A lovely, well packaged 'take away'. Beautiful, refreshing starter and fantastic Roast Beef Sunday Lunch. Dessert velvety smooth choc. Both my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to everyone for making my Mum's Day special in the middle of difficult times for us all.

We were booked to go for dinner on Saturday but that was cancelled due to the COVID restrictions. We ordered a takeaway meal instead and it was absolutely fabulous. We both had the smoked trout then the most amazing langoustines and chips. We very much hope that The Dory remains open for as long as possible, even if for more takeaways.

Fantastic setting in the stunning village of pittenweem. Been in for coffee and cake a few times before and always been delicious. Went in this time for Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. Started with salt and pepper squid which was perfectly cooked and probably amongst the best squid I've had. Son had carrot and coriander soup which he said was delicious with a nice wee bit of spice about it. We then had the Sunday roast and it was perfect. Meat was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The seasonal veg was on point and roast potatoes were fantastic with a splendid looking Yorkshire pudding to top it off. The boy had the fish and chips which he had breaded and says amongst the best he has had. All round great service and fantastic food.

First time I’ve been to the Dory and it certainly won’t be my last. Super tasty fresh seafood. We had squid starter, lobster and bouillabaisse mains - all exquisite. Visited recently for lunch. It felt very safe as the staff are clearly following enhanced safety procedures and the "covid rules" were explained to us. We had a table in the gallery which was great as there was so much space between the tables. I ordered the smoked haddock pot with a side portion of artisan bread. We also had the breaded fish and chips and all food was delicious. However, portion sizes are not huge. The pear mocktail was a welcome change from the standard fizzy juice options and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and visit. However, it is certainly not cheap! But if you don't mind paying for quality food, great service and pleasant dining experience I would thoroughly recommend.

I visited for a special family meal. After a fantastic starter and oysters to share we were let down by an hour long wait for our main course. When it arrived the bouillabaisse was tiny. It consisted of only 6 mussels and a mouthful of white fish. We were told this is the standard portion but I can’t help but think there was a mistake in the kitchen, given the long wait and the fact it was smaller than the starter. To make matters worse, on the way out we saw several customers having the lobster, which we were told wasn’t available that day. Such a shame given the quality of the first course. I would usually enjoy a leisurely pace for lunch but when a meal starts off so well and ends on a disappointment it makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes.

We have been to this Restaurant many times and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We had booked for Lunch today and it was more than 45 minutes before our Starters arrived. Another long delay before the main courses and we had to ask if they were coming. No apology and that is very disappointing. If there was a problem in the Kitchen we should have been told.

I had booked this restaurant after reading reviews and it was booked for an anniversary lunch as I wanted something a bit special. It did not disappoint ! The quality of food on offer was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Dogs are also allowed in during the day so this was an added bonus for us since we were visiting and staying in Pittenweem for a few days so bringing along our four legged friend was a necessity. Service was outstanding throughout our visit and the staff were very informative, friendly and made sure you were in a safe environment with the social distance rules in place. We made our first two visits to The Dory for dinners this week - excellent! The moment you walk in you're in a nice space with art oozing from the gallery walls and a tempting specials blackboard...We've now tried a good few dishes including enormous perfectly cooked lemon sole, langoustines on the grill, lobster, plus various lovely starters, desserts and a wee bit too much wine! The staff are great, the atmosphere is cosy & relaxed and if you like the art it's wrapped & ready to take away at the end of the night (oops that added a few bob to the bill, but it kind of made up for no Pittenweem Art Festival this year)Ticks all our boxes!!

there is a wonderful ambiance - a combination of the artworks on view, the super friendly staff and the excellent food - in this delightful little bistro right on the harbour in Pittenweem. The menu ranges from lobster to simpler fish dishes, and there are some meat options though not much choice for vegetarian, but everything we ate was delicious and beautifully presented. They also have a good selection of cocktails and wine. It’s very reasonably priced and their covid compliance is such that we felt safe - once seated we hardly noticed the difference from last year. Made it just before end of lunch service and were very warmly received, instantly felt at ease with all of the Covid precautions on display. The Salt & Pepper Calamari is possibly some of the best I’ve ever tasted, beautifully presented as well. Monk fish was on special and very special indeed! My partner splashed out on the Langoustine (of course I was paying) and I managed to pry one off her to sample...fantastic and well worth the price. The wonderful fishing villages of Fife hide small pearls of hospitality, generosity and taste. The Dory Bistro deserves a stop for its extraordinary simplicity in communion with the artistic vein of the exhibition that will accompany you in tasting your meal. The local fish is the only one you savor in the particular and distinct preparation, but the burgers and sandwiches (ask my children) also deserved praise. Don't miss an exquisite brownie with caramel and sweet cream at the end of the meal .... a delicacy! The staff was courteous, precise and quick. Congratulations ! We spent Christmas 2019 in Pittenweem and booked our Christmas Eve dinner at The Dory. The setting is nice, the boats in the harbour sparkled with Christmas lights. We were greeted by friendly staff. Our order was taken quickly and our drinks arrived. I had ordered the sea trout and when it arrived it all looked great. Unfortunately most of the trout was uncooked so I let the waitress know and she took it back to the kitchen. It took a while before it was returned and by this time my companions had nearly finished so rather awkward for me. My dish was returned and the trout was looking a bit frazzled! Again I had to return my dish as the rest of the food was cold! Once again it was returned, this time the plate was hot, the food too, (the trout a bit more frazzled) - except for the broccoli! I gave up and ate it as I was starving! So I was a bit disappointed, as sending a dish back with cold vegetables is really not something you’d expect from any restaurant!

We were not disappointed at all. The menu is sensible - not too long, not too short and there’s always a special or two. I had the lamb’s liver and bacon special - beautifully cooked and presented, and a substantial helping too. My wife had the coq au vin and enjoyed this as well. We followed up with coffee and some of their home baking. Lovely coffee but if there’s a gripe at all the rich and tasty fruit loaf portion was very mean...

Started off really well with chanterelle mushrooms on sourdough bread and cullen skink. Lobster main was entirely satisfactory, however the coq (au vin) was just a tad dry. My comments to this effect were dismissed and ignored, or so I thought, until we asked for the dessert menu. Clearly my comments had been heard as the dessert menus were almost thrown on the table with no eye contact or communication. I had no desire to complain, however the owner was forced upon me by one of the waiting staff, and I did try to voice my comments, but was met with nervous laughter and the excuse "we're busy". Yes, the restaurant was full, however the serving staff appeared to be managing this very efficiently. Unfortunately they did not manage adverse comments quite so efficiently. Had a wonderful dinner at The Dory while visiting Pittenweem last month. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. Not a lot of good restaurants in the area but the Dory is definitely first rate and would be considered excellent anywhere in Scotland.

This is a difficult one. We had dinner on a Wednesday and all went well, very well. Friendly staff, good Scottish fare including oysters, cullin skink, fresh fish and generous puddings. Loved it.

Best quality fresh fish, simply and well cooked should be easy to find but is surprisingly rare and this restaurant is one place that excels in all of the above. Great art on the walls and good friendly service means it is always at the top of the list of our preferred restaurants.

This restaurant is right by the harbour. They have a wide range of fresh fish which is well prepared and served with simple vegetables, letting the fish stand out. Excellent fresh langoustines. Well worth visiting.

Went here for an evening meal...three of us. All had a main fish course.....bream, bass and all caught fresh that hour. We arrived about 6pm and just beat the chef in. Specials of the day weren't ready as yet as the guys catching the fish hadn't docked in the harbour. Right enough about 10 minutes later the fish arrive in a Tesco bag. The specials of the day then appeared about another 10 minutes later. Bream and bass....some complete fish and some filleted.

I booked a table for myself and two visiting friends, knowing that this is the best source of restaurant meals in Pittenweem, and I wasn't disappointed. We were very well looked after, the menu choice was a good as ever and the quality of the food was very good as usual.

We went here twice during our short break in Pittenweem. The first occasion was to a private lunch function to celebrate with family. The service and set menu were excellent. The second occasion was an evening meal for two. The menu selection was extensive and made it difficult to choose!

We had lunch in the Dory having walked along the coast from Cellardyke. What a treat! The bistro itself is bright and airy and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful lunch and quite frankly could have spent the afternoon there if the children had allowed! Our son had mussels which were excellent and the Coley (the fish of the day, with sauteed potatoes and chorizo) was wonderful. A must if you are in the area.

I've been to The Dory several times now and have loved the food each time. The menu is varied and great for those who like seafood, although there are meat/veggie options too. Great for lunch but also lovely for an evening occasion.

Since it opened a couple of years ago we have eaten at the Dory many times. It is a great place for entertaining friends for dinner, or for having a quick lunch with a girlfriend, or for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is very attractive with lots of fantastic art to look at (and/or purchase!) and the service is prompt, warm and friendly. The food is great, obviously being located in a working fishing village, fish features heavily on the menu and the list of daily specials. Never-the-less there is plenty of choice for those who don't want fish, and for vegetarians and vegans.

Having looked at the facebook page of the chef preparing turbot and halibut etc I was really looking forward to some specials on the evening we dined last week. Alas it was not to be.

I cannot fault the food or the service; top quality. So it pains me to downgrade this to a 4*. I do so, to alert others that the acoustics are appalling. By 8pm on Saturday with a full house, most diners were having to shout (or screech!) to each other to make themselves heard. We had difficulty hearing our waitresses and at the peak of noisiness gave up talking to each other. So, if you have hearing issues (which I don't) then choose your time to eat carefully. There is nothing to soak up the sound which bounced off every surface. I would certainly choose a different night or timing for my next visit.

Ate here with friends at the weekend. Great menu, friendly service, great buzzy atmosphere - it felt like 'the place to be' on a Saturday night. We're glad we chose it. Had a great table at the window too.

Enjoyed a splendid lunch here in August. I had the Cullen skink and my husband had a special sandwich. The scallops bacon and avacado focaccia was sensational as was the Cullen skink. Will definitely visit again. Thank you
