Only open from 4 - 9pm Wednesday to Sunday, however worth waiting for! The service was exceptional and the food extraordinary. This fish and chip shop deserves to be in the nations top 20! It’s was an excellent find.

Take away fish supper with black pudding supper and single sausage. All excellent. The fish in particular. Really well done chips and nice touch to ask if we would like a lemon slice for the fish. My new favourite chippy in the region. It used to be anstruther but Crail now takes the prize. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to return. Thanks to all the staff.

Don’t let the queues put you off, the quality is worth the wait! Perfectly fried fish, option of smoked, very light, flavoursome batter, excellent chips, all fresh and ordering service managed well. Frankly I rate them much higher than Anstruther Fish Bar, and that’s a pretty high bar already!

We have been to this particular fish and chip shop on a few occasions We ordered fish suppers on both occasions The fish was delicious and the chips were the nicest chips we have ever eaten !!! Would highly recommend !!!

From a friendly welcome to the fabulous fish and chips this chipper is rightly the best in Crail. We arrived a short while before closing but this was not an issue to the team and we sat in for haddock, chips and mushy peas. The batter was light and the chips tasty. Highly recommended.

The very best haddock is served in Crail Fish Bar. The staff are so friendly and the service is excellent. We opt to sit in to enjoy a slice of bread and a pot of tea with our haddock supper & side of mushy peas. The homemade tartare sauce is excellent too. The seating area is clean & comfortable. A good idea to message their Facebook page to reserve a table.

From a proud West coast Cumbria who knows a good plate of fish, this place serves some of the best fish and chips I’ve tasted. Cooked to order with fantastic service, you couldn’t ask for more. I would have shared a photo of the full box of food… but as you can see it didn’t last long enough. If you’re in Crail, please go. 🐟🍟😋

Looks to be very clean and the fish and chips were ok but certainly not any better than “ok”. It was busy and plenty of people waiting for takeaway. I would probably give the food and service 3 stars but my reason for 1 star is the greed of these owners. At £9.80 for a fish supper (and quite a small portion of fish at that), it’s expensive enough but to charge an extra £1 for their homemade tartar sauce just seems mean. Other chip shops I’ve experienced put their home made sauce in at no extra cost. Another little mean spirited practice they operate is the containers of wooden knives and forks on the counter, priced at 10 p each. Surely at the cost of the food they don’t need to charge extra for a wooden fork? It’s a bit embarrassing when so many tourists use this fish n chip restaurant/takeaway. Lives up to the Scottish “meanness tag”.

Had take away fish suppers and mushy peas. Was very good. Great chips. Was a bit of a wait due to popularity and demand, about 45 minutes to an hour. Would recommend getting your order in and then checking which number you are vs the current served order and coming back for it.

Came here on Saturday, busy place. Got order and away home, was something missing, wether a lack of communication on my side or theirs, anyway went back and was quickly and efficiently resolved, excellent customer service to solve a problem. Food was all very tasty and would definitely go back.

Arrived 15 minutes before closing with our order being freshly cooked. All food was delicious and piping hot. Chips lovely & crunchy with very little ‘grease’ on fingers after eating. Added bonus was the lemon wedge on the side for the fish supper. Highly recommend

I have found Crail chippy to be rather a hit and miss generally. But what I've found extremely poor & awful and lack of quality of money is the children's portion of fish in the children's fish supper. It's disgracfully small. We are talking 2 bites and it gone. There is zero excuse to have a portion of fish so small. To the extent I've had to give me child some of my fish to compensate for such the small amount every time I have bought fish suppers from there. I will not be going again. I price certainly does not match the quality or as stated previous the joke of a size of the fish portion for kids. What the owners should do is visit Liverpool where I originally come from and see the way fish suppers and portion sizes of fish are supposed to like. Joke

Visited Chip Shop tonight the batter on the fish was so burnt it was impossible to eat it and chips were very greasy the other breaded fish was also burnt and inedible. very very disappointing. Would have returned it but too far to go. The fryer should have seen it was burnt and not sold it .Certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anybody!!!

My experience was unfortunately not the best. Served fairly quickly, staff member was friendly. I ordered a fish supper. Decent portion for the size. Chips were mainly good. However the fish was the let down. Looked tasty and a good size, however the batter was very soggy ,no crisp to it. Also the fish had the taste and look of it not being quite cooked enough. Rather disappointed as was really looking forward to it.

Absolutely superb fish and chips. We regularly visit East Neuk and have previously tried the famous Anstruther Fish shop and the other chippy in Anstruther. Crail is by far the best. So flavoursome and in a beautiful setting!

Stopped here one evening whilst on our weekend getaway and it was delicious! The fish was super super fresh and there was so much of it! My partners haggis supper was to die for as well. Would recommend going if you’re in the area!

Despite the times, Crail Fish bar continue to provide an essential service to local community and tourists. We had prawns, scampi and fish and it was completely delicious. The service was safe and reassuring with distancing and masks. Highly recommend.

We visited here while staying at Sauchope links lodge. Its right on the main street and does really good fish and chips. Took quite a while to be served but there was only 2 people working in it on a Friday night at 630pm.

Having spent a number of days in Fife recently, I made a habit of having a fish supper after a long day's walk on the Fife Coastal Path. This was up there with the best of them. A sensible covid19 arrangement, a reasonable wait for the supper, which was hungrily enjoyed on a bench a little further up the street.

Visited here as you can’t visit the seaside without getting fish and chips. Normally go to Anstruther but didn’t enjoy my last visit and heard The Crail Fish Bar was worth a visit. Lovely fish supper from Frail Fish Bar, avoiding the queues at busy Anstruther. We enjoyed ours sitting looking out across the sea towards the Isle of May. When the food and the view is this good, what more could you want?

Met friends on Friday night and was our time to do dinner, with restrictions thought that a wee fish supper was in order. Friends who love fish said it was the best they had ever had, excellent service and very safe too x

Bought a fish supper, can of Diet Coke, mushy peas, tartare sauce. She didn’t say how much it was when she wrung it up, I didn’t get a receipt.... paid contactless because of covid. Just checked my card statement £15.35!!!! For ONE fish supper and a can of juice? Also, some obnoxious friend of one of the staff (with no mask on) kept getting too close to everyone, wouldn’t get away from the counter (talking to his friend) which meant that everyone had to come beside him go get their orders. So much for social distancing! Infact I could barely get past him to pay, or I might have noticed the extortionate cost at the time! Staff were friendly, hygiene seemed good. One older lady with blonde hair taking the orders was particularly helpful..... but I just feel completely ripped off!! £15.35 for ONE fish supper?

This place has been getting good reviews so after a recommendation we had a drive up the East Neuk today, drove straight past our usual Anstruther and stopped off here for our fish supper. We weren’t disappointed! Quality great, it was delicious and there were little benches outside to eat it. Good social distancing measures. Opens at 4 and it wasn’t too busy but it did get busier later. Quality better than last few times we’ve been to the famous one in Anstruther and service was quicker. Worth a visit!

We have had fish suppers from most places along the east neuk coastline. but this traditional chippy is up there with the best of them . Serving up lovely fresh haddock ,perfectly cooked chips ,delicious mushy peas , you can even have a pickle and a buttered roll to top things off so what more could you ask for in one of Scotland’s quaintest fishing villages . the east neuk is home to what must be the best places in Scotland to get a fish suppper . From elie to anstruther , pitenweem to St. Andrews Crail is up there with the best. wether you are passing through or stopping in the village or camping nearby if you stop at Crail chippy you won’t be disappointed. light crispy Batter on fresh haddock or a pudding of your choice or a smoked sausage or even a half pizza in batter you will love every mouthful . some chippys food is greasy but not Crail Light dry and extremely tasty . don’t just take my word for it next time you visit the east neuk stop in at Crail and enjoy a truly fantastic chippy tea

We've just visited here for the 3rd time in a week, we thought the food was even nicer than a well known rival and Crail is such a lovely, clean place to sit and eat your fish and chips. We tried the haddock and scampi and both were the best we have ever had.

Called in on a Sunday evening after a weekend wedding. The owner or ? Manager couldn't of been more helpful and friendly even supplying wine glasses for the wine we had with us. The cafe was spotlessly clean and the haddock and chips we all had was absolutely delicious. A lovely way to end our four night stay in Crail before heading south the following morning.

We came in here for a sit-in fish and chip tea and it was perfect in every way:The shop and restaurant are clean and smart.The service is friendly and, simply, lovely.We had two haddock fish suppers and the fish was fresh, meaty and perfectly cooked in a light, crispy batter.Our side dishes of mushy peas and curry sauce were spot on.And our “extras” of onion rings and home-made tartare sauce were excellent.I’ve had top class fish and chips all over the UK and this is up with the best of them, and as far as local fish and chips is concerned, the Crail Fish Bar is way better than the “famous one” in Anstruther - and they use proper plates!Highly recommended.
