Walked in with my wife and immediately felt the staff were under pressure they had little time and were rude. We were then sat near a group of lads opening vaping. I asked to move seats but they told me they were too busy. We left and spoke to the manager who had said she told staff to move our seats and I pointed out the vaping going. I’ve since spoken to others and they too complained about the poor service. We were there for a Sunday dinner. Have went loads of times before but it has went way down hill.

Fantastic..staff friendly. The Food was good snd the.beer was cold. Party bus was there and was free which is fantastic. Will definitely be back. Thanks.for a great Sunday 👍

Great for kids and adults. Kids meals are very reasonably priced and a nice touch is that they provide menus with pictures on them and crayons to keep them entertained. Adult meals are also fantastic though I have only tested Sundays. The mustard roast ham is especially amazing. Alcohol is a little more expensive than you would expect for a community bar and restaurant but still well worth it. Excellent outside area.

Was here last Friday for a few drinks and one of the bartenders tried to refuse service when asked for tap water. Don't know if he thought this was funny, but happened to me and two friends I was with each time we went up to the bar. Any ideas why some of your staff would do this?

This place really needs to close at this point. Bring back the kings head, that’s the last time this place was anyway decent. Food is bad the service is bad, that’s the reason we haven’t been here in so long, and we live so close which means it would be a local to go too. You have a 241 cocktail promo on at the minute, so we thought give them the benefit of the doubt and let’s go for a couple, went in, the pace has mayb 10 people at 8:30 Saturday nite, asked for 2 cocktails and was told it would be 20 mins??? lol what a joke, false advertising, needless to say we left… such a waste of a good venue and a great spot, but management just can’t seem to get it right.

knew we were vegan. the only vegan meal offered was risotto, very undercooked rice with a strong stock cube, hyper price. to add insult to injury when we ordered standard pina coladas i checked later to see they changed the recipe and added MILK without telling us!!!!! if i had the energy id sue

Didn't have food - we were there for pre drinks for the Springsteen concert. Class place - although packed service was good. Good range of drinks think I tried most of them. If your up that way for a concert get yourself in there for a few pints

Food not great. Bar man bit weight about him. Let me tell you my friend the Bar game is not for you. No eye contact no talking to the customer. You seemed like you never wanted to be there. Now other staff in restaurant another man and girl were fine. But to this guy! Honestly Bar game not for you.

We went to the Doyen for dinner and a few drinks. We had arancini and croquettes as starters which were nice. For dinner I had the open steak sandwich for £20 which was good. My wife had the Mac and cheese with prawns and chorizo with a garlic ciabatta which was £19. This was really tasteless and watery and tasted like it came from a packet. There was 3 big lumps of chorizo and 3 chewy prawns. The ciabatta was uncooked with what looked like margarine spread over the top. Most of it was eaten as we were very hungry but for £19 you would expect something decent. We mentioned to the guy in charge who said he would pass in our issue to the chef but we didn't see him again...

Went yesterday to watch The Rugby, had a meal, we were disappointed that there was no dietary alternatives when we asked the staff could a dietary requirement be met we were just told No, we were here last year for the Rugby and they did have dietary preferences. We then asked for a plain burger with just onions, to be told it would be £1.50 extra for the onions..... now that is just ridiculous. We then headed into the bar where we ordered cocktails which were delicious, but when we went to order a second one we were told they had stopped selling cocktails..... it was only 10pm, overall a disappointing visit compared to previous years

Barstaff were fine, quick and polite, god help them dealing with some of the scumbags that drink in there, Guinness was good, food was OK . Great if you like drunken bald fat bloke's or bitter foul mouthed women .

Didn't have a Meal but a great place for a few drinks and unwhine after a day's work....again a Brampton Canadian visiting Family....

Disgusted I’m not sure if it was an ageist decision or not, but on arrival the employee behind the bar signalled over to the employee seating us that my family and I should sit for Sunday lunch in the back bar. The employee then mumbled that it was due to “lots of bookings” for the front restaurant. I was surprised as only 2 tables at this stage were occupied in the front restaurant. We were well presented - I would have happily walked into e.g. the Merchant for lunch that day. Later when I went into the front area to ask for the bill I could see all the empty tables still empty so the “lots of bookings” excuse was obviously incorrect. I made sure to walk with my mum and dad out of the bar exit to hope they wouldn’t also realise what had happened. Not a nice start to what was taking my mum out for a birthday lunch. Would not recommend.

Was relatively surprised with the food, expecting pub grub and getting restaurant quality. Ordered the Cauliflower Fritters and Chorizo on Naan for starters and then the Pull Pork Sandwich for main. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. For added entertainment, I would recommend the quiz on a Thursday.

Went here for a staff Christmas meal December 2024. Very busy and popular on a Saturday night. Main bar had a nice vibe, busy but not too crowded. Fast service. Several other staff meals were happening in the large and modern function room. Food was served well and efficiently. Good quality for something produced in such high volume. There must have been 200 there that night. A DJ was playing after the meal. Far too loud for my liking, but loads of others were up dancing and having a great time. The Doyen is a bit out of town, so difficult to get to; it's a taxi ride from town.

Called in for Christmas drinks bar staff so rude had an attitude problem drom the start not only with us but with all customer he was serving. After a few times at bar and still getting attitude asked his name to reply Mattew whats that got to don with you asked for manger to be told all busy then one came to tell us sorry about it but at same time didn’t seem to care and told use was covering from other bar. Avoid with all cost over priced drinks and rude bar staff.

Overpriced and no atmosphere. Avoid any bars run by wine inns. They are nothing but a money racket. This bar used to be great when it was the kings head but wine inns ruined it and ran out all the regulars. Mark up on drink is ridiculous. Near £6 for every pint and a Guinness is £6. Guinness zero is £5.50!!! This bar and the company are a sham. Avoid all bars run by Wine Inns.

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday at around 5.30pm and as expected it was really quiet. Service was great though maybe a little fast with no real break between courses. Starters were ok but to be honest not great and the mains even worse! We've been on a Sunday for the roast dinners and they are nice so I was surprised at this experience. Starter: - Goats cheese salad - really should be called a beetroot salad. - Crispy chicken wings - not so crispy but still nice! Mains: - Pea & asparagus risotto- boring half way through and the 'garlic bread' was truly awful! - Fish and chips - I've had this many times in many places, this was the worst! The fish had zero flavour though the batter was lovely. The chips were hard, tasted of bad oil and luckily came as a child's portion. Dessert - I thought to myself, it's hard to do a bad crumble... I was wrong!!! Oh and the drinks were flat!

I took my mother to the Doyen for a late lunch after a hospital appointment. We were shown to a lovely table by the window, the only nice part of this experience. We ordered soup and asked for it extra hot, when it arrived it was tepid. I asked for it to be warmer and was told it was a health and safety issue. I had to ask for it to be reheated which to 15 minutes. The resultant soup whilst hot , we thin and lacking in taste. When the main course arrived my mothers was quite nice , my katzu curry was again tepid, with the curry sauce congealed and the chicken and rice was totally submerged in the congealed sauce. Again I asked for this to be returned, and was advised it would take 10 minutes to re cook. It took 15 minutes to have the food re cooked , it was returned at least hot but served poorly in a small bowl with none of the vegetables indicated on the menu and overcooked rice. When the waiter enquired if it was better, I could only say the temperature was better but the meal was way below average. It took 25 minutes for a glass of wine to be served also. The staff were apologetic but unhelpful, stating the chef said it was fine, when it clearly was not A very poor experience and we will not return

Absolute top quality service all round, we had a 30th birthday party for my wife and friends in the private Telephone room. Before booking Andrew the manager made me feel welcome and invited me down to view and talk about the room to see if it was what I was looking for, it was all hassle free from the start. It was a perfect spot and everyone was complementing the room, comfy chairs with a private outdoor area with heaters. Great for all occasions, Andrew and the Team at the doyen were superb and I can't thank them enough.

Called in for a late lunch, few pints and to watch the rugby. Steak sandwich was great, no pepper sauce with it but the pepper mayo was a suitable alternative. Been before and will be back again I'm sure.

I love this bar, it's quirky layout and great service makes it a great hangout for a few beers and some good food. Highly recommended.

Not normally one for leaving reviews but thought I’d make the exception this time. Booked one of the function rooms for my Sons Birthday party 6/7 months ago after this venue coming highly recommended. Was made to feel very welcome during my first visit and chat with the manager Andy on this visit we agreed dates and a brief rundown of what we were looking. As promised I was contacted several weeks before the party to arrange a further meeting to finalise things. We were met again by Andy who sat us down and gave us loads of options, based on the info we gave him. Room size, food options, entertainment, decorations and tailored a package to suit the number of guests. Andy was actually on Holiday the over the weekend of the Party but made sure before he left that all was in place and providing me with a point of contact in his absence. contact numbers, and times that I could access the room that day. True to form on the afternoon of the party the room was made available to us that we could work away with, balloons, pictures, banners, cake and all the usuals trappings. The night could not have went smoother, it was a surprise party so all the guests were allowed to use the rear entrance of the function room incase we crossed paths on the way in, the staff were brilliant, food was top notch and brought out exactly on the time previously arranged, the recommend Dj again on time and top class and a special mention the the bar staff who managed to keep the drink flowing all night dealing with some serious seasoned Pint drinkers, fair play. The amount of guests who messaged me after and the next few days thanking me for the invite all mentioned at some point how good the place was, staff, food, bar and entertainment. Basically what I’m saying here is that if you are thinking of booking a venue in Belfast for what ever type of party/function you’d be hard to find a better place than the Doyen. I honestly cannot recommend this venue enough. One thing that sticks out most is I actually received an email from Andy on the day of the party wishing me all the best and one the day after, talk about customer service, unreal…. Remember this guy is on Annual leave and away somewhere foreign if I remember right. Thanks again Andy and all the Doyen team for a great night, hope to sees yous again soon.

Myself and a group of work colleagues had a reservation a large party. we arrived and had our drink order taking by our waitress Niamh who was very attentive knowing exactly when to return to upsell further drinks. i must add that the cocktails went down a treat we had a mixure of coctails made by Matthew and Jason not only where the coctails very tasty they didn't take long to be made which is a bonus. Food was served promptly and we had the lovley waitress Cara checking back on us to ensure all was to our liking (Thumbs up from all at our table) The atmosphere was great with the group playing in the background but nice enough to hear conversation from the other side of the table. We will definitely return for our monthly night out, Thank you to Niamh ,Cara, Matthew & Jason for making our night enjoyable.

The Doyen is an excellent location. Plenty of places to sit both indoors and outside. The drink selection is pretty good as well, in fact very good. The food is also very good indeed. The only problem is with the service. The service is slow and I can be patient, but when a server appears cold or rude or just doesn’t seem to get it, that people pay good money for this experience. I’m sure that I would pull all of the team together and drive home that our customers are to be treated with respect and dignity. This would place the Doyen in the excellent category. I’m still going back for the food drinks though.

Fantastic beer garden. Previously had a bad experience here with the bouncers but enjoyed a nice quiet afternoon here, on a hot Sunday. Good drink selection, friendly staff and probably also decent for sport.

This place is a sham female servers are terrible. Food good but the female servers are so rude. They are so unprofessional. Won't be back. They don't sell Gordon's gin or even bombay sapphire.

Terrible experience. Female staff so rude and unprofessional. If they don't like customers they should leave. Our drink was thrown down. They tried to take away drink not finished after being told it was not finished with. Obviously they don't like large groups we were a group of 8. Male staff so friendly. Food was good. Won't be back and will definitely not recommend to friends. Such a shame as its a lovely venue. Someone needs to train their female staff .

Really nice Sunday Roast, 2 courses for £22. Service staff were friendly and attentive. Pints were a little expensive, £6.15 for Citra IPA.

We went here for our 1 year wedding anniversary after a show at the Opera House. Hadn’t eaten here before so didn’t know what to expect. The food on this occasion was excellent and quite different to what we’ve had in other places. Braised beef x 2 and sticky toffee / berry crumble for dessert. Lovely! My only gripe was the attitude of one of the staff. I got the attention of a staff member before we sat down to ask where we can sit and eat, but she didn’t even acknowledge or say hello and just looked at me blankly and advised to sit downstairs and then turned her back and carried on. Definitely not how you first greet a customer! I’ve worked in hospitality / customer service, and first impression is everything. Also ordered a second pint of beer which took forever to come - can only imagine it was forgotten about. Not sure we’ll be back based on the staff. I’m sure there’s loads of other establishments that cater the same but with better trained staff.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty. It was the Easter special dinner menu. They were able to cater to gluten and mild dairy intolerances.

Very nice atmosphere, with lovely decor. I was really impressed with my starter of Chilli Squid and my main course of Chicken Supreme. The food was delicious and very well presented. Lovely, friendly and efficient staff made the evening run smoothly. I was part of a very big group of c. 20 people, so it was quite incredible to be served so quickly with food of such a high standard. I would thoroughly recommend The Doyen for group bookings and will definitely look forward to coming back again.

We like the Doyen because of its spacious car parking and speedy service. Back again after a few weeks for late afternoon (3.30pm) Sunday Lunch. Not too busy so service was speedy as usual and there was a wide range of offerings on the menu. I went for the house burger, which came with several sauces, lettuce, cheese, a big gherkin on top and a pot of chunky chips on the side. Very tasty. Wife and daughter chose to dine on a selection of starters including fish cakes, crispy squid, beetroot with goat’s cheese and chunky chips. We all shared two desserts cheesecake and fruit crumble. Lovely. With drinks £70. Not cheap but worth it. We’ll be back.

Great food ,great value for money n great staff

Went for Easter Dinner with the family and the rest of them had a nice time, with a good selection of roasts on offer for them! Service was also very good given that it was a busy holiday. However, veggie options were very limited and clearly a basic afterthought! No vegan starters or desserts, and the only vegan main was a risotto that I found quite flavourless, though the chestnuts in it were a nice addition. Settled for vegetarian options for starter and dessert as everyone else in our group was having three courses, and, to be fair; they were nice (goats cheese salad, and Sticky toffee pudding), but the mains were unfortunately either a risotto or a tomato pasta, the stereotype of bad vegetarian menus everywhere. For the same price as a roast dinner on a set menu, I would have loved a vegetarian roast as an option: portobello mushroom, a nut roast, or even just some roasted veggies of some kind!

Had a nice meal and pint. Staff friendly and efficent. Returned for a birthday celebration recently. The room was excellent. The food was great and the staff and in particular the manager Adam were extremely attentive, nothing was too much bother. A great night was had by all. I couldn’t fault anything at all. I would highly recommended The Doyen if you’re planning a gathering or celebration.

10 of us went yesterday for dinner. All of us loved the food. However the waitress went out of her way to be rude at every point, making snide comments. Making a lot of us feel uncomfortable.

Fantastic views. It is also pet friendly. That is outside part of cafe. On a summer's morning I can't think of anywhere better for breakfast.

Lovely food, friendly staff, a cosy interior... What more could you want? A few times a year, I meet up with two childhood friends, and we do spend quite a while over our meal. Staff at The Doyen didn't seem to mind this at all! Top marks for their welcoming attitude. We ordered the salted chilli squid starter (loved the Asian slaw!), the chicken skewer starter, the fishcakes starter, and for our mains, the nduja mac 'n' cheese. It was all beautifully cooked and delicious!

I had calamari which was obviously not freshly made but frozen. it was tough and tasteless. my companion had honey chilli chicken which was hard and flavourless. the only palatable dish was the soup. really a pretty awful dining experience.

Saw a few bad reviews but decided to take a chance and glad I did. The food was excellent and the servce too. Will def be back.

Food was fine, but service was shocking. Having to wait ages to order but also having to go up to ask for things missing from the order, drinks for example. Kids meals and baby bowls served last, had to go up 3 times to ask for ketchup and then when they brought us our dessert menus they never came back so kids didn’t get their dessert with their meal which was included in price, 30 mins waiting to order dessert so we just paid and went on. Won’t be back. Some of your staff are so rude and we’re too busy standing behind bar having a conversation which is absolutely fine if you have served all of your customers. I try not to leave bad reviews as it could just be a bad day but upon speaking to some of my friends who live in the area they would all agree it’s very poor service.

Went here to try there new menu 2 main courses and bottle of wine for 40 pounds and it was absolutely fantastic and the service was also very good 👍

We decided not to go for mains so we worked with the menu for “Small Plates” and Starters. We all had the soup as a starter, it was a blended (creamed) vegetable soup exactly to my taste, and tasted good, coming with a very small piece of brown wheaten bread and a pat of butter (not chilled, easy spread, thank you!). My second course was a “small plate” of picked crab on toast. It was a really small portion, so although tasty, disappointing. Our friend had the small plate prawn cocktail which was more substantial. A shared apple crumble with ice cream proved a satisfying dessert. Our friend had a chocolate brownie. We concluded with a tea and coffees. The food was good and the service fast and pleasant. Would go back but probably go for mains next time instead of “small plates”.

We got seated quickly but it took over 20 mins and out own intervention to get a food order. Food arrived within a decent time frame but lacked the quality to match the price tag. Its a good bar, but a less than average restaurant

Ordered beef Sunday dinner which came as two steaks, I didn't realise and wasn't to my liking. No problem at all, was changed to chicken and the entire plate was to die for. Great, friendly service!

Visited for lunch with friends . Ordered off the specials menu vegetable soup and coronation chicken sandwich . Soup was not traditional vegetable but tasted like pureed squash , the sandwich was made with thick pan stale bread with a bit of tomato and maybe one bit of chicken and mayo . Got a free coffee as compensation which I really didn't want I would rather have had a nice fresh sandwich , how hard is that ?

Service is so poor. Wait time to give our order and have plates collected was ages - it wasn't busy. Had to go and look for staff twice, once to ask for dips we'd ordered and I was told you should have ordered them with food (we did) the second time to ask someone to clear the table and take a desert order. I had a roast - ham was lovely but the veg included hard carrots and parsnips with no glaze. For £18 you'd expect a bit of effort in the cooking of the veg. Won't be back.

Can only speak of having drinks here but it as a handy venue, right beside the train station. Plentiful outdoor seats which are in great shape after a recent refurb. Inside still has a comfy feel. A great setting for a drink or two. Just a shame that aside from train station, it is relatively inaccessible outside of cars.

Great food, great service. Only had soft drink as driving. the refurbishment is lovely. Very handy and free parking. Didn't have to book for lunch, just dropped in. Bit pricey for what we ate, but nowhere else is any better value.

We booked for 12 as part of a works day out. Really great and friendly service with plenty of craic. Interior is lovely and homely. Nice variety on the menu covering all basis. Reasonably priced and most enjoyable!

Excellent food, reasonably priced. Attentive and friendly staff. Called in Saturday late afternoon fearing we wouldn't be taken as the place was buzzing however very friendly gentleman showed us to the bar area, restaurant being fully booked. A new menu I believe, we will certainly be back to sample more of the delights on offer.

Refreshingly clean, bright and friendly and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of South Belfasts busyness and noise. Food excellent with a menu hard to choose from. We'll be back, most definitely. Mags
