Arrived early for a family event and fancied a cuppa and light lunch and discovered this gem of a cafe the Drovers Return in the midst of a woodland area at the entrance of Hunsbury Hill Country Park. Colin the owner was very welcoming as well as serving great English food and snacks. Very friendly customers especially the two off duty Tesco workers who were there with their dog Nala and (Dogs Menu) was a a nice touch. Interesting items displayed around the place adding to the rustic rough and ready decor. Great sense of humour filled the place during our brief visit. Will return when in the area.

It was nice for my wife and myself to drop in and have a cup of tea and a bacon roll and not be ripped off with the price friendly service. The bacon was cooked to as I like it and the gentleman behind the counter who I think owns it was very polite. The prices are very reasonable even if you've got a family. Things like ice creams were 75, pence or a pound.

Used to be great for breakfast bacon rolls after walking the dog but have now stopped going as on numerous occasions recently there has been no bacon.

We went for a walk around Hunsbury Hill country park and finished at the Drovers Return for a tea znd toasted teacake. The service was exceptional and the tea was served in a mug and was strong and hot, we had to wait a few minutes for the teacakes to be toasted and it was well worth it. Excellent food at fantastic prices.

Great little cafe nestled in Hunsbury Hill Park. A somewhat basic cafe but great for breakfast, a cuppa and a slice of homemade cake or a jacket spud. The menu is pretty extensive considering the size of the place. It’s quite small as it’s a converted public toilet block but having said that, it’s well laid out. There’s an outside seating area for dogs and their owners. They provide hooks to secure the dog lead to, together with bowls of water for your much loved pooch. This small establishment provides a Friendly, convenient and a much needed resting place while out for a Walk with your pet, with your family or while out walking alone. It’s within walking distance of Ladybridge Park and Hunsbury shops. They have a car park although it’s quite uneven but is fit for purpose, just drive slowly. The food is pretty good, although on this occasion, I found my buttered teacake could have benefited from a little more butter, and spread evenly over the entire teacake not just the middle. All in all though, a great little place to stop for refreshments !

This friendly little café is snuggled within Hunsbury Hill Park. Nothing plush about it but It offers a good little menu from full English breakfast to homemade cakes. They have the normal tea, coffee, green and fruit teas. They are dog & human friendly! They provide water and sometimes dog biscuits for your ‘fur babies’. A great little stop off at the end of your family/dog walk and is situated very close to a children’s playground. Wheelchairs would be a tight fit but doable if you speak to the friendly staff or alternatively it’s pleasant to sit in the out door area on a nice day. The single toilet is for patrons only and is very clean. There is a part tarmac, part gravel car park. Oh and they take payment by card too!

Slightly embarrassing that so many of my reviews are about breakfast. I am so embarrassed that here is another one. The Drovers Return Cafe Breakfast is very good - my son and I both had the optional black pudding just in case an artery had failed to congeal and neither of us regretted it. Well, not yet anyway! I enjoy eating in places where you can chat to the proprietor and other customers, for me a meal from hell would be a silent restaurant where everyone is scared to speak and the food/chef is venerated above the whole experience. I really liked the Drovers Return. There are also opportunities for dogs to exercise their owners (I seem to see quite a few who would benefit from this) and a railway which is run by train enthusiasts, although I have not seen this operating. Take the time for a walk here, this justifies a breakfast - or whatever you fancy - and you will feel better for it. Last thing. PLEASE can dog walkers clear up after their pooch? And I do not mean bag it up and then hang it on a branch, this is DISGUSTING. Rant over.

After taking your dog fot a walk on Hunsbury Hill there is no finer place to restore your energy A good varied menu, not just breakfast, at a very competitive price. The food is well prepared in front of your eyes and the service is always friendly with radio 2 to accompany your eating. A refill of tea and coffee is usually available and the bakewell tarts are always a welcome conclusion to your meal. All in all a great place to visit and very dog friendly!

We visited this cafe after walking our four dogs on Sunday morning. I wish I'd found it before! It is very dog friendly and the food is freshly cooked and is very 'clean'. My daughter and I had bacon and egg baps and my partner had bacon, sausage and egg bap. The dogs had a couple of freshly cooked sausages. The food came quickly and was so tasty. The prices are very good. We sat outside the cafe and it felt like we were in the middle of a forest rather than in the middle of a housing estate! Beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended, especially if you have dogs but they are not compulsory! Will definitely be visiting again.

What a little gem this place is based in the west Hunsbury country Park. We do a lot of Nordic Walking in and around this area and always use the cafe for our after walk drinks & food. The service is always warm, friendly and welcoming and they now know how we like our tea and have it ready as we walk down to the door. I cannot raise this place enough and it is great value for money too with a cuppa being only £1.00 and you get a free refill. Always fresh, always clean and a great atmosphere well done to all involved with this little gem.

come here often with my parents to walk their dog. My son is four and all the team who work at the cafe are so patient and welcoming to him he loves coming here and enjoys his sweets cake that he always orders. A lot of places treat children like an inconvenience but not here they are lovely. One lady showed my son in the right direction to use the toilet because he was to shy to go through the people eating by himself.

This was my first visit to The Drover's Return Cafe and it certainly won't be my last. There is a wide variety of food, desserts and drinks available on the menu. Because of the smell of bacon drifting towards me as we approached I chose a bacon and egg roll. It was freshly cooked with minimal waiting time and it tasted delicious. We sat outside at the tables enjoying the fresh air, although there is plenty of seating inside. They also have a selection of newspapers and children's toys to keep them occupied. The staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely be returning for more visits, I need to sample everything on the menu and try their yummy looking cakes. All food and drink was very reasonably priced.

Had afternoon tea here for a birthday treat with friends. It is a proper little tea room set I a beautiful building and garden. We had lovely food. Staff were friendly but, I was asked to pay halfway through the tea, which I found annoying as it was unnecessary and embarrassed my friend whose birthday we were celebrating.

OK place if you want to listen to the swearing in there, plenty of the F Words used by staff member called Sharon and man she was sitting with, there was children in there too. Food sub standard, poached egg like a hard boiled egg. Yes I should of complained but couldn't wait to get out of there. Only good thing was a decent cup of tea.

This is my 2nd visit to the daily grind first experience was ok just lacking the welcoming . So I decided to give them another go . I asked for a menu and they showed me the board but being short sighted I forgot my glasses . So they gave me a menu . After a little hassle found out it was an old menu not a the new one it did get sorted as I think the young lad whom sorted was the manager and gave me 10% off which was lovley of him . I know it's hard getting staff up to speed on a new set menu . Only suggestion I can make is make a little menu for bagels and toastie etc . Other than that second time was a good experience . The food is excellent and it has a cosy atmosphere to the place . Also had a yamyam delivery of these guys 4 stars again . Little room for improvement that's all
