Skylon was the perfect rendezvous spot for dining with an old friend based to the east of London, with me travelling in from the SW. I had not been for some years. The standout experience for me was the service: special mention for Mary, who made me feel so welcome from the moment I sat down to the moment we left. I knew she was always there to help and she was had a wonderful energy. We were also helped by by Anson and Antonio. The time flew by! A wonderful evening.

Absolutely gorgeous experience. The view was beautiful. This is my first time here and I would definitely come back the next time I’m in London. A last minute meal out and decided on Skylon as hadn't been for quite a number of years. The dining room is large and very comfortable with a nice feature bar. Tables along the river side are in high demand and for good reason. They provide a wonderful view out to the river and north side. The staff were all excellent and a pleasure to deal with. The cocktails were great and the food was pretty good too. It's a little on the pricier side but that's worth it if you have a good table with a view and can enjoy it while you relax and chat!

Skylon is back again … !! I visited Skylon for lunch recently and what a makeover … stunning ambience, great vibe and not to miss a brand new menu to choose from. A big shout out for the Triple cheese soufflé … it was sublime. Every dish that came to the table had a surprise element. It not only looked pretty but it was packed with flavours that leaves you wanting for more. The cocktails were great too . A special mention about the waiter who was so attentive that it was a pleasure to be served by her . It is worth the visit to enjoy a scrumptious meal and watch the stunning sunset by the river on South Banks !

Generally excellent service, bar wines for main course arriving mid course and with the wrong order. Our waitress was very helpful in ensuring food came quickly given we were going to a concert after. The food was only ‘ok’, though nicely presented. Mutton curry was pleasant but bland without a hint of spice despite the (h) in the menu, which we took to mean hot. Rhubarb trifle was unusually textured with very firm (crunchy) rhubarb and had precisely zero taste of rhubarb. It’s a nice airy space with great views though the live music made talking difficult.

Awful service, waiting staff not trained… didn’t know what flavour the soup was, one asked us for a calculator to split out bill. had to tell one waiter to please shush as he kept going on and on (his mistake for not speaking to manager) we had a choice for our mains of fish, fish and pasta, they didn’t have chicken but had chicken Ceasar salad on menu. But replaced the chicken option with Salmon ? No atmosphere, handful of customers in restaurant. Nice view of the Thames. Only one waitress was really good (black girl with glasses and blond plaits). Food average, hard brioche bun on burger the bottom was hard. We order from the set menu, had to change choices because of no chicken, because of order mess up the manager who didn’t speak to us at the table said we could order from al a carte menu through the waiter. After our friend complained. Croutons on Ceasar salad stale and hard just dry old bread. This was a birthday celebration, will not be going again Food was not A La Carte… Maybe if the waiting staff didn’t stand around chatting in clumps and learn the menu and what’s available, bad management. Not discreet when discussing tables and customers they stare at you while talking about you.

I had the pleasure of attending a private party at Skylone, given by The Old Vic Theatre last night, I had never been to Skylone, and to be honest, I'd never heard of the venue before, I was so excited to discover what a beautiful place it is, the views onto the river Thames are spectacular, but what really impressed me more, besides the constant flow, of a delicious variety of canapés, and impressive cocktails which were on offer, was the impeccable service given by the serving staff, especially from a Skylone staff member called Merima, who was incredibly kind and attentive, she has a great personality, and set the tone for us to have a special evening, she went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after. We were here for a Diamond Wedding pre concert lunch. The view was amazing but considering the restaurant has just reopened following re furbishment, we were surprised the tables were packed so close together as to make difficulties for the waiting / serving staff. the attention was slow in the extreme from the moment we arrived = slow to bring the menu, slow to take the orders and even slower to actually bring the food - 40 minutes wait between starters and main course and two hours altogether which did not allow time for a dessert. The food was delicious but the staff need to up their game, from the manager, who seemed disinterested and out of his depth downwards. We were no offered bread or nibbles and not once were we asked if everything was okay. The food and view saved this review!!

Absolutely appalling experience with Skylon. They profit off medical emergencies without an ounce of compassion. I tried contacting them several times via phone and email regarding a cancellation due to my fiancée undergoing emergency surgery, which forced us to cancel our entire London trip. When I called the restaurant, they promised someone would get back to me, but instead, I received a short, cold reply stating, “We can’t do anything, can’t return the money, we have a policy where you have to cancel one week in advance.” How on earth were we supposed to know my fiancée would end up hospitalized in a serious condition? They ignored our situation entirely. To make matters worse, they probably sold our spots immediately to profit even more. Disgusting and heartless behavior. I would never step foot in this place again, and I strongly urge others to reconsider supporting a business that treats people like thIs.

The food was forgettable at best, and the service was absolutely terrible. We came here for a date night and specifically requested a river-view table. However, we were told those tables were only for larger groups, even though we saw many couples seated at them. They promised us we’d be moved when one became available, but despite several tables freeing up, we were never moved. The service was incredibly slow. One waitress seemed to be handling too many tables, which led to delays in getting our drinks. When the wine we ordered finally arrived, it was kept behind the bar, and they were awful at keeping our glasses topped up. The location is great, and I can see how having a good table with a river view could make a difference, but if you’re not lucky enough to get one, I would suggest saving your money. It’s a second-rate restaurant. Maybe good for one drink.

Lovely place with brilliant views. The food was nice but overpriced for what you get and the quality, I would have expected better presentation of main dishes. Dessert was great, wine was lovely. Service was also good although the waiter forgot to come back to us when I asked for water. I'd say the atmosphere was a little stressful as it was extremely loud and noisy, there were 2 work parties along with regular guests which made it really hard to hold a conversation on our table. Maybe some sound proofing is needed in the room!

Our Christmas dinner with colleagues at this restaurant was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience. With around 40 people in our group, we had high expectations, but it quickly became clear that the evening wasn’t going as planned. First, the main course food was served cold, some items missing which immediately set a negative tone. It was clear that the meals had not been properly reheated or prepared to the standard we were hoping for. To make matters worse, the menu we were originally promised had been changed, and we were given limited options that didn’t reflect what we’d been led to expect when first enquiring about this venue. On top of that, the meal didn’t justify the price at all. Given the lack of variety and quality, the cost felt far too high for what was offered. Many of us left the dinner feeling hungry and dissatisfied, which is a real letdown for this year Christmas office dinner. A few colleagues had eaten at this establishment in the past and stating that they had a very enjoyable meal every thing was perfect, hence why we chose this place for our firm’s Christmas dinner. All in all, the food quality, lack of choice, and overpricing left us all feeling disappointed. It’s unfortunate because we had hoped for a good festive, enjoyable meal, but instead, it was an experience we’d rather forget.

I booked skylon one month in advance for my son's birthday dinner, picked it for the view. We arrived 15 minutes early, restaurant was 2/3 empty. I asked if we could have a window seat as there was plenty, but the lady at the reception refused and said it's only 4 seat tables available there. And sat us further away in the restaurant. Even though there was seating closer to the view.. 20 minutes later middle aged couples were seated by the window tables, not filling all four seats obviously..the soup was not appetising at all and the risotto was so undercooked that it was crunchy... I was joking my 17 years old son could have cooked it better... Waited for our bill for half hour...The only good thing about the place is the view, which you don't get to enjoy if you're not middle aged , and a waitress who served us was very lovely too... Do not recommend sadly, very disappointing visit...

I feel he should have been on it within minutes. Instead he sent his waiter to offer some free desserts about 3. Since there were 8 of us it was so insulting. Then the manager always via the waiter and never direct. The way they calculated it made it more than the bill. It was so convoluted 😂. In the end I had to help them calculate a discount. My girls took me here for a birthday lunch. Located right in Festival Hall, it was perfect for taking in the stunning Southbank views whilst enjoying a meal. I ordered the set lunch, royal benedict as a starter and steak for my main. The starter was nice but the waffle was slightly hard. When the steak came, it was cooked so wrong and the peppercorn sauce was thin and watery, even though we raised this the second lot was just as watery, disappointing, had to let the staff know. So they changed it to the cheeseburger, can't really go wrong really, I loved their fries, perfect texture and flavour. Staff were polite and friendly. We sat for hours chatting, at no point did we feel unwelcome or asked to leave. It was amazing. They even surprised me with a cheeky birthday dessert. Returned to Skylon to enjoy their bottomless brunch for our anniversary whilst in the city for a show. The food, service, views and music were as good as we remembered and make for an excellent experience. From the moment you arrive until you leave you are made to feel special and are well looked after by your hosts. The menu was very different to our previous visit but just as delicious with what seems like options for all diets. We opted for Eggs Royale, Lemon and thyme grilled chicken and sirloin steak, along with green mixed vegetables. There were some very tasty desserts but before we chose one we were brought a special anniversary chocolate plate as I had mentioned it when booking. Alongside the delicious food the prosecco (and water) kept flowing throughout and I don't think our glasses fell below half full for the duration of our dining experience. A live saxophonist also made the meal a great experience wandering around the tables playing along to background music. Finally another mention to our excellent hosts and serves, who in addition to providing fantastic service and our glasses full were great throughout. Can't wait to return!

We enjoyed a spectacular view of the Thames, tasty food and great service here. We ate the set lunch, which was quite good value and came with a refreshing glass of rosé. A nice place for a special treat. We were there on a Monday so it was quite quiet, hence the slightly lower score for atmosphere.

The service was great the staff was funny and entertaining. This place is a perfect date night spot for sure and the views were amazing. The steak was a bit undercooked when asked for medium rare, but the french fries remind of american diner fries which was good

We reserved a table for Saturday, August 10 at 13:30 to celebrate my stepfather's friend's birthday, who was visiting London from Oslo. We ordered three courses with bottomless options. Everything was fine until our waitress went on her break. We noticed that the service was not up to par; my stepfather had to raise his hands twice for his wine to be topped up. The assistant manager (white guy in a navy suit) came to top up our drinks and said this would be the last order, so we agreed and did not notice anything until this waiter (an Asian man) walked up and down our right side of the tables (4 tables), jumping over our table to our left side (1 table) and topping up their drinks. He repeated this topping-up drink twice until we noticed that every time this waiter walked past our table, he ignored us, even though my father was attempting to make eye contact with him to ask why our table was being ignored for service. He was completely disregarding him. When we asked for the bill from the waiter, he directed the assistant manager to bring it to us. Before paying the bill, I inquired as to why every table had been toped for drinks while ours had been ignored by your waiter. He informed us that our table times had run out for the two-hour booking timeframe, which we had previously been informed of. However, I did inform him that when we arrived, the table on the right side (4) was already occupied and that they had already finished their desserts when we began our starters. What would justify our time in front of them, or would you choose to serve at each table based on your perceptions? He refused to answer our questions. My stepfather even requested that he check the CCTV to see the timing on each table. We simply want to know why only our table has been notified that the time limit has expired. He could not respond, so we requested that the service charge be removed from our bill. We are willing to pay the service charge if we are treated equally to the other customers here. He replied that it was fine, and we could do whatever we wanted. After he left, we waved at the waiter, who came to our table and asked him the same questions we had asked his assistant manager. Why has our table been ignored for drink refills, and why has my stepfather's request for attention been ignored every time you walked past the table? You gave us the impression that you were racist because we are Asian. He replied in the same way as his assistant manager, "You can say whatever you want; I do not care," and walked away from the table. We noticed the assistant manager having a conversation with the manager outside the restaurant about our table. We can see how they were both looking at us from the outside restaurant. Before we left, we decided to go to the reservation desk and ask to speak with the restaurant manager (in the grey suit) who was discussing our table with the assistant manager. At this point, we were listened to by the manager and three receptionists. I told them how the waiter was making us feel today by providing constructive feedback, but he was extremely rude to us. Furthermore, the assistant manager was very biased and treated our table differently than other tables. I did mention that if we did not book a table here again on Sunday, we would not bother to file this complaint. We would pay a service charge and then never return. The receptionist checked the booking system and saw that my name was booked on the Opentable for Sunday 25 August for 4 people for lunch at Skylon for our best friend, who had recently married. My point to them was that I do not want to feel this way again when I return next Sunday, and I just wanted the two of them to be aware of how they made us feel today. I did not request anything else. However, the way those two responded to our comments was so rude and egotistical that they seemed unconcerned about our feedback. At this point, the manager and three receptionists were nodding and reassuring me that they would look into it; I just wished the two of them (assistant manager and waiter) could learn customer service and how to behave like these people. My recommendation for booking the Saxy Brunch at Skylone with bottomless Keep in mind that your service time is 2 hours. Be aware that you have been treated equally with the other table, regardless of your gender, race, disability, or nationality (My stepfather was using the wheelchair) Be aware of those two - the assistant manager (white guy in blue navy suit) and waiter (Asian man) if you are being served by them. Be proactive in providing constructive feedback, as they require it. We are living in London and 2024, and we should be treated equally according to the Equality Act 2010. Enjoy your bunch and do not sit in silence.

We had purchased a Travelzoo voucher: £35pp 3-course meal in London w/champagne & Southbank views (and have always enjoyed our Travelzoo experiences before). We were greeted when we arrived (30 minutes before our booked time - never been an issue anywhere else) to be told we were 'very early' and that we could wait in the bar area, where we each ordered a drink. When we were taken to our table we then waited so long that we eventually asked could we order, as we had theatre tickets for afterwards. We'd already noted that our Travelzoo voucher was in fact the exact same price as Skylon's walk in offer! Our starters were eventually produced. My husband's was 'acceptable', mine (chicken caesar salad) not so much: a mass of iceberg lettuce, so roughly chopped the stalky bit at the bottom was included, what tasted like cold chicken from a supermarket, some packet croutons and a slather of anchovy sauce. Our main was good. We'd both had chicken and potatoes. The dessert was awful - we both went for the 'Eton Mess', which compromised a yellow sauce at the bottom alongside something pink and creamy (the best bit) a dollop of strawberry sorbet, ONE large strawberry cut in half and a handful of packet mini meringues slung over the top! NOTHING like any Eton Mess we'd ever had (or made ... let's face it it's not hard) before. Then came the best bit: when we paid our bill for the 2 drinks we'd had at the bar it included a service/cover charge for the entire thing - including the voucher we'd already paid for!!!

Antonio was a true gentleman! He looked after us from start to finish from the moment we arrived to the time we left the restaurant. Fantastic food, welcoming staff, generous portions, healthy amount of Prosecco - and service with a smile. I would say we would come back - but we already have! Almost 4 times each. 'Bottomless Prosecco for groups of 13 or more' We should have checked the menu before booking our group for the Weekend Brunch menu as we walked into a wall of sound. But I've been eating in Skylon for years, with its astonishing riverviews and always delicious food. This time was so different. OK, there were white tablecloths and napkins, but we couldn't chat with each other over the noise of disco and cackles from the groups with inflatable balloons tied to their chairs. £29.50 for a 2 course menu sounded fair but having run a restaurant, I know, like the new Labour government, there must be economies somewhere. My prawn cocktail came in a pudding bowl and to make it I reckon you stir some lettuce and tiny prawns into half the bowl of mayonnaise + ketchup, drop two large prawns on top, squirt on more mayo and scatter over paprika. Too sickly for me and a bounty of calories. Steak and chips next with pepper sauce? Great chips but how can the meat be so tasteless? I heaved a quiet sigh of diappointment. OK, I'm fussy, eat out a lot and had recommended Skylon. There are many great restaurants in London at the moment but I feel very sad if the glory days of Skylon are past and shouty groups are better for business.

Restaurant better than the tired building (FH) My heart sank when I saw the entrance stair and for confiscation of the 1960’s building but from the warm welcome on arrival things looked up considerably. We had a fabulous lunch with friendly, but professional service. Great wine and food… The Fish in particular was well cooked and presented. Great buzz in the dinning room and london to look at the “Skylon signature views”. Even better if more staff on the bar, long wait for our pre drinks. Dedicated toilet / washroom. That said highly recommended.

We took our London visitors to supper there last Friday night - location was great. Great welcome and overall good service even though it was busy and was a large table x @ 20 people. We ended up with a mix of menu - early bird and a la carte.A free glass of rosé too !😊 We arrived early and had a super window table. The wine was tricky but the sommelier was so helpful and practical, his choice of red and white was perfect . Great diplomatic service ! I was unsure what to expect as I read the reviews BUT Food was very good. I had pasta and it was lovely as was the fish we were all content with quality etc. A few sides completed the meal. We shared some deserts as we were too full but lots to go around. Recommend and very reasonable cost.

Very disappointing. Haven't been here in over a decade and how it has deteriorated. Despite telling them very clearly we were going to the theatre, the main course took 30 minutes to arrive after starters were cleared. Same delays for menus, desserts etc. Food was mediocre and not worth the money. A high street bistro tends to play with flavours more. The sun was streaming through the windows causing those by the window to get very very hot but we were told they couldn't lower the blinds, which is clearly nonsense... Get them repaired! Such a great location. Such a disappointing dinner.

Fabulous restaurant overlooking the Thames on the South Bank with DJ and sexy sax, I had the prawn cocktail, sirloin steak (pink) with fries .. added the veg which were amazingly cooked to perfection and the lemon meringue tart Although there was a DJ we couldn't hear the music because there were a lot of people and children dining and chatting therefore the atmosphere was lost. The Saxophonist was great and loud but i didnt recognise the tunes. We had the best service by our waiter Chatan he was excellent and listened to my friends butter sickness / intolerance and made sure the chef knew to cook the steak and veg in olive oil instead of butter which was extremely tasty.

A piss-take of a kebab house these days, sadly. Hard, overcooked, rubbery kebab meat, and ever diminishing portion sizes. I've given them 3 strikes, but but now they are out. Herne Hill needs a proper kebab shop.

I had my 25th birthday party on the boat and it was fantastic! The staff were incredibly accommodating, the downstairs space comfortably accommodated our 100 guests and the ability to play our own music meant the party really got started! I would definitely recommend booking this venue for anyone who is looking for a good and unique space!
