What a super village pub. Lovely location on the village green. Garden to the rear. Separate restaurant. Spotlessly clean, good ambience. I had the giant gammon steak with chips, pineapple, fried egg, large flat mushroom, onion ring, grilled tomato and salad, at £15.95 - it was giant, but also very high quality and cooked nicely. Wife had a pannini with cod goujons and salad, at £9.95 she enjoyed it. The three staff on duty were friendly and helpful. Five real ale pumps were in use. If only all village pubs could be as good as this.

A big menu plus lots of dishes on their ‘specials’ board (probably too many). My friend had gammon, egg and chips which bizarrely came with coleslaw and salad. The chips were great but the ham not so good (a slice of cooked gammon that had been pan fried) and the egg was quite well done. I had lasagne with garlic bread and again a small salad. The lasagne was probably as bad as any I’ve had. No clear layers, no discernible bechamel and hardly any meat. Looked like they used ready made bolognese sauce and the whole thing had been microwaved. No baked top just stringy melted cheese. The garlic bread was a bread bun that had been halved and had a strange cheese blob on top of each half. Nothing on the menu suggested fresh cooking from scratch (apart perhaps from steak). Friendly staff but an experience never to be repeated.

Fabulous place; always a warm welcome. Father in law is a regular visitor with his friends and since he introduced us to the pub a year ago, we've been back several times for lunch. Both bar and restaurant have a lovely atmosphere, food choices are great whether you pick from the main or specials and the desserts are simply to die for!! Great service from the staff :)

Went for a carvery having won a voucher on a raffle for 2 people. We brought some friends so there were 5 of us in total. Found the staff very welcoming. The carvery was delicious. Meat was very generous, and everything was hot and tasty. Price wise it was excellent value too. We would definitely go back. It was busy and I would recommend booking in advance!

Stopped in Woodford for a wander and drink. The Dukes looked interesting, and had parking so an easy pick! An intimate music festival that they apparently hold annually was underway. It looked like it was going to be a good weekend. The only downside was wine in plastic glasses.

A group of senior citizens who lunch out together visited this pub to enjoy their Christmas menu yesterday.m my wife and I had the traditional Christmas turkey and all the trimmings and it was excellent, my slight criticism is that it was covered in gravy and it would have been better to have it served separately to allow people to choose the amount they have. The service was excellent and the meal was good value.

Our first visit to this community pub was hugely enjoyable. It's a free house with a great selection of draught beers and a selection of main dishes for £8.50 at lunchtime. A group of us, mainly senior citizens, visited this pub to take advantage of there meal offers which consists of a good number of main courses for £8.50. I chose the ' roast of the day ' which happened to be turkey breast with roast and creamed potato, and mixed vegetables and this was excellent. I’d you’re into music, they have events going on regularly Service is second to none and the staff are friendly and efficient . Food and drinks prices are totally affordable and considering the quality of food it’s also surprisingly good value. Location is excellent and parking is no problem whatsoever. If the car park’s full there’s plenty of safe on-road parking outside as the village is quiet. Can’t recommend this place enough.

There is a good range of beers including some that are brewed in the village. The menu is very comprehensive even at lunch time and there seem to be something special every evening.....fish and chips on a Thursday, steak on another night etc and aSunday roast too.We chose a chicken curry and a fish pie. The food was nicely presented and certainly tasty. However, there wasn’t a great deal of fish in the pie but plenty of mashed potato and the chicken in the curry was a bit chewy.Enjoyed the experience so would go again if we were in the area. Asked for a table in the restaurant, no problem, until we get there and find out we are the only 2 people in there, on a Friday night. Ordered the sirloin streak and the scampi. Gandhi's flip flop would have been more tender than the steak. The chips were obviously fried in dirty and not nearly hot enough oil, and defo not hand cut. The Dukes is our local and we love it. Don't think bistro with Farrow and Ball greys and soft blues; this is a full on assault of all the senses. It's a proper pub with as many as eight real ales on the pumps. It's often busy. The decor is not what you might want at home, but that's what makes it quirky and loveable. If I say more it would spoil the surprise. The staff are splendid; the food is honest pub food and there's lots of it. We particularly recommend the Sunday Carvery, the Tuesday Carvery (currently at £6 a head) and pie night on Wednesdays (also £6 per head). Chips and peas and gravy. What's not to like?

Been several times and enjoyed every visit. The place has a sense of "reality" about it without pretentiousness. It does remind me of my younger days when village pubs felt welcoming and had character, somewhere to go and be comfortable and at home.I really like The Dukes, as I believe it is now called.Staff try hard to accommodate our needs, they are friendly and communicative. The food is good, and interesting."Dogs dinner" served in an earthenware, dog bowl, is a challenge on the stomach, regarding the amount. It is delicious and worth starving yourself for just to experience being a "mutt" for the duration of this eating adventure. If you like smaller portions, ask for the "pups" version,I'm sure you won't be disappointed.Prices for lunchtime specials are £6:00 and choice varied. I am really enamoured with this venue and hope to make it one of my favourite hostelries because, in my experience decent pubs of this calibre are becoming scarcer on a daily basis. The Duke deserves to succeed and be patronised.Do yourself a favour and give it a try, its certainly worth it!

I used to live in this village about 30 years ago and returned recently with friends to sample the delights of this pub. Run by a "Geordie" for the last 15 years, there is ample evidence to see where he hailed from. But he and his staff made us very welcome and you can see why he has made his pub the centre of the village community and why it was named "Rural pub of the year in 2014". A very good lunch time menu with all priced at £6 Mondays to Fridays and not much dearer in the evening. Weekends may be different as you have to book. Two of us tried the "dogs dinner" which was served up in a dogs bowl and we were told it was delicious. Others tried other dishes and they were also tasty and well presented. The pie was delicious so were the meats. A good choice of potatoes and cauliflower cheese, carrots & peas. All exception value for £6 a head. The gravy was really good and a large selection of sauces too. There is a good selection of puddings priced at £4.95, ok a bit steep but delicious all the same. The staff are all friendly and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. This is an inviting pub for everyone, great facilities including their function room, games room, good sized garden and swings etc for children as well as a cosy smokers area with roaring fire and sofas. (An area thats tempting for even non-smokers like myself to sit in) Overall a characteristic village pub which seems inviting for many people which is probably where the lovely atmosphere comes from.

Have visited the Duke on several occasions and have never been let down. The food is 'homely' and I would certainly recommend the 'Dogs Dinner' which is actually served in a ceramic dogs bowl. Other food on the menu is also of good quality. We often go as a family with several small children. The staff are always friendly and accommodate all the children's needs. Lots of quirky little attractions in the garden that the children love to explore. Regulars at the pub always take time to chat to the children and we have never been made to feel uncomfortable with the children walking about the pub. Well behaved dogs also allowed in the pub. If you're not looking for a 'jus' with your dinner or a balsamic dressing then take the time to step back in time and visit a pub that truly deserves to be called a family pub. Outside smoking areas around open fireplaces with armchairs for your comfort. Smokers are all to easily made to stand outside in all weathers with no adequate seating area. Fine also if your a non smoker, just sit out by the fire with friends, a pint and enjoy the atmosphere.

We went to The Dukes Arms after taking in a Peterborough United Football match. The atmosphere was good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were served very good food in a timely manner. This pub is actually located in Woodford and not Kettering, but Kettering is pretty close. I definitely recommend a visit to this pub if you have a chance.

Amazing little pub!! Incredible garden, has a play area, aviary, open fires, stage, and inside is a quant little restaurant serving lovely home cooked food, whilst there I noticed they also do music festivals all in aid of cransley hospice!! Best pub around, lots of good beer, friendly staff and just a general good atmosphere

Most probably the best food I’ve ever had. If you are looking for a cosy pub with great food next to an open fire then you have found it. Make sure you book though as it gets very busy. Ask for Jamie and say jack sent you.

An excellent choice for lunch. Very knowledgeable, efficient and personable staff. Why go anywhere else in this vicinity.

Seeing as my review was removed I will try again! Stay away. I went to the so called “quiz night” and it was awful. You would have found a better atmosphere in a morgue. Hardly any there, no music, vile smell and it was dirty. I use to frequent the pub before lockdown and it was fantastic. It has apparently changed hands since and not for the better. I will definitely not be going back. The smell and filth were enough to put me off my beer let alone dreary feel to the place. Very sad to say that I will not be recommending a once lovely pub

We were staying down the road at the Queens head, walked down the village and popped in here for a drink, what a great friendly little pub, Brian the landlord and his mum Linda, made us very welcome, we felt like part of the local community, we enjoyed so much we went back several times during our 2 night stay, and much preferred it to the Queens head. Thank you Brian and Linda for you hospitality. Julie G Shepperton.

Bought a flat white, usually £3.50 but they charged me £4.10!!! I checked the price and they said the reason for this was for my oat milk. So I paid 0.70p just for having oat milk. Outrageous.
