We visited here on the recommendation of others. To say we’re disappointed is an understatement. The pub is lovely and full of character, however, the food was absolutely crap. Flavourless slop. I had prawn tempura, it was very clearly some reformed prawns, arrow straight and minuscule in girth, the batter at a factor of 2:1. Most disappointing was the steak and ale pie, devoid of taste or flavour. The staff were excellent and not at fault whatsoever. So sad what these chains do to respected establishments.

This is generally a must visit pub when in Belfast. Owned by the National trust it has an amazing interior of wood, tiles, stained glass and small private drinking booths. The atmosphere is great and friendly and staff all very nice and happy. I have been here many times over the years. Guineas is good. They also offer a range of food including traditional Irish fare. I ordered sausages and champ (mash potatoes with spring onions). It was ok but sausages should be fried, not cooked in the oven as these were. Also my champ lacked taste and where was my well of molten butter that I’m used to if it’s homemade? That said, I’ll always visit here if I’m in Belfast. Check it out.

We have visited befor for drinks , on this occasion we decided to eat. When we first went in we in was tired about food and if we had to book a booth or when one would be available . The person we asked was very polite and said the booths were first come basis which is fair enough but were told there was a restaurant up the stairs we said is it ok to take our drinks up , yes so off we went quite happy . Up the stairs you have to wait till greeted again fairly standard practice so we waited , and waited and waited ! We decided to the enter as nobody was bothering with us , however we were then seen and told to get back and wait ! The manner which we were spoken to was utterly disgusting ! It was not even that busy ! That girl could benfit from a customer service course as she was beyond rude and was actually ignoring us ! However after being told to go back and stand there we decided that we would not leave the premises and take our custom else where . ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING customer service service !!!

We were lucky enough to meet a local couple on the bus who were returning from Portugal and heard me say we were here to see Van, they too are fans and going to see him.as well They offered to give us a tour of this beautiful city and also made sure we were headed in the right direction to our hotel. They pointed us towards this fabulous pub - he said we couldn’t miss it as it was his favourite . It did not disappoint, the interior is stunning, the Guinness was delicious, service was excellent! Myself and my wife ate here for the first time (and last time) ordering steak and Guinness pie each and the accompanying veg and mash etc. The pie had the driest crust and the veg was nothing like the pictures on their website with the carrots and runner beans looking like the micro veg from a supermarket. It didn’t even taste of anything. As did the filling in the pie which didn’t taste of Guinness, in fact it didn’t taste of anything either, a bland stew at best. I’ve eaten dozens and dozens of steak and Guinness pies over the years and made a lot too so to eat something so tasteless was surprising. This is a place for the tourists who might not mind a plate of tasteless food but we most definitely won’t be back.

A long-established pub in Northern Ireland. The second floor is the main table seating for meals, and the first floor is the bar. This time, I made a reservation in advance and used it for dinner. Even though I had made a reservation, I had to wait for about 10 minutes when I entered the store. It was obvious that there were not enough staff, and they seemed to be working hard to run the halls with a limited number of people. It was extremely slow for the food and drinks to arrive at the table after ordering. Even though there were only a few people, you could tell that the staff were working hard, and even though they were busy, they were always smiling and great at serving customers. It was a great help that they had a great value kids menu! However, I don't think you should expect too much from the quality of the food. I felt that it would be better to visit this restaurant primarily for drinking at the stylish bar on the first floor, rather than for eating.

The pub downstairs is gorgeous, but the restaurant upstairs is akin to Wetherspoons quality, at a higher price point. Really awful. Food was obviously a microwave jobby, and completely unseasoned. Frozen mixed veg just boiled as a side. The gravy was water, which is a cardinal sin. No way to justify £15-17 for a main. Staff were lovely and could not do more for you, this is about food and pricing only.

Let me start by stating this review is in relation to the restaurant itself, the bar downstairs is gorgeous and seems like a cool atmosphere. So myself and my girlfriend attempted to get a table last year but couldn't as the establishment is quite busy and unless you book ahead will turn away many, but this is not a sign of quality. We booked ahead and were looking forward to finshing this mission of ours. While the accommodating and lovely staff should be commended, the food is the complete opposite. From the watered-down gravy and disappointing fries with a near tasteless steak and Guinness pie, to the Crown Burger which, while filling, was similar to a weatherspoons meal in terms of lack of flavor. The burger patties and bacon were incinerated. All of this could be understandable in a Spoons, but for the price, we (and other patrons) were left severely disappointed. Come for the pub and its beauty but for food honestly a late night dirty takeaway after would be cheaper and probably tastier.

Came for a drink and a bite to eat after work. Lovely decor and great value food menu considering the pub is prominent with tourists. Bar staff were helpful and friendly. Our party did experience a slight issue with the menu - there was a disparity between the written menu and the online ordering menu (the written was for one kind of chicken pie yet the app was a different kind). Staff said that the app was incorrect but if you order that, you will be provided with the one from the printed menu. Fortunately we didn't have any allergies but this could have been unfortunate for allergy sufferers who order from the app without speaking to staff, or resulted in somebody getting something that they don't like. The food we got was nice, but I think there are better food spots in Belfast so will probably look elsewhere next time.

My husband and I were staying in Belfast fir a night,a Christmas gift, and two weeks ago I booked the Crown Bar restaurant for dinner 815pm 14th February 2025. We arrived at 805 and were seated ,my husband and I opposite each other. The waitress took our drink order,2 vodkas and a redbull, the waitress asked did we want doubles,to which we replied we would stick to singles. A waiter came to take our order,we started to order when I apologized and said I'd picked my starter, but not my mains yet abd could we have a few more minutes. The waiter came back,we ordered, he didn't write anything done. Shortly after my starter came, but after 5-10minutes waiting I politely asked about my husband's soup to a different waitress. She came back and said it wouldn't be much longer.i asked could my starter please be reheated to have along with my husband's starter. We asked could we order another round of drinks, the waitress replied...it will be a while before you get anymore drink...I thought she meant because they were so busy. The original waiter returned,we got our starters and I chased up our drinks to which he replied that they were refusing to give us anymore as we had had enough??? I was deeply shocked, I asked why had I offended him in any way,had he misinterpreted something we said,he refused to say abd said it was a feeling he got? I asked to speak to the manager who showed no empathy what so ever, would not tell us why other than they have the right to refuse. At this point I was in tears,I can assure you,we were in no way drunk or disorderly, asked the manager to watch cctv....showing we walked to our table ,sat and chatted.he said he couldn't do that. Other waitresses, no one could answer us why? One waitress suggested I was too bubbly? We politely spoke to other guests who very close proximity to our table,we asked had we been too loud etc they laughed and genuinely shocked said we didn't even notice you both there? We paid for our 1 drink abd starter and on the way out got speaking to the original waiter,I asked was it because my husband was struggling to read the menu,I explained he forgot his glasses,he said it wasn't that he just got a feeling, I was really crying at this stage,he said sorry but once they refuse drink they have to stick to that. My husband and I rarely go out, this was a real one off treat, and I spent the evening in tears as a couple in mid 50s abd 40s I've never been made to feel like that in all my life. Disgusting and cruel.

My husband and I had gotten married in Derry on 2024 December 7 and took a train to Belfast Tuesday, December 10 to check out the Christmas Market there. We started the evening with a fantastic meal at The Crown Liquor Saloon! Being from the States we were really wanting a hearty Irish stew and this was exactly what we were hoping it would be. The lamb shoulder, carrots, onions and potatoes were cooked to perfection and the wheaten soda bread with butter was just the complement we desired. Sticky toffee pudding was a must to finish the meal and it was decadent! Throw in the fact I don't drink and they had Guinness 0.0 on their drink menu made this experience an A+!

Beautiful old building, lots of stained glass inside and out, and old time-worn timbers. Lovely place to go for a takeaway. I ordered a Fish and the girl told me because they were small and not there usual size, she gave me two. Bloody gorgeous fish it was, and a good portion of chips as extras.
