Fabulous meal in The Dory Bistro this evening. Food absolutely outstanding as was the ambience in the restaurant and the people who take a pride in the food they serve. The Dory aperitif is definitely recommended. I had the halibut to start and my husband had the clams. I had monkfish for mains and he had the cod. All incredible - in presentation and quality. A lovely glass of wine to accompany my food - the driver had water. Good coffee to finish. Overall, cannot recommend this place enough and excellent value for money for the quality of the food and service.

2 weeks ago today we re-visited The Dory. What a special place this is! Everything was spot-on and the same staff as last year made the day all the more memorable.

An excellent lunch today the food first class and service friendly and helpful The lobster delicious and special Oyster dish not to be missed!!

Good food as long as you like fish and seafood.

Perfect welcome...superb meal with tempura style oysters...a treat..then the lobster...so delicious...we had a great time...I really recommend it....very nice place...

The best monkfish dish I’ve ever had, the fish was cooked perfectly and everything else on the plate was just as perfect. Also, they’re dog friendly.

Thank you so much for the most wonderful Birthday Lunch. We all commented that it's rare to find a Menu where you want to literally try every single item. We did well with 5 different dishes and an oysters starter. A lovely Team, super setting and exquisite food!! A fantastic memory made ❤️

Amazing meal, best we've had in the East Neuk. Specials were irresistible and garden produce delicious. Catered for the GF/DF in our party and dog friendly for lunch. Can't wait to come back.

Great atmosphere delicious food😀

The Dory is a seafood restaurant on the Pittenweem harbour. We walked the Dory several times before looking up the menu. The menu seemed creative with lots of great options. The breaded oysters were out of this world, I could have had several portions as my main. I went for the monkfish as a main, which was extremely well cooked. My partner went for the seaweed breaded fish and chips, which was very good. We found out that most of the vegetables are actually grown on top of the restaurant. That made sense as everything tasted so fresh. The service was exceptional and we couldn't recommend it enough. We will be back!

Second time of visiting and was again excellent

Really enjoyed a special birthday meal here at the end of July. Lovely atmosphere with excellent food, and beautiful/interesting art to look at. It took time for someone to take our order but that's a very small thing - you might expect that in the holidays. Will definitely be back.

Very lucky to get a cancellation for two on Thursday. Husband and I shared our starters and mains. For starters we had the cured halibut with rye (incredible), fried oysters. Mains were hake (still thinking about this, it was so good) and the seaweed battered fish and chips. Wine and drinks list is fabulous. The staff were lovely - you’ve got a great team. We were enjoying the evening so much we forgot to take photos of the food. Would recommend - we will be back!

Booked via email for a table of 7, plus a dog and baby for a Sunday lunch, and they were very accommodating! Such a warm welcome and bubbly waitress. We all loved our starters and mains! So much to choose from with the specials board and the main menu. They are dog friendly for lunch and brought our dog a wee water bowl. The restroom also had a baby changing table. The restaurant is also an art gallery. Great place!!

Fabulous very local foods. Freshest fish you could find in the East Neuk. Worth a special trip or detour.

We loved everything about our dinner here, the space with walls of great art and a view out over the boats bobbing in the harbour, the friendly but efficient staff and above all the fantastic food! Superb all round.

Fantastic bistro. Food absolutely first class and delicious. We had hake and red snapper followed by chocolate basque cheesecake and a strawberry frangipane tart. Superb. Lovely staff. Highly recommend. Forgot to take pics of the fish dishes 🙄

High quality fresh produce made into creative, Delicious and inventive dishes. The staff are excellent- just the right amount of service making sure you are happy and well taken care of, without being over-bearing. Their range of drinks is also with a wide range of zero alcohol choices too

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dory , a charming seafood restaurant located in the heart of Pittenweem. This was my second visit. The restaurant's interior was tastefully decorated with local and talented artists. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and soothing background music set the stage for a delightful dining experience. The knowledgeable and friendly staff were more than happy to offer recommendations and provide insights into the preparation of each dish on the menu. Aside from the outstanding food, the service was impeccable. The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience. Overall, The Dory offers a delightful culinary journey . The charming ambiance, delectable dishes, and attentive service make it an ideal choice for any occasion. I hope to be back again soon.

We had a fantastic lunch at this delightful bistro. The quality of food was superb, and Ruth and her team dealt brilliantly with the dietary challenges we presented. One of my sons has food allergies and the chef took the time to provide a menu which clearly identified dishes he could eat and those to avoid. My other son is autistic and struggles with “fancy food”, and gets stressed trying to pick a dish. The bistro made clear they were happy to adapt dishes including from the children’s menu, which made him feel at ease. This was superb customer care, and was backed up by a friendly front of house team. I would highly recommend the Dory.

Spectacular place next to the sea excellent food

I went for lunch with my brother on Sunday 15th october and I just want to say it was fantastic! I never bother to write reviews I'm afraid but I am quite fussy about my food as I cook everything from scratch at home and also I am passionate about seafood and shellfish! The special menu was wonderful, no need to look further, the service delightful, and our oysters and lobster magnificent. I guess it is so very fresh, no air miles and the lobster, which can be so often over cooked and chewy was flaky and melt in the mouth! I shall be back and urge anyone in Pittenween area to visit John Dory bistro. Thank you for a delicious memorable lunch!

Amazing seafood restaurant and art gallery on the harbour. Locally sourced produce with a menu that regularly updates. Great meal out for a date or large table of friends and family. Good food guide recognised and AA Rosette awarded. Well worth it !

A fabulous wee place on the harbour. Food was delicious with plenty of choice and a good wine list. A very warm welcome with friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful surroundings too. A must if you are visiting Pittenweem. A good kids menu was available too.

Delicious food this evening. Lovely choice of specials for aperitifs, starters and main courses. Great to see the restaurant so busy on a Wednesday evening.

Excellent food but not much atmosphere

What a lovely place to eat, ate from specials menu which was hard to pick from as there was so much choice, fish was so fresh as it was caught that morning by local fishermen, lovely staff would recommend eating here & it was dog friendly

A great meal with friends. I had the mussels (chorizo added in sauce) and the 1/2 lobster with chips. I really enjoyed mine, I could have missed the chorizo and I guess for pescatarian that’s a no no. The lobster was very good and local. The chips I had superb. Others had the mackerel (freshly caught) all full of praise. My parter had crème brule which was “excellent”. Service was excellent, very helpful on gluten free and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had a fabulous dinner here this evening. Excellent service, amazing fresh local food expertly prepared and presented. Highly recommended.

Well.... The food is good, no questions. Atmosphere is nice no problems. Service is the weakest link. Time between courses takes ages. We ve asked 3 times after the maine course if someone could take the dessert order and 3 girls who were in the room at the time having a chat together, no one came to see us so we went to the counter to pay the bill and left. It's just a shame, it could have been a good experience. ☹️

What an absolute random find in Pittenweem ! Haven’t been there for 40 years and stumbled on a great place for dinner. You have to go if you are in the area!! So long as you love local ingredients, great fresh seafood and a cracker of a wine list. They even have a great kids menu (phew!)

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at The Dory to celebrate his birthday. The food was exquisite - especially the fresh asparagus and parmesan foam and the fish of the day, hake, in an aromatic green thai curry sauce. Totally delish. The service was as good as the food and I cannot wait to go back. One of the best meals we have had in the area for a long time.

Amazing gourmet food in an assuming setting

We came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was a very pleasant surprise after somewhere else fell through! The salt and pepper squid starter was beautiful, and cooked to perfection. There was a light dusting on it, and thankfully not covered in batter. It came with a lovely aioli, that wasn’t overpowering. The oysters were fresh and also came with a tasty dressing. We had Monkfish and classic fish and chips for mains, both of which were delicious, and reasonably priced, particularly the Monkfish (albeit a tad on the small side). The batter on the fish and chips was light and crispy and the haddock itself was very well cooked. I will definitely be back here again in the future! Edit: we came back again recently and this time we got the Sunday roast and the Hake. It was just as good (see the photos)

Had dinner for 4 here. Food is brilliant and the staff are all lovely. Portion sizes vary depending on the dish served but it's all really good. Mocktails are very welcome for drivers

Filled our boots with fantastic food - oysters 3 different ways, mussels, hake thai stew, langoustines, turbot of the day, tasty puds, decent coffee. Friendly and efficient team staff, great art and views. Wish we lived closer!

Lovely, airy, restaurant. Located looking onto the harbour, so pretty setting. We were welcomed on entry by friendly staff. Food is excellent. Very good fish choice. We had Cullen skink, which was really good- with mussels, prawn and lobster tail; and mussels. Then hake green Thai curry with flatbread, stuffed squid and fish and chips. All freshly cooked perfectly. Desserts are excellent too, especially seville orange pudding. Good wine menu too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely evening, and not rushed at all. Highly recommend.

We have been here twice and both occasions were excellent – except the lobster dish was considerably overpriced for the small and slender half lobsters with shell that were probably no more than 10-12 cm. We had to order another dish since we were still hungry. The food was delicious nonetheless, as were the other dishes we’ve had there. The food and drinks menus are not big but varied enough to please different palates. Top marks for dish creativity and tastiness. Prices lean on the higher end of the spectrum. This is a small art gallery that doubles as a bistro. It is a low-key, unpretentious place that faces the harbour.

This is a fabulous restaurant. From the service to the food. I highly recommend it

Lovely place for Sunday lunch - very friendly service and the food was absolutely delicious. We had more of a snack than a full meal but the home-smoked mackerel pâté was sensational and the chips properly fat and crunchy. Would love to come back when I am hungrier and up in this part of the world.

Fabulous meal at The Dory Bistro. Mackerel main course was especially good, fresh and as local as could be, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. Muscadet was also exceptional. Service by all staff was superb, efficient, informed and friendly. Our first visit, but we will definitely be back!

Great food and great service, top quality seafood

Was here a few days back and was unfortunately disappointed. Its very expensive for the portion you receive. I understand that's the norm with pretentious bistro restraunts these days. Sadly disappointed. I'll be visiting the dreel tavern from now. Much better bang for your buck and great food and drink

Wonderful experience, fresh seafood straight off the boats 20 metres away in the harbour presented beautifully. Why can't more restaurants get this simple formula right, good quality food at extremely reasonable prices and looked after by smiley friendly people .

Dropped by for lunch, without booking, and on a Saturday. Christina found us a table quickly, even though they were very busy. We were even more impressed that we could take our little dog in with us. The Dory had a good menu, locally sourced and an impressive wine list. We settled on local mackerel and the battered haddock. Our meals were delivered within a very reasonable time. It was well presented, hot and portions were generous. The food was excellent, so good we will make sure that we eat there again whilst holidaying in Fife. Thank you to all the staff who were so polite and friendly. An excellent experience all round!

Our high expectations were fully met! The restaurant has a cosy and charming ambience. We had a full course with the catch of the day, raw oysters and shellfish. The manager was very friendly and she gave an excellent recommendation for a nice peated wishkey.

Personnel chaleureux et accueillant. Les prix sont corrects et la cuisine y est faite maison. Petit plus, les légumes du jardin de Dory. Ne passez pas à côté de la soupe de crabe et du ½ homard chaud en provenance direct du port de Pittenweem situé juste au pied du restaurant. Les desserts y sont tout aussi savoureux et faits maison.

Really lovely seafront restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere, with local marine inspired artwork. Fresh seafood was perfect and the service was incredible. Be sure to book and arrive early if driving to find parking.

Had a family lunch on Saturday to celebrate my brother and my own birthday . And as usual the food, service and overall experience was excellent . Fantastic choice on menu and so fresh and delicious . Can't wait for next meal there . Thank you all

Absolutely delicious lunch, fresh, local produce prepared with care. The service was great, friendly attentive staff, after a short wait our food, obviously made fresh, arrived and it was all perfect. We were provided with a small selection of complimentary, delicious fresh bread while we waited and the wait was utterly worth it. I had the haddock, the fish was fantastic, the batter crispy and hot. The chips were satisfyingly crunchy, triple cooked? Minted peas were a perfect accompaniment. The tartare sauce was the best I've ever had. My wife had the vegetable risotto which was absolutely packed with fresh spring veg, she competely cleared her plate. Well presented, by people who obviously care about what they serve, I can thoroughly recommend The Dory.

Went for dinner, really nice. Lovely paintings all over the wall. The tomatoes in the salad was sooooo good; juicy and sweet. The duck breast appetizer was super tender. Oysters were nice and fresh. The roast beef entree was great too. All fresh ingredients.

We tried to arrange a table with just 2 hours notice and the staff really did accommodate us. The food was excellent, taking the very best the coast has to offer. The hake and langoustines were brilliant. And desserts were just as good. Friendly, light atmosphere, with courteous staff. Worth the money. 👍

A very warm and friendly establishment on the harbour front in Pittenweem. A good selection of wines. We enjoyed pan-fried pigeon and duck, lobster and smoked salmon. The ambiance us very pleasing, quiet and tasteful. We would visit again.

Charming restaurant directly at the harbor. Bistro style interior. Nice selection of seafood and fish on the menu. The starters we had were excellent (breaded oysters, Cullen skink). Main was the catch of the day, sea trout, good but maybe slightly generic, dessert was great again. 4 stars because the service was friendly but slow. We had 45 min between finishing starters and getting mains. Have an espresso martini, they are delicious!!

We've just returned from dinner at the Dory Bistro and it was superb. We've been eating there for some time and it keeps getting better.

Great fish restaurant. 10 year old son said best fish he has ever had.
