Been dying to visit ever since I watched a clip on line and this place did not disappoint! As you walk in through the doors you can literally feel the history all around you. Ornate and beautiful wood panelling around, wooden stools and the chatter of everyone inside, perfect place to stop in and have some drinks and chill. If you are looking for something authentic this is definitely the place for you.

This was the first bar we went to because it was opposite our hotel and he had heard a lot about it. It lived up to its reputation. The decor is side was outstanding. It’s was also the first pint of Guinness I had in Belfast it was very yummy 🤤. I would definitely recommend going in here.

This place is so adorable that it needs to be on your list of places to visit in Belfast. I love the Victorian décor, from the beautiful wood carvings and etched glass to the elaborate bar, textured ceiling, gas lamps, and tile work. Exquisite! I forgot to make reservations for a snug, so we ate upstairs instead. We all had Irish stew and it was delicious. We will be back and next time I will remember to reserve a snug ahead of time.

After the waitress had told us half of the menu was not available I settled for mussels and fries whilst my partner ordered chicken burger and fries so nothing special or difficult, when my mussels came they were dried up on top like they had been sat under a heatlamp whilst the ones lower down were lukewarm at best, my Partners burger was cooked to the texture of cardboard whilst also served lukewarm, both portions of fries were like they had been cooked several times over. Maybe if they had cooked the food on the radiator that we were almost sat on top of the food would have been as hot as we were. We are in Belfast on a long weekend and have eaten out for every meal, this was beyond bad. It was by far a fading light in a universe of high star rated food. Paid the full bill despite expressing our dissatisfaction and left feeling rather sad.

Very disappointing food. I was looking forward to a lentil and roast veg “Pie” I’d seen the pies advertised in the website, they looked delicious, however mine came without the pie bit, it was a dish of watery vegetables bland and forgettable, with dreadful frozen mixed veg on the side. We complained to our waiter who told us that this complaint was flagged up often. (?) My only regret it that I didn’t send it straight back. In a venue this iconic the food is sadly lacking. My partner was disappointed with his also, with below par muscles and nasty frozen chips! Cmon crown! You really need to sort this out.

Pub has a stunning interior and the bar is lovely, Not the best place to have a meal if you solo traveller with a disability. Sad, in this day and age Came to Belfast for a New Year break and I have autism and find it hard to communicate especially in new places. I went up to the bar and asked about the meals they do and then was told to go upstairs I then went upstairs and waited and waited until finally I walked over to the upstairs bar to get someone’s attention and they told me to go back and wait to be seated. Then I got a table shoved in the corner behind a pillar with armchair seats and A large portion of the menu was unavailable to order. I ordered my meal and the got asked what drink would I want but I didn’t want one the lady said I will be back when you have chosen a drink. Feeling pressured to buy a drink I found a drink to have, I waited a while and then I flagged down another member of staff and said my choice of drink. Then a couple minutes later a guy came upstairs (later discovered he was the man in charge) said come downstairs please (x3) whilst I was puzzled has to why he wants me to go downstairs. I then went downstairs and he then said please leave and I asked what have I done wrong (x2) and he replied I am not welcome and then on the third time of me asking what I had done wrong he said your type aren’t welcome and threatened to phone the police so I left and put a dampener on the New Year break
