Our group had great food, great craic and enjoyed the music. I had an issue with the bill which only occurred to me the following day and they sorted it immediately, no fuss. Top marks to the staff!!!

Beautiful but small place (usually full of people)

Wonderful dining experience for dinner at the Whites Tavern! It boasts as the oldest tavern in Belfast, and has such a charming atmosphere, there is a wood and coal fire in the dining area that gives off a nice aroma through the pub. The seafood chowder was the best I’ve had and the sticky toffee was delightful!

Popped in for a drink. Great little pub, an open fire. Lots to choose from. They do food, but we didn't have anything.

Customer service was brilliant and the food was lovely! My first visit in NI and I wanted to try traditional Irish food. I was told the chicken is halal which was a pleasant surprise. I was recommended the place by a few people and I ordered a lychee peach mocktail which was delicious. I also had an Irish stew which was tasty.

We had dinner, with the inevitable pint of Guinness and Hamburger. The atmosphere is serene, you can enjoy the TV broadcasting sports or excellent music. Highly recommended!!

Absolutely amazing food!! Proper tavern with a real fire, and old school charm. I’m gluten intolerant and the menu was clear and adaptable for me. Had the BEST sausage mash and gravy!! Highly recommended

Had a great evening here last night Saturday. The place was buzzing with live music. Had 4 visitors up from the south of Ireland and they couldn’t believe how great this was too. Staff all lovely and atmosphere 5 out of 5.

I'm putting this up not for me but for the loads of Americans that came in. I know there is good guinness here and one of the reasons I call in but to see equal care given to foreign visitors was very nice. Everyone upstairs who ordered one will be getting a superb pint.

Lovely old fashioned pub. The more up to date parts are a bit too noisy for me, bit otherwise just a lovely place to have a pint.

Good vibes and good pint of Guinness

Great place to eat and drink if you're visiting Belfast. The Tavern was built in 1630 and has kept its rugged appeal. Always busy with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Nice restaurant, many places where you can dine. Very tasty food.

I have been traveling in Ireland for about two weeks now and this is the first establishment that I have found the staff to be unfriendly and unwelcoming. Thankfully the food was good as that is its saving grace.

Whites is one of those establishments who know how to do all the right things. A great place to visit for couples, groups (they have a great beer hall), or even if you just fancy a quiet pint on your own in the more traditional atmospheric old bit of the pub at the back. Brilliant for food. We had the Irish stew. Service was swift, efficient, and came with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Great Guinness, great craic, great experience. Will definitely return.

My husband and I stopped by for lunch but the waiter never came to our table with the menu. The place was not busy at all, today August 20, 2024 around 2:30 PM. I gave this pub 1 star because I don’t have the choice. Avoid this place at all cost.

Amazing service with staff member Julia - made an amazing cocktail and provided great service I have not had elsewhere especially on a Saturday. Deffo coming back and will be telling more to come.

We were looking for seafood chowder and found this fantastic place. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is very authentic. It appears to be the oldest pub in Belfast. They also had guiness 0.0.

One of Belfast's historic pubs. The cuisine is good but not excellent. The spaces are really beautiful, large with the possibility of more rooms even in another building (ranging from the slightly dark historic structure to the new large spaces of the new adjacent structure). The staff is young but very courteous. The only real flaw is that if you order whiskey (for which they have an excellent cellar and experience on the part of the staff) you should know that, at a high cost, you will be served half a finger of whisky.

Popular and busy and it’s evident why; great tasty food and stellar service. One of the best stews in town, served with the tastiest soda bread around. Fair prices for such high quality grub in such a fine venue and location.

Large pub fitting and catering for all needs

I’ll start off by saying that the waitress apologized profusely and insisted that our experience was not normal. Seemed a busy Monday night when we showed up, but cleared out shortly after. We had reservations and when we finally got seated we waited about 15 minutes before I gave up and ordered drinks from the bar. We got our menus shortly after. We continued to order drinks at the bar rather than with the waitress. About an hour later we got our food (obviously reheated). Mine tasted fine, the wife was not impressed. Drinks were weak and we paid a different price for the same two drinks every time we went to the bar. Overall not impressed, but supposedly it was an off night.

We visited several pubs during our crawl, and unfortunately, this spot didn't quite meet our expectations. Compared to the other places we visited, the vibe here was not up to the mark. The crowd seemed less energetic, the music wasn't as engaging, and the overall ambiance felt a bit flat. While it might appeal to some, it lacked the lively atmosphere we were looking for.

It's one of those places that feels a bit empty if it isn't busy, and too busy when it isn't very empty. The drinks are fine from when I have been, but then I've always had Guinness here. They need to get wifi!

We would have liked to eat here, but no one cared that we were there for 15 minutes. So we left again and looked for another place.

We went to Whites tavern last Saturday to see the Grand Camaros as part of the Belfast blues festival. Had a fantastic afternoon. Great atmosphere, great band/music and great Guinness zero on draft. Lovely afternoon 😊

Went here to celebrate our company's opening night in the Grand opera house and none of us were disappointed. The music, the aesthetic, the drinks. Perfect.

Visited today for some food. Service was very slow. When fish and chips arrived the fish was tiny and the portion of mushy peas was a forkful!! Wasn't great quality either so very disappointing and expensive.

During our visit to Belfast, we couldn't pass up the chance to visit White's Tavern. It’s said to be the oldest pub in the city. It’s very rustic and definitely makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. She’s from 1630. I opted for the vegetarian vegetable stew, and it exceeded my expectations. As someone who typically avoids stews due to my diet, this dish was a delightful surprise. The stew was hearty and flavorful, and packed with fresh vegetables. It was a real treat to enjoy a comforting stew without worrying about any meat ingredients. We loved sitting in there enjoying dinner and a couple drinks.

Very good and traditional food The chef was very professional and the staff kind and prepared ! I highly recommend! Inside the pub/taverna the atmosphere is typically from north Ireland , with music and great people. I’ve been here for 2 days and each time the food was delicious. I highly recommend the soup of the day and all the specific specialty that the waiters suggest you . The chicken pie was very good , the chicken was perfectly cooked prepared in a fantastic way , juicy ad tasty . Thank you! Ps.: whiskey is amazing! Eva from Italy

Arrived with my grandad and mum. Took a while to get served then our food arrived. My fish was literally half empty, it sort of deflated as I put the fork into it. Really average meal overall with small portions and half a fish that cost £16.50. Some work in the kitchen to be done here.

Belfasts oldest pub, watched the football in the hall next door. The original bar area is lovely and quaint. I didn’t eat but looking at some of the food coming out in looked good. Guinness zero on draft too so great for us non drinking

Poor service and food average. Advised staff that they had provided the wrong side with the order, and the waiter gave a curt response... side was not changed! Tables weren't set; I had to request cutlery and condiments. Breaded scampi was actually battered scampi. A poor experience overall!

Closed when we got there at 22.45 on the 19th June 2024. What can I say. It was a Wednesday.

This place is historic with a capital H. I found it hard to believe that this place was open for business before Australia was discovered. I can imagine my grandfather and his family being there.

Lovely pub with good atmosphere and service. However we were really disappointed with the food. 4 of us got the seafood Chowder and were really looking forward to it. When it arrived you could hardly see the fish ( lots of potatoes) but what was really missing was the flavour 😕 it was more just a cream sauce..I couldn't taste the flavours of the fish at all. We all added so much salt just to taste something. This isn't a difficult dish to do ..smoked haddock in itself adds flavours, fish stock, celery, garlic..I didn't taste anything! Sorry but just being honest. Just jot for me.

Was just there for drinks so can't comment on food. Was recommended here by another bar. Sat at the bar where me and my girlfriend chatted. One of the bartenders, Julia, overheard a conversation we were having and asked if I would like the cocktail mentioned in the story. She made an absolutely amazing cocktail that was off menu. And it's not an everyday cocktail too so fair play Julia you must have a huge range of cocktail knowledge. Thankyou very much you made my night!!

The only downside is if you sit close to the open fire that'll be your cologne for the remainder of the day 😎

Really cool spot. Ended up going twice in one night. Food was great! I got the duck spring rolls, cod bites, and breaded Brie. My boyfriend got the prawns and sirloin. You will not be disappointed. 10/10 would recommend.
