Jamaica Blue in East Northamptonshire

Bought a flat white, usually £3.50 but they charged me £4.10!!! I checked the price and they said the reason for this was for my oat milk. So I paid 0.70p just for having oat milk. Outrageous.

We waited a bit of time for pancakes and a cinnamon swirl.

Really nice place to get a coffee. The staff have clearly been trained well on how to make a decent coffee. A high standard. The staff are friendly as well and there's plenty of seating. There's not much room to move inside at the till if there's a que inside, but it's worth it for the coffee. 10/10

Really good service, really good coffee and really nice food. I like the way they give you a table number and rather than having to stand around and wait for your toastie to be ready (like most chain coffee shops) you can sit down and relax. No wonder it was so busy.

The food here was delicious. The staff were super helpful and very nice. Hugely accommodating to our sons allergies.

After choosing our food, we placed our order. However, we ended up waiting over an hour and fifteen minutes for the food to arrive! There was a clear lack of care from the chefs in the back, who spent most of the time standing around, joking, and laughing. Hot food was left under the heat lamp for up to ten minutes, waiting for other dishes to be prepared. My partner’s chicken Caesar salad arrived after an hour, while I continued to wait for my panini. I was told it would be another five minutes, but those five minutes came and went – and then another five minutes passed. When my panini finally arrived, the waitress slammed it down without a word of apology. There was no offer of additional drinks, no acknowledgment of the fact we had to eat separately, and a complete lack of customer care throughout. As for the food quality, it was mediocre at best. My partner’s poached egg, having sat under the heat lamp, had essentially turned into a hard-boiled egg. The overall lack of flavour and poor presentation reflected the indifferent atmosphere in the café. I would strongly advise choosing another place to eat when visiting Rushden Lakes. There are far better options where your money will be better spent.

Stopped for lunch. Chai latte was delish and had a light lunch of tomato mozzarella . Partner had the goats cheese abs really enjoyed. The best bit was friendly staff and great service.

Terrible breakfast, opted for the scrambled egg and have never seen scrambled eggs cooked so badly. Dry and almost crispy. Sent back and when the new breakfast arrived they were probably worse than the eggs I had previously complained about. Got a refund and will not return.

Nice place, excellent coffee and good fresh food. Let down by poor service. I don't think I've known a cafe where the dirty plates aren't cleared when your food is served. I can see four uncleared tables, it's not busy and there are plenty of staff.

I’m not sure if there has been a change in management, but this establishment has noticeably declined in quality since my regular visits several months ago. Over the past few weeks, I’ve visited three times. On my first visit, I ordered a flat white and a sausage and egg breakfast roll. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The male staff member seemed untrained, offering no interaction beyond telling me the cost. When my coffee was served, I had to return it because it was overly milky and lacked froth. The food was also below standard. The egg was burnt on the bottom and excessively greasy, which didn’t feel fresh or worth the price. Although I was disappointed, I didn’t say anything at the time because it had taken too long and I had other commitments. On a positive note, the female front-of-house staff was polite, responsive, and seemed somewhat embarrassed about the quality of the food and drink. I decided to give the place a second chance, as I understand everyone can have an off day. This time, the female staff member greeted me warmly and took my order properly. The coffee was great, but unfortunately, the food still didn’t meet expectations for the price. I couldn’t help but notice the kitchen staff seemed uncoordinated, which made me wonder if they are undertrained. On my final visit, I only ordered coffee, which was once again prepared perfectly by a different female staff member. However, I opted not to order food after seeing the same kitchen staff, now joined by another individual whose appearance raised concerns about hygiene. In an open kitchen, maintaining high cleanliness standards is crucial. Lastly, I noticed the door poses a safety risk as it shuts quickly and jams, which was an issue on all three of my visits. Regrettably, I won’t be returning.

Lovely staff, food not quite as advertised but ok. Lemon muffin was not good, should but a light cake and this was heavy and dry - would be unedible without a drink to hand. Pizza dish was OK but lacking in topping. We will be back - no

Where is the Jamaican food? Greasy spoon breakfasts and Korean BBQ burgers. Very disappointing menu.

Coffee is ok hut service really poor. A 25 minute wait just for a coffee is not good enough.Also, an extra 60p for a bit of soya milk is out of order not fair for those with allergies and intolerances. Some coffee shops don't charge any extra.

Visited today for the first time, excited to finally find a place that specialises in Jamaican blue mountain coffee, having not had it since i was 21 and actually up in the blue mountains whilst on holiday in Jamaica. The member of staff behind the till was very polite and friendly, order taken,sat outside, and it came out fairly promptly. Same guy who took my order was very attentive and asked if I wanted sugar and came back with a pot of various sugar types. Great coffee (large latte), took me right back to that family holiday. Good price i thought considering a friend of mine paid equal price in a Costa for a small latte !. Will be returning as a cheeky treat now and again. Food in the cabinet did look nice too but didn't try it on this occasion.

Situated at rushen lakes, parking is free for up to 5 hours. Disabled access available. Toilet inside. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Nice view over the lake. Here you can not only get coffees, but cakes, savoury and even a full English breakfast ! Service was fast and efficient. Free water drinking station too. I cannot fault this place and it was a pleasure to visit.

One of the first customers there just after opening. Ordered the big breakfast. Poached eggs hard and cold , overcooked cold bacon which I presume they were trying to pass off as streaky , the mushroom was cold and dripping in oil and the tomatoes seemed to have been dropped in oil but cold and uncooked. Didn’t bother trying the rest of the food on the plate. Returned and got a refund. Staff offered to cook another but declined as I had no confidence that it would improve. Husband ordered eggs benny . His eggs were also hard. Won’t be returning for food .

Been here a few times now, new owners I believe, you need to employ actual Chefs not random people who can’t cook simple dishes, never have I had a breakfast so bad, soggy bacon, joke like rubber egg, Luke warm bean etc etc, I will say that front of house staff were lovely though, and actually sympathetic.

Great atmosphere, food and drink! Super attentive and friendly staff! Charles, Heaven, Ruby and Kenzie are always helpful! Overall, a great non rushed service, with a cosy environment, which means we visit here regularly!

Where to start Dirty tables Rude staff Now to the food, had a big Brekkie, obviously the toaster was broken hence the non toasted bread, sausages overcooked, hash brown obviously deep fried until alll of the potato was cooked out of it, just a rock hard crisp shell, black pudding, should call it cremated pudding, roast tomatoes tbh I don't think they went anywhere near an oven, but the pot of tea was nice, all in all £30 for 2 breakfasts, seriously you guys should wear masks because I feel like I've been mugged

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good customer service. Busy during the weekends so expect a long waiting time for food. Quiet times are usually am Mon-Fri. You are unlikely to have Internet connection on your mobile phone inside, this is a general Rushden Lake down side.

Been here multiple times as we love the food, so continue to try again to see if the service has improved. Have waited well over an hour for simple food on multiple occasions. The last time here we requested a refund as they had brought out 2 of the 4 meals ordered. The 2 had finished their meals and still no sign of the other meals so after about 15 mins of waiting for the other meals we requested and received a refund on the food. I’m currently waiting on our food as I’m writing this. Was told 30 min wait at the till and this was over 45 minutes ago. Still no sign of any food. Something needs to be done about the service and wait times for food. It’s absolutely shocking. This is the last time we will be coming here. It’s a shambles!!

Lovely coffee, really smooth. Bacon chilli jam in the sausage and egg bagel was delicious.

Visited on bank holiday. Staff are friendly and efficient, food is very tasty. Had Eggs Benedict and my wife mushrooms on toast with bacon. The eggs were perfectly cooked with a runny centre. Perfect. Coffee is also very good. Definitely worth a visit for anyone spending time at Rushden Lakes.

Stopped for breakfast. Busy place with good reviews. Sat outside looking over the lake which was nice. Ordered American dinner breakfast and blue mountain coffee lattes. The coffee was great. The pancake and bacon and sausage was nice. Just the two choice of eggs we had. One poached and one scrambled. Set poached eggs are always a disappointment, but the scrambled were rubber tasteless and dry. Shame really, maybe it was down to being so busy. Would return for the coffee.

Edited 19th May: Went here for breakfast and a coffee, no issues whatsoever, food/drink came out hot, delicious, staff were friendly, couldn't of asked for more. Original: Attended for a quick coffee and sandwich whilst shopping on a Saturday, half the tables outside were empty and inside wasn't packed, coffee came out pretty quick but the food took over 30 mins. For a warmed up sandwich and bit of cake was a bit much. We asked the staff twice as they were walking around and both times we got 'food will be with you shortly'. After I had actually finished my coffee I went back in to check what's going on to find our food just sat on the side. Luckily they were in boxes but they were cold again by the time we'd actually got round to eating them. I'd hate to see how unorganized it would be when it's a packed day!

Went for breakfast on Sunday 12th May. A lovely sunny warm day, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing al fresco breakfast. The outside area was very dirty, lots of debris on the floor and the tables and chairs could do with a good clean. Myself and my husband ordered poached eggs on sourdough as per the description on the menu. When the food arrived the poached eggs were cooked ok, albeit one of mine was overdone, and they could have been hotter. The problem was the bread. It was most definitely NOT sourdough but ciabatta!!! We will not be returning it as really deteriorated in every way.

Had to send my order back to get fried eggs cooked properly as they came out very over cooked, the next time round they were perfect

Waited for 30 mins for our two coffees, asked if we could just take our coffees to our own table, which had been sitting on the counter for 15 mins without anyone cared about it. Then encountered with the rude supervisor which told us to wait for these coffees which took another 15 mins to arrive (45 mins in total for just two coffees) . We were very patient waited and tried to be helpful. The supervisor was so rude, I couldn’t have enjoyed the coffee even it was the best brewed coffee in the world.

Hadn't visited for a while, but as it was a nice day, we picked here for coffee and sat outside. It certainly needs a spruce up and good clean outside. There were weeds coming through the pavement, cigarette butt's in planters, and on the floor, and tables were shabby and generally unclean. It definitely looks like 'the poor relation'sitting next to Bill's! The coffee was good, and personnel were polite.

How disappointing. The table service was of a poor standard. The tables had not been cleared or cleaned. The food in my opinion must have been cooked in Jamaica and shipped over. It was cold 😡. I was told that the food was very good but feel let down. I’ll not be coming again.

The food is always lovely here and the coffee is great! Staff are very friendly though sometimes you do feel a little left to it. But I've never had a bad experience here and always love to have the banana loaf cake!

Went with a friend, paid separately, combined bill over £30 for 2 breakfast, drink and one round toast. Service awful, waited an hour 15 mins for food. I felt quite unwell. We had extra chips, the oil they were cooked in not ususal frying oil, tasted awful. Also hygiene wise, there was a server was handling food,hair dropping down, girls had tied hair he should also!! Was not asked if food ok, or if want more drinks. Very poor service. Food cold apart from toast and chips. Absolutely NOT recommended. Waste of money !! Very upset, no real leadership.

Came in on Good Friday for breakfast with the family. I found it a bizarre concept where there weren't table numbers yet we were handed one upon ordering. Which meant the staff running food and drinks didn't know where they were going. I found the food over priced for what we received if I'm completely honest. The one saving grace was one of the young waiters, sorry I didn't get his name but he had dreadlocks. This poor guy didn't stop for the whole time we were there, running around serving food and drinks and bussing tables. And he always had a smile on his face.

Really good coffee, food and place overall… the only thing is whenever I buy cake with coffee it isn’t given with the coffee I have to sit and wait a while for the cake to come, if I forget to ask for a cake to not be warmed up they warm it up without asking… I think customers should be offered the choice if they want a cake warmed up or not….. also service can be very slow. A bagel just to be warmed up took 20+ mins which isn’t good when you are sat waiting with a drink and it’s just a bagel no cooking required

I Had lunch here and me and my wife are vegetarian. We ordered a vegetarian meal each. My wife found bacon in her meal on 3 separate times when they tried to correct the mistake. I had a full refund but seriously this place is awful for vegetarians as they clearly do not respect there customers.

Tables are too dirty. Swapped 2 table both are dirty. Staff looking out eyes and not cleaning we clean ourselves. Kids working around and no manager. I wonder if the tables are dirty like that how’s your kitchen ? Must be improved service quality !

Definitely not worth a visit , place was dirty , we ordered scrambled eggs on toast and pancakes , waited 1 hr , when eggs arrived it was 1/2 cold and full of egg shell , toast was extremely dry . Staff were unhelpful , we defo would recommend or return

This establishment has my full marks! Easily the best breakfast I have ever had cooked for me, I had the American breakfast and my word it was amazing so much flavour, presentation spot on every thing cooked perfect! Gorgeous hot chocolate. Friendly staff clean and tidy, quick service and food 100% recommendation!

Service was very good. Coffee was strong and bitter.

The menu is much less varied than pre-Covid. Now almost everything comes with eggs. I hate eggs. Portion sizes are now mingy and presentation has suffered. At least the coffee is OK. Can’t fault the staff. It is not their fault. Cannot recommend the fish and chips because it is no longer on sale.

Terrible terrible terrible useless zombie rude staff special on the till. Ridiculous paying 10 something for couple of coffee and cheap cake to get this service in return. Will never spend a penny in this place again.

Nice spot for a brunch or coffee. Ample high chairs available for those with babies. Varied menu with lots to choose from and good quality coffee.

Really nice coffee. The most delicious vegan cake. We found the vegan brunch to be quite lacking and not great value for money. We sat at a table that hadn't been cleared yet because it was the easiest to access in my wheelchair. Staff came and took the plates that were left on the table from the previous customers, but didn't wipe the table clean and it was left covered in crumbs. Addendum- visited today again with a friend to have coffee and cake. Got to the till and there looked to be a lovely selection of bakes and cakes. I asked the person serving me what vegan options there were. They didn't know, so asked their colleague, who said 'there aren't any today'. Really? In 2024? Stunning. Approximately 4% of people are vegan in this country. That's one out of 25 customers. Additionally, approximately 10% of people in the uk are lactose intolerant. How many people do you serve on a Saturday? Interesting.

Our server today was Charles. What an impressive young man. My friend uses a wheelchair she was greeted at the door, directed to a table with dignity and respect. He continued to asked if our food was satisfactory and if every thing was ok. Thank you Charles for allowing me to enjoy a lovely lunch with my friend.

On a cold day it was nice to come in to the warmth and also receive a warm welcome. The service is good and the atmosphere pleasant. The hazelnut cruffin is excellent. I am fussy about my coffee and here it is good.

One star is being generous today. Kitchen in chaos. People leaving and asking for refunds. 46 minute wait for overdone poached eggs on dry sourdough toast. Amateur hour. Nice waitress was kind enough to apologise and offer a free coffee and pastry while I waited though.

A wonderful cafe where you can eat delicious food and drink delicious coffee. The staff is friendly, the room is clean and the staff tries to keep it clean, which can't help but please. We recommend. My daughter was offered pencils and paints. Thank you, it was a pleasure! Greetings from Ukraine!

Sadly, I can’t leave a good review following my visit today. We have eaten here before, although it was outside. My toast arrived but was only toasted on 1 side. The butter was hard, and as the toast was cold I couldn’t spread it all. We left our tea as the milk seemed to be frothy and oily although it didn’t smell. I think maybe they gave us almond milk by mistake. I have to say the cleanliness of the environment left much to be desired. Under the tables there was food, dust, grease etc and we were visiting in the morning so it wasn’t possible it had been acquired that day. It looked like there was a build up of at least a week. The place really needs a deep clean as the walls and windows appeared greasy too. We did relay our concerns to the waiter about the roast and milk but he didn’t come back to us regarding them. All in all a disappointing visit today .

A bit noisy with hard surfaces but great value and nice range for breakfast.

This place is my go to for coffee, quality is better than big chain corporations and the food is always consistently superior. Inside is quite small so it sometimes is difficult to get a space but there’s lots of outside seating provided. Food and drinks seem to change regularly and it’s nice to see they’re kept in with the season when they are changed. Staff are always lovely and the cafe itself is kept in a clean and tidy environment.

Overall such a shame that the food can't be served with the drinks. Not for the first time drinks drank and food hasn't arrived yet. Will be thinking whether to come here again and its a shame cause their coffee is lovely.

**UPDATED 20/11/2023** I have left a one star review and was asked to get in touch with customer services. I spoke with Adella Pop via email once and she hasn't had the decency to reply back to me. Ive sent two emails chasing a response and asking for this issue to be escalated but yet to have a reply. Appalling customer services from an appallingly ran business. The owners should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and really consider the industry they are in and if they are capable of offering service. In my experience they can't clean glasses, can't cook food, can't offer a pleasant service in a clean environment and are so arrogant they have no interest in resolving customer complaints. Bonne Appetit! ----------------------- I left a one star review because of cleanliness issues, quality of the coffee and general attitude of the staff. Unfortunately I had to go back as my family wanted to meet here. Once again... Filthy restaurant, poor service and of course; awful coffee. Surely the coffee is the key focus of this business? The espresso is over extracted giving nothing but accrid, burned and a bitter taste. Once again another poor experience.

Great coffee. Much needed after a walk round Rushden Lakes. Plenty of outdoor seating which was lovely on a sunny autumn day. Dog water bowls provided.

Their coffee is soooo much better than coffee served by the famous high street brands.

Coffee was ok , service was quick and efficient. Staff were a little grumpy and the all tables were dirty and sticky, which did spoil the overall experience.
