We walked in to get food. Staff ignored us so we started to look for a seat assuming we didn't need to wait to be seated. As we approached a table a lady asked 'what do you want?!' in an annoyed tone. I said 'table for two please'. She said 'we're not taking bookings' and ushered us out! Well sod you then!

Had a great experience at our first time in the Belfast Bar & Block. The food and service was excellent, especially Saj who looked after us. Busy restaurant so would advise booking. Will definitely be back!

Sadly this is the one and only time we will be visiting here. Booked for my partners birthday on a Saturday night. Firstly, it was freezing, we asked if they could either turn the air con off or turn the heat on, but we got some bluff response from the duty manager saying they didn't know how to use the system. We had to keep our coats on for the entire meal and we noticed a few others doing the same. We were left for 15 mins before they came to take a drinks order, waited another 15 mins for our waitress to come back and say they didn't have one of the drinks we ordered. Ordering food - out of the Mexican options they had, which is the reason we went, many of the offerings we tried to order weren't available. How is that possible? So ended up with our third choice, food was ok, nothing to rave about really and we also noticed how slow we were being served in comparison to tables close by. I think we should have left after the first 30 minutes of disappointments, lesson learnt! We will not be back, nor recommending this restaurant.

Been here several times. Always had a really good time. You can see they are running short staffed sometimes but as long as you don’t mind waiting a little longer for good food/drink then it’s worth it.

Very attentive waitress, delicious Christmas menu and the cocktails are gorgeous. Beef dripping popcorn as a complimentary appetizer is a brilliant idea. Would definitely recommend, and will be coming back for sure :)

Called in for lunch today during some Xmas shopping with my son. Food excellent. Steak cooked to perfection . Looked after well by Chris. Been a few times now and will be back.

Dined 17th Dec in the afternoon. Not busy. Ordered off Christmas menu. Steak ordered medium was well done. Tasty enough. Dessert was a mince pie with hot drink.Mince pie was a single mince pie with the tin foil still on. Nothing serves with it eg no cream ice cream and it was cold. Not impressed at all. Does the chef.just run down to Tesco?? Won't be back also the bill was wrong and hasdto be corrected. No Christmas atmosphere at all.

Food was very good, waiter was very helpful and pleasant. However, the front of house/manager was not very pleasant and he ruined the whole experience. Saw him screaming at staff and ignored us several times as we asked him questions about the new menu. On this interaction I would not visit again.

A few weeks ago, we went without a reservation, and they informed us that they were short-staffed and not allowing walk-ins. We completely understood and left. However, while checking Google, we noticed that reservations were available for 20 minutes later, so we booked one and returned. When we went back in, the staff treated us poorly, saying things like, “This is not how it works,” and accusing us of trying to game the system. We explained that they might want to disable reservations in such situations, as we now did have one. However, they kept repeating, “This is not how it works,” several times, without offering any clarification. In the end, we decided to leave. I understand they were short-staffed and may have forgotten to disable reservations, but there was no need to treat us like we were idiots. A bit of understanding on their part would have been appreciated. Simply explaining that they were only honoring reservations made a day in advance would have been enough, and we would have understood.

When we arrived we were told that they were short staffed and service might be a little slower than normal, this was fine. The service we did receive was excellent, food was delicious. Most of our group had steaks and they were cooked to perfection. We were all very happy with our food and drinks. If I had a little niggle it would just be about the ladies toilets, not overly clean, no toilet roll in any of the cubicles or the disabled toilet. Despite several women coming back out to ask for tissue, no staff followed up by putting toilet roll in there.

“Amazing Experience at Bar and Block!” We had an incredible time at Bar and Block! James and Clarissa delivered outstanding service with impeccable attention to detail, making our visit extra special. The food was fantastic, and the 2-for-1 cocktails were a wonderful bonus—perfectly crafted and delicious. Great food, amazing service, and excellent value for money. We’ll definitely be back!

Terrible walked in to an empty restaurant only to be told they were fully booked 🤷‍♀️ Walked out went somewhere else and walked back past again. Restaurant was still not full. Terrible obviously pick their customers 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lovely place for food which was outstanding. Brilliant steaks and the pepper sauce is as good as you will find anywhere. Staff are amazing and helpful and the service was the best we have had in a long while. Will definitely be back

A mixed bag all in all. Ate as a couple whilst staying in the adjacent Premier Inn. Had a drink in the bar one evening and the bar staff were exceptional and made some fab cocktails. Spoke to a male maitre de and booked for the following night. Arrived on time and was met by a member of staff who said they couldn’t confirm my booking as they didn’t have a login? Another member of staff then appeared, likewise scenario. A few minutes later the female maitre de arrived and sat us down. She was the complete opposite to the warmness shown by the other staff. It was quiet as you would expect on a Tuesday. The starters were good but the mains were underwhelming. Both of us ordered steak and they were cooked to perfection and good quality. Unfortunately the chips were hard and plenty were inedible due to black bits within the potato. One of the sides didn’t arrive, we asked the waiter who was very apologetic. He said a chef had bad shoulder so they were undermanned, he added that it was the same the night before with a chef been ill. The side arrived as we were finishing so we politely declined. Nobody asked throughout our meal if everything was ok which is disappointing for such a high end restaurant in such beautiful surroundings. For the first time in many years we didn’t leave a tip.

TLDR: there are plenty of nice places to eat in Belfast and I wouldn’t advice Bar + Block. I came for a two course deal linked to the attached Premier Inn which uses the location for their breakfast buffet. That should give an indication of atmosphere: generic and a bit superficial. Started with a draft beer which was a bit dead compared to prior experiences elsewhere. I upgraded my steak but I probably shouldn’t have bothered. Mid. I would compare it to a Wetherspoons steak, but not priced as competitively. The accompanying samphire was limp and bland. An achievement for such a salty, punchy item that I was looking forward to. The chunky chips were not quite fully cooked and seemed fresh from Iceland. Again, Wetherspoons do it better. Finally, I plumped for the Eaton mess. After a disappointing wait I had some frozen fruit with some squirt cream fresh from the can. If I had paid full menu price for this watery disappointment I would have been livid. The service was slow, meal for 1 with 2 courses took 90 mins, and involved the bill being incorrect twice and the server wandering off to make a round of cocktails once he had established the correct bill and payment method. It took so long one of the other servers actually noticed! There is a great smash burger place round the corner that knows how to cook chips, Bunsen. You can also pay £10 more a head and have a six course tasking menu across the road at Six by Nico. WELL worth it. P.s. if you do risk it I have been warned to avoid the signature steak sauce. It was described as brown sauce + vinegar.

The food was extremely spicy that I couldn’t enjoy it. The desert was great tho. This was on a weekday and the service was very slow. I’m definitely not going back there.

Takes forever to get a beer 🍺. Staff busy talking to eachother ! They get a buzz for watching you standing there waiting and waiting to get served. Cocktails 🍸 constantly getting made. Oh and ladies toilets are just so smelly and disgusting. If toilets aren't clean the kitchen must be disgusting also. 😤

On our last night at the Premier Inn, decided to try the Bar and Block. Walked in at 8.45, and we were asked if we had booked. We hadn’t, although the place was virtually empty. Another staff member was called over, asked the same, and we were turned away. Both were uninterested, unapologetic, neither bothered to ask if we were staying at the hotel. Disappointed to say the least.

Do not recommend! We were staying in the hotel and thought the onsite restaurant looked very nice, so wanted to give it a try on our last night. I entered the restaurant late afternoon to see if we needed to book for that evening. I approached a member of staff behind the bar who advised me to head to the check-in desk in the bar as he didn’t think walk-ins would be possible. I proceeded to wait at the desk and waited quite a while. There were 7 members of staff around and not one acknowledged us or chased up someone to help us. Eventually someone came over and said they would have to go and check if we could book in as they were so busy. After a few minutes the staff member returned and confirmed we were booked in for 18:00, great! We would give them the benefit of the doubt as the food/drink looked good. We arrived back at the restaurant at 18:00 and again waited a while to be seated. Once seated we constantly had to get staff’s attention to be served. The restaurant remained around half empty the whole time we were there. The member of staff who mainly served us was miserable, hard work and completely uninterested. The food was mediocre. At the end of our meal one of our party ordered a calypso coffee. 15 minutes later we had to chase it up, the member of staff then came back to us and said “Oh we don’t do those” and got her manager to issue us a refund. When the manager came over to issue the refund we asked why the item is on the menu if you do not offer it. She then said “Oh we do, we just don’t have the cream.” We expressed how disappointed we had been with the service this evening and she could not have been less interested! “I am sorry it ruined your experience.” And just walked off. Very poor service. The food and drink isn’t worth putting up with it for. Will not return.

First time visit to Belfast with my partner and after a long day of travelling, decided to eat here and grab a drink or two. The food, just wow! One of the best burgers we’ve had in a long time and drinks super nice too, 2-4-1 cocktails and all the staff were super friendly. Price was good value too. Definitely coming back and definitely worth a visit.

Food was lovely and the only reason that they are losing a star is that the kitchen closed early before we were ready for dessert. Nobody told us. Originally we were booked for 9.30 but decided to come in at 8.30 instead which they were glad of and I don't blame them. But kitchen was closed by 9.30 when we were just finishing our mains. Our server was lovely and was able to get us whatever dessert she could in the end which was nice, but was really unhappy that the kitchen had shut with nobody telling us, leaving us with limited choice.

Won’t be back. The staff are very rude. Hopefully they do better in the future!

Good location. Friendly service/staff. Food and drink is on a 100% Was just passing by with my husband and was fascinated by indoor settings from outside and decided to go in and have a taste of what's in. Ordered for a nonalcoholic cocktail, sat at a table even though we had no reservation 🙂 but was treated nicely by the staff even when unknowingly to us it was a reserved space. Popcorn was offered, and we placed an order for a burnt end beef and chicken wings. 😋 We enjoyed it.

Just a couple of drinks, great service

Ordered a fillet steak MEDIUM, it was still kicking when it finally arrived. Sent it back, arrived 10 minutes later the same. Ended up giving it to my husband. Clearly doesn’t matter how you want your steak cooked, chef cooks how he wants to cook steak. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Disappointed to say the least.

I rarely leave reviews, but unfortunately, I feel compelled to share my experience. We chose Bar and Block to celebrate mine and my sister's birthday, booking in advance for a party of 20. The booking process was smooth, we were able to book 2 tables for 12 and for 8 people. However, the day before our reservation, we received a rude and abrupt call informing us that our group would be split across the restaurant, with one seating at 5 PM and the other no earlier than 5:15 PM. We were happy enough with this but we felt the tone and attitude down the phone was concerning. When we arrived, the restaurant was barely a fifth full, with plenty of empty tables. Some of our guests were running a bit late, and at 5:10 PM we were told that if they didn’t arrive by 5:15 PM, we’d lose the second table—despite being told beforehand that 5:15 was the expected arrival time. This added unnecessary stress, but we remained flexible and decided to fit around one table, as a few guests couldn’t make it. Incredibly, the table we were pressured into forfeiting remained empty the entire time we were there, as did several others around it. Once seated, we were repeatedly told we were “extremely late,” even though we were not. This created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. The service was chaotic, with drinks taking 45 minutes to an hour when ordered from the bar, and around 30 minutes when ordered at the table - on two occasions drinks were not written down and therefore never came. Throughout our time there we had one particular waiter that just treated us as though we were a completely inconvenience. By 7:20 PM, we were told we would need to vacate our table by 7:30 PM—even though the restaurant was still half empty. However, given the stressful service, we were ready to leave by then anyway. The final blow was when we were told the entire £450 bill had to be paid on one card, with no option to split the payment even between a few cards, which is ridiculous for a large group. We sorted this by transferring to one card before payment - but we were rushed with this. It's unfortunate because the food and cocktails were genuinely good, but the poor service overshadowed the entire experience. It’s evident the staff were under a lot of pressure, but that does not excuse the lack of basic customer service. As a group of 15, we spent a considerable amount of money, yet left feeling undervalued and frustrated. It was everyone’s first time there, and unfortunately, none of us will be returning. If you can’t cater for a large group then don’t take large group bookings.

Walked in at 8.15pm on a Sunday night, ignored for 5 mins until we went to the bar and were told "there's no food available". This was a very strange thing to hear while diners a few feet away were enjoying their dinners. We asked what it meant and we were told "it's far too late", as if we were the ones at fault for wanting to eat at 8.15pm??? At least if we were told the kitchen was closed with a smile we might have accepted that but it was a very bizarre interaction and quite rude, will not be back

One of the best steaks Iv had in a long time! Meal was amazing and the 2 for 1 cocktails went down a treat, such good value for money and they were gorgeous. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Arrived for our Friday evening booking to be told the chef hadn't turned up and the kitchen was closed. Damn. I get that happens sometimes but it's how you deal with that is key. We were just told, "Sorry about that". But y'know, it would have been nice to be offered a free drink for our trouble at now having to go elsewhere and hoping the better places had an available table. Don't simply dismiss 1st time customers with a shrug and "Sorry".

Had a booking for 6 people last night for 6:45, called the day before to confirm and slightly change the time - no issues at all, staff were very accommodating. Fast forward to yesterday, I miss a call from the restaurant and call back immediately with no answer , I then check the booking link and confirm the table again thinking the call was to do same. We then arrive on time for our booking to be told by management that they have no chef and will not be serving food today, I asked the lady why I hadn’t received a voicemail or even an email to notify us and was told she had 120 people to call and didn’t have time. Poor management of the situation, an email or even text to the customers for that day would have avoided a unnecessary trip.

Food was outstanding! Chloe was our waitress and didn't miss a beat! Ask for her!!! Beef short rib burger and pepper sauce was 10/10

I had high expectations of Bar+block and was really looking forward to the lunch I booked for my cousin, friend and our 3 children. I was quite disappointed the front of desk (man) was not very welcoming there was a girl beside him that rolled her eyes when I said we had one more adult and child. The place was empty only two tables occupied I really feel the customer service could have been alot better and this is before we were seated. Our sever was lovely however was taking orders and trying to run the bar at the same time that caused a few errors with our order. I never leave reviews however I feel this is needed bar and block looks amazing but really need to look at there customer service at front of house and how they distribute the food especially when children are there I am sorry this is negative but hope you can improve on this.

Had a lovely breakfast this morning after a stay at the adjoining Premier Inn. Magda was attentive and engaging and the food was lovely. Managed to clear work at the same time which was a bonus as the WiFi worked better than the hotel. Great place to have a slow breakfast whilst working.

First time @bar +block , beautiful restaurant, lovely atmosphere ,top service by the beautiful kamille warm friendly beautiful manor !!!,food was amazing, compliments to the chief !!!! Highly recommended,will definitely be back x

The service here sucked. I showed up to an empty restaurant around 8 PM on a Sunday and was asked if I had a reservation, when I said no the host told me I had to wait 30 minutes despite the restaurant being virtually empty. I decided to grab a drink from the bar while I waited. The bar was covered in empty glasses and unfinished drinks (see pictures) that blocked access to the credit card reader, which the bartender just pushed to the side so I could insert my credit card. The empty tables in the bar area were also occupied by abandoned drinks and empty glasses and all the tables were dirty. My drink was made incorrectly and tasted a little off like the glass I was given hadn't been properly cleaned. While I waited I watched 2 couples walk in a few minutes after me (also without a reservation) and were seated immediately. Cool. After waiting the required 30 minutes to be seated I ordered the ribeye with a side of mac and cheese. The ribeye was fine and tasted good the mac and cheese was bland and lukewarm. Staff were rude and acted like they didn't want to serve me. Not sure if the management sucks, if they were short staffed, or what was going on but it was a very poor experience and not worth the price.

Great breakfast with lovely sausages and scrambled eggs, thanks to Dami, the chef.I was served by Hagola, who was really nice and friendly.

Food was poor quality, burger tasted bland but the chips was alright. There was several flies in the vinegar which was replaced quickly but the server didn't seem surprised. Next evening I got food poisoning

This place was a stop on our way back to our hotel after an afternoon of shopping. The gentleman that greeted us was not the pleasant verging on rude which turned out to be the only downside to this place! Debra our server was amazing making sure our allergy was taken care of as were we. Though Ireland is typically a place were tipping is not observed we felt the need to make sure Debra was left with a small extra. The food was excellent, hot, delicious and cooked to perfection. We had a the scallops, sirloin, a chateaubriand for 2 and a brisket burger, pluse an eton mess and a churro desserts. Highly recommend!!!! Only got photos of dessert as we were too busy eating to remember to take photos of our food!! Lol

We had a lovely afternoon at the Bar + Block. Darren was so attentive and polite. Definitely we will come back.

Well folks what can we say my friend and I came to the bar and block for the first time to be welcomed by kris who was absolutely amazing his style and banter made us feel so relaxed and important. It was my best friends birthday and when I told him he presented her with her favourite cocktail which made her feel special.Then the amazing Darren came on at 4 and took over from Kris The food was amazing and the cocktails even better lol . We would highly recommend this place so please come and try this place out Alberta and Margaret thank u for a lovely day 😀🍷🍾🎂we will be back x x

Really loved this Premier Inn. The rooms are modern and well furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely ultra violet lighting and very clean. Staff very friendly especially Magda at breakfast. The location is absolutely brilliant right in the heart of Belfast Close to some fantastic pubs...I will definitely book this hotel again

Wonderful service, really pleasant experience! Darren was very attentive and was able to seat us at short notice and very promptly. I would most certainly return again. Food was absolutely delicious- highly recommend the chicken souvlaki!

I want to be clear that my score is based on the Breakfast service or lack of. This bar is attached to the Premier Inn and therefore is used for the Meal Deals. The evening meal choice is quite limited but the food is very nice and the service was lovely. I was running late on my first day and the waitress was really helpful and grabbed me a box to pop my breakfast sandwich in. My issue was with the Manager this morning, who's staff kept us waiting in line sorting out various issues for nearly 15 mins, which in turn made time very limited for my Taxi collection. So when I asked for a take away box to do exactly what I had done the day before, it was flatly refused and I was told it was against policy. I explained that it was possible the day before, but was told that he would speak to the staff as it is not an option (sorry if I got someone in trouble!). I then had to go back to reception to get a refund and to leave hungry, knowing I would not get a chance to grab anything till my flight around 4pm. I would like to mention that the Premier Inn Manager really did try to resolve this for me, but the Bar+Block Manager was having none of it and really was lacking and his Customer Service skills this morning.

A quiet place, the food is very delicious, the music is relaxing. The price is affordable and the quality is excellent. The waiter service is amazing too and I especially want to thank Magda for her hospitality and kindness. She is always taking care of the clients. Thank you ! I will be back.

The food was great. And they had vegetarian options. The hostess asked us right away if there were any allergies which was nice. Our server Saj was professional and friendly. It was busy so the only way to get in was a reservation. And because of that it was loud and difficult to hear. It also took a bit longer to get our food but that is to be expected with how busy they were. But Saj checked in on us and we enjoyed our time there and the food. Prices were good.

I went here for my daughters 15th birthday, the staff were lovely, and the atmosphere and mocktails really nice ,but the food was such a let down for the price. Some of our starters arrived burnt, my sisters meal was awful just full of tasteless sausages of different sizes which tasted awful and my nephews burger I can't explain what went wrong there for a beef brisket burger. I'm really disappointed as I really like this place.

Had a grilled chicken platter. Darren was friendly and extended a great service. Nice atmosphere with plenty of space.

Booked a table for 3 adults and a child for 7.45 upon arrival we wer ether told children had to be out for 9pm which was fine if we actually served on time our drinks took 20 mins and food arrive at our table at 8.40 leaving us 20 mins to eat our meal.... at 9.15 a stewardess came ro our table (one member still finishing her meal) and said oh he was meant to be out at 9pm. No where does it state online no kids In the restaurant after 9pm at all... the booking could have been cancelled had we known an I would have spent my money elsewhere we couldn't couldn't have a desert and finish our drinks as we're made to feel like we had to leave immediately... safe to say extremely disappointed.... FOOD WAS AMAZING THOUGH would have loved desert and cocktails but as above wasn't able to.

Came here on Monday close to afternoon. Looking for lunch in Northern Ireland is always a challenge cause a lot of the places aren’t usually open. However, running into this joint was a pleasant surprise. The food was great and their loaded fries blew my mind. Great way to go above and beyond. The host is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

We were soaked to death after a walking tour so took the advantage of a meal at our hotel rather than going out and we're not disappointed

I called with my wife for lunch. There were loads of free seats and the waitress turned us away stating she was on her own and was unable to cope unless we had pre booked. Disappointing as it had been one of our favourite places to eat when visiting Belfast.

Great food, steak cooked to perfection, generous cocktails and divine desserts. Claud looked after us and was very friendly and helpful, one of the best waiters we have encountered in any restaurant. We will be back on our next trip.

Came for the 2 for 1 cocktail promotion. Perfect service from our server Kamille. Food was delicious, decent portion size at a good price. Will definitely be back again.

The place was quite nice. We stopped by a for a drink. I would have rated it higher if we didn't have to wait too long, it was also a busy time, not the staffs fault.

Pretty familiar story looking at the other revues - booked table for 10 at 6.45 Orders taken ,long wait for drinks food arrived in dribs and drabs . The size of the 14oz "spiral" was a joke so one of our party discretety asked to have a word - away from the table to be as polite as possible and was just dismissed as a whinging customer (steak was £40 ) Once all mains had arrived we had to remind them of an order of prawns which didn't arrive and upon checking the menu found several items missing from the plates of food - onion rings for instance .prawns arrived when we'd finished eating . Bill was £450 Asked to politely speak to the manager about our service missing food etc ... Little miss angry marched out crossed out the prawns and asked us to leave - at no point did we ask for a discount or refused to pay etc. Again we politely attempted to communicate our disappointment we were told we where being confrontational and told to leave - we asked for the managers name as a result of her attitude she refused point blank - AVOID THE PLACE FOLKS IF MANGERS ARE PREPARED TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS ITS NO SURPRISE ITS A RECURRING ISSUE . the restaurant is a nice place it's a shame their staff training isn't as well prepared.

Extremely slow service causing us to miss the start of a movie reservation. Staff yelling at each other between the kitchen and front of restaurant. 90 minutes from sitting to bill easily. Seemed extremely short staffed. Skipped desert despite being included in the meal deal. Lamb was very gamey.

Loved the food, really good food ,fresh and tasty ,the place is beautiful but service is very slow and not the most friendly, specially the one at the door.we had a nice waiter at the beginning , but when she was gone it was difficult to get someone to order dessert and more water. The price is good too for the quality.

Went here for dinner on Saturday night arrived early so decided to sit in the bar area while waiting on table. Waited at the bar for a good thirty minutes and didn’t get served ened up just giving up which was a shame because the cocktails did look lovely. Bar staff not having any real system for serving drinks. When we got to our table the service was so slow thank god for the brown haired girl with the glasses if not for her we would of never got anything! Food was alright definitely not as good as what you’re paying for overpriced for a tiny string of steak!! Place is too busy for the staff to keep up with on both the bar and restaurant. Which is a shame because this place used to be so good now it’s just went to the dogs!!
