A beautifully-preserved pub and my favourite in Belfast. Owned by the National Trust with all of its original features intact, including gas lighting! The booths, with their high screens and doors, create a nostalgic atmosphere. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. A great place to spend an evening with friends.

We've come here plenty of times before, but what's happened? Seems like everyone behind the bar is under 25 and have no idea how to pour a Guinness. These are the second after sending the first ones back. Not a beer mat to be had. No toilet paper in the ladies at all. What was a good solid bar feels like a poor Witherspoon's now. Very disappointed.

Normally food is absolutely great. But today I ordered mussels in broth. Never again. Too salty, broth really watery with no taste, please! And it all cost 17 pounds.. it is such an amazing dish and it takes a lot to destroy it in Northern Ireland, home for the best mussels in the world. I could not finish mine and I was starving.

Ive never found The Crown terribly warm or particularly friendly . The Guinness is decent & if your lucky you'll get a seat in historic surroundings. The toilet is extremely small & extremely overpowering with the smell of urine! Often no soap to wash your hands either, which is a big No No ! This is a famous pub, lots of tourists come to visit , so the least one should expect, is friendly service & a restroom that does not stink of a sewer & has basic handwashing facilities! Uodate: April 2025! A soulless establishment, merely a tourist attraction! A pint of Guinness will set you back a whopping £6.80 now! Personally the worst Guinness ive had in Belfast bar none! Beautiful looking building but the atmosphere is quite dull and touristy! I find the staff efficient but robotic & not particularly warm! It just reminded me why I usually avoid The Crown Bar when visiting the City!

This place oozes atmosphere. It's not spit and sawdust, but it is a Victorian pub. There are booths which have a door to close behind you as you sit and enjoy your drinks. I think you can book one in advance, which might be a wise move. This is a busy pub, but the craic is great, and the beer is first class, certainly worth standing for if you can't get a seat. When I'm in Belfast, I always have a pint in here.

A pub with an elaborate interior and a great atmosphere. Visited on Sunday. I came by myself in the evening to eat, but was told that the restaurant was fully booked until 9pm. It's not the store's fault, but it's very disappointing. I had no choice but to drink beer on the ground floor while enjoying the atmosphere. The seats are in private rooms, so if you're alone, there's not much room. As a result, I couldn't eat, so I gave it a 3 in the middle. I understand that it is a popular restaurant, so I recommend making a reservation if you want to eat there.

If pubs were royalty, The Crown Liquor Saloon would be Queen Victoria in full drag—dramatic, dazzling, and slightly tipsy. Step inside and boom—you’re slapped in the face with velvet, stained glass, gold trim, and woodwork so ornate it probably has its own ego. It’s like someone said, “What if we made a church, but for beer... and with better gossip?” The snugs are the real stars here—tiny private booths where you can drink in peace, plot world domination, or just pretend you’re in a period drama called Pints & Petticoats. Each snug has a buzzer to summon a server (or a wizard, who knows?), plus little plates to strike your matches like it’s 1890 and you’re lighting your moustache on fire. Drinks? Solid. Vibes? Immaculate. Food? Let’s just say you’re here for the history, not the haute cuisine. But honestly, after two pints, everything tastes like winning. Run by the National Trust, The Crown is basically a museum where you’re encouraged to get a little drunk. History lesson with a side of stout? Yes please. Go for the decor, stay for the craic, and leave wondering if you just became a time-traveling aristocrat.

The oldest pub in Belfast allows you to breathe and experience the atmosphere of times gone by for a few hours. The pub on the ground floor is truly typical, dark as it should be but animated by beautiful Victorian windows, full of characteristic private rooms in wood and worked glass (sitting in one of these really feels like being in an episode of Peaky Blinders). Dinner upstairs, dishes I must say were appreciable (even if we were overwhelmed and "wet", with very "survival" expectations, but we absolutely cannot complain about the quality: stew and soup lasted just a short time) even if not abundant and therefore not exactly in the utmost respect of quality-price: certainly the location however makes this aspect more "digestible". To see and "consume"!

We were very excited to visit this pub. We came in on a Friday afternoon in 2023 and the barman completely ignored us. The pub was very quiet, I was standing at the bar within direct eyesight of the barman for about 10 minutes. He refused to make eye contact with me and proceeded to ignore me. We ended up leaving feeling ostracised and a bit sad. We didn't have this experience at any of the other pubs we visited during our stay, or to be honest at any other pub we have ever been to. No onion ring on the burger and the burger itself was so over cooked that I could have bounced it off the walls. No skin on fries either but we're soggy and under cooked. My partner ordered sausages and smash that consisted of 3 sad looking skinny sausages on top of a small bit of champ which was absolutely drowned in gravy. Staff never even asked if we enjoyed our meal and I didn't complain as I was with another party and I didn't want to make a scene. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I went here last Tuesday night at about 10.15. It was almost empty and had no atmosphere. I was served by a charmless barman who only spoke to tell me the cost. £9.50 for a Guinness and a tonic water! The Guinness was poured too quickly and slopped over the edge of the glass. I didn't bother to finish it, even at that price. We've been several times over the years and it was usually ok. It's changed. Perhaps too many tourists so no need to be welcoming or hospitable, just keep taking the money at extortionate prices. It is the last time.
