Just returned from a fab lunch here with friends. We all chose the 2 courses for £16. Food was excellent from the huge Fish & Chips to the Open Steak sandwich. Deserts were even better Service with a smile too. Perfect ……thank you .

Booked at 6pm on a Saturday for a family meal with my 80yrs old mum . Found the bar and restaurant full of rowdy groups power drinking cocktails , shrieking and swearing at the top of there voices. When asked if we could move into a quieter space we’re told there’s 14 girls doing bottomless in there - this is the best area! Ate our mains and paid the bill. On leaving we couldn’t get out the front door for groups of drunk men standing either side of the steps . My mum needs a crutch and struggled to pass through. Such a shame it’s was a lovely place , now totally ruined by its choice of clientele. Wont be retuning and will be spreading this sad news.

During the heatwave we decided on a girly lunch.. so headed to The Drill for the BOOZY BRUNCH .. we were not disappointed. The choice of food on this lunch menu was really varied & there was plenty of choice for the AI drinks for the 2hr sitting. When the starters came they were freshly cooked & super hot. We both had the chicken burger which I would highly recommend it was flippin loverly ,the puddings were also amazing. We had an amazing meal, & compliments to the staff for being attentive during our two hour lunch. Would definitely recommend .. well worth £40pp

I booked a table for 3 adults and 2 babies and told The Drill on booking that we would need 2 high chairs. When I arrived they said they only had 3 high chairs and 2 of them were in use. This left only 1 high chair for our table. We therefore could not eat the drill as they did not have sufficient seats for our booking. They offered us nothing to say sorry. Disgusting service.

The new facelift of the restaurant is lovely but to top it off the food was great with huge portions and the staff were very attentive, totally on the ball! The complementary home made bread is also a nice touch. Externally it looked amazing dressed in Xmas lights. Can't wait to go back and try more home made cooking!

I have eaten at The Drill on a number of occasions and I find the food to be very good value for money, meals are tasty whether they be from the 'menu of the day' or the main menu. Service is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Its just a lovely countryside place for lunch or dinner.

Visited with 4 other people - family , waiter taken drinks order which was fine , 15 minutes later decided to fetch them from bar as they was standing going flat, no worries so , food order taken , hour and 10 minutes laters food arrived which I can only describe as burnt to a crisp fish and batter the worst I’ve seen, why the chef let this leave the pass and why the waiter brought this rubbish out beggars belief, over cooked steak medium asked for got well done, and pepper sauce arriving 15 minutes later, shocking food and not cheap sure to never return to this place again, think chef needs to change his career !!!, I say chef lightly !!!

Must give 100% Credit to these guys, they pulled out all the stops to ensure our daughter's christening went smoothly, from putting up our decorations, to excellent food & fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for making our day so perfect. We will definitely be back.

First off The Drill is my favourite pub in our area, so maybe a little biased. BUT something has changed, not sure if it's changed hands or what but we went at the end of June for an anniversary lunch and noticed that the lovely old wooden bar had been over painted ( lost a lot of the character doing that ), the table staff we hadn't seen before, they were OK but not as good, and the food just wasn't up to the usual high standards. It may have been an off day for some reason but I hope its not the shape of things to come.

we opted for the set menu two people, three courses for twenty pound. the food was fresh wholesome, although gaps inbetween courses were a little slow. the clientel and food was excellent well worth the wait. Generous portions for a set menu, the service was good and friendly especially "chad" behind the bar/waiter.

Met a group of friends here for lunch. We choose from the menu board and can certainly recommend the steak pie with chips & veg - £6! Puddings from the board were £2 and the rhubarb crumble was excellent. The service was good. In good weather there is plenty of outside seating in a garden and at the front of the pub.

The Sunday we went in, a large party was getting served and this might have slowed down service a bit. We ended up ordering our own drinks from the bar, on the tab, both before and during our meal. Staff were a bit slow to take our food order too. However when the food arrived, it was very nice. The meat was delicious, with a good gravy, roasties were small and not very many but loads of other veg and offers of more of those if we wanted them. The scrap of clingfilm on the veg dish suggested they'd been microwaved but I couldn't fault them despite this - perfectly cooked and just the right temperature. Starters were nice too. Price per couple was £35 including a decent tip.

We only come here for a drink as we are locals to the area but always find the pub staff very friendly and helpful when we go.There is a nice selection of real ale to choose from and soft drinks to.They do hold a beer festival as well at least once a year which is a real treat to go along to.

We visited the Drill with friends, and we had the 3 course menu. The roast was exceptional, and the dessert the best I have and in a long time. Starters of mushrooms were good too. The only downside is that the tables seemed a bit cramped in a tight space. The next table had quite a few very noisy children on. It was hard to hold a conversation.

First visit to The Drill, and what a wonderful find! This is so not pub grub, in any shape or form. The menu is good, but doesn't begin to give you an idea of the excellence of the food. We had the spicy chicken wings and the chorizo and warm potato salad to start, both of which were superb. We both had the Lamb Henry as mains and it was exceptional. Cooked perfectly, generous portion sizes (though we could have eaten more vegitables!) and ended with the jam sponge, and the chocolate profiterole one, both were gorgeous. Our bill for two of us with drinks was only just over £60 and we though this was great value. The staff were warm, welcoming and professional, and they knew and understood the menu perfectly, and answered any questions we had. I cant recommend this restaurant highly enough, we will definitely be back, and would happily work our way through the entire menu!!! Top marks to all concerned!

Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired- would not recommend. The cauliflower cheese was still frozen- when we told this to the staff, we only got an ‘oh no’ comment. Wouldn’t waste your time
