best Chinese with the nicest staff, way better than China Tang

It felt like everyone was having a birthday. Which shows what a special place it is.
