Very good burger, chips and salad with very reasonably priced good wine. Atmosphere a little quiet but it was early on a Tuesday evening. The most remarkable thing was the amazing friendly, professional, interested service from Josephine (assistant manager) and Katie, manager. Thoroughly recommend for the service alone.

Great pub. I imagine its even better in the summer. Quiz was a laugh but the same team seems to win it every week

Went for a quick drink and food at this beautiful pub, i walked in and was greeted straight away, the manager Katie couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a great experience and we had everything we needed. The food was on point, bar staff was great, would definitely come back.

We went for a Christmas works party. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming and the manager was amazing, so kind and hospitable. A real old school pub with a modern twist. We all had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend.

Things have really improved here very recently. Historically it was quite good, but then declined significantly. However the past couple of visits with my son & friends we noticed improvement in staff morale and overall friendliness, quality of food, drink and prices. Nice to see this local pub improving!!

£4 pints!!! Unheard of. They do a great roast (and overall good pub grub). It's a classic Victorian boozer with a nice atmosphere, cosy vibe, and great spaces - the garden is a sun trap and has cover should it rain, and there's also a beautiful terrace which opens in spring/summer. The music is good and noise level never too loud! Best neighbourhood pub with the nicest staff :)

Forget the fact that the interior design is great and it's the cosiest pub on the planet, forget that it's in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in London, forget that it serves some of the best food in the world- four, pounds, a pint. During a time where people are experiencing a housing crisis, energy bills crisis- cost of living crisis, establishments like these allow working class folk like me to be able to go out and have a good time without worrying about whether we'll have enough to eat the next day. Thank you for dong a great service for the people of London. Can't recommend this pub enough.

UPDATE: under new management but my review remains the same. The Duchy has always been one of our favourite neighbourhood pubs, for both food and drink. The food is amazing, in particular the Sunday roast. Highly recommended - see you there soon!

We seriously can not rave about this place enough! Jess and Zach truly made our first trip to London a homey experience. We stayed upstairs and made sure to spend all three nights hanging out with them! Jess went out of her way to ensure we had the best experience and we are so sad to go home! Compliments to all the staff!

Can only watch football in one of the bars as TV in other bar not working sitting with people eating who don't want to watch sports. Won't be rushing back.

Seguramente las críticas positivas anteriores deben referirse a la titularidad anterior. Un sábado soleado a la hora del almuerzo el pub estaba desierto en el interior y también tranquilo en el jardín. No vimos a nadie más pedir comida en el tiempo que estuvimos allí. Es comprensible, ya que era de mala calidad congelador - a - cosas de freidora. El personal joven era amable e hizo todo lo posible con una oferta bastante horrible, por lo tanto una estrella. Si eres local y quieres una pinta barata o una copa de vino m se marca las casillas allí, pero no esperan nada más allá de lo básico y sin duda no visitar esperando una gran comida y ambiente. Realmente odio dar malas críticas, pero nos sentimos tan decepcionados aquí que no hay otra opción real que advertir a aquellos con expectativas poco realistas.

El personal era fabuloso también, especialmente el bajo Sarah creo que su nombre era, muy hospitalario e ingenioso un verdadero golpe! 5 * visitaremos defo la próxima vez que estemos en la ciudad! Very pleasant surprise. Fantastic atmosphere in the garden. The fabulous French-Algerian chef cooked us one of the best bistro style dinners we ever had in London with a lot of enthusiasm. Fresh goose rilette, awesome seabass and great classic steak frites with pepper sauce. Highly recommended.

The Duchy Arms is a very pleasant pub restaurant. The team is very friendly and the food is very good. The products are fresh and the dishes are tasty. The outdoor terrace is very pleasant and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Basically the management of this pub is shocking - they have no idea what’s going on … I booked a table in advance for the football and they confirmed multiple times that we had the table closest to the screen. Only to get here and find out we had been given the table at the back and could barely see the screen. There was no one we could talk to about it and just had to accept what we had. We knew the goals had happened only because of the reactions in front of us. On top the service is really bad - takes an hour to get served and food gets messed up every time. Avoid if possible

Ugh! Nunca he encontrado una desconexión entre el sitio web de un restaurante y el lugar real. Mientras que el Duchy Arms se presenta como un pub gastronómico, esa no fue nuestra experiencia. All pints were £5 which is quite good these days.

I'm just giving it five stars because it has been decorated. I've only been in there once many years ago so once I go in there I will tell you a bit more but it looks lovely on the outside

Well the issue was that we booked a table based on the website advertising. Not only did they not have stock of either the beer or wine we wanted but the menu bore no resemblance to the one advertised. Once we finished our initial drink, we left.

We've been here many times before and have been always over joyed , sadly Pascal and his team have left and the meals and service is definitely not unto Pascals standard. Food is sadly not so typically French anymore. Its ok , nothing special anymore and the offer of £5 beers not something to entice us, I doubt we will be returning unless Pascal returns

Went for a family lunchtime meet. Impressed with pints of beer at £5 each, great wine and very friendly staff. There was a mistake made for the meal for our daughter but this was replaced immediately and we compensated when the bill came. A great pub. Will be back!

I had a great burger and chips for lunch. Sunday 21st April 2024 I had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips and cabbage, my lunch was delicious!

It started off really well at the Duchy Arms. We arrived at 1, got drinks, sat down and ordered food. The food arrived promptly, and looked good when it did. We finished our meals and asked if we could take the leftovers home with us - this caused some puzzled looks. The manager then came over, also confused, and we said again that we'd like to take the leftovers away with us. The original waiter then comes back and asks a third time what we wanted, and then informs us that it was too late, as they had thrown it away. This was followed by the manager then telling off a member of staff on the restaurant floor for a mistake they had made - all in front of customers. Value for money was great - service left something to be desired.

Food is great and atmosphere warm and welcoming. Best feature is the hot guy who hosts the quiz on Wednesdays though.

We can’t recommend this lovely pub in Kennington, keeping the hunt family well fed and whilst off the beaten track is a little gem. A little part of France in every sense of the word hidden in the heart of London Albere who adds a lovely humour to your visit and his team give excellent service. The food is typically French with a touch of English …… love it , love it LOVE IT !!!!

There's no doubt The Duchy has come to life once again. Food and service is great. The place is an absolute gem, being a traditional English pub so near to the bustle of central London life but a world apart from that bustle, being what we Brits call a "Local"; just south of the River Thames. Sunday lunch in a homely, cosy pub is always a relaxing experience before the new week fires up. So why 3 stars? Whether you're a local or on holiday (at the increasing number of Airbnb's in Kennington) it remains an irritation about sneaky mark ups on that nice bottle of wine the two of you want to share with the food. That's the significant down side to the current business model for the beloved Duchy. Take one example, a bottle of Cotes du Rhone Village Les Coteaux; shown in my photo as £10.99 wholesale. Sold to accompany your lovely meal in the Duchy at £31. That's a mark up of 182%. Let's hope the current management team wise up to that not being realistic in a Kennington Pub (yes it's the industry average for Mayfair /Shard /Battersea Power Station/ Knightsbridge/ Kings Road) but not for our little Gastropub in Kennington. So let's crack on and sort that out.

Lovely traditional style pub. Dog and child friendly (in a good way). Main course of beef bourginon was excellent and deserts, bailey's cheesecake and chocolate fondant, were both outstanding. The service was brilliant considering it was quite busy. Highly recommended.

Based in a quiet residential street, from the inside is a warm welcoming atmosphere, the seating areas are well spaced out, the menu is seasonal and the produce used is splendid, th is a big outdoor seating area with umbrella and heating; artificial grass and pet/children friendly. The best thing apart from a wide selection of drinks, bottles of liquor is the wonderful staff. The staff are friendly, smiley and will always be the for you in or outdoors. It is a calm and un overcrowded place. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Just had Christmas lunch at the Duchy Arms. It was fabulous. Great selection of starters, vegetarian mushroom Wellington was delicious and a great selection of desserts. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend a trip here.

Great big roast dinner. Very tasty. My only wish is that the roast potatoes were crispy. A well roasted crispy potato is the foundation of the perfect roast.

I have never tasted great food in a pub! It is surpassing any gastro pub I tried in the past 10 years. Food is original, fresh, and so tasty! Wine is excellent and perfect service. Highly recommended!

관광지로부터 다소 거리가 있는 로컬 펍. 사장님이 너무 친절해서 좋았고, 특유의 아늑한 분위기도 너무 좋았다. 음식도 정말 배불리 잘 주셔서 든든하게 잘 먹었다. 앱솔루트 보드카 병에 물을 주는게 재밌었다. 주변은 조용한 주택가라서 운치있게 조용히 구경하는것도 볼만했다.

The food is of an unexpectedly high standard the humble appearance of the pub. Well worth a visit. Price is very reasonable and service is fantastic. Duck Rillettes were fantastic. Would’ve taken a picture but was too busy eating them 🤤 ***update*** Braised ox cheek you must try. Superb. 👌🏽 ***update-update*** To fully enjoy take the bars recommendations for drinks. Also dessert are equally as good. Just had apple crumble. Best❤️❤️❤️

A lovely pub with a charming host and friendly staff. The food was so tasty....we had the mussels and a wild mushroom risotto both of which were fabulous. I can't wait to go back there. PS The goats cheese starter was delicious as well.

I had my birthday lunch here on a Sunday at 3pm. I wanted a really good roast and good atmosphere and this pub exceeded my expectations. The food was outstanding, I was blown away. I had roast beef. Meat was cooked to perfection, delicious potatoes, veg and the Yorkshire puddings were on point. Not only fantastic food but the service from start to finish was incredible. I went in person to book, they were accomodating, helped me choose a nice table. When we arrived on the day, the table was already laid and looked beautiful. We had a drink outside while we looked over the menu, then went inside for our food. Nothing was a problem, all the staff were 'can do' attitude and just very friendly and kind. I would highly recommend and will be coming back in the future. All my family were impressed and it was a great day. Thank you.

Great experience at the duchy! Been living in the area for ages and never really check it out. Abel was very welcoming and overall good experience. Absolutely stunning. We come here 2-3 times a week as it is the best pub in the neighbourhood. The food exceeds that found in a typical free house with classic British pub food complementing a menu with a French brasserie twist. They adapt their menu to the season so the food is always fresh. Perfect for friends, dates and family meals!

Took my parents for a delicious meal tonight in this candlelit pub, with superb service. Highly recommend the crêpes Suzette for dessert too

Lovely outdoor patio with a delicious brunch. The lamb burger and steak sandwich were exactly what we needed after walking for an hour with our luggage. The staff were warm and accommodating for us two Americans and made us feel like old friends. Would definitely come again if the occasion presents itself!

Two half-Americans here (who absolutely love quality, flavourful food). This location is large and quaint at the same time. Nestled in a beautiful, peaceful neighbourhood. Large comfortable sitting area inside and a beautifully decorated garden out back. We chose to sit outside as we arrived around 11:30am and were the only ones there (everyone is at work I assume). The owner and our waitress were incredibly kind and friendly. Quick service and brought us everything we would need without “bothering” us too many times. The food and portions were great for lunch. We got the lamb burger and the open steak sandwich. The owner so happily brought me more tzatziki sauce and made us feel very special and welcome. You cannot beat the atmosphere and quality service, and we feel it was priced very well for the experience. Not enough good I can say about this! Amazing all around and we will absolutely be back

Could have been a great meal. Lovely team working but no order which results in slow service / cold food. You can’t help to feel slightly forgotten about amongst the other tables. Allow a long wait to be seen and a long wait to receive anything ordered. Honestly, I’d just go somewhere else.
