Loved this place! A most visit in Belfast.

Didn't have the food so can't comment but loved this place!

Not as good as it used to be, certainly not value for money. Had Crown fish and chips. See photo. Miserable amount. Then had "Lemon", tart. Certainly not what I expected, was more like raspberry tart. Sorry I missed photo before eating. Pastry was as hard as a rock. Wouldnt repeat.

Decent Guinness in this beautiful and quaint pub. Food was average, long wait to be seated upstairs, despite booking. Waitresses are helpful and friendly. I have waited a long time to visit The Crown, and am glad I did. A Belfast must do.

We went upstairs to Nichokson's for a bite to eat. We had amazing service and delicious food. And then back downstairs for some drinks. Wonderful experience all around!

Its a beautiful place an we enjoyed it very much but be aware that is gets very crowded and loud after work hours. Staff did great considering how busy they were.

A step back in time to a victorian wateringhole in Belfast

The selection of drinks is great, with a good range of local beers and whiskeys. If you’re hungry, the food is solid, traditional pub fare—nothing overly fancy but always tasty. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Belfast, whether you’re a history buff, a fan of architecture, or just someone who loves a good pint in an incredible setting.

Some menu items not available. Burger overcooked,dry and chewy. No mustard available. Partners burger was fine. Chips undercooked and anemic looking.

Avoid the steak… it was full of gristle and fat. The service was bad. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Such good pub food!! Possibly our favorite favorite meal in Belfast. We had the pies, the stew and the sausage and champ, all absolutely delicious classics done to perfection!

I phoned before we arrived due to the heavy traffic. My booking was put back 30 minutes and I was assured my table would still be available for us. I didn't get the bar person's name but she thanked me for phoning.

Pub really is a spectacle! How original congratulations!!

We had the Irish stew and the meatloaf with Guiness sauce, as well as a plate of mac&cheese. The stew had 2 measly pieces of lamb, it was just pieces of potato and carrot, so a £10 dish seems quite expensive to me. In addition to that, it barely had any flavor even though the broth had a very dark and concentrated color, the butter and bread that was served as an accompaniment were better (see if it's sad...). The meatloaf was more of the same, it had hardly any flavor and with pieces of meat that were too large like the dough on top, it seemed like you were eating a bread empanada. And the Guiness sauce, although it was very good, was not noticeable if you poured it over the empanada. The mac&cheese had cheddar on top, you could accompany it with pieces of smoked bacon. Well, that's it, a plate of macaroni and cheese, perfect for the little ones. As for the service, both girls were very friendly, they took us to the table immediately and explained to us those dishes that were not available. They made themselves understood despite the strong Irish accent, so it wasn't difficult for us to understand them at all. Very attentive at all times to know if everything was to our liking and if we needed anything else. The place is worth visiting because of how beautiful it is more than because of the food, and it was recommended to us by a guide in the area.

We reserved a snug and had an awesome time. Loved this place!

Went for the recommended Guinness

Nice atmosphere, I found it an interesting bar due to the fact it's got various private booths you can sit inside. The Guinness is good here.

Amazing little place although standing room only so if you want to sit down you'd have a wait! Jam packed we were squashed into a corner. With it being so busy be prepared for a wait to be served, but we'll worth the experience.

Beautiful old pub downstairs. Not so much upstairs where we had to go to have something to eat. This was around 3pm on a weekday. Food nothing really special which was really disappointing. I had a mature cheese and chutney sandwich expecting thick chunks of Irish bread; instead it was just a couple of slices of standard packet bread. My two companions had pie and champ. They said it was tasty but very small portions particularly for the price. Guinness was good though.

Great atmosphere in the bar of this iconic place and that’s where it ends. We booked for dinner and we’re running a bit late so phoned to ask if we could put our booking back by half an hour but this was not possible. We got there and the restaurant was half empty, on a Saturday night, and that was how it remained throughout our stay. Difficult to see how us moving our reservation was such a problem?! The food was very mediocre to say the least, including a steak and Guinness pie which was not cooked properly with raw pastry on the bottom and had hardly any gravy in it. Very disappointing.

To be clear this review is of the restaurant not the bar. Very disappointing food. Vegetarian 'pie' was the size of a plane meal some lentils and vegetables topped with a tiny amount of hash...less than on a crumble! No pastry to be seen. Steak and Guinness pie- meat was grey and tough with gristle, the pastry was ok. Ordered a side of chips and even these were basic. Gravy was pretty tasteless. This place is living on tourists particularly for food. Mentioned both issues to the waitress who just shrugged and said sorry and moved off. Would not recommend at all would get much better value elsewhere. Basically an overpriced Harvester. We were sorry to have to leave a bad review because we looked forward to visiting. Was a Sunday night but not sure this excuses it.

This is a great place to visit for dinner and drinks! Food was awesome, but the service was less than adequate for the crowd they had when we were there. Our hostess and waitress said there is a staffing shortage which explains the long wait we had to be seated and then to get our food/drinks. So be prepared! If they can fix their staffing issues, this would be a really outstanding place!!

Popped in for a quick pint during a layover between flights. Stayed for a second pint and supped a pint of the beautiful Belfast Black stout whilst looking in awe at the stunning surroundings. There can't be many pubs of this calliber left these days so savour every last one of them. A treasure of an establishment with an excellent team behind the bar. This should be on ant tourist's 'to do' list and I'm only sorry I couldn't stay longer. Definitely hope to return. Extra thanks to Michael behind the bar for the very warm welcome and giving some of the history of this remarkable public house.

This is possibly the most outrageous interior in a pub ever! Loved it

Took a while to write this as my phone was stuck to the table, bar staff could do a bit of cleaning. Beautiful interior, but one of the worst pints of Guinness I’ve had in Belfast.

The food is really good, I had the steak pie and a pint of Belfast Black, it's also a lovely original pub spot.

Obviously hugely popular. We were recommended to try The Crown Liquor Saloon out on our recent trip to Belfast. Unfortunately, we found the pub packed to the brim when we arrived on Friday lunchtime. So full of people in fact, there was nowhere comfortable to stand, nowhere to sit and little chance of even reaching the bar to order a drink. Sad to leave after a few minutes, but that level of trade was not what we were looking for. I guess it is a major tourist trap, along with local trade. We walked across the pub on the next corner and got seats and some great Guinness there. Super decor, by the way. Maybe we can try again when it is quieter one day.

Was recommended this place by several ppl, so was looking forward to a good old pie dinner Sadly we where left very disappointed, meat in pie was bad, mash had never seen a potato as was definitely packet smash, veg over cooked, gravy straight from a tin and not to mention the hair inbeded in our onion ring Front of house staff was very nice, and seemed to agree and take our complaint seriously Seemed to be a lot of new staff on duty, poor girls rushed off their feet along with dealing with complaints through no fault of their own Definitely wouldn't recommend here or go back

Friendly, not too busy or noisy. Excellent furnishings. Accessible ground floor.

I do NOT recommend it to eat. Just to have a beer at the bar (an old and very nice place). Where you have lunch/dinner is the upper floor and it is just a dining room. Tasteless food.

The surroundings were amazing, the food delicious and the staff excellent. It was busy and there were people who were turned away, so I would recommend booking in advance.

What a venue! Character, great food, a fantastic Guinness and whisky, plus the atmosphere is so friendly and lively. 1st night visited for drinks, 2nd for food as we loved it so much, food was excellent. Highly recommended for a visit!

We were recommended this place by a friend who was in awe of the establishment's incredible interior. To The Crown Liquor Saloon's credit, it is certainly beautiful. However, this is the only praise I can offer following my experience there on a quiet Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, after waiting 10 minutes to be served by one of the three bartenders, who were more interested in clearing glasses and reorganizing liquor than serving customers, we were finally attended to by a gentlemen who asked what we wanted. Before we could finish placing our order, he turned away and left. We proceeded to wait another 5 minutes for the bartender to return while his two colleagues simply walked by us and the few other people waiting to be served. To add to the insult, we attempted to ask one of the other bartenders for assistance but we were promptly ignored as she went to serve new patrons who arrived long after us. Needless to say, we were exceptionally frustrated and left hungry and in need of a drink.

The overwhelming feeling I got from this place is that we were not wanted. We were told we needed reservations, so we made them. And we waited while 1/2 the restaurant was empty the entire time. When we did get seated we were told we only had 90 mins at the table. We didn't even need that much time. But we were wrong. It took 20 mins to get our order in, another 30 to get the food, multiple reorders to get the food right. When one of us asked for dessert we were reminded that we only had the table for 90 mins and there wasn't a lot of time left (20 mins). Over all the service was poor and IDK if they were understaffed or just inefficient. I got the Steak and Guinness pie, my pie was mostly fat and gristle chunks of meat, the rest was quite good.

Very nice decoration on the ground floor, the food was average and the portions were not very generous.

Old, stylish and with a unique history in the world. Perfect for a small stop, have a Guinness at a good price and continue. The small rooms are perfect for getting together with your friends and not being bothered by anyone.

Lovely food in a historic atmosphere with gracious attentive staff but it is extremely popular and almost entirely frequented by tourists these days so getting a table is tricky without booking ahead at least a day in advance.

It's a beautiful pub, with spectacular decorations. We went there precisely for the pleasure of enjoying that environment.

Very popular place but a must-see Been told that on first visit you should wipe your feet on the mosaic crown in the doorway. Didn't have food but it looked good.

Staff on the whole were great but a drinks order was forgotten. Food was just OK, Mussels were not very hot and overall portion including fries and bread was a little small.

The bar is beautiful and very unique. We managed to get a snug which was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the food was nice, traditional pub food.

Fantastic venue in Belfast, with a lively and friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed being seated in a booth whilst dining, and the food and beer were great. Andy in particular, who was serving us, was excellent - nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend on all fronts!

Not to miss. Belfast Black memorable taste. I had fish and chips which I recommend as very tasteful, not greasy and ample serving of fish and mushy peas. So good !

The Crown Saloon is undoubtedly one of the best pubs in Belfast! We visited on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to secure one of their charming booths. The ambiance is truly unmatched, with the traditional decor adding to the experience. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Andy, in particular, was fantastic—he offered excellent recommendations on both food and drinks, making the evening even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and the selection of drinks was top-notch. If you’re looking for a great spot in Belfast to unwind with friends, I can’t recommend The Crown Saloon enough!

Had a few beers before leaving for the airport, food is excellent,beers are well priced and staff very very friendly.

So it definitely has to be separated. Go to the pub for a beer. Great, everything perfect. The restaurant is not worth the money at all. I had a reservation. Luckily, it doesn't work without it. However, it takes an unnaturally long time to get assigned a table. Drink was OK. The food comes after a reasonable amount of time, but the burger is comparatively small and very hard. Spices are missing. The fries were inedible. Totally hard and no taste. There were no sauces or ketchup. The onion rings, which only wanted to be ordered extra, came without sour cream. And pepperoni on the burger, which I didn't order. Just go to the bar to drink, eat better elsewhere.

Bar: Gorgeous bar, nightmare service. The bartenders are too busy talking about nothing to make a single drink, and when they do it's the wrong one. I appreciate that the building is 180 years old, but I would absolutely love if it smelled less like diarrhea. 1/10 Restaurant: Excellent. Exceptional service. Pay at the bar (they don't tell you always, so be sure to ask!) Don't order the nachos if you have ever had nachos before. The Mac and cheese is actually penne Alfredo. 9/10!

Busy pub, a must see we were told. Good beer selection. We didn't get to enjoy dinner because we hadn't made a reservation or booking as they say over here

I am visiting from Australia and my friends took me to the Crown Saloon for a pint and a meal. We pre-booked a table for the restaurant upstairs. The place was buzzing on a Friday night. Our waitresses Rhiannon, Amy and Charlotte gave our table excellent customer service. Amy recommended l try the Belfast Black Stout and even offered me a small sample to test. It is a delicious stout, darker and ever slightly sweeter than Guinness. When in Rome...... Our meals were delicious and arrived in a timely manner. I had the steak and Guinness pie with vegetables and gravy, and my guests ordered the fish and chips and chicken burger. The sticky toffee dessert with icecream was a decent size serve and a lovely finish to our meal. Compliments to the chef and kitchen for providing good quality meals for a fair and reasonable price. If you are visiting Belfast, the Crown Saloon is definitely worth a visit.

Quirky pub. Has private booths although these were busy we did manage to sit in one. They can be reserved for a group. Drinks quite expensive but for a quirky place to visit it’s a nice place to go

This may be the most historic and beautiful Pub I have ever visited anywhere. The ornate Victorian craftsmanship is unsurpassed for a Pub. Do yourself a favor and make this stop a priority when in Belfast. You don't have to be a drinker to appreciate the history and beauty of this pub.

Really good food and atmosphere. The service was great too. Sat upstairs in some comfy leather high back chairs and had a pint with a Guinness Stout Pie…delicious! Definitely stop in if you’re in the area.

Highly recommended place to eat and have a drink. We ate very well at a very reasonable price, taking into account the high prices in the country. Emblematic restaurant in the city, with history and very well located. Very friendly and attentive staff. We will return without a doubt.

Highly overrated bar, decor is nice but the place feels old and tired.. Guinness was okay, place was overbooked and we couldn’t be sat at the table we pre booked!

Very authentic, old Irish pub, with the unique feature of individual snugs with doors that you can close to give yourselves a small, private room for the evening, and your food will be served to you in there as well... The food is unpretentious, honest and wholesome, service is very professional, and the choice of drinks is really good - I can highly recommend the Guinness (obviously), the Belfast Lager, and especially the Belfast Black stout (which I thought was even better than Guinness). If I lived here, this would be my local!

Extremely charming place. The booths are a unique feature, as is the Art Nouveau style that fills the entire room. Truly quaint!

We really liked the food, but not the personnel. The service was really slow from the beginning, we waited for more than 15min to be seated even though we had a reservation and the restaurant was less than half full. We are sure multiple people had the same experience, as they waited at the door for a long time for somebody to notice them… We had to be constantly asking for the menu, the drinks, food, cutlery, etc because the servers were not doing their job.

Had an absolutely gorgeous meal here while visiting family, had the vegan burger and salad ..perfect and so tasty ,also had a pint of guinness! Which I throughly enjoyed ,followed by the sticky toffee pudding...great staff and good prices..cant wait to go back !

Booked a table online for my sister, niece and mother who is awaiting a knee operation and is on a walking stick. I was unaware when booking that there was an upstairs area or I wouldn’t have booked this as my mum cannot go upstairs. When we arrived we were told by a waitress that our table was upstairs. We asked could this be changed as my mum cannot use stairs, or is there a lift. She was using a walking stick so was visibly disabled. We were told no, and were not given any alternative measures. The waitress just said no, without saying sorry or anything and we had to just leave and eat somewhere else. I can appreciate that they maybe were busy but I think the lack of disabled access needs to be looked at, as well as the staff members attitude towards us. She was very dismissive and didn’t offer any alternatives or even apologise. My mum was left feeling embarrassed.

Absolutely beautiful bar, totally unmissable to do The food, however, clearly lacks taste.

We were there tonight booking a table a week ago. Since there was a minor I had to book the 7.15pm/8.45pm window because according to their policy after 9pm there must be no under 18s and it seems more than correct to me. The downstairs part is the beautiful bar with wooden booths, colored windows etc while meals are served upstairs in a room that is not as characteristic but still beautiful. We ate well even if some dishes on the menu were missing. The service was initially attentive and punctual, however for the desserts we had to wait 40 minutes due to a mix-up but very kindly we were not charged. We spent £56 on three Guiness main courses and bottled water.
