A great little pub serving really good homemade food. The landlady is lovely. Highly recommended if you are ever in that part of the world.

Visited the Duck inn today, had rang in advance to book Sunday lunch. Very friendly welcome. Ordered the pate to start, was very good. My fiancé had theCullen skink soup, was plenty of it. I had the Lamb, was absolutely delicious, never had so much Lamb on my plate before, lovely choice of vegetables. My fiancé had the Beef, same again plate full of beef. Couldn’t fault any of our food, would definitely recommend anyone eating here. Will be returning very soon. Thank you very munch.

We have visited the duck a few times this year and enjoy company of the locals and the welcome of Sara and the staff. The food is home cooked and tasty and the atmosphere cosy, enhanced by the open fire. Prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for this kind of experience, the duck is perfect.

This ‘pub’ has to be the worst experience I’ve ever had. We walked in and got stared at by locals and was not greeted the way you should when walking into a pub. The landlady was rude and looked like she didn’t care. I believe it was her husband was sat the other side of the bar drinking wine and being really loud and rude. When we got taken through to our table things got worse. The young lady was obnoxious, the table cloth was dirty and the restaurant felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in month. When the food came there was no real care and tasted like a microwave meal from Aldi. When speaking to locals in the restaurant we got told that the own and some locals smoke in the bar and also in the kitchen and got told a cat comes in and out of the kitchen. The whole experience was unpleasant and we felt like we couldn’t give any feed back else we’d have got into an argument with the own and her husband. Do not consider going into this establishment and we will be reporting this to Food Standards Agency

I visited with my friends for Sunday lunch and we had a dreadful experience. We weren't made to feel welcome and felt very uncomfortable. The landlady didn't greet us and the locals stared at us.The food wasn't good and neither was the service. We couldn't get away fast enough. All in all a very awkward experience which is sad as the building has lots of character and could be a real draw for people visiting the area.

We were here for a weekend from London and to be honest were made to feel quite uncomfortable, we'd made a booking and we weren't sure how it all worked but the staff did not really engage with us. The food was below average and so was the whole experience. This place is probably fine if you are a local but otherwise I would avoid.

Used to love going into The Duck, until the landlord started being being abusive, for no reason. We've have been loyal & friendly customers. For a small country pub, they need all the business they can get, but the way the landlord speaks to some customers isn't pleasant. So if you're looking for a nice abuse free meal out, avoid The Duck Inn. The food & drinks are cheap & rightly so because it's not even good. I've only rated one because I couldn't rate it zero.

Had heard about this pub so decided to cycle there and check it out. Luckily I got there before it got busy on Sunday lunchtime and had a bowl of soup, which came with very nice crusty bread and butter. Couldn't resist the tribute to the Marx brothers ! A very quaint old pub with a lovely fire going in the lounge. Will try the Sunday lunch next time...but not on the bike

Dined here for lunch on Mothering Sunday. 3 course lunch, plate full of meat and far too many veg on the table to share. Unbeatable value, but reservations are essential if you want to ensure a table. Could do with a wider selection of beers, but other than that no complaints at all.

The Duck Inn is an olde worlde coaching inn, hundreds of years old and the real deal. Don't come here expecting sleek and modern and, as a local, I'm glad about that. Food here is always wonderful and freshly cooked to order with generous portions at reasonable prices. Thankfully no frozen roast potatoes or veg in sight! A roaring fire and a warm welcome to everyone who walks through the door. A true country pub that entices repeat visitors from far and wide. Relaxed atmosphere and families are welcome.

It was an early February night and I found myself far out of my comfort zone on the Welsh border. Far from the busy Malt Cross or market square I know and love, I stumbled across a local village pub in a quaint village named Chorley. The locals, while slightly odd, greeted me with a merry good evening, and recommended the lasagne. I must say the food was fantastic, equalled only on the night by the welcome received from the staff. This kind of local pub is lost on the youth of today, the good ale, good conversation, and glowing fire filling not only my fingers and toes, but my soul with warmth.

He estado viniendo aquí durante 12 meses y nunca he tenido una mala comida.

After being recommended The Duck by a couple of different people decided to drop in for early evening dinner last Saturday, nice old traditional pub but food was dismal to say the least, bland & over cooked, disappointing, there was a larger party going on so whether this was the reason? Over cooked chips, salmon over cooked and tasteless, sadly won't be returning

Called on spec for Sunday lunch. This is an smallish old country pub - you won't get smart and modern here (over rated in my view) but the warm welcome and excellent food would compensate even if that's what you go for. The meats on offer (beef and pork) were top quality, perfectly coooked with generous portions with more nicely vegetables (of several types) than you could eat. Puddings (we had home made apple pie and lemon meringue) were also excellent. The pub was busy with lots of locals and visitors creating a very friendly atmosphere - how pubs used to be - but better!

We chose The Duck Inn after seeing it listed and rated on a pub food website and it really was a good choice. The pub is very rural but easy to find with plenty of parking. We arrived on a Sunday lunchtime in May and we were given a warm welcome and the crackling log fire was just lovely. The pub itself isn't massive and it is very rustic but we like that. The staff are lovely and helpful and very friendly. We had Sunday lunch which is a set menu with a choice of meats but you can have a mixture if you like, I did as I hate choosing. The food was all fresh, hot and well cooked. There was loads. We were a party of 5 (2 adults, a teenager and 2 children) and half of the food they served would have been ample. You could not possibly go away hungry. The vegetables (served seperately) were peas, carrots, swede, new potatoes, brocolli, cauliflower cheese and ratatouille. We barely touched the edges and we're a family that can eat. We still had pudding though as who can resist cheesecake or chocolate gateau or apple pie and custard! My son who doesn't eat puddings asked for yorkshire puddings for dessert and he got them so was very happy. We will definately be returning here again and again. It is about an hour away from where we live but definitely worth the journey.

We headed to Dee Dee's firstly because it is situated within The Range store, where we happened to be browsing, and secondly, because it advertised that it was serving Costa Coffee. We were killing time, waiting for a relative to undergo a hospital appointment, but we waited a LONG time to be served. I actually began to time it on my watch, silly I know, but I was beginning to think that we would have to ditch our idea of a coffee and head back to the hospital. In the end, we waited a little over 18 minutes to be served. Yes, the coffee was Costa, but not served Barista style, more of the kind of machine one finds in a buffet breakfast at a hotel, select your drink, press the appropriate button and the machine dispenses the drink. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, with one young lady taking orders and delivering coffees and another, older and more experienced lady putting together the food orders. One felt for them, as they were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet. Yet, being British, we all stood there and queued! Costa coffee is okay, not nearly as special as it would like to think, but we got what we paid for. The seating area was nicely laid out, sufficient space between tables, but it was all rather canteen, rather than a coffee / cafe /bistro experience. The management should really look at their staffing levels and help out the current members, who are doing their best.

A really good find close to the Park & Ride bus stop at the top of town. Service was welcoming and helpful (husband has some disability) which extended to our dog. A small breakfast for £6 (choose 3 items) was perfect as was the coffee. Lactose intolerance catered for without difficulty. We’ll be back.

Found by accident while out driving around the area. Popped in for a quick lunch about 2.30. Quits a few people in there. Burger and chips were nice. Coffee was good. Toilet was clean also. Would be a good destination if it wasn't pouring with rain as could sit outside.
