Monico in Belfast

The food was bad. It seemed to be a left over Christmas Dinner in March. My daughter and I could not eat the food. We were both very disappointed and will not be back.

Went in and ordered cocktails as they were "2 for 12 advertised". Only to have the whole staff including a rowdy woman (staff member) drinking pints at the bar laughing about us ordering them and looking over. Terrible atmosphere in the bar. Food looked poor as well. I'd advise hiring staff who actually care about their job because we just wanted to turn around and walk out after our experience.

I ASK FOR THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL DINNER WHICH WAS A 3 COURSE MEAL FOR 18.95 POUNDS WE WERE GIVEN THE DINNER WITHOUT ANY STARTER OR DESSERT WE WERE HANDED R DINNER HALF OF IT WAS COLD AND OTHER HALF WAS HOT FELT LIKE IT WAS MIRCOWAVED THEN NO OFFER ON TEA OR COFFEE FELT LET DOWN BY STAFF POOR FOOD POOR STAFF

More like a fast food restaurant they want u hurry up eat up and go u can't even sit down and relax and enjoy a pint or 2

Popped into Monica for a late lunch on our first day in Belfast. Friendly staff, greeted it at the door and found us a table with no problems. For drinks I myself had a pint of Coors, my partner was disappointed due to the lack of flavoured gins and lack of cocktail choice so opted for a Gordon’s gin in the end. For food we grabbed the peppered pulled beef baguette, and the pie of the week, which on this occasion was steak and Guinness. No complaints on the pie, hearty and priced reasonably at something like £13 or thereabouts about. The baguette was sadly very peppery, as the name would suggest, but nevertheless we enjoyed the meal overall. Decent food, Irish pub, no thrills but reasonably priced experience, would recommend stopping by.

The staff were lovely, atmosphere was lovely, food was ok, could've done with more heat on. But really good if you want to sit and chat.

I must have passed it. I bets it's nice.

Great bar friendly atmosphere good selection of drinks good customer service quite busy chatted with some locals who were very nice friendly had good time.

Loved it well worth a visit beautiful interiors. Lovely staff most helpful.

Once again the Monico delivers on quality, pricing on food along with pleasant service, called in on Sunday after some shopping and spent a relaxing hour enjoying the food and a beer

Came in and the bar was dead. Thays not the issue though. Staff were very unwelcoming. Had to leave out of pure awkwardness. Won't be back.

What a little gem of a bar. Couldn't fault anything from the minute we walked in. The staff couldn't do more for us, we had a few cocktails & fish & chips to die for. Shout out to Decky, Shaun & all the crew. 👍❤️❤️

Has an excellent meat pie with chips here. The pastry dough was flaky and all the inner ingredients were excellently seasoned. The service was excellent as well!

Great place for a drink in town

Called in for a bite to eat after a long day shopping in the city and wasn't disappointed, good entertainment on in the main bar where you can eat, or can go through to the quieter part. Ordered the gammon and the sauce it came with was delicious. My girlfriend got the lasagne and loved it. Will definitely be popping in again on our next trip to Belfast City centre.

Friendly staff. No waiting for tables. Food is the best. We all enjoyed it.

Staff were really friendly. It is somewhere the whole family can go and eat. Food was fantastic and the prices were reasonable. All round good establishment.

This place has always been a gem in the heart of Belfast City Centre ❤ It's had a massive revamp and looks amazing. The staff are lovely and down to earth and will truly go out of there way to do or get you anything you need. We went in today for lunch I had Christmas dinner 🍽 it was lush my friend had roast beef dinner which was beautiful. No complaints except far too much food I would thoroughly recommend 👌 the monico even if you just wanted a coffee and a chat or a quick sit down before tackling the shops again. I will definitely be back. Its been nearly a year since I've been back here and as usual I was not disappointed. We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived as the staff are so pleasant and nothing is too much 😀 The menu is 1st class and the prices are unbeatable especially in town. The portions are massive and we went for the special which was philly steak covered in cheese sauce in a baguette with a choice of side £10.95. It was amazing but I forgot to take a picture 📷 😅 so you'll have to go and try it for yourself.

Had lunch today and while the staff were amazing the veggie curry was not! Onions, 1 mushroom and cabbage.

Went out of their way to prepare a great vegetarian meal for my wife. Food excellent and quality of their Guinness second to none.

I called in here for food as I had not been in a few years. I ordered fish and chips that came with mushy peas, salad and bread and butter. Absolutely fabulous, a really big portion, beautifully presented and served quickly and all for £12. You couldn’t get better. The girl who brought the food, Nichola, was lovely, down to earth and pure Belfast. It’s had a makeover and looks well but it’s still a genuine Belfast bar delivering quality. Recommended 100%.

We visited the bar a few weeks ago for lunch and day in the front bar,the food was excellent and service great. On 9/8/22 we returned for lunch and sat in the back bar. I ordered the burger and garlic potatoes, the burger was home made but lacked flavour,I asked if I could have an onion ring but was told 'none left'! The garlic potatoes tasted like they had been reheated and were like warm. My friend got the chicken stack which consisted of 2 small chicken pieces in breadcrumbs which were burnt, chicken stack', don't think so and her garlic potatoes were as bad as mine. Out 2 friends had tomato and basil soup which they enjoyed! We would have complained but had to get back to work. Don't get it why there was such a difference in the 2 visits and it wasn't busy, maybe I know why now.

Price was extortionate. Although apparently in Northern Ireland that was about normal. Drink was rather strong for a single and they had a dress code too.

Had a brilliant night here last night 20/11/21. The staff were so accommodating in getting us a table for 6. Friendly bar staff and the door staff were so friendly, courteous and inviting. Live entertainment was excellent. We had planned to do a pub crawl but decided to just stay here as it was that good! Definitely go back and highly recommend

Just had the "lite bite" Beef Stew, huge bowl of really tasty stew, nothing lite bite about it. Plenty enough to share. Top value for less than £6.

1st the pictures on here are old. This wee bar has been revamped and modernised since then and it looks fantastic. Been twice this month with my young son. Friendly and welcoming staff. Nothing is a problem for them. If you like pub grub this is a place to go. Proper pub grub in a friendly atmosphere and all at reasonable prices.

Won't be back. Bar staff were very unpleasant and unwelcoming. Extremely rude and treated anyone, who isn't part of their inner circle, like dirt. Worst experience I've ever had at a bar in Belfast. Please avoid.

Had lunch and a few drinks today. Tasted good but, Jesus, the food was cold all round. I got the steak ciabattabl but the side order of garlic potatoes was barely warm. Strangely I was there for the Community Shield last year and I wished for a time machine to bring me back a year ago despite the footie result. Will only be back for the pints.

Both food and staff amazing, Nicole especially! 👌highly reccomended will definitely be back. Great value for money also.

Was recommended this place when I asked in Gordon's Chemist for somewhere nice to eat & have a drink without having to book or queue. Well what a place it was. The food is gorgeous & the staff are brilliant.

Enjoyed the food, and staff were very friendly, its got quite the make over since I was last in the Monico.

On a very busy Saturday afternoon, called in for a drink and a bite. No table available so was offer opportunity to have a drink outside and await first available table. Accepted that but certainly didn't work out as promised, but enough said about that. Got a table eventually and bar was still pretty busy. Order taken promptly, drinks came quickly and trencherman portions of food soon after that. Prices for food and drink were more than reasonable (a pint being £1.20 cheaper than in the bar next door) and food was fairly priced , piping hot and really tasty. I think a return visit is imminent to this newly revamped sports bar with it friendly efficient staff, good food and friendly prices.

Came across this bar by accident, but what a find. The range and quality of drinks is excellent, the staff are great and the price and quality of the food is second to none. We have been visiting Belfast for years and this is the best location for drinks and food that we have come across. We will be back every time we are in Belfast.

In here the first week it reopened. Staff were friendly, for lunch I had a pulled beef brisket burger which was pretty good, £4.40 a pint. Was in just before Christmas, and again, for price, and for pub food, really couldn't have any complaints.

The bar has recently been decorated and is beautiful, can't wait to come for dinner! Just had drinks on this occasion.

From my last visit to Belfast late 2019, the premises has been totally revamped with a very welcoming pleasant atmosphere. The main bar is gone and the place has a very modern feel. Downstairs has also faced the builders and has again been well and truly spruced up with a bright modern look. Beer as always perfect and the food menu, whereas not the largest, still offers very good wholesome home cooked food Definitely a credit to the owner for the revamp. Should mention the staff are very welcoming and friendly and do a fantastic job given the current Covid situation This is always my first port of call for food while in the city

I have been going here for years and the food is beautiful. but I can only give 2stars as I went today and I used the disable toilet downstairs it was filthy.under the seat and round the bowl and down on the bottom of the toilet it really needs a good clean with bleach.i went up to the bar to pay my bill and the young waitress said she will bring it to the table which she did I went up to the bar again to pay and there was no 1 about she came in from the back and said your not allowed to stand there no 1 is allowed at the bar in a stern voice i was so embarrassed the way she spoke to me in front of other customers .i am not a mind reader you should have explained this to me wen you brought the bill to my table.i won't b back that's for sure.
