Booked a table for 2 near the bar for pre-performance bite & glass of wine … and not only benefitted from the stunning festive Thames views but also the excellent service of our bar tender & waiter Yssef (hope I’ve got that correct - a charming young man) and a delicious plate … prawn linguine 🥂

Experience: The experience was good lovely views. Also as we were celebrating our anniversary we were given a complimentary dessert that was lovely. Food: was ok but nothing special. If you’re coming here for the food the best dish we tried was the venison however I’m not sure the price justifies it. Waitress: Britney was lovely as was with us all evening and made the evening service better than it would have been. Sometimes good staff makes an evening much better than expected

Hi We went for drinks last night birthday The cock tail was very good. Thank you to our waiter. If I can politely point out. The staff taking coats at the reception not so a lady with shaved dark hair. Needs to be given help dealing politely with customers. If it hadn’t been rain heavily we would have left straight away. Perhaps it’s a language issue on her part. But poor service to be spoken to in such a manner.

Visited Skylon for my birthday to have the bottomless brunch. The food was really good, plenty of choice and delicious. Part of the reason we chose Skylon was because the menu choice looked so good as opposed to other venues offering a bottomless brunch and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were attentive and our glasses were never empty. The atmosphere was great, good music and a saxophonist (wearing the most fabulous outfit!). I would definitely recommend this venue and will definitely go back.

This is awful the waiter waa a really nice guy and wanted to please but needed training. The food cold over salted with badly cooked pork and at one point a hamburger order failed to turn up. The starters were good but the mains were all difficult to eat. Cold tough meat with no or inedible crackling. When we complained the manager failed to come over. Finally i approached the manager. I feel he should have been on it within minutes. Instead he sent his waiter to offer some free desserts about 3. Since there were 8 of us it was so insulting. Then the manager always via the waiter and never direct. The way they calculated it made it more than the bill. It was so convoluted 😂. In the end I had to help them calculate a discount. Which now i sit here was not enough. Plus the view is marred by some awful lights outside. Needs a whole new team

A really nice place where we ate very well. The service was excellent and so was the welcome. I can't give excellence because the restaurant is very noisy. There is no soundproofing and it is almost impossible to speak without raising your voice. I hope they fix this aspect soon, which for me is essential to having a good evening.

Very disappointing. I was put off the moment I walked in - entrance is a side entrance of the building and is like walking up a run down multi storey car park. Restaurant looks a bit tired, the wooden floors badly marked and feels like it needs a major facelift. Food and atmosphere very average and doesn't justify the high price tag. Entertainment was a bit odd - a DJ with a constant dance track beat and a saxophonist. Toilets are outside of the restaurant in the foyer of the festival hall.

Had a lovely time at Skylon for my Mum's birthday. Great attention to detail and the waiters went out of their way to make it a memorable occasion. Extensive Sunday brunch menu, we were looked after by Ron. Sat by the window as requested for views over the Thames. We moved closer to the bar when the restaurant became chilled. Staff v happy to take photos of us as requested. A complimentary dessert plate with small samples of various desserts and a candle really pleased my Mum. Food was plentiful and service was good, not too rushed. Only comment was restaurant is very dated and am pleased it is being refurbished early in 2025 as it needs some modernisation. Impressive bar area and light installations though made a great photo backdrop

My girls took me here for a birthday lunch. Located right in Festival Hall, it was perfect for taking in the stunning Southbank views whilst enjoying a meal. I ordered the set lunch, royal benedict as a starter and steak for my main. The starter was nice but the waffle was slightly hard. When the steak came, it was cooked so wrong and the peppercorn sauce was thin and watery, even though we raised this the second lot was just as watery, disappointing, had to let the staff know. So they changed it to the cheeseburger, can't really go wrong really, I loved their fries, perfect texture and flavour. Staff were polite and friendly. We sat for hours chatting, at no point did we feel unwelcome or asked to leave. It was amazing. They even surprised me with a cheeky birthday dessert. Toilets are located out of the restaurant, less than a couple of minutes away. Would recommend to others, I'd like to visit again one day. Thank you

Returned to Skylon to enjoy their bottomless brunch for our anniversary whilst in the city for a show. The food, service, views and music were as good as we remembered and make for an excellent experience. From the moment you arrive until you leave you are made to feel special and are well looked after by your hosts. The menu was very different to our previous visit but just as delicious with what seems like options for all diets. We opted for Eggs Royale, Lemon and thyme grilled chicken and sirloin steak, along with green mixed vegetables. There were some very tasty desserts but before we chose one we were brought a special anniversary chocolate plate as I had mentioned it when booking. Alongside the delicious food the prosecco (and water) kept flowing throughout and I don't think our glasses fell below half full for the duration of our dining experience. A live saxophonist also made the meal a great experience wandering around the tables playing along to background music. Finally another mention to our excellent hosts and serves, who in addition to providing fantastic service and our glasses full were great throughout. Can't wait to return!

MORE AT Google

We reserved a table for Saturday, August 10 at 13:30 to celebrate my stepfather's friend's birthday, who was visiting London from Oslo. We ordered three courses with bottomless options. Everything was fine until our waitress went on her break. We noticed that the service was not up to par; my stepfather had to raise his hands twice for his wine to be topped up. The assistant manager (white guy in a navy suit) came to top up our drinks and said this would be the last order, so we agreed and did not notice anything until this waiter (an Asian man) walked up and down our right side of the tables (4 tables), jumping over our table to our left side (1 table) and topping up their drinks. He repeated this topping-up drink twice until we noticed that every time this waiter walked past our table, he ignored us, even though my father was attempting to make eye contact with him to ask why our table was being ignored for service. He was completely disregarding him. When we asked for the bill from the waiter, he directed the assistant manager to bring it to us. Before paying the bill, I inquired as to why every table had been toped for drinks while ours had been ignored by your waiter. He informed us that our table times had run out for the two-hour booking timeframe, which we had previously been informed of. However, I did inform him that when we arrived, the table on the right side (4) was already occupied and that they had already finished their desserts when we began our starters. What would justify our time in front of them, or would you choose to serve at each table based on your perceptions? He refused to answer our questions. My stepfather even requested that he check the CCTV to see the timing on each table. We simply want to know why only our table has been notified that the time limit has expired. He could not respond, so we requested that the service charge be removed from our bill. We are willing to pay the service charge if we are treated equally to the other customers here. He replied that it was fine, and we could do whatever we wanted. After he left, we waved at the waiter, who came to our table and asked him the same questions we had asked his assistant manager. Why has our table been ignored for drink refills, and why has my stepfather's request for attention been ignored every time you walked past the table? You gave us the impression that you were racist because we are Asian. He replied in the same way as his assistant manager, "You can say whatever you want; I do not care," and walked away from the table. We noticed the assistant manager having a conversation with the manager outside the restaurant about our table. We can see how they were both looking at us from the outside restaurant. Before we left, we decided to go to the reservation desk and ask to speak with the restaurant manager (in the grey suit) who was discussing our table with the assistant manager. At this point, we were listened to by the manager and three receptionists. I told them how the waiter was making us feel today by providing constructive feedback, but he was extremely rude to us. Furthermore, the assistant manager was very biased and treated our table differently than other tables. I did mention that if we did not book a table here again on Sunday, we would not bother to file this complaint. We would pay a service charge and then never return. The receptionist checked the booking system and saw that my name was booked on the Opentable for Sunday 25 August for 4 people for lunch at Skylon for our best friend, who had recently married. My point to them was that I do not want to feel this way again when I return next Sunday, and I just wanted the two of them to be aware of how they made us feel today. I did not request anything else. However, the way those two responded to our comments was so rude and egotistical that they seemed unconcerned about our feedback. At this point, the manager and three receptionists were nodding and reassuring me that they would look into it; I just wished the two of them (assistant manager and waiter) could learn customer service and how to behave like these people. My recommendation for booking the Saxy Brunch at Skylone with bottomless Keep in mind that your service time is 2 hours. Be aware that you have been treated equally with the other table, regardless of your gender, race, disability, or nationality (My stepfather was using the wheelchair) Be aware of those two - the assistant manager (white guy in blue navy suit) and waiter (Asian man) if you are being served by them. Be proactive in providing constructive feedback, as they require it. We are living in London and 2024, and we should be treated equally according to the Equality Act 2010. Enjoy your bunch and do not sit in silence.

We had purchased a Travelzoo voucher: £35pp 3-course meal in London w/champagne & Southbank views (and have always enjoyed our Travelzoo experiences before). We were greeted when we arrived (30 minutes before our booked time - never been an issue anywhere else) to be told we were 'very early' and that we could wait in the bar area, where we each ordered a drink. When we were taken to our table we then waited so long that we eventually asked could we order, as we had theatre tickets for afterwards. We'd already noted that our Travelzoo voucher was in fact the exact same price as Skylon's walk in offer! Our starters were eventually produced. My husband's was 'acceptable', mine (chicken caesar salad) not so much: a mass of iceberg lettuce, so roughly chopped the stalky bit at the bottom was included, what tasted like cold chicken from a supermarket, some packet croutons and a slather of anchovy sauce. Our main was good. We'd both had chicken and potatoes. The dessert was awful - we both went for the 'Eton Mess', which compromised a yellow sauce at the bottom alongside something pink and creamy (the best bit) a dollop of strawberry sorbet, ONE large strawberry cut in half and a handful of packet mini meringues slung over the top! NOTHING like any Eton Mess we'd ever had (or made ... let's face it it's not hard) before. Then came the best bit: when we paid our bill for the 2 drinks we'd had at the bar it included a service/cover charge for the entire thing - including the voucher we'd already paid for!!!

Restaurant better than the tired building (FH) My heart sank when I saw the entrance stair and for confiscation of the 1960’s building but from the warm welcome on arrival things looked up considerably. We had a fabulous lunch with friendly, but professional service. Great wine and food… The Fish in particular was well cooked and presented. Great buzz in the dinning room and london to look at the “Skylon signature views”. Even better if more staff on the bar, long wait for our pre drinks. Dedicated toilet / washroom. That said highly recommended.

'Bottomless Prosecco for groups of 13 or more' We should have checked the menu before booking our group for the Weekend Brunch menu as we walked into a wall of sound. But I've been eating in Skylon for years, with its astonishing riverviews and always delicious food. This time was so different. OK, there were white tablecloths and napkins, but we couldn't chat with each other over the noise of disco and cackles from the groups with inflatable balloons tied to their chairs. £29.50 for a 2 course menu sounded fair but having run a restaurant, I know, like the new Labour government, there must be economies somewhere. My prawn cocktail came in a pudding bowl and to make it I reckon you stir some lettuce and tiny prawns into half the bowl of mayonnaise + ketchup, drop two large prawns on top, squirt on more mayo and scatter over paprika. Too sickly for me and a bounty of calories. Steak and chips next with pepper sauce? Great chips but how can the meat be so tasteless? I heaved a quiet sigh of diappointment. OK, I'm fussy, eat out a lot and had recommended Skylon. There are many great restaurants in London at the moment but I feel very sad if the glory days of Skylon are past and shouty groups are better for business.

Very disappointing. Haven't been here in over a decade and how it has deteriorated. Despite telling them very clearly we were going to the theatre, the main course took 30 minutes to arrive after starters were cleared. Same delays for menus, desserts etc. Food was mediocre and not worth the money. A high street bistro tends to play with flavours more. The sun was streaming through the windows causing those by the window to get very very hot but we were told they couldn't lower the blinds, which is clearly nonsense... Get them repaired! The dining hall desperately needs some love and care. It feels old and unloved, and the 50s design touches and glorious view are let down by the appallingly damaged flooring, old paint on the walls, and a general lack of upkeep that such a venue requires. We had a three course dinner with cocktails and spent quite a bit of money. The food is mediocre. Not a disappointment, but not delicious either. The only truly 5* part of the meal was the dessert, which I recommend (we had a few to mix and match). I wanted to give this place a fair go despite the mixed reviews, and I regret doing so. Best spend this money elsewhere. The service was good. Attentive staff, thanks to whom we ended up walking away much happier than we would have otherwise.

We booked the 'TFL Off Peak Friday' deal for 4.30pm on a Friday. This was MEANT to include a 2 or 3 course meal plus a glass of fizz. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed us that the kitchen was closed & would reopen at 5pm. This was a little annoying, but we agreed to have a drink at the bar until then. At 5, i then went back over to the reception desk to say we would like to be seated & should we choose the table ourselves etc, to which she replied that she would come over & seat us. Once seated at our table, we were basically ignored by the MANY waiting staff for over 30 minutes, not even offered water! After not 1 but 2 visits from us back to the reception desk, we were assured that we would be served soon. This didn't happen. So after being at the venue for 1.5 hours, & ignored for most of that time, we paid for our drinks & left. On informing the reception staff that we were leaving, their response was very much that as much as they were sorry we were leaving, it wasn't THEIR fault as it was the waiting staff, which as a paying customer is pretty irrelevant as how they organise (or obviously DO NOT organise!) their staff is of little interest to me - I just wanted to enjoy a nice meal in their venue - which as a well established restaurant, should not be rocket science. The most frustrating part was that they were definitely NOT lacking in staff numbers & to be treated the way we were was inexcusable.

Great location for beautiful views of river Thames and city. Food was tasty and served with courtesy and knowledge. My only gripe would be that the portions were a bit on the small side.

Perfect return to Skylon! I confess it’s been years since we last frequented Skylon - so good to be reminded why we love it! This time, just cocktails. So - to the cocktails. Our talented bartend Rahul first made us two of their signature cocktails. Mine with mezcal, jalapeños and other delights, hers a martini. Once he had loosened us up, Rahul persuaded me to try another spicy little number, this time with tequila. Equally delish. For the lady, *the* perfect old fashioned. All this, with a lesson in how to smoke rosemary to give an old fashioned extra oomph, plus a suggestion that we try maple syrup when next mixing our own. Skylon: great to be back!

Great restaurant - a lovely setting and substantive menu. The price is mid range but you get a standard likely above most comparable venues in the area and certainly compared to venues with a view and location like this. The staff when we visited on a prime evening were quick, attentive and punctual with their service despite the restaurant being very busy. The menu is reasonable, the selection is wide although it caters better for meat eaters than not. The quality of the food is really good, not quite up there with slightly more expensive venues but really consistent … which nowadays isn’t at all a given. As a vegetarian I stuck to non meat options but the meat is probably the better choice than the non meat items. However the pear beetroot and chicory was exceptional, the sorbets were great, and the vegetable curry was very good. I was not as much of a fan of the passion fruit posset but it does get good reviews from others. Would thoroughly recommend for an occasion meal in central London and would struggle to recommend many better locations and offerings.

I would not recommend coming here, especially as a young woman. I was dining here with my family earlier last month, and when I went to get my coat from the cloak room alone, was approached by a older male member of staff who said I had a "pretty face" that was "nice to look at" and that I must have a "happy boyfriend". I felt extremely uncomfortable especially as this man had been waiting on our table all afternoon and I felt had been waiting for the right moment to be alone to make these disgusting comments. There are plenty of other restaurants within central London where you can get food just as good and way better service - don't waste your time or money here.

We just came for some drinks, and the wines we chose were nice, but the place lacks soul. There is no atmosphere at all, just bunches of girls or boys celebrating something, the service is good and the view is outstanding, but it lacks a certain oomph to it . Which is a shame as the location is so good .

Everything was great apart from the managers tone and how he spoke to us. The drinks were well made, the staff were knowledgable and it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere. However, when leaving and asking to find the toilet, the manager(?), Anthony, kind of spoke down to us and we felt a little uncomfortable. A poor end to a good time.

Booked for a Saturday night birthday dinner. Called the week before to book cocktails and then dinner. Very engaging and efficient booking, they prompted me as to whether it was a special occasion and I explained it was a birthday, so I liked that they did that and it built a degree of expectation. Skylon has a great location, very comfortable seating and stunning views. Lovely welcome and we were seated at a nice table. Sadly we were then pretty much ignored for 10-15 minutes which was a complete buzzkill. The cocktails (great menu) were OK but some of the serving sizes were meagre or filled with crushed ice. Our starters arrived within a few minutes of the cocktails which was also not ideal. The food was very good, the starters, mains and desserts. We hurriedly ordered wine when the starters arrived but again the service was a bit sniffy & dismissive. Despite everyone ordering a dessert, there was no acknowledgement of the birthday. I couldn’t say anything as my son was sat in front of me. Great restaurant, good food, great cocktail menu but was really spoilt for me (as I chose it) by cold table service and zero acknowledgement of the occasion. Service charge of 13% for context.

A group of 10 of us visited Skylon for "Saxy" bottomless brunch for my sister's hen do. The communication with the team prior to the day was fantastic with my questions answered promptly. Two courses are offered for £29.50 and three courses for £35.00. You can also add bottomless Prosecco for £21 which we opted to do. George who took care of our table was fantastic and I don't think our glasses were ever even half empty before they were topped up. The food was exceptional. I had the cod followed by treacle tart and I woke up thinking about them this morning. The saxophonist was amazing and the music really added to the atmosphere. Thanks for making such a special day even more special. The bride had the best day.

Incredibly bad service. With place relatively quiet we waited over 90 minutes for our starters. The waiter got some of the drinks wrong and then some of the food orders wrong. The food itself is beyond bland. A lovely setting for a restaurant with possibly the worst food I have had in a restaurant in London.

We booked to visit Skylon as a pre-theatre meal. We arrived before 5pm and ordered a drink before being seated at our booking time. Our order was quickly taken and we made it clear to our waiter that we wanted to order from the ‘Theatre Set Menu’. Our server was polite and helpful. Our starters arrived quickly, however it took one hour and half and three requests to the waiter and management before our mains arrived by which point we had to rush eating them and were left with 10 minutes to eat dessert. When we raised the 1.5 hour waiting time at 6pm with the manager her reply was: ‘Jesus!’ Yet no apology was offered and we were still expected to pay a 13% service charge for such an experience. All round very poor management of the kitchen and no acknowledgement of a what turned out to be a very expensive bad experience. On a positive note the food was all of a good standard when we were finally brought it and our server did her best under the circumstances.

We booked in for the Saxy brunch just before a Saturday matinee at the old Vic Theatre. Two courses are offered for £29.50 and three courses is £35. You can also add bottomless bordeaux or bottomless Prosecco for £21. However, we chose to indulge in nyetimber sparkling wine and cocktails instead. The food was outstanding, and the service was great. we did have a slight delay in the delivery of one of our items, but this was rectified almost immediately by the attentive staff. It was nice to have a brunch accompanied by a great saxophonist, adding to the already lovely ambience on the banks of the teams I thought the menu was great value and had eggs Royale followed by cod, loin and ice cream. My friend, opted for eggs, Royale as well and followed that with steak and chips and treacle tart. I have a feeling that Skylon is going to become another firm favourite.

We went for the Saxy brunch with bottomless Prosecco and the drinks really flowed - the service was excellent - especially Lily (who I’m sure would have expected me to forget)! Food was good although portions were quite small but when we asked they brought more rabvioli. The atmosphere was fun, saxophone was great and the view was amazing! Excellent choice for a girly brunch and would go again but would probably pick the burger as it comes with chips and looked a bit more filling than the cod .

On Saturday 2nd March I decided to head to Skylon, a place I hadn't been to in ages, but I know it used to do damn good cocktails. As I'm the "Bartend" for a forthcoming Hen Party, I needed to know how to make some classic cocktails, so I was just hoping I'd meet the right person at Skylon who wouldn't mind showing me what he or she was doing. I met Rahul. He turned out to be an absolute LEGEND. What a top, top, nice guy. Patient. Knowledgeable. Happy. Always coming over to see if I was okay. The guy made my day. I learned so much more than I thought I would. And can this guy make a decent cocktail? Hell yeah. He's incredible. I *still* think the Spicy Margarita was quite spicy though! :) So thank you, Rahul, and the lovely young lady who was also there (Mia? I'm sorry... I've lost the piece of paper with people's names on! Was definitely a short name). Rahul was that good... it's making me come back with some friends real soon so we can enjoy more of his cocktails. Superb day at Skylon. AGAIN.

We had a super time at Skylon. Can’t pretend it’s the best food I’ve ever had or even that the meal was particularly memorable, but all things considered, they did a top job & provided a wonderful, overall experience. The views are undoubtedly the star & this large, airy venue on the Southbank, part of the Festival Hall, boasts a long stretch of wall to ceiling windows, guaranteeing, stunning, uninterrupted vistas for most diners. It’s been on the go since 2007 & whilst modern (part of the hip D&D group) there’s something charmingly old school & established about it. Service was faultless. I feared it might be very quiet on this mid week, early March visit, but it was packed to the rafters with a mixed clientele of young/old & business/leisure. We opted for the set lunch, reasonably priced at £35 for 3 courses. By & large, dishes were good. We also made the most of the extensive cocktail & wine list, & had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
