A gorgeous country pub, which has been renovated to an extremely high standard. Beautiful decor and a cosy feel, plus delicious food! The staff were really friendly and accommodating towards my son’s allergy. We will definitely visit again!

As The Druid is the local of my in laws we have visited quite a few times before and since the refurb. Since the refurb it is a really lovely country pub, good selection of beers, lovely food and friendly staff (sometimes you have to wait a bit to get served). Will update review if any of this changes though.

Booked a table to celebrate my mum’s birthday. Lovely pub with amazing food! Everything was cooked perfectly and piping hot. We had a mixture of dishes and everything was brilliant. In my booking, I asked for a bottle to be on the table and this was arranged. Highly recommend if you are staying near to Holywell!

We called in after a long day touring the area and stayed for a couple of drinks outside in the Sunny Weather. The pub is clearly old and retains much of its character but is nevertheless clean and perfectly functional. There is a small seated area outside to the front and a larger beer garden at the back. Lovely flowers on display and a picture perfect view out front opposite an old Church. Although we did not eat we seen what was on offer, and it looked and smelled very good. Even the toilets were spotless. I think we will be calling back!

We both had the Sunday lunch roast lamb which was cooked to perfection. Unusual selection of vegetables (which tasted great) a really good example of how a Yorkshire pudding should be cooked and the salt mash lamb was beautiful. The roast potatoes did not disappoint, the chef got the crunchy topping just right. I had the raspberry and set lemon cream pudding and my wife had the summer fruit pudding. Both really tasted great….not too sweet. The waitresses were all very helpful and friendly.

So, the place has been refurbished nicely. An eatery, rather than a pub, but most places are like that nowadays. Food.......err, not bad but not close enough to be regarded as good. Prices, well considering the quality of the food I would regard it as somewhat overpriced. Staff, lovely. Service, so so. Comfort - not good enough if you are unfortunate enough to be shown to a table with a bench seat by the window and only one chair for your partner. One of you will have noback support which makes siting uncomfortable. Have been looking forward to the re-opening of the venue for a good while, watching the wokforce with interest, but having now been twice, will leave it for another good while methinks. Happy to pay high prices if the quality and comfort reflect those costs, but as yet they do not quite hit the mark. Note to the boss - We are looking forward to coming back to support you, as soon as the reviews indicate a change.

Excellent experience start to finish. 5* across the board. Arrived to be greeted by cheerful, friendly staff. Shown to a table and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived with menus as requested. We had 3 different starters of garlic mushrooms, pate and halloumi. All of them were delicious , generous portions and hand made. Next we had gammon, a lasagne and sausage and mash. Each meal well presented, tasty, plentiful and piping hot throughout. Zero complaints from any of us, which is rare! We sampled a couple of the desserts - Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Cheesecake. Both beautifully presented and served on really pretty slate hearts. The beer was cold and poured well & the G&T well presented and always with a smile from the staff. The quaint Welsh pub holds a wealth of character and a beautiful small beer garden. It’s dog friendly as well as human and certainly worth a visit if you fancy some honest, home cooked food. We will certainly be back and recommend it to our friends and clients alike. A rare find for customer service, quality and value for money. Well done to all the staff at The Druid Inn , Gorsedd, Holywell. Flintshire.

So first time visit for us, with friends. During the week and the pub itself was very quiet at 6.30 which suited us frankly as most people sat outside and that left us plenty of social distancing space inside. Covid regulations adhered to as well, which is very reassuring. We had dinner, with the mushroom risotto especially welcomed, although the burger and the tomato Ragu also went down a treat. But it was the desserts which really made the evening. Absolutely delicious sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant with the largest portion of Chantilly cream I've ever seen in my life on the side. To die for. The staff were really lovely and the landlord especially welcoming. A really lovely gem in the countryside. If I lived here I'd be there every weekend. And there's a quiz on a Thursday night apparently!

So …. We went into this lovely looking Pub / Restaurant for something to eat after reading good reviews . Unfortunately they weren’t serving food due to a problem in the kitchen . The lovely landlady ( her name escapes me ) , refused to see us go hungry and insisted that she would ring around ( only places she would frequent herself ) and try to get us a table ! After ringing a couple she not only found us somewhere but booked us in too .. And it was great !! The landlady at The Druid Inn really did go the extra mile for a couple of strangers , and we appreciated it very much ! We will be going back to her eatery very soon and hope to see her again and enjoy a good meal !

Well, we love our food and after trying so many other pubs around the area definitely know the good from the bad. This is our second visit to eat after trying their sirloin steak, so thought we'd try their Sunday lunch. I'm never usually fussed about roast beef because it can be chewy and full of fat, but this was slightly pink with no fat at all and probably the best I've ever tasted, accompanied by lots of lovely veg, a nice gravy and some Yorkshires to soak it up. Opted for the Lemon Drizzle Loaf for afters, which I'll be honest, needed a bit more custard, but they happily obliged and we came away fat and happy. All in all it's really nice pub with good grub served by an owner who clearly cares about her customers. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit!

Our first visit to the Druid since the new management got off to a great start when we were warmly welcomed. The restaurant manager and waitress were clearly passionate about providing great food with good attentive service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and chatted with the manager regarding the vegetarian choices and our hope for a nut roast on the Christmas menu. I rarely indulge in a dessert but couldn't resist on this occasion. It is great to see the Druid's drive to source ingredients locally. Visted here on sunday 27th. I rang to see if we could have a table for 2 and they said that was fine. We arrived at 5.10 ordered a drink, ordered our food and then a short time later we were taken into the restaurant. Starters arrvied, great portion size and were tasty, however my partners goats cheese was missing the relish stated on the menu, which we had to ask for. Short time after our starters were finished our mains arrvied. I ordered gammon and my partner beef. Again part of the dish was missing from my meal this time. No sausage meat stuffing which we werent advised on ordering. My gammon was nice and the roast pots and gravy were nice however the veg was horrible. Peas, carrots and broccoli, were all very overcooked, the peas and carrots had shrivelled and the broccoli had burned. My partners beef was also very fatty. I complained which i hate doing, we were offered replacement veg however we didnt want to wait for this as we were nearly finished with our potatos and meat. I would of like to have had a dessert but i was put off by the poor mains. We asked for the bill which I paid but was disappointed to see did not even had a drink or anything knocked off in lieu of the poor meal. I dont think we will be visiting again. The impression i got was it was half the effort as we were the last check of the day.

No reservation so We weren’t surprised to not get into the restaurant itself but were happy to eat in the bar. Service and food for Sunday lunch was great.

The restaurant opened again last night after almost a year of closure. What a great job the owners have done. The quality of the food was superb and the restaurant has been tastily refurbished. It will make a nice addition to our list of great local eateries. We are so spoiled in this area and now it just got even better! :-)

'The Druid's' is stupendously decked out for Christmas, and it is worth visiting just for that.......a 'cold' (not really) and convincingly Arctic theme to the welcoming bar, then into the utter warmth of the flaming hearth heated and sumptuously decorated interior. Seeing is believing and the spectacle made more impressive by the fact that the owners design and install all the elaborate and artistic decorations themselves. They both seem to work unbelievably and tremendously hard at this place and have loyal staff who stay the course. All the more surprising therefore to read a proportion of negative reviews submitted by obviously sincere people, mixed in with the many 'rave reviews'!! Our experience has always been excellent and our Christmas dinner visit was no exception...the service was terrific and each course , to my pallet, perfection. Our thanks to the owners and their staff for all their hard work on our behalf...we wish them great success in the the future and hope they can put their clever heads together and ensure a full year of 'rave results' next year!

Food was very nice and plenty to eat. Made several visits since, but suddenly the roast potatoes served were very hard, and even struggled to cut them? Everything else was faultless. Staff very friendly. We decided to try elsewhere, and have now found better (who also do mashed potatoes which is a bonus). We probably will return at a later date.

I have lived for 52 years in the local area to this pub and only been in it once.So I took my son and girlfriend there one day in September 2016 for a meal. The room at the back of the pub where we were sat scared my 8 year old son as the wallpaper, items all around the room are very creepy. The colours are horrible. It all needs remodernizing. We ordered the food and it was okay.but not a lot on the plate for what we had payed.I would never go there again.

Me and my partner came to the Druid inn on the recommendation of my partners family members, so thought we would give it a try. We don't normally try new places due to the fact I have a texture problem with certain foods but thought what the hell. After arriving in the pub and being greeted by the staff they asked us to sit in the waiting area and look at the menu, after looking a waitress came over to ask if we was ready to order even though we hadn't yet been seated at our table. But went with it anyway, I explained politely to the waitress my texture problem and apologised to the waitress for this as I was embarrassed. She seemed very polite and seemed to understand. She said she would go and make sure that the chief could do the small changes for me. So then came out to say that the chief wouldn't accommodate me and my needs and that If I wanted what I did I should order from the bar menu, so I asked the waitress couldn't I just order the side that I wanted with my meal off the bar menu and I would pay separate and she said no I couldn't as the chief wouldn't allow it. Also the chief wouldn't allow you to have your stake well done Found it rather ridiculous if you ask me, but it didn't matter as it still came out well done anyway. The staff were lovely and friendly but chief really needs to accommodate his customers. Whilst there I did here another couple in the restaurant saying they were also going to complain about the chief lack of understanding for other people's needs.

10 of us booked for a meal. 2 of us arrived on time at 7.30 and the others around 7.50. We ordered our food by 8.05. The waitress informed us our orders would be delayed due to the late arrival of the rest of our party. Around 9 ish we checked on our food to be told it was being plated up. By 9.20 only 1 dish had arrived. 3 of our party left. The rest of us waited. The manager then informed us that because some of our party had left NO food would be coming. We left!

This place truly is a hidden gem, the food and service is second to none, including the manager/bar staff, i would refute the reviews about the manager as he was more than accomadating to myself and my elderly husband who struggled to get past a large group of people who had moved tables and chairs and blocked the entrance to the ladies loos, he acted professionally and asked the group politely to make way. I have visited here 5 times this year and everytime its been top notch food, (sunday lunch is amazing and very filling) and the atmosphere is extremely relaxed. A must for anybody who loves a traditional village pub.Maureen and trevor.

My husband and I have visited The Druids plenty of times over the years for drinks/food/family celebrations but have rarely visited in recent years since the change of ownership. We decided to meet with family on Saturday evening for drinks and found seats in the lounge area. We had to move a couple of chairs as there were a lot of us and we had been sat in the same chairs for at least an hour before the Manager (Steve) rudely interrupted us to tell us that it was not our living room and that we should put the chairs back where we found them. This is after we had spent a large amount of money on drinks. We were disgusted at the way that he spoke to us. It felt like we were naughty school children being told off. It is not uncommon for large groups to move chairs around in a pub. Suffice to say we will not be returning until there is a change of ownership again or Steve improves his customer service. It is notable that there are several other reviews mentioning his unfriendliness and rudeness.

As The Druid is quite popular we booked for Sunday Lunch, advise doing the same as it got quite full whilst we were there. The roast lamb was very nice, the vegetables nicely cooked and the service very friendly. The decor is still very interesting…

Food poorly cooked with one meal served half an hour after the first three. No attempt to appease and will never darken this door again. Very very disappointed .

This is a really quaint pub/restaurant which serves bar meals and also has a separate restaurant. The food quality is fairly good. Our problem was the seating in the restaurant part of the premises. Our table was sited between the kitchen entrance and the doorway to the bar where the bar meals are served up. It was obviously a busy night for bar meals as the waiting staff continually trailed around our table and it was a bit like eating in a corridor.

my wife and I have just been to the Druid Inn and reading some remarks In was a little apprehensive but decided for Sunday lunch 19th June 2016. I have a mixed meat lunch and the wife had Turkey with lemon tart and bake well tart for deserts.I can honestly say from entering the pub the staff was so nice and polite and the food was fantastic the best Sunday lunch for a long while I must say. I would fully recommend this place and we will be going again when we visit Wales again, well done the Druid Inn.

Now reopened (Under new management?) with new furniture and a return to the quality and welcome of the past. When originally opened, the cafe offered a lovely "family feel" with excellent service and quality. The cafe had slumped badly in the quality of the experience in recent years, after a change of owners, and my previous visit had been quite unpleasant, so it was VERY refreshing to find a smiling welcome, rapid service and excellent coffee. The new tables are perhaps less rustic than the previous versions, which has lost a little of the atmosphere, but the cafe is scrupulously clean and retains the previous layout. The seating area is quite small and if you are planning to lunch there I would say that booking is essential. It does get very busy at times. The food is reasonably priced, though not "cheap" and the quality was excellent. Attention to detail has made a huge difference to the offering and it is clear that the bad memory of the past has been banished.

Booked a table for a Xmas lunch back in September. Arrived to the greeting you’ll have to wait an hour for food cos we’ve two big groups in. No apologies or would you like a drink while you wait. We were then told we couldn’t have the festive menu as we hadn’t preordered. I had emailed in September asking if they needed us to preorder and hadn’t received a reply so took it as no. Needless to say we didn’t bother staying for the food as the customer service was so bad
